  • "This is my all-time favorite Mexican restaurant. The guacamole is consistently superb. The Chiles en Nogada are awesome. The prawns are good in various different preparations. And the margaritas are killer. Take the ferry to Guaymas!"

  • "The birthday party was fun. Somewhat hard to talk with the ambient noise and the kitchen close by. Great view of the bay and the service was attentive but not over bearing. Food was good and served hot from the kitchen. Would come again with friends"

  • "View is spectacular. Food flavors are fresh and clean with wonderful sauces and salsas that are not overdone. Last but not least tables are big enough and chairs are comfortable."

  • "Was in Tiburon on the weekend with an out of town guest and decided to try Guaymas given their location. Food was fair, at best. Service was very poor: not bringing the correct orders and then forgetting to bring one of the orders, on top of slow service at a time when the restaurant seemed a third full. If it wasn't for the view and the margaritas, it would have been a total write-off. The loud overhead music (we were there at 2 pm on a Saturday) was a hodgepodge of techno-pop -- quite strange for a "Mexican" restaurant."

  • "Wonderful food - everyone in my party enjoyed. Not just your typical mexican. Fantastic seafood, not covered in cheese. Fantastic margaritas."

  • "The service was poor and very slow. The food wasn't very good either. Our waiter did not bother to check on us much and never asked us how our food was. We have enjoyed this restaurant in the past, but I don't think we'll return again. Very disappointed!"

  • "Mid week lunches with a view of the bay are the way to go!"

  • "We took the ferry from SF on my partner's Bday and it was the perfect place for a romantic celebration. The view, the food, the margaritas and especially our server, Martin, we're all top notch. We took our time and leisurely savored every moment. Martin was very attentive and was eager to share his contagious smile. Will be back for more suberb sunset suppers at Guaymas!"

  • "The location has a super view but the service was pretty bad. We had a late lunch and the place was not busy - so we saw no reason for the poor service. The food was good so maybe we just caught them on a bad day."

  • "This used to be my favourite Mexican food hangout in the early 2000s. I ate here countless times and was never disappointment, last in 2007, then I moved away from the Bay Area. Roll forward 5 years and this place has dropped signifcantly in their food choices & quality, but most of all in service. It's now just about the view of the ocean on San Fran. While the food isn't "bad", it's now just average Mexican food you can get anywhere in California for much less. What a shame, I used to really like this place."

  • "Sadly, this wonderful spot needs a shake up in the kitchen. Service is accommodating and well intended but found food lacking any zip or real taste. House Nachos & Carnitas main course had no distinctive flavor Great View, terrific pitchers of drinks! A minor shake up is all they need"

  • "Ambiance and location are very good, but food is only fair."

  • "We had a very enjoyable lunch - but the drink prices are very high! A regular martini after tip will run you $15."

  • "We've been coming to Guaymas for years, to sit outside for lunch on Saturday. The food is gourmet Mexican, all fresh ingredients, and quite delicious. So are the margaritas. Great ceviche, inventive tamales, and the best tortilla chips ever."

  • "It was a very busy Friday night but service was very responsive. Drinks and chips were emediate. Staffed very well. Not your typical mexican food, a little higher end, more imaginative. Parking can be a little tricky in Tiburon but I found a 2nd lot nearby. But... even if the food wasnt good, you would have to go for the view and a Margharita."

  • "Friends visiting from Boston loved the food, ambience and view. This was my first choice to take my out of towners while in the Sausalito/ Tiburon area. Guaymas has remained a consistent par excellence over the years ."

  • "Seating was prompt and my online request for an outdoor table was met. Service was good and paced; this isn't an in and out chain restaurant. The food was good but not extraordinary. I would have like more seasoning and perhaps some "heat" since this is a Mexican restaurant. Overall, very nice setting and a pleasant meal in an unhurried setting."

  • "We were a group of nine who wanted a late lunch but lucked into Happy Hour starting at 4 pm! The heat lamps were nice, because we were in the shade on deck. Magda was a great server and could speak German to our group of Swiss guests. We enjoyed the fajitas, margaritas, and guacamole. When the ferry arrived to take us back to Pier 41, it was so convenient to be right at the dock!"

  • "We've been coming here for years. It's under new ownership now. The menu isn't as interesting and the service went way down hill."

  • "Ate there last about 3 years ago. Menu has degraded to more cantina-style food, with some of their house specialties retained. Hostess was very accommodating, as we requested two changes of table to get away from noisy family groups with very young kids, however table service was poor. Definitely not as "special" as it used to be."

