We have dined at J House many times and it's always been terrific. The food is wonderful, nice presentation, hip & comfortable atmosphere, interesting wine list, affable service. Always a winner. We have brought several friends here and everyone tells they will be back. Recommendations: the crispy chicken. It's just delicious.

The restaurant was busy, but it was calm and relaxing. The food was excellent...I had a hard time choosing both my entrée and my appetizer (they all sounded so delicious) and I couldn't have been happier with my selections...grilled prawns and crispy chicken... the atmosphere was wonderfully romantic and private, but still able to feel part of the action...the chairs were comfortable too. The staff was effecient without being over bearing....and they didn't try to push us out the door when we were done eating...I think this is my new "go to" restaurant....

Perhaps they were just really short waiters, but the service was very poor (and it appeared that way for other diners who kept asking for their waiters). We had a reservation for 8pm and were not seated until 8:20 and then we couldn't get a waiter to come over and take our order... we finally got hostess to come take our order. The poor level of service continued through the whole meal. So, while the food was good, it isn't worth the feeling frustrated throughout the evenning.

I give up on this place. This was my third time at Eleven14 and it was terrible. The service was basically non existent. I had to chase the waiter down to order, ask for water, and for the check. The food was fair at best. Its a shame as the indoor space and the outdoor bar are really great. I would only recommend going here for drinks.

There was a negative vibe from the start when the person at the reservation desk, ignore us for a couple of mnutes while he looked at something on the computer screen. When he then led us to our table, he dropped the breakfast menus on the table and walked away never pulling the table out to seat my wife. Since this was Father's Day Sunday, we were expecting a brunch menu? When someone finally came over to our table we asked if they were serving brunch and he responded that they were and gave us brunch menus. The place was virtually empty but, after waiting an interminable amount of time without service, we decided that this was a very bad idea and got up and left. We won't be back there was absolutely no excuse for their performance).

We have been here several times and came for an adult birthday celebration. Food changed, menu changed, no music and dishes, while good, were plated without imagination. By 8:30 pm certain appetizers were no longer available. Not expecting guests? The risotto looked like a bowl of gruel. That's the best you can do? Fail. There were families with little children on a Saturday night. Guess they are looking for a different diner base. not going back too soon.

We dined at J House on Mother's day, and had a lovely time. Unfortunately, two of the six items on the entree menu were sold out, and so two of out party of four had to settle for an alternative dish. The food tasty, but not imaginative either in preparation or presentation. Further, nothing more than a brief apology by the waiter was heard. I believe the manager should have stopped by to say / do something. There are plenty of places to dine in out area....

  • Something wrong on management

I think the restaurant is something wrong on management. We went there on Mother's Day and the tables are only 1/3 filled and now I know why. The server knows how to clean the table but does not know how to serve. He forgot my wife's wine to serve and no follow up to serve. The food was excellent but took long time to serve. The problem was dessert. There are 4 on the menu and 2 were not there. Our booking was 0630pm so that it should not be sold out particularly only 1/3 full. Unless they change the way for service, can't go again. It was nice day and outside patio was great so that it's shame.

I choose this restaurant based on the menu posted on line. However, the restaurant and hotel was recently renovated and a complete change to the menu. This is very difficult for diners when you have guests with certain dietary restrictions. In addition, there was a private party downstairs and the DJ's music reverberated through the floor upstairs.

The bar & restaurant is now spotless and opened it up resulting in a bright new venue. Rocco were great, polished and friendly. Louis knows 60+ beers and wines off the top of his head and made good recommendations. So glad they brought in a new team because I stopped going due to the old manager and his team, they were a bit phony and uppity.. The food was great, so many more choices and not so heavy. The use of herbs and organics was a welcome to my senses. The Kale Salad, beet dish and Sesame Salad were amazing. JHouse HOME is fun, sophisticated and now affordable. Chef Anthony is brilliant and caring and made us feel like we were in his kitchen. Overall it was a fantastic evening.

  • Home of the $15 well margarita
    HonestAbeVIP
    Dined on 4/20/2014
We enjoyed lunch here the first week of the new opening. We ordered the fried mixed seafood to start and it was fresh but very small (served in a bowl the size of an average soup bowl). We also ordered 2 pastas, one a bolognase and the other a clams casino. Both were tasty but, again, small. My regular margarita was, again, small (6 oz.) but generously poured. It was a $15 margarita, with no special tequila requested. Just to be sure, we asked, and the $15 was correct. Hey, I get that the restaurant is in an expensive zip code......but central London prices in Connecticut? Overall, good atmosphere, convenient location but small portions that are overpriced, especially...very overpriced drinks.

A very strange menu with strong tastes was a complete turn off. It took our party of three about twenty minutes to find something to order. Best for young twenty somethings looking for a nice lunch or perhaps a vibrant dinner. Spaghetti and Meatballs were over sauced in what tasted like a sugary syrup.

This is our second visit. The service is terrible. The waiter did NOT know how to do his job. The food is just okay. The prices are VERY HIGH so the service should match and it does NOT. We shall NOT return Once it goes under, it should lower the food prices or just become a bar scene. My pancakes would have been better at iHOP and more reasonably priced.
