Diner Reviews
  • "Three of us dined for a birthday celebration. We all had the halibut special with rice pilaf, topped with jumbo shrimp and served with sauted snow peas. The flavors were really wonderful. We were all delighted with our meals. The server went out of his way to make sure we had a pleasant experience. We have been turned off by the prices here, but don't mind so much when it's something really special. You can get a pretty good steak anywhere around here, but it's difficult to find gourmet meals prepared with such expertise or to find wild caught, local or sustainable fare."

  • "The bar was great and the service was friendly. The food is good, but it has to be great for the price. The ahi tuna was not very flavorful. My pasta Fruits de Mer was good, nut needs to be amazing for $35. Service was excellent. Presentation of food was excellent. Liked the ambience. Would go back for happy hour and apps but that's all."

  • "The food is excellent, the service is superb, and the wine selection is impressive. You must try their lunch selection during the week. I have eaten here on numerous occasions and have never been disappointed!"

  • "The restaurant decor and ambiance is romantic and well suited to a special occasion. The food was delicious and the presentation was, at times, surprising and very elegant. The service was good, but not great. It felt like our server and the support staff was just a bit "off." There were small missteps along the way that had the service been stepped up one notch, I would have given the experience an overall 5 star rating. Examples, like...our appetizers came out even before our bottle of wine was served. The kitchen sent out my boyfriend's entree without mine. I had to wait an additional 5 minutes for my meal. And, our server indicated that a certain fruit was available on my dessert, when in fact, it wasn't. Overall, we would go back!"

  • "Overall our experience was very pleasant, and our service was good. We opted not to have any wine but the wine list was very extensive and they had several of our favorites. Food was presented well and was good, but I thought a little pricey for what we got. Basically everything was ala cart and not typical of many of the restaurants we have been to in the past. They did make our anniversary celebration nice by presenting us with a peach Cream Brule with a candle, on the house. It topped off our experience very nicely."

  • "The Hideaway remains a special gem for our neighborhood in north Westminster. The food and the service remain consistently very good and we especially enjoy our times sitting on the patio near the creek during warm evenings. Their offerings are straight-ahead upscale contemporary American. Even my 12-year-old son enjoyed sharing a small pizza with me during one of their happy hours. Their happy hours are probably the best way to for the budget-minded to sample what they have to offer. A full dinner for two with drinks could cost almost $100 after tax and gratuity, so this is definitely a special occasion dinner gem. But, our definite choice for a quick after-work decompression, when it comes to their happy hour."

  • "My wife and I went to the Hideaway trying to find a nice restaurant that wasn't part of a large chain. The atmosphere was very nice. The salads were great. The appetizer was three small cuts of shaved meat wrapped around a bunch of sprouts, set on a bed of mashed potatoes, all set on a mushroom cap. There was no flavor to the whole thing and the sprouts tasted old. Both entrees were ok, but again, there was no flavor. My wife's halibut was bland and overcooked and the steak I ordered had zero seasonings on it. They had dropped it on a grill and that was it. Just for the record, I am not a fan of spicy foods, but both our meals were very plain and for what we paid we were both disappointed. We probably won't go back."

  • "I believe that when your in a five star restaurant the servivce shiuld be more good it should be outstanding, the service was efficient, we had empty plates after or main course for about 10 to 15. The happy hour in the bar should end at a reasonable time before dinning hours for a more comfortable environment, automatically the loudness of the bar takes away from romantic and quite setting,"

  • "What a nice option for the north metro area. Very 'special' ambiance perfect for a special occasion or date night; food is good - in the summer the back patio is magical.."