  • "Love taking the ferry to Tiburon. The restaurant is located perfectly, just steps away from the ferry landing. Sitting put on the patio is really great, with fabulous views of San Francisco. The food was good, not great. service was very good."

  • "Food is authentically good and the view is unbeatable of course! Great margaritas & sangrias. Pleasant atmosphere to watch sports, especially Giants game on any TV screen - they're all over. Great kids menu w/ options to choose from. Homemade desserts were delicious, especially the warm churros!"

  • "Really good Mexican, nicely presented, really fresh. On a pier into the bay in Tiburon, it has a beautiful view night or day."

  • "My first trip to San Francisco and I wanted to eat somewhere not too expensive on the waterfront. This was a great spot, it required driving across the Golden Gate Bridge and nice drive on the other side. The outdoor seating are is very pleasant in spite of an occassional encroachment by a seagull or pigeon. The food was good and the service commendable. The only complaint was that we ordered a pitcher of margaritas and were brought the frozen variety, expecting on the rocks. She didn't ask if we wanted the frozen (and we neglected to specify) All in all a pleasant evening."

  • "Lunch was delicious and the patio dining offered wonderful vistas of San Francisco. Had a glitch with our dessert order that delayed our homemade churros; management was appologetic and dessert ended up on the house. Very nice way to enjoy a casual lunch celebrating our anniversary."

  • "We used to go to Guaymas periodically when we had friends who lived nearby, but had not been there for at least 10 years. Decided to go there to take college friends from the East Coast who were visiting and staying in a hotel nearby. The food was as good as I remembered -- fresh, tasty and well-prepared. Service was very friendly and generally good, but a few lapses -- had to ask for plates and additional silverware, did not remove dishes from table often enough to prevent the table from being too crowded. Nice water views if you get there before dark."

  • "Could not wish for a better view! Food was good as was the price."

  • "This restaurant was a total disappointment. My wife and I ordered only an appetizer to share and a bowl of tortilla soup and it never came! We waited an hour after putting our order in. The place was busy but not overly so, as there were tables around us empty. After the extensive wait, we cancelled the order and left. The manager came out but did nothing, barely uttered a word and stood there motionless as I left! Bottom line, don't waste your time with this restaurant, there are plenty of other good places to eat in Marin County."

  • "Everything was good and we liked the less gourmet menu (we've been coming for years). It seemed as if the place had changed owners and there was not quite as much attention to detail. Is this true? But still nice and the food was great however. They should have more heaters on the outside areas since so much of the time it is cold."

  • "We were seated at a nice outdoor table as we had requested - but had not been guaranteed - when we made the reservation. Two of the 4 adults had the carnitas (excellent), one had nachos (very good), one had the seafood skewers (again excellent). We arrived just as the deck was getting busy but our server and other staff stayed very attentive. Will bring out-of-town guests here again!"

  • "Ownership change has definitely had a negative impact on the food, but there are still some good dishes. Ceviche is now from tilapia, rather than petrale; it's good, just not as good as the old version. Brochette de Mariscado was good; but again, not outstanding, like the old Creaturas del mar platter. Drinks and outdoor ambiance are still excellent; hard to beat the view and ambiance on a sunny day."

  • "Great view but food only ok. Better for drinks and appetizers."

  • "I used to LOVE Guaymas. I first went there way back in 2000 and even had my HS graduation dinner here in 2002. It had been awhile since my last visit and I was really looking forward to having a yummy Father's Day brunch on the patio. Well, much to my disappointment, everything has changed. I felt like I'd walked into a cheap Mexican restaurant chain (think Chevy's). The menu was altered and lacking uniqueness, the food was bland, the service was irritatingly slow, and even the patio was shabby with abandoned ice tea pitchers and broken chairs. The view was the only nice thing (although half of it was covered with an awning) but overall the entire experience was very disappointing! Guaymas, where did you go?"

  • "We have had the opportunity to eat at Guaymas at least four times in the past six months and the first two were special, food and service were excellent and the views from the lanai were great. The third time available seating found us next to a rack of dishes that came and went, service was slow, but the food was excellent. This fourth, and probably last visit, even with a reservation we were seated after walk ins and had to wait 15-20 minutes. It went downhill from there. The restaurant seemed understaffed, we had to ask for everything, silverware, water, chips, salsa, refills on diet coke, refills on water, etc. When the food finally came it was not up to pare. My fourth visit my guests first and we will not be back."
