Hakkasan San FranciscoThis beautiful restaurantThis beautiful restaurant is expensive but the food is worth every penny. The wine pricing however is over the top. The noise level is extremely energetic.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was excellent but a littleFood was excellent but a little too pricey. Very noisy5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMFive star experienceGreat service, great ambiance, great food, great cocktails! Hakkasan takes the traditional Chinese dining experience and melds it into a five star delight. From the moment you hand your car over to the valet parking, to that final gesture when your guests' coats are returned, everything about Hakkasan is five star. We ordered the duck salad and the cold pork belly which were delicious. The silver cod was fish done to perfection and the noodles and vegetables were superb. Our waitress was knowledgeable, prompt, efficient and charming. Now Hakkasan costs more than a typical Chinese meal; but it's worth it! If you want cheap Chinese, go to Grant Street; if you want gourmet Chinese food, a refined setting, and great service, come to Hakkasan!5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place and a must goGreat place and a must go in SF. Definitely a hot spot to go, then to top it off the food and service are excellent. We have now been to the SF and Vegas locations and both are excellent.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMHakkasan is THE place!A wonderful dining experience all-around. Excellent service, food, atmosphere and people watching. Warriors Point Guard, Jarrett Jack, sat behind us. Joe Montana and his family two tables away just added to the occasion.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWell Deserved PraiseIt is rare to find a Chinese restaurant where the Executive Chef has a Michelin star. We had "Mother's Day" lunch at Hakkasam and it was exceptional. In the past, if you wanted an elegent, upscale Chinese restaurant, you had to go to Tommy Toys. One now has a great alternative.
The dim sum is the best we have had.
Definitely worth a visit - but don't expect Chinatown prices!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMI love pretty food...I took my staff out for lunch and I was impressed by the freshness and delicate tastes of the entrees, BUT the desserts are what's especially notable here. Do not miss the desserts!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMFantasticMy guests and I were all very impressed with knowledable and accomodating wait staff. Service was excellent and attentive. Food was equally excellent and the Bar was fantastic. Hakkasan has a good vibe with an elegant ambiance where you feel comfortable dressed up or casual.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAtmosphere is very nice andAtmosphere is very nice and the service was outstanding.
Food was excellent, next visit I will know better what portions to order. It would be great with more people for you could order more things and try them.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMLived up to the hypeFantastic food and great ambiance. Absolutely lived up to the hype.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous experience! We loved our entire experience at Hakkasan. Everything was perfect, the wine list, the expertise of the staff in knowing the menu inside and out.
We will be back with some friends soon!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently good.I have been here 4 times now and it has not disappointed.
The $29 set lunch tasting menu is a great deal.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMYou don't order by number hereThis isn't just a fancy Chinese restaurant. This is a fine dining establishment that happens to serve Chinese food. But don't assume that the food isn't "authentic." From the cocktails and tea service to the entrees and dessert, everything is meticulously laid out and the staff is well trained. I even noticed that the plates were always placed in a consistent fashion - attention to detail like that is remarkable.
However, you will find prices to be a little more expensive and portions to be a lot smaller than your typical Chinese restaurant - the combined effect can lead to sticker shock. But you don't go to a place like Hakkasan expecting an all-you-can-eat buffet for $10.99. Enjoy the food, drinks, ambience, and service.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMOur dim sum lunch was delightful,Our dim sum lunch was delightful, although the techno music was slightly more intrusive than we would have liked. Our waiter gave us good advice on how many items to order for our party of three. We had no disappointments, and especially liked the morel crystal dumpling and the duck and pumpkin puff. The chocolate orange dessert was too tempting to resist for two of us, and it proved to be as good as it sounded.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was great, the serviceThe food was great, the service and wine, top notch. I would definitely recommend this place to a friend!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWell paced lunch experience.Well paced lunch experience. Never rushed any course. Each dish was very well done. Try the Peking duck , the curry shrimp . Some the clientele photographed the menu, the food , the space ,4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMhakkasan, yum man!Basically imagine if a royal king had a fight with a Chinese chef and in a strange twist the fight ended up them being lovers...the hakkasan is their love child. I do not like Chinese food i always get Thai instead but this is royal Chinese food!! Superb4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWas not sure what to expectWas not sure what to expect but the restaurant was beautiful, the service was polished and the food far exceeded our expectations. Everything was great. The Crispy duck salad is a not to be missed item. Sommalier was knowledgable and up for a challenge. Need a little work on offering wines under $100 a bottle.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThis place is really amazing...supeThis place is really amazing...super sexy bar, great service, amazing wine and liquor list, and fabulous service. My ONE complaint...they burn incense in the lobby...WAY too heavy! Ugh. You don't notice it when you are in the restaurant, but you sure get a dose of it coming and leaving. Sort of ruins the overall experience, so only 4 stars for ambiance.