Diner Reviews
  • "Brought our out-of-town guests to this location as a special night out. Our server was terrible, slow and non-existent after the food was delivered. The plates were hot but the food was luke warm. Our beer took over 10 mins to be delivered to the table and the server never came back for additional drink orders. We ordered a couple mini desserts and the waiter described them as much larger portions then they were. The cheesecake in particular was terrible and had no taste."

  • "Service was okay because the server we had was not knowledgable about the menu because she was new. She was also slow, but again, I think becasue she was new. Thank you."

  • "Food was much better than on recent previous visits. Had the Kobe mushroom swiss burger which was outstanding. Friend had the veggie burger which was also rated excellent. GB can be very noisy due to the interior surfaces so request a quiet table if you want to carry on a normal conversation. Service was excellent and very friendly."

  • "TheCalifornia burger is terrific ! Also liked bratwurst appetizer, on great pretzel rolls."

  • "We were late and needed to make a curtain at a nearby theater -- the waitress was very understanding, and made sure we were on time. However, it's very noisy."

  • "An utter delight! The food is brilliant, the wait staffer was attentive, energetic, knowledgeable, and overwhelmed us with her perfect yet unobtrusive service."

  • "This is our usual go-to dinner place when seeing a show or game at the Verizon Center. The service is usually quick, if not overly friendly. Food is decent and the menu has enough options for everyone. I wouldn't choose this as a romantic night-out, but better for a group of friends."

  • "I had the artisanal grilled cheese sandwich. I don't know how you can mess up a grilled cheese sandwich, but it was disappointing. The ambience and service were fine, but I was not pleased with my meal."

  • "We had early dinner on Sunday at Gordon Biersch in DC. Everything was fine except Apple Cider Coleslaw that was just terrible. I mentioned that to our server and she said that they are popular for their bear! What is that suppose to mean? I asked her to tell the Chef's not to make that Coleslaw anymore."

  • "I have been going to GB for a few years now and typically I get a burger. The burgers and fries are awesome! But I am trying to break out and try new things on their menu. On this visit I tried the CBLT - chicken, bacon, lettuce, and tomato with avacado mayo. First, it's a nice size sandwich, something you can really sink your teeth into and doesn't fall apart. The sourdough bread is toasted and just thick enough to hold all that yumminess (is that a word?). Bacon, avacado - need I say more. It's a good combo and with the signature cole slaw (also something I don't usually get but then again I'm breaking out) it was a nice change for something different. So break out, look at the menu, try something new! I did and liked it."

  • "I needed a place with a large menu since I had a serious carnivore and a vegetarian dinning with me. The food fit the bill. As always, very good. Requested outdoor table since inside is always super loud. The waiter was friendly but very inattentive. Took forever to take drink order, bring the drinks, take food order, or refill water glasses. I know it's a tourist stop, but I'm not a tourist. Won't be returning anytime soon."

  • "We stopped here for our last night in DC and it turned out to be the best meal of the trip. Some of the other higher rated restaurants were just barely average so this was a nice surprise. Drinks were great, prices very reasonable, nice flavors, good service. No complaints here. "

  • "Located near to our office, we frequently bring guests here for lunch. The options on the menu are great and our guests are normally satisfied. The service can be slow and it's tough to get in and out of the restaurant in an hour; so if you are on a time crunch, be sure to let you server know. I would recommend as a place to eat and will be returning. "

  • "We are visiting from NYC and needed a great place to eat with two children (girls, 7 & 11) while still maintaining a nice dinner ambience. We found it in Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant. The scene was energetic with a well planned dinning round centered around a bar on one side, wall to wall windows on the other side and a quieter side around the corner. Food and service was excellent. We definitely recommend. "

  • "We made this our post- Nats game dinner and we were not disappointed. The restaurant was very accommodating as we grew from a six top to a nine top about an hour before our reservation. Service and food were excellent and the beer selections is outstanding!"

