Diner Reviews
  • "Great food! Great service! I had requested a booth with a window view, where the noise would be 'conversation friendly' but there was a break down in communication and we were seated at a table and boy was it ever noisy! We dined with a couple whom we like to converse with and catch up, however, as good as everything was, it is not a place to do anything at but dine! We will try again, when it is cooler, so that we can dine outside. I would recommend this place with stipulation, be prepared to yell a lot at your dinning companion!"

  • "Love this sister restaurant to Palm Valley because its closer. Also tables not as close together which is nice. But just as loud! We had to shout at our waiter to give our order. Food was awesome and came out really quickly. Really wish they would add some artwork or fabric to cut down on the noise."

  • "Good rating because there is not a lot to choose from in the area. Our previous experience here was one fish dish over cooked, the manager came over and agreed it was over cooked and replaced the dish. Unfortunately, the other diner had to wait until the replacement, so that dish became cold. In some restaurants, that would have meant a comp of some sort, not here, you just wait until the food comes out with no regard for the other diner. This visit the grouper was excellent, however, the shrimp & grits, a staple of the fish camp group was not. The shrimp were small & over cooked, the grits were creamy but thin."

  • "As usual, everything we ordered was excellent. Food was great, servers were helpful and view wonderful."

  • "We went on a friday night and it was noisier than a previous time but the view of the creek and the St. Johns River was very nice. The server was attentive and the food very good, as usual!"

  • "The food is always delicious!!! This dinner was with 2 of my girlfriends who had never been here and they loved their food as well. The snapper special was delicious and the scallops were a great start. The only bad thing I would have to say was that it was sooooooooo hot inside. And on a hot summer early evening in Jacksonville that's not good. All 3 of us were steady wiping the sweat off our faces."

  • "The worst thing about this place is he noise. If you have to repeat your orders he waiter 3 times because he can't hear you, you should probably do something about the noise! Food is very good though, which is why we have been there 3 times!"

  • "Food is good and I appreaciated that they made a special martini for me"

  • "Everything is great as always. If I had to find something to critique, it might be that it is always packed and sometimes so loud that a conversation is difficult. I will take that anytime for the quality of food and service!!!"

  • "We love the view of the Saint Johns River from Fish Camp. The atmosphere is really nice, albeit loud. It's a wide open space where conversations are going constantly, so if you're looking for a quiet and romantic place, this might not be the one. We sure love it though!"

  • "This marina restaurant has great food. However the service is consistantly poor.It seems everytime we go we end up with terrible service. This last visit we sat outside. The server started out attentive but quickly forgot about us. They served our apetizer we had no silverware. We had to eat with our fingers as no one came back to table for 20 minutes. The server laughed that we had no silver, stated our food would be right out and disappeared again. We had to go inside for a glass of wine and preceded to wait another 30 minutes for our food. Food was wonderful but evening ruined. We ate about 1/2 and brought it home. Manager came over to apologize and offered a gift card but never brought it to us. I hope they hire better servers."

  • "We have eaten here several times, and previous visits were good to very good. We each got the pan fried chicken with grits and greens. The chicken WAS pan fried; however, they submerged it in a bowl of grits so the chicken had no taste. The grits were good. In my wife's greens was a very large pepper which we guessed they used to season the greens. It was gross looking and was not edible. I would never order this dish again. I cannot imagine anyone ordering this dish twice."

  • "This spot has excellent service, a pleasant, dock-side location, a great facility, and the kind of thoughtful menu that leaves no real gaps. Any place that serves ceviche and mussels, as well as whole fried fish is covering all the right points. Yet, the menu is not cluttered or too long to inspire confidence. As close to a sure thing as a higher-minded fish house gets for me. I drive here eagerly, and it is NOT in my neighborhood."

  • "The food was fantastic. Service was slow. The waitress was very polite and friendly but the food took a while to come. It is also very loud."

  • "Julington Creek has been desperate for a high quality restaurant and the Fish Camp delivers. We have been four times with parties of 2. 4, and 6. The food is fantastic, reasonably priced and the wait staff are always attentive."

  • "Excellent crab cakes and shrimp grits!! The bread pudding dessert was delicious as well!!"

  • "The Blackened Mahi dish was outstanding. The fish was delicious. The grits were the best I have ever had. Who adds Turnip Greens? They were full of flavor and absolutely the best surprise. Could eat there for every meal!"

  • "Wethe food and service was great, as always. We were a group of 8 and really struggled talking with one another because it was SO loud. Other then that, it was great!"

  • "Our second visit to JCFC was as good as the first visit! Although the restaurant is LOUD when its crowded, it is still a lively and fun place. The food is very very good, and there is a variety of choices from fish to steak. The fried green tomatoes and conch fritters are the best! Everyone finished their plates (no leftovers for tomorrow)! The service is very good, but reservations are really a must if you want to sit upstairs (downstairs if FCFS but is closed Mon and Tue). Its not inexpensive, so I wouldnt eat there every week, but it is a great place for a special occasion or a party. Will definitely be back!"

