A word from Joe's Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab
Joe's Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab is the culmination of a partnership between Lettuce Entertain You and Joe's Stone Crab, the legendary seafood restaurant of Miami Beach. Opened in Chicago in the fall of 2000, Joe's features an extensive selection of seafood, flown in fresh daily, to complement the world's finest Florida Stone Crab claws. Joe's has quickly built a reputation as one of Chicago's top steakhouses, featuring the signature 16 oz. Bone-In Filet Mignon and 22 oz. New York Strip Steak. Matched with Joe's famous side dishes, dinner only gets better when capped with a slice of key lime pie. Enjoy a generous cocktail in the bustling lounge or the tuxedo-clad service of the clubby dining room and you'll understand why dinner at Joe's has quickly become one of Chicago's favorite social engagements. Diner Reviews
  • "A great place for dinning, quiet, romantic, excelent service, and the food outstanding! This is the second time i visit Joes and the second time i feel great after the dinning!! "

  • "This place is the best and I can't get enough. Between the stone crab claws, the king crab and dover sole... I have a really hard time not ordering all of them. This is such a great place to go with friends, take clients or family/friends visiting... you just can't go wrong here."

  • "Excellent food; outstanding service, especially from the sommelier. Very noisy and very crowded; there was no room to stand while we waited for our party to assemble. Once seated, the noise was deafening and we "enjoyed" the shouted conversations at adjoining tables. The tables are shoe-horned together, apparently to maximize revenues (?). Very uncomfortable."

  • "The staff was friendly and attentive from the second we walked in the door. The promise of stone crab is what drew me to Joe's, so I started with "The Whale" appetizer: a priced-per-person spread that includes, for each, a stone crab claw, a king crab leg, a jumbo shrimp (cocktail), and a single portion of ceviche. It was enough to get my seafood fix. My wife and I both did the petite filet - a generous 8 ounces, perfectly prepared and served with extra house seasoning. As our sides we split Jennie's Mashed Potatoes and Sauteed Broccolini. Dessert was Havana Dream Pie and Peanut Butter Pie, as well as a piece of their special Key Lime Pie, which our (outstanding) waiter surprised us with on the house. Overall, great food, great service."

  • "It was our wedding anniversary, so after some searching...Joe's was our final pick based on many great reviews. Our server was amazing...even brought us each a glass of champagne right after we were seated and wished us a Happy Anniversary! The calamari was cooked perfectly. Right amount of breading, not rubbery at all, sauce was perfect. Crab cakes actually had more crab than breadcrumb filler. The crab was sweet and the sauce went perfectly with it. Asparagus was fresh and tender, not greasy, grilled just right! Baked potato tasted better than any other I've ever had (didn't know that was possible with potatoes), the grilled onion/sour cream topping was soooo good! I think (scratch that, are for sure) we're going back...soon!"

  • "The fried chicken is the best kept secret in Chicago! No matter what we all decide to order…..we always get fried chicken for the table!"

  • "Keep it moving folks. Nothing to see here. The best way to describe the food is "unimaginative." If you are looking for solid, uninspired, adequately executive steak or seafood, this is your place. Our table shared 4 sides: sweet potato fries, cauliflower, snap peas and one other. All were underseasoned and well, just plain boring. I'm not a cook, but this is the kind of stuff I make at home, only better. I had the crabcakes and they were fine. Same goes for the desserts. We shared key lime pie, apple pie and some chocolate concoction. Meh. On the upside, service was very good. Tables are cleared and water filled in the most unobtrusive manner possible. If you are looking for something "safe", this probably fits the bill."

  • "It has been a while since we have dined at Joe's, and though the menu had changed a bit, the food didn't disappoint. I had the pricey crab legs, but they were worth it. I recently had steamed crab legs elsewhere, and they were ok, but the crab legs here were excellent! The freshness came through (no ocean taste) and the meat was sweet. Definitely chilled is the way to go. My husband had the scallops, which were great, as well. Grilled asparagus, half order of onion strings, and the french fried sweets were as good as we remembered. Our waiter was great, and though they no longer offer a Gewurtztraminer by the glass, he brought me a rose to try that I found lovely. Excellent dinner!"

  • "I would return to try again , because i didn't try the steak. The crab legs was amazing! Please note that you have to be complete at arrival. (I do not understood this thing) "

  • "Whenever I'm in a city with a Joe's, I make reservations from home. I enjoy the stone crab so much that I have them shipped to me. This visit there was a slight wait and the maître de sent over a colossal appetizer as a thank you!"

  • "From the time we walk in the door, to the time we exit (happy and full of crab)...Joe's remains our absolute top pick for business lunches! Needless to say, the food is consistently fresh and delicious. The staff treats us like royalty. Jimmy and team members are so welcoming and friendly...and the service ALWAYS exceeds expectations!"

  • "I have been to 3 of the 4 locations. I can't wait to book at trip to DC and try the newest location. I have always had excellent good and service at Joe's. Highly recommend!!"

  • "Great for all, it's a classic place that also harnesses youthful energy. The food is spectacular, from our Dover Sole to bone in NY Strip, prepared to perfection! Drinks came slow from the bar, but the place was packed, and we started at 8 PM"

  • "The sea food was good but the steaks were not as good as expected. I believe the Joe's restaurant in Miami is much better."

