  • "Tapas are perfect for us. We try to eat healthy-sized portions (small) and enjoy sharing and tasting each others selections. Doesn't it seem that your dining companion always makes the better choice? The food was excellent and I liked having a sangria from the flloating sangria bar instead of our usual glass of wine."

  • "The first night we went without reservations, but we're able to order from and eat at the bar. Though there were more than six empty tables when we arrived and those tables remained the entire time of our visit, we were not able to be seated. One of us had to stand the entire meal. The bar service was excellent as were feta salad and cauliflower. The ravioli was nothing to write home about. The second time we went with four others. Butterfish and beef dishes were very good. Sangria was very good. We would go back for sure."

  • "A really great option for a group of foodies who can't decide - a huge range of tapas available, from sushi to sliders, and some excellent cocktails too. Can get pricey, but we'll come back next time we're on the island."

  • "After asking for a quieter table and a slower paced meal, we had a wonderful time at Josselins. We will return for our farewell dinner."

  • "Visited Kauai for 2 weeks. This restaurant was our best meal. Food was excellent. Flavours were amazing, presentation suberb, love the sangria !!"

  • "Got a condo,in walking distance, but was disappointed in our first dinner there. The food was awesome, but came too quickly and the noise level made it impossible to have any conversation. We plan to go again tomorrow night."

  • "Trendy restaurant that is overpriced, with average food and terrible service. They charge full entree prices for half portion. It took over an hour to get our first thing to eat: a salad. Don't go there"

  • "Happy hour at the bar is the only way to eat here. Bar tender was indifferent. Lechee sangria excellent. Had drinks and appetizers at bar. Once seated, meal was rushed. Told them to slow it down but didn't matter. Main entree brought together with other small plates . Pumpkin ravioli tasted like gnocchi. Dough was horrible. Duck tacos tasty. Pot roast too salty. Loud atmosphere and crying babies. Not a repeat"

  • "We found Josselin's a year ago while on Kauai. We spent three weeks there this March and had the opportunity to eat at Josselin's twice. Once with our grown family and grandchildren and then just the two of us our last night there. The food and presentation is so special. With the larger group of course we had many more items to sample! The noise level can be a problem but dining in one of their comfortable booths does not seem to be as loud as when at a table. We love to watch the chef and his assistants preparing the food. Such intensity and it shows! We highly recommend Josslin's to any who like a new eclectic dining experience."

  • "The cauliflower was too charred, the mushrooms too wet, the kale, not massaged enough; tough to chew through. Cabocha bisque was bland, steak was not med-well, more like well and dry. Best of all, the sangria. Delicious fresh fruity sangrias, strong!"

  • "Everything was delicious. The tempura shrimp shouldn't be missed. The Ono was cooked perfectly. And as always each dish is a picture. One of the best restaurants on Kauai."

  • "Jean Marie Josselyn is in the kitchen every night and it shows. Excellent presentation and menu (which changes with the season). We had the very different and very tasty pumpkin ravioli (6 came with the order), excellent large scallops on a bed of saffron risotto (only 2 at $17, a bit pricey), unbelievably good naan bread stuffed with cheeses, pancetta (i think), roasted garlic all baked inside the bread that comes out crusty on the outside with sauce and greens. The "pastrami" carnitas tacos (2 per order) are excellent and are served with 2 different sauces (one was lime-y and one was mango-y, both were great) & the tortillas are handmade. These 4 dishes were plenty for the two of us. Excellent every time I'm here. Great creme brulee too!"

  • "This was a real treat. The service and welcoming attitude were excellent, the menu was great and the food presentation very attractive without being too fussy or fancy. Nice relaxing setting. Would definitely return when in the area. Menu is very vegetarian and vegan-friendly both in terms of some of the items and willingness to modify ingredients as needed."

  • "the salt-pepper octopus was a dud because of the overly sweet sauce & the deconstructed Ahi roll was overwhelmed by truffle oil. Go for the Pork Belly, the lamb meatballs."

  • "The tapas are tasty and beautifully plated. We especially like the beet and pumpkin raviolis. My husband's favorite would be the duck tacos. Everything we have had has been a hit! A nice wine list to accompany your tapas or enjoy their sangria in island flavors."

  • "We had a very enjoyable dinner. Each of our selections satisfied. Our waiter wanted us to make all our choices up front which was a bit annoying. Typically with tapas (at least in our experience) you order some - eat - make another choice - eat - repeat. Probably our best meal in the week we spent on Kauai."

  • "Had a great birthday celebration here. Delicious food, amazing melt in your mouth flavours, great service. Will go back soon."