  • "Went for Birthday dinner. Disappointed in the quality of our steaks. I had Prime and he had New York so should have been two good cuts of beef. The Prime was way overdone / no taste for an end cut. I would not have minded the meat being a bit overdone since it was end cut, but we ate 5:30 should not have been that overdone and being an end cut should have lots of flavor. My husbands New York was only seasoned with the sauce they gave him...the steak itself was not seasoned at all. It was very small for $ 48.00 for just the beef. The carrot cake dessert was way over priced for the small section they gave. Service was wonderful! Would I go back for steak? NO"

  • "What were they thinking for Denver Restaurant Week! The first course was the tiniest wedge salad I have ever seen.(We eat out almost every night, I've seen a lot!)It fit in a plate that was maybe 4X4 inches and that included a few tiny cherry tomatoes and caramelized onions on the sides.Usually a wedge is 1/4 of a head of lettuce, but this was a sliver of a head! The entre was prime rib, 1/4 of an inch thick. No kidding I brought some home, I just measured it! It was about the size of a saucer plate, you know the one that comes under a cup of coffee. Pretty bland and not very tender. For dessert we chose a fudge like dessert and peach cobbler, again the peach cobbler was a little bland and the fudge was ok both nothing to really rave about."

  • "Dinner was no great shakes...the salad was a wedge of lettuce with a little extra on the plate, the Prime Rib was a thin slice, needed to be trimmed of fat and grizzle (more than I thought was appropriate) and not a lot of flavor, the 2 sides were fine. Overall it was just so so...I've been here for lunch before and had the steak salad and it was very good, and would return for that dish. The Service on both visits was very good. The dinning room is very beautiful, and the bar area with the piano is fun and lively..."

  • "Went for restaurant week. My wife had salmon dish - very good. I had prime rib. It was cooked inconsistently and then thrown on the flat top to brown on both sides. Tough and chewy. I was very surprised that a steak house would serve such poor quality meat. The peach cobbler was missing the peaches in my serving. All bread and goo. The waiter was always in a rush and never asked how things were. He never asked if we needed anything else or offered coffee. The bus man banged our table with his leg three times and shook the table. He never said a word - too busy rushing around. I've been to this restaurant at lunch and enjoyed it. Menu prices are very high but don't back up the quality of food nor service."

  • "Decided to try the Hideout on spur of the moment due to Denver restaurant week promotion. Decor is very nice with lots of wood & stone. We chose to seat at bar, and the two female bartenders were attentive and friendly. Manager came to check on our experience, which was appreciated. Chose prime rib and salmon entrees, both were very good (only gripe was horseradish come in ridiculously small portion, need to order a few of them). Drinks/wine menu was reasonably priced. Bartender stated they have Ladies night on Wednesdays, and sometimes live music in bar. We plan to return and try regular menu."

  • "We went for the first time due to restaurant week and loved it! Our server Chris was excellent and made our visit that much more great. It's nice to go somewhere and notice the staff living their job. We have been to many Denver steak houses and I would put this one above others like Morton's. They were attentive, funny, energetic and the prime rib was amazing. The location and ease of parking is def a gem too. I can't wait to go again. I hear their patio is excellent in summer."

  • "This was our first trip there. Everything was really excellent and Restaurant Week made it especially affordable. The only problem we had was with our server. He actually mixed up our order (I ordered my prime rib medium rare and my husband ordered his medium). I actually asked him when he served us if he had confused the two, and he told us no. So I proceeded to season mine with salt and pepper--only to have him come back to tell us it was reversed! We just switched plates rather than have him re-do our order. Fortunately we use similar seasonings but considering the quality of the restaurant, I'm sure they would want to get it right the first time."

  • "It was my first time eating at Hideaway Steakhouse I must say everything I tasted was phenomenal from the new jalapeño ranch to the melt in your mouth steak and the peach cobbler. The staff was wonderful and educated on the menu, they gave excellent pairings of wine and main dish to pairings of wine and dessert. When i first got there they had loud, live music not something I expected for the ambiance, classical music would have been better. Wonderful overall"

  • "We have been to this restaurant a bunch and this was the first time that we have not had fantastic service. Waiter was slow getting to our table to take our drink orders and great us, food was slow to come out, waiter brought my husband the wrong dessert and it took us forever to flag someone down and tell them it was wrong. The food itself was good, though I was highly disappointed that they did not have the filet on the menu for Restaurant Week. We will go back because it's close to our house but we won't keep going if service is bad again."

