Diner Reviews
  • "I've been to JCFC 3 times now. The food is overall above average but so are the prices. They fail on staple dishes for a fish camp such as the low country boil - smaller quantity at higher price, and don't know how to serve it (how about a shell dish or bucket?). Their best fare is designer dishes & sauces, which are quite good but again the quantity is smallish. Staff are pleasant and generally attentive. Atmosphere is nice but cramped and VERY loud. Parking is an issue. Recommend lunch here rather than dinner for a more pleasant overall experience. "

  • "Has a nice bar and walking scene downstairs and a very nice sit down restaurant service upstairs with a great view of the water. There is seating outside on a ice day too. Food was good and service was good."

  • "Best seafood in jax and very reasonable prices! I highly recommend for families, couples, singles, anyone!"

  • "I brought a group of 8 to celebrate the end of tax season and everything was wonderful. The appetizers were great and the entrée was outstanding! The service was excellent! The group was very impressed and I know all of us will visit again!"

  • "Wonderful ambience with attentive and not obtrusive service. Varied and tantalizing menu with food that lives up to its mouth-watering description. A bit loud but that's because everyone is undoubtedly having such a good time!"

  • "The food was good but pricey. The restaurant is beautifully renovated and decorated but it's a tight fit and you easily overhear the conversations of your dining neighbors. The staff was wonderful but each time we saw food carried out something was being dripped or almost spilled. The table next to us had a glass of water spilled on them by the person bringing their food. Management was not notified which was unfortunate and no real apology was made. I would go back, but it won't be my first choice due to price and the tight fit. "

  • "Julington Fish Camp not as good as their other restaurants. Food just not the same. Very noisy! Takes away from enjoyment"

  • "Excellent ambiance, service and food. Way too pricey.."

  • "Beautiful restaurant, nice outdoor setting if you wish and very nice view. Baja fish tacos were flavorful but disappointing as they had too small amounts of fish. French fries were there as fillers. I may go back but would not order the fish tacos."

  • "Everything a restaurant should be. A bit noisy but all else great!! Food is creative and delicious. Love that it is in my neighborhood. Love eating where the restaurant is aesthetically pleasing with the river view and food just as great."

  • "I had the broiled platter, it was very good. More than I could eat. My husband had the tuna he enjoyed it as well. There menu is very similar if not exactly like there Palm Valley Fish Camp restaurant. So if you like Palm Valley you will like Julington Creek also."

  • "We celebrated our 35 wedding Anniversary here and even though the food was good we thought it was much to loud for such a special occasion. We both felt like the seats were very hard and uncomfortable. If you want a quiet dinner wiuth that special loved one this is not the place to go."

  • "Food was outstanding! Had the daily special - Triggerfish and my wife had the Salmon. Both were yummy! We were celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary and since we both love fresh seafood, there was no discussion of going anywhere else. The fish is the freshest in Jacksonville. Service was great and prices reasonable. We will be back!"

  • "The food was very good except that the rib eye steak was too salty as well as the potatoes. The restaurant was very loud and it was difficult to talk."

  • "If you like seafood, you won't be disappointed with this establishment. Have eaten there three times and the food has been great each time. Surprisingly, lobster isn't on the menu, odd to me given it's a seafood place. Despite that, this place is still most worthy of my repeat business."

  • "We made reservations online, arrived on time and were seated immediately. We had blackened mahi-mahi and triggerfish. Both were perfectly prepared. The sauces were delicious."

  • "Our first time to eat at fish camp. A little disappointed. Food was not hot. Flavor was good. Except The sirloin steak. Asked for medium well & it came out rare. Sent back & came back Burnt on outside & rare in middle. The cost was high. Waitress was very god"

  • "Although it was nice sitting outside and having a view of the Marina, the overall experience, including service and food were less than expected past on ratings from other diners. Our experience certainly did not mirror other diners. BTW, we've eaten at Palm Valley Fish Camp, North Beach Fish Camp and Marker 32, and this was by FAR our least desirable experience on ALL levels...but obiously, this are is really lacking in restaurants, because the wait as we were leaving was ridiculous."

  • "A nice dinner for our family of four, and our daughter's 21st birthday. The table was reserved, so no waiting, service was great, and we honestly had 4 of the best pieces of fish we've ever had served to us. Salmon, Cod, Mahi, and Tuna, and all were top notch. The ONLY slightly negative mark is that the kitchen seemed a little behind, and we waited a while for the food. But only 4 dishes that good could have made up for it - and it did. bill kirk"

  • "Service was good, and the food was good too. It's busy and noisy, but not oppressively so. A few points: the gator tail appetizer was bland and nothing special; they ran out of the flounder that was the evening special (but substituted snapper, which was good as well), and it would seem that a restaurant like this would offer bread to its customers. In the end, dinner for two with two drinks each, a shared appetizer, and no dessert, came to $100 with tip. So it's priced more like an upscale seafood restaurant than a fish camp. At that price point, it would finish second to Bonefish Grill, a few miles up the road. But it was enjoyable, and I expect we'll be back. Be sure to make reservations, as this is quite the busy and popular place."

