Diner Reviews
  • "Met a client there for dinner. Arrived a bit early, Julie behind the bar was very friendly and knowledgeable in regards to the wine. We had to push back the reservation a bit, hostess was very accomodative. Had the Barramundi........delicious. Enjoyed the view of the river, a great meal, and attentive service. Will definitely be back."

  • "We made reservations and were seated by the door and service station. The waitress introduced herself and left without taking the drink and appetizer order. The bread basket arrived with a Tbs of smoked fish pate and white beans. One entre was inedible. Bad fish!. After everyone had eaten we were asked if the food was good. NO! 1st the manager comes to explain the fish was fresh and I didn't understand the preparation. Next we are offered another entre after everyone has finished eating. Finally after being insulted that I don't know the difference between good and bad fish the entre was removed from our bill. I expected more from a $30-50 an entre restaurant."

  • "We had an absolutely perfect evening on July 2. The food, service, atmosphere was excellent. Cassie, our server was polite, well informed and charming. We were totally pleased. I was very satisfied with all her suggestions. We try to do something interesting and exciting every year. Joe Muers made it happen, every course we had was perfect."

  • "I had a 7:30 reservation and had arrived at 7:20. When I gave my name they heard it wrong and then I had to spell it. The hostess said that I was already seated. The other hostess had enough sense to seat me since there was only 3 other tables being used at the time. It took 20 minutes for a waiter to get to us and take our order. If not for the food and the guys going around filling the water glasses I would have left. When I ordered the waiter got the order wrong and later blamed the piano player for being to loud. The food was amazing but I would not want any one to have to suffer the same as I had on this occasion."

  • "Joe Muer Seafood ALWAYS lives up to what is expected! I have been a few times and have never had a single issue. The service is always outstanding and the food is among the best I have ever had. The atmosphere and scenic views are absolutely beautiful, and regardless of whether you sit inside or out, you are guaranteed to have a great dining experience."

  • "The service and food was exceptional and it eas a perfect place to celebrate my birthday. I regularly order Ahi Tuna and this may very well have been the best I ever had. Our waiter was fantastic. This was my second visit and it's better than I remember. I will be back!"

  • "Absolutely wonderful dining experience from start to finish. Not only were our seafood dishes great but the steaks as well. The filet ( served w/ the traditional surf & turf ) along with the 18 oz. Delmonico, are as good as any local chop house ( if not better!! ) Save room dessert as you would be sad to miss the coconut cake!"

  • "We came here for a celebration dinner and usually had good experiences in the past. The waitress was unwelcoming and told us we couldn't order soups and salads as part of our appetizer order and would rather come back with the apps and drinks before she took that order, we said ok. After 35 minutes of waiting for our apps and drinks, we asked to see a manager. We told the manager how long we had been waiting and he quickly came back with the drinks and apps, only the appetizer order was wrong. We ate what he brought us anyway because we were tired of waiting. The waitress finally returned about 40 minutes later and apologized claiming she had to deal with a fire at another table? Nobody understood what that meant. All around bad service!!"

  • "We had a group of eight with a 6:45 pm reservation, but because we didn't all know each other, we spent about 30 minutes in the bar getting acquainted (didn't mean to be rude but it just happened) and the staff never pushed us. When the hostess came by to see if we were ready to be seated, I felt bad that we had spent so much time ignoring our reservation time, but she was very gracious. Our waiter was excellent, with intimate knowledge of the menu. He was also very patient with our large group. He was also very attentive, refilling our wine frequently and checking to see if we needed anything. The food was excellent-we all cleaned our plates- and the view of the Canada across river just added to the overall great experience."

  • "We hosted friends from Arizona who were traveling back to Michigan for a high school reunion. We suggested Joe Muer as we want a entertaining place with excellent food and atmosphere. Everything went perfect including the table location, which provided our guests a great view of the river and Windsor City Lights - we will be back."

  • "I have had a lifetime of experience at Joe Muer's which is a long time as I am 76 years old. I have always been told to wait six months to a year before trying a new restaurant. I hope I didn't wait too long. The food, service, and ambience was great. I will be back often."

  • "This was our first time dining at Joe Muer's. It was the most awesome dining experience we have ever had. We have been to many fine dining restaurants, however, Joe Muer's is a 5 star in every category. Looking forward to return."

  • "My new favorite place in the D. No better place exists on the planet to have perch....tiny fillets, delicately prepared and a tartar sauce to die for. Add the creamed spinach (even I cannot make it better) and stewed tomatoes. WOW"

  • "Excellent place for special dinner. The freshest of seafood. Knowledgeable staff."

  • "Get the fish. I had a special -- halibut on crab cakes. Superbly prepared, subtle and tasty. Scallop appetizer was equally out of this world. They didn't have a table for me at my reserved time and put up a fuss when I refused to sit at the bar. This is a point against the service but it would be an injustice to count it against the food. Just demand good service and it shall arrive. The setting is bizarre -- second floor of REN center makes you feel like you wandered behind the scenes of a convention display area. Don't let Detroit's urban planning mistakes from the 1970s keep you from trying one of the best restaurants you are likely to find."

  • "Many restaurants are closed on Mondays but chose Joe Muer's for its reputation and location to enjoy with an out of town guest. Was a perfect choice. The view, our waiter, the food and wine were all excellent. Only negative is that the noise level is high as even on a Monday it was quite busy but that is good for the city and the restaurant. After a group of 16 seated right by us left, it was much more pleasant."

  • "I booked a table one week in advance for a special ocasion and asked in my reservation for a nice table facing the river. Neither was a nice table nor was facing to the river. The service was bad, our waiter didn't ask us for anything to drink till we, after 15 minutes, asked him for a drink. He didn't neither told us the special dishes of the day and, as I have been several times there and I knew they normally have something out of the menu, I had to ask him for them. It took a long till the brought us the food and they brought all the appetizers at once. As the table the gave us was very small (comfortable for 2 people while we were 4) it was very uncomfortable for us to eat. I will doubt on coming again on a saturday."

  • "Attended Friday evening and saw Joe Muer himself sitting at a table with some of his friends. Service and food quality were excellent, larger portions than one really needs but I guess we can indulge occasionally. Piano player was great entertainment but the chatter noise level was distracting. Perhaps the wooden baffles hanging from the ceiling could be covered with sound absorbing material for improved ambiance! Even though a dress code is identified several patrons, who appeared to be regular clients, dressed inappropriately! Either drop the suggested dress code (business casual, to me doesn't include sloppy jeans and T-shirts), or ask the clients to be more respectful! Still an excellent dining experience; will be back soon! "

  • "Every time I visit, I always have a great service but the food does not meet up to the quality of the price! I know there are several chefs and they all have different way of cooking but some dishes are extremely salty whereas some dishes has no taste to them at all. If the kitchen would take care about the actual taste of the food rather than the presentation, I would visit this restaurant a little more. "
