A word from Iaria's Italian Restaurant
Iaria's Italian Restaurant was established in 1913 by Pietro and Antonia Iaria and is currently run by fourth generation family members, Matthew Iaria and Carla Russell. Entering Iaria's is like taking a step back in time...not much has changed over the years. The restaurant and bar both offer booth seating and the decor consists mostly of family and celebrity pictures. The Food: sauces, meatballs, sausage, pizzas are made in house and weekly specials are offered. The Bar: cocktails, extensive wine list and craft beer are all available. It is a popular spot for locals and celebrities. It is a great location for a small get together, business luncheon, holiday party or just a night out. The Iaria family looks forward to seeing you soon...Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Growing up in Fountain Square and moving to suburbia when I was a youth, I never lost my attachment to the area. Whenever I want to revisit the nostalgia of my youth and brag that I grew up in the "hood", I like to enjoy the wonderful, authentic Italian food at Iaria's, especially the kickin' spumoni!"

  • "I've been attending FDIC Conference for 15 years straight! And have gone to Laria's at least once and maybe twice for every year! This Italian food is "one" of best in the USA. I wish they had one in Houston. It's over 100 years old. True Italian food! Very traditional look, Nothing fancy:) Great atmosphere! Everyone I have taken here has returned time and time again! Thank you:)"

  • "We always start with Garlic Cheese Bread - excellent choice. The chicken piccata with extra capers is another popular choice. I like their pizza and their spaghetti is also a favorite."

  • "My family (including one very picky eater) was visiting, and I wanted to take them to lunch somewhere everyone would like. Iaria's fit the bill. It was fairly quiet for a weekday lunch service, but the staff was very friendly and attentive. All of the food arrived hot. We enjoyed the homemade bleu cheese dressing and pasta sauces (both the marinara and alfredo). My father particularly enjoyed the chicken marsala- plenty of mushrooms."

  • "I went to this restaurant based on a tip from someone in another restaurant bar. Had I known what it was, where it was and the ambiance, I would not have gone there. For someone traveling to downtown Indianapolis, this would not be on my list of places to dine. It had a 60's style interior, no music, noisey chairs, simple tables and paper napkins. The food was not outradgiously good, but not bad in my opinion. This is probably a good place if you live locally and don't want to venture into the city, even though this is very close to the city, for my money, I would have pick another place, but the person I was traveling with wanted to give this a try. After we pulled up, I comented this is it?"

  • "Four generations later and this place is still a classic. Old school Italian, simple, and a good value. Friendly service makes you feel at home. Had extra non meat dishes for Friday in lent. Home made tiramisu closed a perfect meal. Lots of young couples and the old tradiditional customers that have been dining here for years."

  • "The food was far above average - the service was great. The noise was high, but with grandma, granspa and granskids what can youn expect. Next time I'm in town I'll go back."

  • "We didn't get seated until about 40 minutes after our reservation. We were told several times that our table was almost ready but that the restaurant was waiting for the party at the table reserved for us to vacate. I had to check in on our status twice--the hostess didn't seem to apologetic or want to be bothered with the fact I had a reservation at 7:00 and it was 7:40 when we were seated. We ended up being almost an hour late to our show. However, the food is always good at Iaria's. You can't beat it. Our server was very attentive to us especisally once I shared my experience with her. I freqent this restaurant and have never had an experience like this before."

  • "When we are in Indy we always stop in, Lively, upbeat, neighborhood favorite. Great marinara and lasagna. Large portions. Bread, salad and soup with entree. Excellent value."

  • "I expected a lot more from this place. The service was friendly, but the food was just OK. The middle of one of our Chicken alarms was cold, a little disappointed in the fried mozzarella. The sauce was tasty as well as the garlic bread, but not enough to make me come back."

  • "First-time visit after a return to Indy for out-of-state enjoyed the dinner immensely. Much more of an true Italian taste than chain restaurants. Family dining area festive, loud but enjoyable. Décor creates an appealing feel of going back in time. We'll try the bar on our next visit. Loved the easy access on/off I65/70. Our new favorite in town!"

