Joe Muer SeafoodBirthday for the little womanWell she wanted to go and we were not disappointed. With the river view, lots of attention, a great meal and a little something for the sweet tooth, it was a great evening. Monday night was busier than I thought but we waited for nothing. Highest recommendation. Maybe I will do lunch at the sushi bar.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMHappy Every TimeWe have gone several times for special occasions and every time the staff at Joe Muer makes us feel special for choosing them as the restaurant we decided to dine at. They accommodate special requests. The food is remarkable and we recommend it to EVERYONE. TRY THE LOBSTER BISQUE, you will not be disappointed.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently the best diningConsistently the best dining experience available.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAusome serviceThe service is wonderful and the food is overall good. My zip sauce was a little to rich this time, but the fillet was cooked perfectly.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial OccasionThe service was good, the view was wonderful, and the food was spectacular. So happy the Andiamo Group has brought back this gem to Detroit. It was always "the place" my family would celebrate special occasions or accomplishments. It was sorely missed but so happy it is back! This was my graduation dinner and every bite melted in my mouth (heaven!). I highly recommend the Ahi Tuna!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day DinnerVery Nice! Food was great. Would suggest more variety of side Items (Example sauteed spinach instead of cremed spinach).
Waiter was very friendly.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding FoodI had the halibut special it was amazing! I keep talking about it! The coconut cake was delicious!! Great friendly accurate staff!! Definately my new favorite restaurant!!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMLandmark anniversaryAfter hearing from my daughter about Joe Muer's and having gone to the "old Joe Muer's" I thought this would be the right place to celebrate our 30th anniversary. We were not disapointed!! Starting with our waiter. We placed our complete order with him and he timed it perfectly! Never felt rushed nor did we wait for the next course. The food was very good but my husbands Lobster Bisque was a bit strong while my Mushroom Bisque was delightful. My husband has Scallops wrapped in Bacon (great smoky flavor) and I had the Barramundi on the waiters suggestion. Again he didn't let us down! A bottle of Prosecco with dinner was perfect. After Sambuccas were ordered our waiter brought out a slice of cake with a candle. The perfect anniversary dinner!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMFresh, classy and expensiveThis is a great seafood restaurant serving the freshest seafood you can get in Detroit, bare none. Be prepared to pay top $ for a good martini ($15) glass of Malbec ($12) 1/2 dozen oysters ($15) and $3.50 for a cup of coffee.
The view and service are excellent.
Great place for a special dinner. Bring extra $.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding Dining ExperienceJoe Muer Seafood is the first restaurant that comes to mind when I want to make an ordinary occasion, extraordinary. Whether celebrating that special day, creating a memorable moment or just meeting a long time friend for lunch, you can always count on Joe Muer's to take it over the top! From the ambience, that takes your breathe away; the spectacular food, that exceeds expectations; to the service, that makes you feel like royalty, you'll long remember the experience.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWifey's 50th BirthdayWe celebrated my wife's 50th birthday with dinner at Joe Muer.
We often frequented the old Joe Muer restaurant on Gratiot, the restaurant now located in the RenCen overlooking the Detroit River did not disappoint us. We had the same "great" experience. A great evening of food, service. Our meals of lobster tail and blackened catfish were great.
