Mothers day brunch was included homemade doughnuts and jam, a salad of watercress and arrugula with murani cheese and fresh cherries, an entree choice of morel mushroom quiche with warm lobster and mache and arrugula or filet mignon on asparagus and steak fries and topped with an egg over easy, all finished with a raspberry pavlova with vanilla gelato. The service was attentive without smothering. The ambiance is elegant and understated with dark woods, soft greys and chocolate brown accents. I'd forgo all the appetizers and entrees and go right to the dessert, except that the tuna tartare, and the duck confit were spectacular too. The waitstaff (Mike) was particularly helpful, explaining preparation when asked, even to the history of the vodka in a signature cocktail.Even though a large party was seated in the nearby private room, the noise level was fine. We've gotten used to area restaurants where you can hardly hear your tablemates due to terrible acoustics. We opted for the tasting menu, and all seven courses, plus the amose bouche were fabulous! When we were told that one of the dessert courses was blue cheesecake (my wife does not like cheese), they were kind enough to accommodate us with a refreshing raspberry sorbet with white chocolate and shortbread crumbles. Our favorite course was the duck breast with pork belly, and the veal and short ribs. The well dressed host is there to greet you with a smile and escort you to your table. From there the server takes over, taking care of every detail. The food then becomes the highlight of the show. From wild game, to fresh fish, complemented with farm to table vegetables, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The burrata prosciutto salad was to die for. The freshness of a pan seared sole over a creamy orzo was obvious. Homemade sorbets finished our meal. The chef sent out salted chocolate cookies and homemade marshmallows as a final treat. Excellent advice. The fresh pea and asparagus salad was the essence of Spring. The risotto was the star of the lamb dish, and the spinach in the pork scalopini really made the dish. The butterscotch pudding tasted perfect, but the coconut gelato lacked a coconut taste.