  • "Food was AMAZING...probably the best marinara sauce I have ever had! Proabaly the best canoli I have ever had as well. Authentic Italian food, with everything is made from scratch. Service was spot on, even on a very busy saturday. The place was very lively, like you would expect from an authentic Italian joint. Loved every minute! Will be back soon."

  • "Iaria's always provides a unique experience -- a one-of-a-kind atmosphere buried in a neighborhood setting. The food was excellent as well, but I recommend starting with the minestrone soup. Amazing."

  • "My wife and I had eaten Iaria's food before, just not at Iaria's. They cater our Knights of Columbus spaghetti dinner and we have always loved the sauce. We were celebrating our anniversary. My wife was expecting something a little fancier when we got there, but she fell in love with the place, as did I. We live just north of the City and it is not a quick trip for us, but one we will make again very soon."

  • "The food was authentic, the service was wonderful. We had a group of 8 (2 were babies) and the staff was great at setting up the kids boosters for us. We went right at 4:30 when they opened and were amazed that the place filled up so quickly at that time of day. The noise level was like you were in a big Italian kitchen with family so it was part of the Ambience! Loved it and would recommend it to anyone that loves real Italian."

  • "Food wasn't bad but nothing I'd go back for. My girlfriend and I went here for Devour Downtown. The portions seemed on the small side for the price, we were still hungry when we left."

  • "The food is ALWAYS consistent at Iaria's. The restaurant is not made for lots of people talking, it's very loud. BUT, if everyone is having a good time, that's to be expected. Love this place!"

  • "We decided to try Iaria's for the Devour Indianapolis. We made an easy reservation through Open Table and we had a very good dining experience. The food was delicious and the service of Allie was outstanding from bringing our food to keeping our drinks full."

  • "There were 4 of us for dinner on a Saturday night. We have reservations and were seated promptly. The waitress gave us some recommended dishes so 2 of us ordered her suggestions. Clams and fettuccine was one of her favorites and my husband said it was fantastic. The eggplant was also really good. We had a few cocktails with dinner and our bill was very resaonable. We will defineltly be back!!!"

  • "It is always a pleasure to dine at Iaria's. Not only does this restaurant serve delicious food, but it also is a neighborhood gem that has been in existence for many years. It's always nice to return to Fountain Square and dine at Iaria's. What a treat for us to dine at this classic restaurant - much better than dining at a boring chain restaurant. Service was fast and friendly!!"

  • "I really enjoyed my meal! It was part of the devour downtown menu so for $15 I got a house salad (one of the best bleu cheese dressings I've ever had), 2 entree options (I picked the chicken Marsala and chicken Picatta made the "old way" per a friends suggestion and I thought both were equally tasty), the Italian bread was perfect: crunchy outside and soft inside. Lastly the cannoli a were amazing! There was cinnamon somewhere in there and mixed with the chocolate and cherries, it was decadent! Great iced tea. I'll definitely be going back! The only issue was that the waitress was certainly in no rush to get us out of there so that we could return to work timely for lunch break so if u plan to go, make sure u have some time to buffer with."

  • "The food was very good, and service was good too. The atmosphere was ok at best, and not as good as other Italian restaurants in the area. First time there, and did not have bad experience, but not sure would come back again. Was there for Devour Downtown, and meal was $40 for two which was overpriced, so we just ordered off the regular menu. The salads were very good, and spaghetti was good size portion. Not many tables, and were seated close to kitchen, and with 5 of us, were given a small booth, so one person had to sit in a chair at end of the table in the aisle. Not a bad restaurant, but not one of the best either."

  • "I've heard so much about this restaurant; especially their eggplant parmesan. Well, they didn't disappoint. I ordered the sampler offered as part of Devour Downtown. I chose lasagna, eggplant Parmesan and chicken marsala. Delicious! Definitely coming back again to try other entrees."

  • "We went to Iaria's to celebrate our anniversary during Devour Downtown. We loved every course of our meal. The red sauce was the best we've ever had, and the meatballs were outstanding. The chicken Marsala was very tasty, and the cheese tortellini was so creamy and good. We cannot wait to return!"