Joe Muer actually came by our table and we reminisced about the Gratiot location and how the owner of Andiamo's influenced his decision to open the RenCen location. We're happy he decided to re-open the restaurant. Again, we had a great time.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMA lovely meal with fine service,A lovely meal with fine service, in a room overlooking the Detroit River and Windsor, Canada. Began with Ceviche and Scallops all Muer. The ceviche was fresh and beautiful. The scallops were perfect - buttery, succulent, perfectly prepared and top notch quality. Tasted 3 soups - New England Clam chowder, lobster bisque, and a wild mushroom cream soup. All were very good, well prepared, not over seasoned, and full of flavor. Entrees were a red grouper that was very fresh, and a king salmon. Like the best wild salmon there was a milky white between the flakes. It was overdone, which was the only misstep of the night for this wonderful restaurant. A terrific place to dine, with beautiful views, wonderful fresh food, and fine service.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMBest in DetroitJoe Muer's has awesome food and a fantastic wine list. We had a waiter from the original Joe Muer's who was awesome! He suggeted a wonderful bottle of wine to go with our dinner. Overall, one of the best dinners we've ever had. So glad this place is back!!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place. You'll love itWonderful restaurant. You will not regret the choice. It's a little pricey but just as in life... You get what you pay for. Ask for Window seating. The view is great and that is where the restaurant seems to come alive. I recommend the Salmon. It's to die for.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMMy perfect birthdayWe had a stellar dining experience. Would highly recommend this restaurant. Our waitress Vanessa was knowledgeable, helpful and so friendly! We will return and request her for our next visit. I'm still thinking about the amazing Australian lobster tail and signature coconut cake we had -- yum:)4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, excellent service.Great food, excellent service. But seemed somewhat noisy.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful place to celebrateWonderful place to celebrate a 50th Birthday. The hit of the night was meeting Mr. Joe Muer himself- such a charming man! We will be back for another special occasion.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food, service, andExcellent food, service, and amazing view. Had their unique surf and turf----braised ribs and scallops which was delicious. Ended the evening with their signature coconut cake---one of my all time favorite desserts. This is not the first time I've been to Joe Muer's and it definitely wouldn't be the last time.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMTo say the least I was impressed. To say the least I was impressed. I own a restaurant, as a result I look at things differently than most people. Joe Muer is here to stay! Food was fantastic! but even better than the food was the service. Our waitress Alyssa was amazing. I've been to a lot of restuarants and I've been through a lot of waiters and waitresses and I've never been so impressed. I always tell my wait staff that service is more important than the food itself. I have found that the service makes the food taste better. In this case the food was great and the service made it taste even better. Alyssa is going to run her own restaurant in the near future. Mark my words.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMNTED A DESERT OR ANOTHER DRINKNTED A DESERT OR ANOTHER DRINK WE PAID AND WALK OUT 8 DISSAPOINTED CUSTOMERS .4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWe sat at a booth with a wonderfulWe sat at a booth with a wonderful view of the Detroit river and Canada. The seat back was shared with the party behind us and every time they moved is shook the entire bench we were sitting on. Do not sit in a booth at time resaurant it will ruin the entire meal4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMTook my wife there for herTook my wife there for her birthday. Great service, music, food and view. I recommend it for a really special dinner.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMA Great Downtown Detroit restaurantAs we have experienced in the past, Joe Muer's is an excellent choice, on the moderately high to expensive side but well worth the price. Service on this occasion was below the high standards, mainly because it seemed the waiter had too many tables to watch. We were in no hurry so the slight inconveniences were just minor.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat view, food, & service! We loved the size and openness of the restaurant with its the view of the Deroit River and neighboring Canada. Although a seafood restaurant, it does offer steak and its filet mignon with zip sauce was amazing! Their signature dessert is the coconut cake which was delicious. Their service, too, was outstanding with very friendly and attentive staff.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat evening. The food wasGreat evening. The food was amazing and the service was outstanding. We will be back.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMVery nice dinner, serviceVery nice dinner, service and wait staff very nice.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the Best Birthdays Ever....Our experience at Joe's was awesome. The staff were very attentive and great. Our server, Calvin, made my birthday excellent by providing over the top service.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWe came for my Mother's retirementWe came for my Mother's retirement dinner. They made her feel so special, and we enjoyed every minute. The food was beyond excellent; I could go back every day for a week and still not have tried all the dishes I wanted to try. A marvellous experience!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMA bit disappointed with saladA bit disappointed with salad presentation. Otherwise food and service was excellent.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMA Resturant with CharmOverall I was very pleased. I took business colleagues from Pittsburgh to this resturant and both the food and service was very good. I appreciated that I felt we were being taken care of but that the resturant was not too pretentiuos. I also enjoyed the view and can see that Detroit is really working on the riverfront to make it more inviting.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMJoe Muer - 5 Stars.Sushi is the best I've had, which surprised me as they beat out pure sushi restaurants that I have frequented.
The Halibut Special was just that....special.
Highly recommend this place for great food, great view of the Detroit River, friendly and entertaining staff.
I'm now a regular.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMBack to the FutureRevives the great Joe Muer traditions for excellence in food and service. Knowledgeable wait staff (including one of Joe Muers original waiters). Nice re imagining of the space.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time there - Our serverFirst time there - Our server Vanessa was great - ask for her!!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our fourth time visitingThis was our fourth time visiting Joe Muer Seafood, and I think it is the best meal I have had so far! They are what a nice restaurant should be. Waitstaff is always attentive, friendly, not overbearing. The food is outstanding, prepared correctly, and fresh (important for seafood!). Lovely view of the detroit river. Decor is warm and inviting. Fianlly tried the coconut cake this time, and it was amazing. Great for a special occasion.
