A word from Indaco
Genuine Italian flavors fill an airy, modern space accented by lime-wash, white brick, blonde butcher block and silver lighting pendants. An antique pizza peel dating to the 1850s hangs on the wall, portraying Indaco’s dedication to authenticity. The restaurant boasts a craft cocktail program featuring Italian classics such as the Negroni and amaro on tap and housemade Italian sodas.   • "A relative of ours was celebrating her 50th birthday so we thought Indaco would be a great place to start the evening with dinner. Our hostess was very welcoming. After that, our dining experience went downhill. The Indaco website says their happy hour specials are 5-7pm daily, so we were looking forward to starting off with some specials. Our server told us that doesn't apply to Friday or Saturday (visited Friday). Hopefully they've taken "daily" off their website. They also said they'd bring out a special birthday dessert for our relative (never happened, though they did bring her champagne). The high prices don't match the taste/portion sizes. If you want great Italian food on the peninsula, we highly recommend Il Cortile Del Re."

  • "This place was REALLY CROWDED, but we had our Open Table reservations and were sat right down. Lively place, but really loud. The hard surfaces in the restaurant along with the crowd make it very hard to talk to your dinner companion. The food and service were excellent. My wife had a whole baked red snapper which I tasted. It was very good. Moist, not overdone. Very simply prepared. I had the fennel sausage pizza which was very good. My son and his girlfriend had the Pepper based pasta dish. This was really good with subtle flavor and perfectly prepared pasta. All in all, a great place, it's just too loud. They need an acoustical engineer to place their sound dampening panels and perhaps put some rugs on the floor."

  • "July 4th was my second trip to Indaco and I was again very impressed with the food. The service was great and the food was outstanding. The only downside was being put by the window where they had one high round table for 2. This table should not be used for people with reservations."

  • "Go to this place with an open mind. It is not your typical Italian restaurant. Our group shared a grouper antipasti and pizza which was very tasty and perfect set up for our main courses of various homemade pastas. The servers were extremely well versed in all the dishes and drinks."

  • "After hearing a lot about it, I was looking forward to my first experience at Indaco. I was really disappointed in the food. Both my pasta dish and my husband's snapper were not very good. The ambiance was nice overall, but unfortunately, we were seated in an awkward spot against an ugly metal beam by the doorway with lots of traffic, so not so great for us. The wine list was pretty good, though. And the dessert."

  • "My boyfriend and I went for our anniversary dinner, having never been to Indaco before. We had a lovely evening, I really enjoyed the menu, the Italian felt very authentic. The wine and cocktail lists were also varied and appropriate for the Italian theme. Loved the vibe, we will be returning for cocktails and their gelato!"

  • "This is our second visit to Indaco, and we think it's more fun with a group. The menu is pretty expansive with options for everyone. The dish that completely blew me away and made me a fan was the veggie dish. Purple potato puree was delicious! Love the cauliflower on it, too. The rest of the table's faves were the grouper and the meatball app. We'll be back!"

  • "We found the restaurant staff to be very friendly and accommodating. The idea of a Chef's choice for a four course meal is exciting. This allows the Chef to showcase some of his/her signature dishes and provides the element of surprise and delight for the diner. We were not disappointed. The restaurant also has a nice selection of domestic and imported wines, many from Italy, that are of good quality and moderately priced. In our view, Indaco ranks at the top of the list of restaurants in Charleston and we certainly will patronize them again, and again."

  • "I used to rave about Indaco, but fairly recent menu change has left and left me a little less satisfied. The bar is still great and there are many wonderful cocktails. However, they remove my plate from the menu as well as side dishes which were some of my favorite things. The first courses are still excellent but the main plates for somebody who does not eat pizza or pasta (gluten free) left something to be desired. I think they need to bring back the sides!"

  • "The seafood dishes and the pasta we ordered were swimming in overly salty broths and sauces! Maybe it was our palate (first time dining in Charleston) but we found it unpleasant. We spoke to the waiter and were not offered any substitution. Also, at one point a full glass of wine overturned on our crowded table. We informed our waiter but she did not offer to clean up or replace. We cleaned it up ourselves. We probably would not go back to this restaurant. "

  • "Can't wait to go back...the pizza and the pasta (I had the tag, my son had the short ribs stuffed pasta...it was amazing!!)were the best I have eaten in a very long time. Chianti was delish. Service was very attentive. Manager came over to check on our meals. My new favorite in Charleston. Only down side was the noise....but I could overlook that for the food."

I loved the budino, an almond pudding with caramel and chocolate cookie crumbles. The french press coffee also deserves special mention.   • "My new favorite restaurant in Charleston. They made a birthday celebration quite memorable. Well prepared food and interestingly paired - perfectly roasted tile fish with cranberry beans, flawless meatballs in a creamy polenta. Pasta was well flavored but was over coooked and they took it off the bill. Griffin our waiter was personable, well informed about the foods and the wines and polite and professional. The best waiter I've encountered in a long time. I just cannot say enough about Indaco. It was a great evening and we'll be back again and agin."

  • "the menu has changed since our 1st visit. The new chef has done an excellent job putting some different and tasty dishes together. We tried a variety of appetizers and entrees and were not disappointed in any of them. Our waiter was knowledgable and attentive without being intrusive. The wine list has a lot of quality in it and our waiter did a great job assisting us in choosing some excellent Italian wines. Indaco definitely moves into our favorites list in Charleston."

  • "Came here with a group of 6. We decided on the tasting menu which was $45/person and included 4 courses. It was done family style and the chef decides what to make for the table. We received 3 apps (salad and two traditional apps), 2 pizzas, 2 pastas, 2 meats (chicken and beef) and 2 desserts. Seriously some of the best food ever! if you love to try a little bit of everything I highly recommend the tasting menu. The restaurant itself is also very lively and fun. Lots of cool architecture with high ceilings. Go!"

  • "I received a lot of recommendations on where to eat in Charleston. So glad I chose this one. The restaurant is casual, comfortable and has a great energy. We had several items from a simple Margherita pizza to black pepper tagliatelle pasta(not to miss). Everything was full of flavor but didn't leave us feeling overly full. The wine list is all Italian but our server was quick to guide us in the right direction. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "Having had several great recommendations for Indaco we tried it for ourselves and the recommendations were right on. We enjoyed the four course Chef's Choice. Starting with the Fennel Arugula Salad served with bread toasted in the pizza oven and the best pate ever. Second course of Black Pepper Tagliatelle would have been nice for all four courses it was that good. Rib-eye then an apple-pear and gelato for desert finished us off. All for $45 each. A most enjoyable evening. Free+ valet parking available. Wonderful staff that helped us..all CofC students I suspect."