  • "Have been here several times and the food is always wonderful, as are the sangrias. However because of very strong chilly winds all the windows were closed and the noise was deafening. Conversation was extremely difficult. We went late and it improved a bit as tables vacated. Hostess was not quite rude, but indifferent. Server became more pleasant as workload decreased. He definitely was extremely rushed when we sat down. We had several tapas and requested they space them out two at a time, which they did. It would have been special if they had brought them with some thought of which two would complement, but it all arrived in the sequence ordered-which was basically just going down the menu. All in all, we still will return."

  • "My husband and I have been coming here every year since they opened. It has become my favorite restaurant on Kauai and I made this reservation in advance for our first night back on the island. I especially like the Deconstructed Ahi Roll, set on a bed of dry ice and steaming mysteriously over the table, the Spinach and Portobello Pucks and the Roasted Feta Salad. Yum! They also have amazing sangria which is wheeled to your table on a cart, allowing you to sample several types before you make your decision. We will definitely be back next year!"

  • "Josselin's is a first class tapas restaurant. We chose five dishes: the marlin starter (new to us, this will be repeated when we return), crispy octopus (fried, we prefer sautéed), assorted mushrooms (very good, we did bring some home), naan with goat cheese (new to us, we'll be trying to make this dish at home), and 36 hour pork belly (recommended at our hotel and not a disappointment). We've enjoyed each trip to Josselin's."

  • "The food, the service and the entire experience was excellent. Could not recommend more highly. Prepare to thoroughly enjoy. The dishes are highly imaginative and use local produce and products when possible."

  • "Interesting and fun menu with great execution! The food was outstanding, good wine list, vibrant space, and knowledgeable and efficient service. It may not have the ocean view of some other places, but they make up for it in every other way. We ate at several of the "big name" restaurants on the island, but this was easily our favorite!"

  • "This restaurant is one of our most favorite. Since tapas is relatively small dishes, we could enjoy many various dishes. All of them are surprisingly unique and delicious."

  • "For the price and size (good value) a couple can share several tapas and experience many fantastic tastes. We do the condo thing and cooked in 5 out of 8 nights. All 3 nights dining out were at Josselin's!"

  • "It looks like it's open air because of big windows, but they're closed which made the place really loud. Our waiter explained the menu in great detail, but then pretty much left us for the rest of the meal. At one point he went by quickly with a "thumbs up" and then when we asked for the check he just dropped it and walked by. We tried a shrimp dish that was fine, but tasted like something we'd get at a chain...heavily glazed and clumped together, then served over dry ice for effect. The martini we tried looked good on the menu, but then came out as kind of an electric green. There's a sangria cart that comes around, and while we didn't try it, we heard from others that the drink was pretty sweet. All a little too schmalzy for our taste."

  • "Josselin's service and food were outstanding. Noise level was very high and made the experience less pleasant than we would have liked. Staff was great, attentive, but not intrusive. The squash ravioli, butterfish were sublime. The sangria was good and a cocktail with vodka, citrus flavored with sparkling wine was also very good. Can't remember other dishes by now. Would recommend, though pricey if you go in with a big appetite."

  • "Way overpriced! We've paid a lot for tasty eats on our holiday in Hawaii, but this was the most overpriced food we've had the whole time here. Holy cow. Food was only average so I would definitely recommend going elsewhere!"

  • "High pressure dining - get your order - throw food on table - give very pricey bill to get your table cleaned even though there were many unoccupied tables.. Not expected pace of serving for small plate restaurant. We dined on very warm night - seated in corner which had very little ventilation and no ceiling fans. Credit is warranted for decent food. Rave reviews of this place must have been written by the owner!!!! We will not go back as there are many other options."

  • "had 7:45 reservation. .At our reservation time the two young hostesses appeared to be in a dither. We were initially led to the end of a table that was already occupied by a large group and asked to be seated there! Was told No booths available while I was staring at an empty one. Seated at a small table in the middle of a very busy aisleway near the bar. Waiter knowledgeable but felt rushed. The service issues were so obtrusive , It was hard to enjoy the food which was actually reasonable. There is a reason that the reservations available at this restaurant and not others. This is my second time eating at this restaurant and it will be my last. There are other options In the area and this should be your last choice."

  • "Had a very good dining experience at Josselin's. Our favourite dish was the deconstructed Ahi tuna roll - fantastic. The short ribs were also very good. Beet ravioli's were novel. Ambience and service was very good. Will go back."

  • "A little pricey, but GREAT food! The braised short ribs, pork ribs, and steamed buns with duck were favorites, but everything was DELICIOUS! The panna cotta and mini cream puffs with chocolate sauce were also divine! Have a glass of lychee sangria with a splash of pomegranate sangria too! At the end, you'll wish you had a bigger stomach to try ALL the tasty dishes!"