Thank you to the staff, managers, and owners for making this such a great place!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, unbelievably greatGreat food, unbelievably great service. Expensive but a great place for a special occasion.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome dinner experience! We attended Joe Muer's for our very first time to celebrate our wedding anniversary with another couple. We had Joe for a waiter who was extremely attentive and knowledgeable. The ambiance was lovely, the food was amazing and the drinks were very much "free poured". We were so full when we left it was hard to walk! My ONLY complaint was that having made the reservations so far in advance (5-6 weeks), and indicating that it was a special occasion I would have been much happier at a scenic view table rather than stuck in a back corner near the servery. We are from Windsor Canada and would have appreciated enjoying our meal with a view of our beautiful city at night! We will definitely be back again in the very near future!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat meal at a Detroit institutionA party of four. We had a great meal! The service was top notch as was the food. It was nice to meet Mr. Muer. He went table to table talking to the guests.
Easy to park with the $10.00 valet parking. A great experience and I'd go back again anytime.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWE HAVE BEEN ENJOYING JOEWE HAVE BEEN ENJOYING JOE MUER SEAFOOD SINCE 1969. THE RESTAURANT HAS CHANGED LOCATION BUT THAT IS ALL THAT HAS CHANGED. THE FOOD AND SERVICE IS OUTSTANDING AND WE ENJOYED OUR FRIDAY NIGHT DINNER VERY MUCH. FIRST CLASS AND ONE OF THE BEST RESTAURANTS IN DOWNTOWN DETROIT.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall very good resturant,Overall very good resturant, slthough a bit pricey.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWe thoroughly enjoyed outWe thoroughly enjoyed out dinning experience at your restaurant. The six of us who are all Canadians were celebrating our wedding anniversaries in April. The food, service ambiance and view from our window seat made it a special evening. We look forward to our next time.
Thanks,
Gary Hillier4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMServer was great. He was sensitiveServer was great. He was sensitive and noticed details, warm and engaging when we wanted it but mot too intrusive. All the details were well done; amuse bouche, quality sides, not too much dressing on the salad, etc. I've been there before and it felt like they were just phoning it in--but this night everything was great. Looking forward to returning.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome evening at Joe MuerReally a wonderful environment. Great for that special occasion. Didn't realized the Detroit river could be so enchanting.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMService was excellent. .MyService was excellent. .My perch was supposed to be sauteed, it was dry and I think it was fried, the spinach was magnificently prepared...the usual bean appetizer was not what I remember. Liked then one at Peppinos in walled lake much better..my friends had the Dover sole and filet. They loved theirs. The coconut cake was Greta4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful views of the DetroitBeautiful views of the Detroit River and windsor - service was superb, food excellent.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMMy biggest complaint was lighting. My biggest complaint was lighting. The sun was hitting me right in the eyes from all sorts of angles on account of the many mirrored and glass surfaces in the place. It's a shame too with the view of the river and what not.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was great and serviceFood was great and service was great. We will be back.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMHappy Birthday! The waiters made this experience wonderful. Ask for Tim & Walter4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMReservation was for 9:45pmReservation was for 9:45pm on a Friday night, wasn't sure how the food/service would turn out. Our server Keith was attentive, helpful, and interesting to chat with. Will definitely ask for him when I go back.
Food:
Lobster Bisque - excellent (I'm no expert on lobster bisque so just my opinion)
Oysters Rockefeller - great...Hot but not piping burn-your-tongue-off hot
NY strip steak - cooked perfectly. (medium) Nice marbling
Macaroni and Cheese - great...a couple steps above what i consider good mac n cheese
Creamed Spinach - great...creamy enough to be rich but not overpower the spinach
Overall experience was excellent, only gripe is prices are ~10 dollars too high on certain dishes IMO.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were underdressed and stillWe were underdressed and still accepted for lunch, which was greatly appreciated. Our food was good, but the restaurant was better. The view was awesome, the service above average. I plan to return and try some other menu items, including the sushi and raw bar, which looked excellent.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMBest in Town! This was one of the best meals I've had in a long time! I have been raving about it to everyone I see. The coconut cake for dessert was exceptional and addicting. I am gonna be back there soon! The service was one of a kind.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AM
