  • "The food was absolutely amazing. I really enjoyed it and they did have some very nice wine choices. However I can not recommend this place due to the service. Our waiter was polite and treated us good however it was apparent there were not enough servers and ours was stretched too thin. We waited maybe 20 minutes before we had even seen our waiter. Then it was another 20 minutes in between each stop and we could see very well it was not that he was a poor waiter but that he had far too many tables to wait on and was doing the best he could."

  • "I will not apologize for writing such a critical review, but the restaurant's description on Open Table was far too flattering for reality. We did see the hardwood floors but we also saw the restaurany as old and dismal ; we could hardly wait until we had finished our dinner. Our server was pleasant and engaging and was promp in greeting us and in bringing our food. The rest of the evening challenged description. We found our steaks tough and chewy; we've had better meat from our local Publix supermarket. The wine list was small and added to the disappointment. We won't return nor will we recommend to friends."

I was happy with both meals although not sure I would come back just for food. When I'm in the Loop it's definitely a place I would visit again. Service has been great both visits as well."

  • "We came before the Dinner crowd so the restaurant was quiet and condusive to conversation. We split the Maryland Crab Cake Appetizer (price was a bit steep for just 1 crab cake - but it was delicious) and the Marinated Steak Cobb Salad. Our steaks were perfect, just the right amount of char on the outside, tender and cooked to our specifications inside. Our Wait Staff was very attentive and we would definitely recommend for Dinner before or after Theatre and Special Occasions."

  • "Showed up early to pick up theater tickets and then have dinner before the performance. Grillroom is across the street from the theater. No problem getting a reservation. Rene was our waiter and he was fabulous!! I asked for a particular item one way and if they didn't have it that way, I would change the order. He spoke with the chef about my order, came back out and said he had 3 options for me -- his first option was exactly what I wanted. At the end of the meail, I asked him to please tell the chef that I really appreciate his consideration. There was plenty of tables available. I think that Rosebud Prime around the corner has really cut into their busienss."

  • "We dined here on a Saturday night at 6:30. It was busy but not crazy busy. Our waiter took a very long time greet us, and even longer to bring our drinks. Our appetizer came before our drinks and I had to ask him to check to see if they were ready. He did apologize for the wait but didn't seem to move any quicker after that. The food was very very good though. You absolutely can not beat the location if you have tickets at the Bank of America, its right across the street. Maybe they were short staffed that night. The table next to us left before there food came so maybe they had issues too. We still made the 8pm show with no problem."

  • "Service was very slow. Waiter was inattentive. Sent "sangria" back as it was just wine with ice. Took a good 25 minutes to get another drink. Other nearby tables were equally unhappy with the extremely slow and inattentive service. Asked for a manager and did not get one for an hour. Manager did deeply discount meal, but I would have gladly paid full price if the service matched the quality of the food, which was very good."

  • "The food was absolutely delicious and our steaks were cooked perfectly. They were out of Grey Goose for our martini's but what can you do? The server was excellent and friendly. The overall service was great with timing of food and drink arrival. We never had an empty glass in front of us or a dirty plate. And they gave us a complimentary dessert just because my sister was visiting from out of town! I would highly recommend this restaurant for a pleasant, relaxed evening."

Could have been her interactions with the bar too, not sure. That said, the restaurant was clean, well lit, well appointed, and provided a sufficient variety on the menu. Our 4-top had 2 steaks and 2 entree salads, and all were quite satisfied."

Over all will not recommend unless this is the last standing steak house in Chicago. Oh btw did I mention the house salad was mediocre at best, fast food salad is waaaaaaay better."

  • "Dinner close to Symphony Center---we try to hit a different venue for every performance in our series. This time it was a high note. I had the "small" filet @ 8oz more beef than I can eat---but superb. Preceded by a delicious cup of pea soup. Hubby had fish and said it was perfectly done. To top this great meal - a really good cup of coffee for him and delightful herb tea for me. The waiter and manager chatted and checked on us carefully."

  • "Host was good and helpful and that, sadly, was the highlight. Repeatedly had to ask other servers and bus boys to find our server. The first time our food was brought out my companions omelette had no filling (she ordered the daily special, nothing particular) of course we had to find another server to replace it. My sandwich (Prime Rib French dip) was cold and basically raw (I like rare prime rib for reference) with an aus jous that tasted like it was blended with Heinz 57 sauce. For the price I would expect more attention to detail, better flavor and imagination from the food. Very underwhelming at best."

  • "this was supposed to be a chop house steak, but my ribeye was average at best. I was expecting something more for the $50 price tag; something along the lines of being one of the top-ten best steaks I've ever eaten; what's was worse is that I had to fight more grisel than I have ever seen in a rib eye. Maybe it was an off night, but you can't have an off night or hide behind "Chicago Steak House" at the price paid. On a great note the service was excellent, and the side and dessert I had were very good. I would try them again, but not for the steaks."

  • "I'm a steak guy. The quality of the NY strip here was aweful. It did not look good (it had that grey look on the outside) and did not taste good. I could only manage 3 or 4 bites before giving up. The service was fine. The waiters were all young which can suggest high turnover. We are in a booth, but the bar scene up front was crowded and lively. Perhaps a good place for drinks and appetizers. Not a place for steak lovers."

  • "Made a reservation for a late (830p) dinner on a very cold night. Arrived and no one was at door to greet or check me in. I waited a minute or two and although people saw me no one came to the desk to check me in so I went to the bar. (during dinner I received a call asking where I was "the bar, no one was there to check me in, so I came to your bar" - answer was "you're at the bar? ok?"). Bartender unhappy to be there. Salad tasted of refrigerator. Bone in NY strip arrived no bone and not very warm. Also was tough and oversalted. Indifferent service. Indifferent cooking. I won't go back when there are other chp houses that care."

  • "We went for dinner on the way to the theater. As pompous as that sounds, we don't go "into the city" often and this was a special occasion. We go out to dinner way more often than we go to shows or I'd have been really upset. The service was awful. There was no sign of our server after we received our food. We switched meals (he'd ordered medium, it was cooked rare), eaten, and it was time to order dessert or leave. We left. Tipped only because I waited tables for five years and refuse to stiff anyone."