  • "Made a reservation for our son's birthday which I listed in the Open Table reservation as asked. Hostess' "Happy Birthday" wish when we arrived was the only acknowledgement of our special occasion. The restaurant was VERY loud; difficult to hold a conversation at our table. Our table was sticky and wobbly when we arrived. We spent $150 for a family of 4. Food was ok. Maybe we'll give it a try for lunch."

  • "Waited 40 min for food. One meal came out cold. Food was okay. Was expecting more."

  • "Totally ignored by the server after initial order, sirloin was terrible. Fish had been sitting long before arriving. Luckily the server's lack of attention allowed me to avoid another $9.00 bar drink."

  • "Fabulous menu that is calorie friendly. Energetic and fun atmosphere with the staff that rivals a 5 star Las Vegas restaurant with the home town feel of comfort. The food is fantastic with a great presentation. Highly recommend for any occasion, elegant or just for fun."

  • "Love this restaurant! The shrimp and grits are the best! Their butter beans are so good....they are like dessert, lol! And of course, the bread pudding is a dream. So glad you are here in Mandarin"

  • "Great location and very good food. The services was a little slow at the beginning as it took our waitress longer than it should to acknowledge our table after we were seated. This usually leads me to walk out on a restaurant. However, I really wanted to try the food. I'm glad we stayed. The service picked up and we all enjoyed our dinner."

  • "Every time my wife & I drove by this place it was packed. We finally made some reservations & were promptly seated as we walked in (without a wait). I had the Blackened Mahi special & my wife had the crab cakes - both were outstanding, with the Mahi special being one of the top 5 best dishes I've ever tried (we eat out a lot). I had the roasted beet salad to begin with - again, nice combination of flavors/textures/tastes...something new. My wife had the deep fried artichoke hearts & said they were good as well. We both shared a piece of the key lime pie after dinner. Excellent dining menu - waitress was a little absent at times, but the place was packed. I would definitely recommend this place - nice to see a good restaurant here."

  • "I had a daily special fish and my wife had shrimp. Food was good and well prepared. The food took a while and we got the "we are so slammed" excuse. It was busy, but if you can't be prompt when it is busy- it won't be busy long. Good food will get us back in for another shot. Nice decor. Needs more outdoor seating and some way to bring down the noise level."

  • "Tables are very close together and you can actually hear the next tables conversation so it's VERY loud upstairs. Outside would be great when the weather warms up and we will definitely do that next time. I had Shrimp and grits which was great but hubs ordered fried fish and shrimp which was just... Well, fried fish and shrimp. Their menu is much better than that and even he said was a bad choice. Tried the bread pudding and it was delish too. All in all, a great new place to try and I look forward to the warmer days, a couple of appetizers and a few drinks on the patio!"

  • "Service was not attentive; it was hard to catch anybody's eye. We asked for another round of drinks from the bar when our food was brought and they arrived when we were about halfway through our meal. Food was ok, but the hush puppies were burned. One of our party ordered iced tea, and it was instant, not real tea. This place is receiving way too much hype."

  • "The shrimp & grits were outstanding. Did not care for the gator tail - tough & rubbery. Try the gator tail at Corky Bells in E. Palatka."

  • "However noise level is very high. Difficult to listen to conversation at own table"

  • "Had heard good things about this new restaurant. It is not as rustic as other fish camps and the food is better than the average fried platters served at other fish camps. We had the salmon and broiled seafood and both were excellent. The noise level is high so might be difficult to hold conversation if you have a large table. We only had 4 of us so it was acceptable. Had heard that outside seating was also loud due to cars on the bridge over the creek. Like the fact that you can make reservations, even for small groups. Our table was ready when we arrived. Would definitely recommend it to other friends."

  • "Fifth time here since they've been open. Food is always good, love the happy hour specials on the alcohol. Services this time was not as good as normal, however was not terrible. I had asked for Brandon who is a great server, but he just happened to be off that night."

  • "A frequent visitor to Palm Valley Fish Camp, this was my first experience at Julington Creek Fish Camp. It was great to see old favorites on the menu, and to find the same consistently great quality in a location now closer to home. I am amused at the noise level going from Moderate to Energetic to Do Not Recall, but perhaps Energetic is particularly accurate for both locations, as you can tell by talking to others and looking around that diners are having a great meal and a good time. Kudos!"

  • "I have now eaten at all the "fish camp" restaurants run by the current owners and each has its own ambiance. The food at all is outstanding, but I particularly liked the view of the boat harbor and tributary waterway to the St Johns River at The Julington Creek location. For any outing where patrons enjoy good seafood, a well stocked bar, great service and a water view, this is the place!"