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMValue prix-fixe three courseValue prix-fixe three course lunch BUT wish restaurant offered other than macarons for dessert4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat restaurant for a specialnightGreat food and great service. We loved the ambience, the service was marvelous, the sommelier was knowledgeable, and the food was delicious. We had the steamed dim sum platter, the crispy duck salad, and beef in merlot with rice - plenty for two of us. The signature cocktails were very good and nicely presented. Highly recommended.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMour favorite in SF, betterour favorite in SF, better for lunch, light delicious dumpling, taste the Pipa Duck! fantastic service!4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely love the food.Absolutely love the food. Portions can be quite small, nevertheless it was amazing. The pork, the duck, the fish and the appetizers were just to die for. Service was great too! The waitress was very attentive and i never had to wait for my drink. Had my birthday here, drinks were good, really liked the martinis and wine selection. Overall, i was happy to go here!4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and cocktails.Great food and cocktails. The service is outstanding!!I didn't find the evening expensive by Australian standards, about $180 including tips for two. Well worth a visit.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMBoth service and food wasBoth service and food was outstanding, would definitely go back.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMevery dish was spectacularHad read something about this opening but had no idea just how excellent it would be - every dish was spectacular - pricey, but worth it. Crispy duck salad, truffled noodles and the desserts were my favorite.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMToo expensive for what isToo expensive for what is offered. Only Peking duck is a $ 200 plus dish with a separate portion of caviar. Duck was no different than any Chinatown restaurant. Dish portions in general are half the size of most restaurants at almost double the price. Too much incense in the Lobby area--not good for people with allergies like me.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is the second time IThis is the second time I have been to Hakkasan for lunch and it was delicious.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMIngredients for dim sum areIngredients for dim sum are very fresh and tasty. The only comment is that the dishes are not hot enough especially the deep fried dishes.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMI loved the original HakkasanI loved the original Hakkasan in London and this outpost did not disappoint Food was fabulous, specially the crispy duck salad and the pork belly. The chocolate orange dessert was spectacular and has a surprise.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMSolid Dim Sum Downtownfirst time at Hakkasan and I was impressed. The selection of Dim Sum and dishes was good, lots of vegitarian items and everything was really tasty. It is a bit pricey for Dim Sum but as compared to the other options downtown, I'd pick this place everytime.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMSeveral plates of dim sumSeveral plates of dim sum were served...we ordered daikon puff, pumpkin puff, taro croquette, siew long bao, and beancurd roll. Every dish is artistic and meticulously presented. YUM!! Next, we had hakka noodle and truffle noodle and sticky rice. I find the truffle noodle to be a little on the oily side. Apple tatin was delectable..very labor intensive...it incorporated 25 slices of apple. Food came right away. Service was attentive and very efficient. Beautiful surroundings and each dish is beautifully presented. Very comfortable and expensive dining area. They also have a huge and spacious lounge.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAfter visiting Hakkasan twiceAfter visiting Hakkasan twice for dinner, we went for lunch on the most recent visit.
This time, we chose mostly from the dim sum menu and it was just as excellent as the entrees we had for dinner.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMTry the Peking duck with caviar!Try the Peking duck with caviar! Expensive compared to any standard Chinese cuisine but the unique combination works!3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a very good ChineseThis is a very good Chinese restaurant. It is expensive bur the food is very delicious .it is not that kind of Chinese food you usually will get in here. It is more modern Chinese food but still authentic . It remind me the food from expensive restaurant in shanghai . The quantity of the food is small compare to other Chinese restaurant , but the quality is one of the top. This restaurant is just like any other expensive restaurant but serve delicious Chinese food. They also have a great bar. Service is also great. Business dressing code will be recommend .3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMI really like Hakkasan. Yes,I really like Hakkasan. Yes, it's pricey and perhaps the value isn't all that, BUT, the food is excellent and the drinks imaginative and well-executed!3/4/2013 12:00:00 AMMultiple service slips marredMultiple service slips marred my second visit. Drinks at the bar - not offered the special New Year's menu. (It had a cocktail I would have liked to try, but it was too late when I saw it at dinner.) My friend's seat was across from a streetlight that was shining in her eyes; waitress said this is a frequent complaint, and there are no adjustable window coverings. (If I spent $7 MM on a renovation I would expect more.) They were gracious about moving us (not so gracious: the couple at the next table, whose too-young-for-this-kind-of-restaurant kid was watching loud videos on his iPad). Our first dish took a half hour, so they comped it. 2 of three dishes were fabulous; the 3rd, lobster, was $48 and not worth it.2/10/2013 12:00:00 AMLunched at Hakkasan on a Saturday.Lunched at Hakkasan on a Saturday. Things were pretty quiet which might not be the case during the week or at dinner. The place has a very hip vibe and service was good. We did the dim sum menu and found the food to be fantastic. Best dim sum I have had in SF. Party of 2 without alcohol was $80.1/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThe restaurant definitelyThe restaurant definitely had a nice atmosphere and food was good. Although the original dish I wanted to order was completely sold out! I think it's a bit overpriced so only go out here on a special occassion.12/29/2012 12:00:00 AM