  • "We had such a nice time! The staff was amazing and our server really knew a lot about the food! He even let us sample his favorite wine with our delicious chocolate patte. It was our first time at Hideaway, we will definitely be back. The happy hour sounds great so we want to come back and try that!"

  • "We went here for dinner this past week during Denver's Restaurant Week. I am glad that we chose this time to give Hideaway a try b/c we didn't find the experience or food worth what they normally charge. For $30 a piece we received the wedge salad & garden salad both pretty standard, nothing exciting, both easily found at other restaurants. We both had the prime rib (which WAS very good), the sides were garlic mashed potatoes & greenbeans -neither we found tasty, generic even. I realize the meat is the star but everything should shine. We wanted umami! Our waiter started off great but as tables of 4+ arrived we were forgotten at times. We won't go back for their regular price menu but we may give their 'lounge' and/or lunch menu a try."

  • "Prime rib was excellent, salmon was cold, peach cobbler was cold. Service was good and food arrived quickly. They sat us in a very dark corner. Even the manager noticed it was dark, but never fixed the issue. We came here last year for the 5280 week, I think it was all around better last year."

  • "Decided to go for my boyfriend's birthday. The ambiance is nice but the food leaves a lot to be desired. The bread tasted a bit stale, the rice tasted like it came from a box and the white orchid martini was so strong I couldn't finish it. For what they charge, I can definitely think of some places I'd rather go."
    Dined on 2/22/2014
  • "We enjoyed dinner during 5280 week. Our waiter was charming, very personable. Dinner was pleasant, my salmon lacked a bit of flavor, though presentation was very nice. Try the chocolate pate if given a choice - you won't be disappointed. The special margarita with Gran Marnier & pineapple was very good. The restaurant interior was very upscale for the location. The bar was packed with guests of various ages enjoying the performing duo. We plan to return to treat ourselves to the music and congeniality."

  • "Atmosphere - Very good Service is Excellent Food - Everything was great with the exception of the Prime Rib. It wasn't prime beef, and not likely even choice. I suspect that they used Beef round instead of Rib Roast. Feel like they tried to save margin on Restaraunt week, instead of customer experience Little things like the kinds of salt they use are distinguishing. Dessert was excellent, all greens in salad were fresh."

  • "In the middle of taking our order our waiter left us to assist another table of his with steak knives. We found this very rude, there were only 3 of us in our party. He also forgot to bring one of our wine orders."

  • "We went to the Hideaway Steakhouse for restaraunt week (4 of us). We have been there before and enjoyed it. This time, everything was good except the steaks were undercooked. We ordered them medium but I would say they were rare to medium rare. I would have sent them back to be cooked more, but our waiter seemed a bit put out when we had other requests for him. He was not rude, but he pretty much set down the rules before we finished ordering. I was hesitant to ask anything else of him.Other food was good, got a good meal for the price, but I wouldn't have wanted to pay full menu price for this meal. I probably will try the Hideaway one more time and go from there."

  • "I had heard good things about The Hideaway, so we booked a reservation during Restaurant Week. The food was terrible. Prime rib, instant potatoes, and unimpressive green beans. It honestly tasted like something I have been served at a large conference. The rest of their food can't be as bad as what we had, or they wouldn't be in business."
    Dined on 2/22/2014
  • "We went for restaurant week after seeing Hideaway in our neighborhood for a year. The service was poor almost throwing your food at you, taking plates away without asking if you were done. The food was nothing special, the primerib was good but not anything better than a local chain restaurant. I am glad we went during restaurant week and the price was reasonable otherwise it seems way over priced."
    Dined on 2/22/2014
  • "I ordered the special rib eye dinner. The meat was full of grizzle, although the flavor was wonderful. I had to leave a lot of the steak on my plate because I couldn't chew it. I would have expected a better grade of meat for the price. Fortunately, the entre my husband ordered was very good."