  • "Initially there was some confusion as to who our waiter/waitress was to be. The waiter was smart in advising us that happy hour was ending in 15 minutes but he ended up not being our server. Our appetizer was excellent. The meals were brought out. My salmon was excellent but unfortunately my husband's fish was very over cooked. It took awhile to get someone's attention to report the overcooked food. It was taken away and replaced very quickly. It was a dump and run and again unfortunately the fish was now served very raw. My husband went looking for someone to address the now raw fish. The third time his meal was finally served and at which point I had already finished my meal completely. It was very frustrating."

  • "The blackened mahi with tasso gravy, the collards, and the shrimp and grits were absolutely outstandingly delicious. The only bobble in the food was the crab cakes which had a dry, unpleasing texture. The server was kind and knowledgeable about the menu but either had too many tables to cover or was otherwise distracted. The dining area was not slammed, but the time from appetizer to main course was agonizingly long. It's an easy transgression to forgive considering the outstanding view of the creek and the visual poetry of life at the neighboring marina. We have been on other occasions when service was great, so hopefully this was just an anomaly. Even if super slow is the norm, it won't prevent us from going back for shrimp and grits."

  • "Appetizers & main courses were excellent & priced reasonably. Service was also excellent...just enough attention from the wait-staff. Very disappointed with the cost of alcohol...see my comment below. All-in-all a positive experience."

  • "We have been waiting for something good to come to the 210/Julington Creek area. Julington Fish Camp has a great staff and terrific food. We have been to this restaurants quite a few times and the food is always great. They have managed to carry over from their other restaurants the great food and service. Would highly recommend it!"

  • "One of our new "go to" places in Jacksonville. Food is always fabulous and the view over the marina is wonderful, especially at sunset. When we have out of town guests, I pick up the phone and make reservations at JCFC!"

  • "Quickly became a success in Mandarin/Julington Creek in a location where many others have failed. Why? The food we had was excellent. Best crab cakes I've had in Jax. The remodel opened up the restaurant to light and views. We don't like noise (which Open Table euphemistically calls energetic), so we aim for early. But even on Sunday at 4, we could tell it was loud upstairs, so we stayed downstairs where we had the area to ourselves. Not cheap, but you get value for what you spend. Our entrees as good as Seasons 52, which as been our Jax fav. We'll be back."

  • "I would like to give this restaurant a 5 star review but I can't. The food was excellent and the service was very good. But the noise level was so high it was impossible to converse. We were a group of 8, and could only really talk with the people immediately next to each other - and even that was difficult. Put in something to dampen the noise and I'll go back, otherwise I'll try one of the sister restaurants next time."

  • "The food and service were good but the noise level was not enjoyable as we could barely hear each other across the table. I don't know what they can do to correct that, if it is the ceiling or piping or what. We were surprised how nice the restaurant and menu were, better than a fish camp with a lot of good selections on the menu besides fried food. We would go back again when possible."

  • "My husband and I came for dinner. We actually arrived 45 minutes before our reservation, but our table was ready in about 10 minutes from arrival. We ordered an appetizer and a meals. The food was amazing. I ate every bite and didn't need a take home box. Usually I take home food when I eat at a restaurant. The only thing that we did not like about the restaurant was the noise level. It was hard to hear anyone talking. The bartender was in our faces but had to yell over the noise to talk to us. My husband and I had a hard time hearing each other over our 2 person table. We had to shout. It was impossible to have a conversation. Next time we come, we will sit outside so that we can hear each other."

  • "Two of us went on a Thursday evening. We had a reservation and there was no wait to sit down. Very friendly and helpful waitress. There was a bit of a wait for the food; however, the off the stove straight to the table fresh taste made up for it. We ordered the fish sandwich made with yellow tail which was perfectly cooked and delicious. We also ordered the crab cakes which had good flavor but were a bit dry. Would definitely go back."

  • "Had heard good reviews from friends but I sure made a very bad choice on my birthday. Artichoke appetizer was pathetic...hard with no flavor. Wedge salad was the most pale limp iceberg I have ever seen. Entree had so much garlic you could not taste anything else. Very overpriced for quality...will never return."

  • "Met friends for lunch, first time for all of us. Had reservations, however, none were needed since it was 2:30. Food was fantastic. We tried the gator tail and also the fried green tomatoes for appetizers, since we had never had it before, and we all enjoyed it very much. Everyone ordered something different. My wife had the deviled crab, I had the shrimp and oysters, friends had cod fish and his wife had a hamburger. We were very satisfied with the servings, enough for us to each enjoy the following day. Made room for dessert, we chose white chocolate bread pudding. We shared that, and it was delicious. Our server was Dee, she was friendly, attentive, and we enjoyed our lunch very much and we will definitely return."

  • "This was our third visit to JCFC in less than a month. We keep coming back for more! The good is never disappointing, and the service is great. It was pretty busy when we went on Sunday night, so the noise level was pretty high with lots of people combined with the acoustics of the building, so service was slightly slower than before and noise higher....nothing a glass of $3 Happy Hour Chardonnay couldn't fix! :) The octopus and white bean appetizer is a must try! We will be back!"

  • "We have a group of 10 ladies that have have lunch together each month (some of us for for over 45 years). We choose a different restaurant every month. I will say that the waiter (I think his name was Chris) was by far the best we have had in a long long time. The food was absolutely wonderful. The service was great and every staff person we came in contact with was most friendly. I wish this was not so far from my house because I think I would have lunch there everyday. Well, that might be a good thing. LOL. Thanks Julington Creek Fish Camp for a great time."
