Diner Reviews
  • "First time to visit Jory Restaurant at the Allison Inn…service was disjointed. Specifically asked if the smoked chicken salad was white meat chicken and was told it was. It was not. All dark meat, which I know some prefer but had I been given the correct information, I would have ordered something else. Thing seemed off in general. Will try again at some point."

  • "This is our 4th or 5th time eating here and we are never disappointed in the food, wine list, or service. The setting is so beautiful and the setting and food are definitely worth the drive."

  • "Just be careful and ask for the price of the wine. We were surprised by $21/glass wine."

  • "I love the Jory. Treated like royalty. Good recommendation on my brunch dish. Very nice experience. And it wasn't THAT expensive. We will be back."

  • "Everything was fabulous, once again, from the atmosphere, to the service and the food. Whenever we have the opportunity to head through Newberg we make plans to stop for lunch at the Jory Restaurant!"

  • "Jory was outstanding in every respect. Elegant ambiance, perfectly prepared dishes, and extremely knowledgeable and accommodating wait-staff. Service is brigade-style so everyone at the table receives their courses at exactly the same time, which I love. Meal is complete with Amuse Bouche starter, pallet cleansers between courses, mini-dessert with the check - everything you'd expect in a four-star dining experience. Jory reminded us of the best locales in Manhattan or Frisco. If you're in Oregon wine country and looking for a wonderful dining experience, this is it. Local wine list is, of course, fantastic as well, and reasonably priced for the quality-level."

  • "Tyson was the best server I have had in a long time. Witty. Fun. Knowledgable. Makes you feel at ease. Food prepared well with fresh ingredients and creative preparation . Highly recommended."

  • "Great dining experience except for service. Waitress was rushing us the whole time and restaurant was not even full. Wait staff had just put our plates down and she appeared to ask how our dinners were tasting, before we even touched our food with knife and fork."

  • "Jory was an absolutely surpurb experience! The food and service were both 5 star! Can't wait to return for a dinner experience there."

  • "My wife and I enjoyed a terrific lunch after spending the morning at the spa. The service was fantastic and the food was delicious. The chef even promised to email the biscuit recipe to my wife! My only concern...I hope that someone is drinking all of that "Congrats" wine in the restaurant that is on display. It would kill me to think that all that great wine would go to waste."

  • "This place has everything. Great food, service, and it is simply beautiful. I love staying at the Allison which means I get to visit jory more. On this visit, we just were there for dinner. We started in the lounge by the huge, roaring fire with a glass of wine. Then moved to the restaurant. Both spots were comfortable. We had a great visit and can't wait until we can return."

  • "A gal-pal and myself were looking for a quiet restaurant, that served beyond-the-ordinary food, in a setting different from what we have in our local area so we could enjoy lunch, and exchange our Christmas gifts. The Jory Restaurant filled all our needs, and, upon leaving, decided to make JORY our annual destination restaurant."

  • "Was very disappointed in the seating arrangement. Saved all year to go to this renowned expensive restaurant for a romantic dinner with my husband. We were squeezed in on a bench seat with other diners on each side of us, within three feet. I will never go ago for dinner nor will I recommend it."

  • "Our family had heard about Jory and decided to check it out one morning for breakfast. The location and view are beautiful. The service is amazing, but, the food was not worth the price. $17 for pancakes....$19 for a scrambler....neither of which were anything to write home about. We dine out a lot, and I can honestly say the food here was just as good at the $10 plates at Marco's, Gravy, Jam, Screen Door or Tasty n Sons. For the price, I expected a higher level of food, however, this was not the case. Don't get me wrong, it was delicious, just not $17-$20 for a breakfast plate delicious. I would maybe come back to see how their dinner plates are, but with so many closer options, probably not."

  • "We've lived in Portland for just over seven years and while most of the fine dining establishments we've tried have been good, none have truly rivaled some of those we found when we lived in Washington, DC. This place was spectacular. All the food was cooked to perfection and the service was equally top-notch. Great wine selection as well. We can't wait to come back and stay at the inn!"

  • "Superb restaurant! One of our favorite restaurants in the Portland/Willamette Valley region."

  • "I've been three times (for breakfast, lunch, and brunch) and have had great meals every time. Pricey brunch, but it's worth it. Amazingly good burgers, though between both the bun and the burger are so thick I couldn't get my mouth around the whole thing!"

  • "Great food and service, wonderful view. We had dinner and breakfast at the Jory and it was exceptional. The wine list is incredible."

  • "The salmon and quinoa entry I had for lunch was delicious and very well seasoned, however it was barely warm. The other person in our party said the same. The chili ken was hot and delicious. The desserts were wonderful. Service was fine. Not too much fussing. The setting inside was ok but not spectacular. The evening seating might be better. Heat the food and I would rate it as an excellent restaurant."

  • "This was one of our best dining experiences. Every course was seasoned correctly and the service was excellent. We were skeptical Eating in a hotel but this was different. We split a salad and each had a dinner. I had the pork and my husband the salmon. The wood fired entrees hit the spot on a cool fall night. The vegetables and starches that came with the meal were exceptional as well. I asked the waiter about them and he was knowledgable about the preparation. The dessert ( butterscotch boudin) was the perfect ending to a great meal."

  • "It wasn't the best in Newberg. The menu was small but we were easily able to find something we liked. The scallops were amazing! The steak was good but it wasn't as good as a steakhouse steak, nor did we expect it to be. The staff was very friendly, the wine list was extensive to say the least and they were spot on with recommendations. I have it 4 stars because for the money, we preferred another restaurant better."

  • "We recently stayed at the Allison for a weekend get-away. We had a chance to have dinner and brunch for the first time at Jory. We have had linch a couple of times in previous visits to Jory, but this is the first time we were staying at the Allison itself. The service was very upscale without being overly formal. The food certainly lived up to my high expectations. The wine was so good that it promted us to vist the winery the next day to see if we could get more to take home."
