A word from Grace's
When owner Johnny Carrabba set out on his next restaurant venture, he knew his vision would include the fond memories he had of his dear grandmother Grace Mandola. Grace, also known to the family as Mama, was a Sicilian woman born to immigrant parents in Louisiana. She had a flair for cooking, hospitality, and deep faith.

She was known to make bread from scratch every Saturday for her legendary three-hour Sicilian Sunday lunches; and, her newly established family roots in Louisiana added interesting flavors to her home cooked meals. The entire Mandola family, including her five children and fourteen grandchildren, was regularly greeted in her home with smells of warm bread, well brewed sauces and homemade soups. It was around her table that her family learned the true meaning and value of relationships, friendships and good food. These memories are realized when one walks into Johnny Carrabba’s new restaurant, Grace's.

  • "We went for HRW to give this place a try since we'd never been before..We were not disappointed. We had reservations for 6:45 and arrived promptly. The hostess said our table would be ready shortly. No big deal...we were willing to wait a bit. Jason ( I believe he is the GM) came over to us in the waiting area and offered a complimentary cocktail for having to wait!! We were totally taken by surprise as we didn't feel a few minutes was anytime to have to wait. The HRW menu didn't have any gluten free items (which I have to abide by) so the waiter substituted a GF entree for me at no extra charge. I have to say my husband and I don't usually like "chain" restaurants (this one is Carabbas) but we will certainly return!Great service,great food"

  • "Grace's is a great place for business lunch that I frequent and had planned to do more so now that Haven is closed. This time was bad in that I checked in for my reservation and told the person at the desk the name of my guest I was expecting. When she arrived, she was told I was not there and seated in another part of the restaurant. When I checked with my waiter, I was told she had not arrived. We wasted 20 minutes until both of us started walking the restaurant looking for one another."

From the shrimp burger, to the beef burger to the snapper special, cooked and seasoned perfectly. Generous portions w excellent fries!   • "This was my wife and my first visit. Our experience with the staff was first rate - the hostess, waitress and floor manager were all very friendly, efficient and professional. The food was delicious. The ambience was superb - very quiet and comfortable. The only let down for me (and why I gave 4 stars instead of 5 for the food) was their gluten free menu. The menu basically said "remove the xxx" ("xxx" being the bread or croutons on the regular item) from each regular menu item. There was no gluten free breads nor pastas as options. All other restaurants I have experienced have gluten free substitutes."

  • "My wife and I were celebrating our 35th anniversary this past weekend and we ate out quite a bit. We went with some friends who love Carrabbas on Friday night to Grace's for dinner and loved it. Had Gustavo as our waiter and he was incredible. His suggestions were spot on and dinner was amazing. We had reservations for Quattro for Sat night and it was a big letdown compared to Grace's. On Sunday, our actual anniversary date we decided to try Grace's for lunch and had the Shrimp Burger. We shared it along with the beer battered fries which are crispy and flavorful. Then we had the chocolate cake for dessert. We shared everything and left stuffed. It was a great dining experience."

He comes highly recommended and I recommend him to everyone who goes there. Ask for Gustavo. If he's good for Debra Duncan then he's good for you."

  • "When you're greeted at the door with "Welcome back!", you know you've come to the right place. We've dined here several times and are always blown away by the service, as well as the food. Indeed, it feels like going to the home of a family member, if your family member knows exactly the way you like your steak cooked and can cook Italian, Cajun and Asian like a pro! Try the Wagyu strip steak for a bit of carnivorous heaven...my partner says its the best steak he's ever had. Sides are not just an afterthought here, and the lemon cannoli...wow!"

Service started out a bit slow, but we were a large group and everything went smoothly once we got our drinks and ordered our food. Some of the steaks were a bit overcooked, but the flavor was great!   • "We went here with another couple. We had reservations for 7:30. We arrived 5 minutes late, but were seated within 5 minutes of arrival. Drinks from the bar were great. We did not eat an appetizer, but instead went straight to our main course. I had the braised beef short rib. It was excellent. My husband had the burger. It was huge, and he said it was very tasty. Our friend ate the crab cake. I tasted it, and it was exquisite! The carrot cake was out of this world! Our waitress was efficient and very personable. Highly recommend Grace's!"

  • "I was very disappointed in the food and the service. The dishes were overseasoned and overcooked. And, the waiter was next-to-impossible to locate when we had questions, needed to order, etc. The building itself is beautiful, though it gets very noisy with all of the large parties. And, I liked the option of parking in the garage, instead of using the valet service. I had such high expectations for Grace's, but at this point, I do not plan on returning."

  • "My husband had Maw Maw's pork pot roast and it was delicious. So tender and juicy. It was absolutely wonderful. I had the Beef Stroganoff and it was very good. I have to say I loved my husband's roast better than my dish but then I usually like what he picks more than my own. We came her to try Houston's Restaurant Week and were surprised that hardly anyone was ordering off of the menu for it. By the taste of our food, the treatment of the wait staff and other employees we knew that this was a special place and were so glad we picked it out of all the restaurants involved in Houston's Restaurant Week to celebrate our anniversary."

  • "I had gumbo and they never did bring the rice to go with it. The server was a nice, very polite young man but no one has ever taught him how to pour wine. Not really his fault. He was putting forth a good effort. The gumbo was good even without the rice and the brussel sprouts were very tasty. All in all a not great but good experience."

  • "My first experience at Grace's was alright - I think I ordered the wrong thing for my palate. This time, I was prepared to order from the Houston Restaurant Weeks' menu, so I knew I wasn't going to be disappointed. First course was Tortilla Soup - it was absolutely fantastic. I will definitely have that again (perhaps lunch in the bar with a salad). Second course - beef stroganoff - was so incredibly rich; it was alright, but not great - I really couldn't keep eating it, it was so rich. My friend had the pot roast, which again was so rich, it was impossible to finish even half of the plate. Last course was the Godiva Freeze - and that was really really good. I'll give it another chance, 3rd time's a charm."
