Diner Reviews
  • "Hiro Asian Kitchen is visually appealing and the food quality and service exceed it's good looks. We had the Lotus Leaf Wrapped sticky rice appetizer which was very good. My friends really enjoyed the Lobster Rangoon on a previous visit. Two of us enjoyed the sumptuous Goji Sole and the other person in our party loved the Claypot Chicken. We all tasted each other's food and found it all to be yummy. The dishes were generous portions. The wait staff could not be more accommodating, helpful and attentive. It was a complete dining pleasure. Two of us has the Cardinal special cocktail and it was good as was the sparkling and regular sake. Don't miss this restaurant."

  • "A group of six of us were visiting St. Louis. While out walking, we wandered into a store and the store owner recommend Hiro's. We decided to go that night. Super friendly service and very attentive. We didn't get a couple of things we had asked for and had to ask again so I took off one star under service, but it didn't affect our dining experience. The ambience is wonderful and the food even better. We shared our entries and each dish seemed to be better. We had to leave before coffee and dessert to make it to a show, but they sounded wonderful. I will go to Hiro's every time I am back in St. Louis. "

  • "Expected the gluttony of the typical Sunday Brunch Buffet. Instead it was a refined savoring of an East Asian take on breakfast comfort. The Dim Sum, an assortment of three steamed dumplings didn't offer district differences in flavor but were hot (temp), salty, soft & smooth. Likewise, the pan-fried dumplings had a nice crunchy bottom. The Jook was warm & filling w/ meaty, crunchy & spongy textures that kept it interesting. Chicken Fried Steak was flavorful & crisp while the accompanying sunny-side-up egg was in perfect balance w/ a bit of crusty fringe. The gravy over the Shrimp Toast completely obliterated any shrimp flavor. A side of bacon, ultra thin & crisp was a nice accompaniment. We left satisfied & intrigued"

  • "I picked Hiro because it was downtown and I wanted to get out of the "burbs" on Valentine's day. Food was not bad but we could not order off the menu. They had prepared a 4 course dinner only option for Valentine's Day. At $45 is was overpriced by at least $10 per plate. Kale salad was very good. The wine list was terrible if you have any knowledge and expectations of a good glass of wine with your dinner. Service was very good!"

  • "My friends & I had a great meal at Hiro before a show at the Peabody. I've dined here a few other times and have always been pleased. Try the pork belly gua bao appetizers, everyone loves them! The service is good and the owner/managers came around to make sure everything was good. The atmosphere is nice with great lighting and a modern feel."

  • "The decor is breathtaking. From the outside you would never guess how tranquil and cool modern urban spot awaits you inside. I ordered the Ramen Lakey...I think. It was superb. Halopena calamari was great. I liked 3 out of 4 of the dim sum appetizer. There was a cocktail maid with sake in it which was also excellent. Loved it! Looking for a reason to go back."

  • "My husband and I were visiting STL and had a night out without our 2.5 year old, so we decided to go to Washington Ave. Hiro had great reviews and our experience lived up to them. We normally do sushi but decided to go for something a little different. We loved everything we tried."

  • "Service is excellent and food is nicely presented. Atmosphere is hip yet very comfortable. The menu has a good variety of different types of Asian food while avoiding over-choice. We ate all dim sum selections-- not quite up to big city Chinatown standards, but certainly hit the spot when you need a fix."

  • "Waiters were friendly and helpful, food was amazing. I would definitely recommend the roti and the kimchi fried rice. The portions were a little large for the kimchi fried rice but hey that's lunch for the next 2 days."
