  • "It's a great restaurant, great location, and great food !!!! (Lots of greats !!) The staff are very nice and attentive, knowledgeable of their menu and wine list...I would recommend making a reservation though, the place is always crowded....."

  • "Despite the fact that this restaurant was packed to the gills and moving a mile a minute - and at top volume! - our experience was very good. We were seated within 5 minutes of our reservation time and the host was very gracious. Our server was attentive and friendly. Our food came out very fast and was delicious. All in all, a great experience."

  • "We've been to several other Joe's in the past, all good experiences. Unfortunately, this was a disaster from start to finish. Although we ordered entrees *after* we received our app, they still came out immediately. Then the waitress & her assistants tended to everyone except us...plates and glasses were stacking up on the table and nobody seemed to care. I had my 8-month old with me - maybe that was her problem. But given the number of strollers parked at the door, this establishment clearly caters to families, so you'd think there would be a bit more hospitality. Nope. And the baby was a complete angel. Even nearby diners commented on how good she was! The view is great & food is good, but overpriced for the lack of service."

  • "Wouldn't honor the request for an outdoor table w/a waterfront view. We opted to keep our reservation a lot rather than wait an extra 30-45 mins for the outdoor waitlist. Exorbitant wine menu (bottle costs more than 4 glasses), the rib eye was a non descript low grade cut & the salmon tasted like it had been soaked in butter. Our overpriced drinks arrived after our entrees were delivered & the waiter had to be requested to bring our check. The crowd consisted of families that had ransacked the tables & left the waitstaff fumbling. There was a pointless employee hovering nearby and surveying occupancy every 10 mins which added to the ridiculousness. Won't be going back and will be advising friends not to waste their money."

  • "A friend suggested open table. I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to book a reservation. I would definately recommend open table to anyone."

  • "I have eaten at various Joe's locations over many years. This particular meal was the worst by far of any meal I've ever had at Joe's and I feel that this location emphasizes its water view at the expense of quality. Two in my party ordered the tuna tartare appetizer. Both plates smelled fishy and appeared to be poor quality tuna. They were returned to the kitchen. Two salads were forgotten. One main dish, salmon, was terribly overcooked. A ribeye was almost 80% fat. A manager came over and asked how everything was. We told him of our disappointment with the quality of the food given our experiences at other Joe's locations, mainly Newbury Street. He simply replied that all locations use the same vendors, and that was all. Avoid this one."

  • "The service was great, our waitress was attentive and friendly. However, the food was not worth the price that we paid for it. A salad that was priced $20 and was advertised as "field greens" came with iceberg lettuce and ahi tuna that was somehow stale and chewy. We also ordered a side of summer vegetables that arrived at the table stone cold in the middle. I might go back for a drink on the deck, but I do not think I will eat here again."

  • "Been to this restaurant several times now and this was by far the worst experience. The service was incredibly slow, from beginning to end. and when our meal finally arrived it was cold. I think our waiter was part time cook and part time waiter because I barely ever saw him. The manager was somehow tipped off to slow service and he did the right thing - he apologized and said our entire bill (food and drinks) would be on him. I give the manager a lot of credit for doing the right thing, most places would not do this I don't think. It is because of this that I would probably give Joe's another shot."

  • " food lacking quality. The waitress left lots of empty glasses on the table. Either remove or refill."

  • "This restaurant has a policy that you can only reserve indoor seating, and not the outdoor seating. We chose this restaurant specifically because we wanted to eat by the water, so we "had to go to the bottom of the list" and decided to wait for a waterside table. We specifically requested a waterside table in the reservation, but apparently they don't read that comment section. Everything else was wonderful, but having to wait even though we had a reservation kind of sucked."

  • "I had dinner with my parents and husband on Father's Day. We ordered entrees & drinks. For my meal I asked for my salad and soup to come out at the same time (no one else got appetizers). However, when the food arrived (ribs, steak, and salmon), it was just my salad, no soup. Things happen, no problem, I asked the waitress for my soup, "no problem." 10 min later I asked a bus boy to check on my soup, "no problem". No soup. Soup never arrived. 15 minutes after asking for the check we see that we have been charged for soup, and my Dad's glass of wine has been charged as a bottle. It took another 30 minutes to resolve this. No apologies, no rushing to fix it. My Dad left fuming. Not how I wanted to spend Father's Day."

  • "We made a reservation the evening before, so had no problem getting a table. The service was really poor, but the food was very good. We waited forever for everything, had to keep looking for the waitress, asking for utensils, begging to get out coffee! Given a waiter that knew what they were doing, it might have been a wonderful experience...."