  • "Totally enjoyed lunch at Joe's. Stone crabs are pricey but appetizer was great. Chilean Sea Bass with miso sauce was wonderful. Enjoyed chopped tomato salad, a generous portion for one. Topped off the lunch with splitting a great piece of Key Lime Pie. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable dining experience as in the past. Highly recommend ."

  • "Have lived in Chicago 1 1/2 years and people kept saying - "You need to go to Joe's Seafood, Prime Steak and Stone Crabs". Had to wait two weeks for a reservation when my husband and I finally decided to go. Place was packed on a Wednesday night at 7 PM. Service is very good - our waiter was attentive and helpful but didn't make a big deal out of the fact that is was our first time there (like some places). Split an order of the Stone Crabs which were wonderful (although a bit expensive for an appetizer). Ribeye steaks cooked just right and when he brought the special seasoning I thought how could it be that good - wrong! It really adds to the steaks. Best key lime pie think I have ever had."

  • "Great Steak and the lyonnaise Potato was outstanding."
    Dined on 4/9/2014
  • "Everything was delicious! The calamari and crab cake were to die for. Definitely worth the 10pm reservation after a 4 hour drive from Ohio. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and the staff kept our table clean. They were like ninjas! Steak and lobster was divine. We barely talked until dessert because we could not stop eating. Def going again the next time we visit Chicago."

  • "We tried the Tbone and the Filet mignon, cooked and salted to perfection. Ambience feels a little bit old school."
    Dined on 4/9/2014
  • "Not my first time to Joes, but since it is hard to get in to, I don't go Often. Busy, lively atmosphere. Our waiter from Seattle was good, Albeit sweating a ton by the end of our meal. Steaks were good, so Was the mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. Key lime pie made For a lovely meal."

  • "Dined at Joe's for the first time and was blown away by the service. When we told the server it was our first visit, he offered to set up a small plate option for us to try a variety of dishes. We told him the price point, he asked some questions about preferences, and the server did an incredible job to pick a broad range of choices. All of the dishes were incredible and the amount/quality of seafood for the money was very reasonable. I will definitely be back."

  • "Great service, knowledge of the food and wine list"
    Dined on 4/8/2014
  • "Our server was very, very thorough about the choices and specials. Our food was delivered promptly. Only issue was that the stone crabs weren't as delicate in peeling off the shell as in the past. Desserts were the best!"
    Dined on 4/7/2014
  • "I had the salmon and my husband ordered the fish tacos - we were both very happy with our meals! Our server, Steve K, was also very nice and our food was brought out promptly."
    Dined on 4/8/2014
  • "We had a large party of 8 and none of us were disappointed in the quality of the food. Our waiter was personable and made some good suggestions. The busboys (men actually) were a pest however because as soon as you put a fork down they took it away. It was clear they were pushing us along which I found distracting. I almost said something to our waiter to have the guy take a chill pill. So the fish was excellent and the prime steaks were done to perfection. The sides were a bit so so but if you want to carb load take the mac and cheese. Wonderful. My only disappointment was with the bread. Poor quality. The prices are steep for most items on the menu but if you can splurge it was worth it."

  • "It was our first visit to this restaurant and the staff was very, very kind and welcome us very well. He explain the menu in details, guided us to great choices of wine, drinks and food. Definitely he made the difference and made our experience their remarkable. We will go there again. The crab cake is one of the best in Chicago."

  • "Have never been disappointed in service or food whether I've come for luncheon dates, dinner or special occasion. Noise level is a bit high due to the size of the dining room itself which holds a lot of people; not sure their is an answer to that, but has never taken away from my enjoying your restaurant. Also, love the fact you are a contributor to the Thursday-Friday dinners at Catholic Charity. All the more reason to choose Joe's over any other restaurant."

  • "First, our server Liz was amazing. No rush, recommendations were spot on, let us order course by course. Second, food was fresh and exactly what we expected. Had the bone in Halibut and would do it again! My husband loved bone in ribeye! Crab cake and crab claw appetizers, desserts were delicious! Crazy twist, we overpaid the check by mistake (paid it twice) and when we realized it in the morning, Liz had alerted the manager after we left and our money was waiting for us. We had not been there in years and many people told us to avoid this place because it was touristy, but maybe because our reservation was at 10pm on a Saturday night everyone looked like locals. Would go back it a hot minute! Great way to spend or 20th wedding anniversary!"

    Dined on 4/5/2014
  • "So, the food is very good, the service is very good, the ambience is very good and I would recommend this place to friends, but I'm saying it's not quite worth it? Yep, that's the contradiction at Joe's. Even with a reservation, there's always a bit of a hassle getting seated and you end up standing on top of bar diners while you wait. The food is great, but the prices are greater, especially when compared with Lettuce's other seafood place, Shaw's, a few blocks away. We end up here a couple of times in a year. It would be more frequent if they could make a relatively small number of adjustments--although the place is in demand enough that I doubt they'll be rushing to make changes on the basis of this review."

  • "The Blue crab was sensational. The Sea bass was also absolutely wonderful. The service there was perfect, there if you need something and not when you want to be alone with your food."