  • "The food was delicious and the seafood tasted really fresh! However our waitress never brought up bread and butter and was very slow in refilling our water cups. The hamburger my husband got was suppose to get a fried egg on it. When we asked the waitress about it she brushed off the question and said, "I'm new here so I don't know the menu well." She should have asked the cook and taken back the burger to get the fried egg on it as it states on the menu. Having been a waitress myself for many years, I'd say the young lady has a lot to learn."

  • "I was disappointed that few of the menu items I read on line were not available at the restaurant . As a vegetarian who doesn't eat fish not may choices were available . I don't consider a frozen processed veggie burger a fresh or tasty option"

  • "We sat on the patio for brunch on a Sunday. Great views, not too long of a wait. Not every table was seated on the patio but it took our waitress 10 minutes to come to our table once we sat down. we asked for coffee (for brunch) and she said she had to brew a pot which is fine. We didn't get our coffee until after our food came. I requested the easiest thing to make on the menu (eggs & toast, aka freestyle). My eggs were fine, toast was completely burnt. Once we got our check, another 10 minutes before she took our bill and then another 10 minutes to give it back to us. Awful service, and the manager also doesn't assist. He just stands outside and enjoys the sun."

  • "After a day in the city, I chose Joe's for a nice place to eat. I was impressed by the food and drink selection. Our waiter was fast and attentive despite it being very busy. My only complaint would be that the walking space is VERY narrow because of how close they pack the tables. Otherwise it was wonderful and we will be back!"

  • "The view (we sat outside on a beautiful sunny afternoon) of the harbor was great. The food was meh, the service was extremely poor. We were halfway done with our mediocre bar food by the time the first round of waters came by. Waitress was rude and dismissive. If you're not in a rush and want a great view.... head here. If you want great food or service, go elsewhere."

Joe's is a great spot to go before or after the show :)Great service and they are very accommodating to Gluten free allergy diet .Our waitress was recently new to the restaurant and did a fabulous job! Highly recommend! Great food, service and atmosphere! "

  • "I've gone to this restaurant a few times, and I've never had any complaints. My first Joe's experience was at the Newbury st location and it was fabulous. I have to say the waterfront location is my favorite. I do recommend making a reservation because the wait is always at least 30 minutes long. I highly recommend the spinach and artichoke dip for an appetizer; it's the best one I've ever had! Of course I had to try the infamous Joe's burger. I thought it was cooked well and it was very tasty, but just a mess to eat. They use an egg roll for the burger. Although the roll is delicious, it does break apart easily and make it hard to keep the sandwich together. All in all, great food and great service. "

  • "Hostess/waitress ((Allison ?) was very good, engaged my business clients in great dialog, made foreign visitors feel at home and they remembered what a great place Joes was to eat, and said to me that they would recommend Joes on the waterfront to any of their co-workers traveling to Boston. I have not had chance to dine outside, but look forward to it when the weather warms up... Chris J. "

  • "While I enjoyed brunch, one of the reasons I brought my friends here was because of the free bloody mary you'd get for free with your meal. Unfortunately they no longer offer that. I don't know if I'd return for brunch, as it was super expensive to have to pay for breakfast and a bloody mary. So overall, it was good, but also very disappointing."

  • "Fun, casual place to go with very nice menu and consistently good food. I love the crab cakes. My husband loves the fish and chips. Salads are good too. For those who have a gluten allergy, Joe's is one of the best places in terms of allergy training of staff, careful attention and menu options. They provide special gluten free rolls too."

  • "We had a dinner for 6, had the best table in the house, corner with a view of the city. We were all talking and servers were kind and patient with us. My father in law didn't like his chicken pot pie (more of a stew) and they quickly removed and replaced with a bowl of chowder more to his liking. Families all around us but in a nice, casual way, tourists and locals. Have been here for drinks too, great location in the North End. It was a good pick for a group with varied tastes. Parking was easy in lot short walk away, we will be back."

  • "I went with a group of friends on a Saturday evening. Two of us arrived early and had a drink at the bar. The bartender was good. Our reservation was honored when the rest of the party arrived on time. The server was EXCELLENT - I hate I can not recall her name. The wings and calamari were great appetizers. Two of us had the fish and chips and it was just ok. One of us ordered prime rib that he enjoyed. The other had mac/cheese but I forget which add-in. It was just ok as well. The bar drinks were good all around - but my "forever young" drink at the bar tasted different than my "forever young" brought to the table - and it lacked blackberries. They both tasted good - but were not the same drink. We'll be back for drinks and apps"

  • "The food was okay but the waitress was CLEARLY upset that she didn't have a lot of tables on a Saturday night. She was pushing us to buy drinks and when I changed my order of a coke to a seltzer water real quick (on a diet), she rolled her eyes. She was throwing things down on the table, being short with us, just awful and I saw other tables were upset too. Just ruined everything."