  • "Since we were between activities at Ford's Theater, the restaurant worked very well for us. We had a reservation, however, the five gentlemen who entered ahead of us did not. The person at the reservations desk went to look for a table for them and left us standing there for at least 10 minutes. Finally, when he did not return, a waiter stepped up and seated us. Otherwise, the food and beer were very good. "

  • "All the reviews I read were exactly right about service-we got seated, did not give us all the menues, a waiter came by said he would get water and be back "in a sec"...it was 10 minutes he came back with water....then we ordered drinks and apps...10 minutes to be back with drinks. So each time we decided we needed to order for what we wanted in the next 30 minutes. He seemed stressed and bothered. But another waiter stopped and we loved him...the apps for happy hour are small, and the garlic fries were cold, but still good. The kobe black and blue burger was great.....the stir fry great, the cobb flatbread amazing, and the turkey meatloaf excellent."

  • "Two in our party of four ordered dishes that came with rice--the Jambalaya and a taco platter. When their meals arrived, our server explained that they were temporarily out of rice and it would be out shortly. He offered to bring fries as a substitute, which were declined--fries with Jambalaya or tacos? Huh? No. The rice never arrived and no further explanation was given. Otherwise, the service was okay and the food was very good. This was our first experience at the DC location and have been to the Annapolis location many times, so the slight disappointment in this visit won't deter us from visiting a Gordon Biersch restaurant again."

  • "Gordon Biersch has a good location, nice interior and outside cafe, and a gluten-free menu. The noise level is pretty high, so quiet conversation can be difficult. And, as for the food, it is okay...just okay."

  • "We go to G-B after games quite often. The waiter was overwhelmed. Forgot the orders three times. Brought the wrong wines. Didn't bring one drink. Forgot to bring water after couple of requests. Very nice fellow, but couldn't keep up. We were there late and the food tasted as though it had been cooked much earlier and just warmed up. Not a good experience, but we will go back. Wish it had been better."

  • "I have celiac disease so was ordering from the GF menu. I specifically requested blue cheese chips from the GF menu (in fact pointed that out on the menu) which said to order w/out blue cheese sauce. They came with the sauce and the server said he didn't realize I wanted GF and sorry, but they were now out of the chips; I sent them back."

  • "This spot is right in the heart of the city. Conveniently located near the Gallery Metro train station & International Spy Museum. Great food for the entire family. Make sure to request the beer sampler; it's fun!"

  • "This is my kids ages 17 and 13 favorite spot. They love dining in DC and it's close to shopping for them at Zara and H&M. There's always clean plates once the bill comes because they love everything they order. "

  • "This spot was right by the Intl Spy Museum so we figured it would be packed and it was. We were thankful to get a table with no wait due to Open Table. Large place with good brews and the flatbread pizzas were delicious. Kids had the Mac & cheese which was like Kraft and they liked it. They were understaffed so it was a little slow but they did very well despite that. "

  • "Had lunch with a party of 6. Once we got our beverages, it was 20 mins before our server came to take our order. It took another 40 mins to actually get our food. 4 of us ordered burgers and the other 2 ordered stir frys. The stir frys were hot and tasty. The burgers were all cold and one of the buns was covered in blood juice from a medium cooked burger that was asked to be cooked well done. None of the sides came out right. We finally complained to manager as the server didn't come back for a long time. Thankfully the manager comped the beverages and the one burger. I won't be back."

  • "Good was serviceable, but service was not good. The server missed two Irma we ordered and failed to bring condiments after two requests. Beer was good as expected, but the meatloaf was horrible."

  • "Dependable and good bar food. Great for happy hour or lunch, before or after an event at the sports center. Not fine dining but great for a burger and beer kind of meal. Service was excellent."

  • "Food was good, service and ambience very good. They delivered my bill without my credit card, which took them a while to find."

  • "We did not get service for 15 minutes after we sat down. When I brought this to the attention of the manager, we immediately got a free appetizer and the service after that was very attentive. They also gave us a business discount on the bill to apologize. The food was good and served hot. Their garlic fries were very good."

  • "I want to thank the staff at the resturant for accomodating my miscount on the number of diners. I placed a reservation for six and we actually had seven. I was very embarassed because it was a business function - not a family function. It was my fault but the staff accomodated us. Thanks again!"

  • "Food is very good, atmosphere is lively but not too loud. Right near the Verizon Center. Tables are not crowded together in the restaurant so it feels spacious. All in all, a very good experience. We would definitely come back when in DC."

  • "Always enjoy going to GB--did not realize that Tuesdays were $2.50 beers--nice surprise. Love the building (it was an old bank) at 9th st DC--just do not like the noise--can be deafening at times especially on hockey nights with fans."

  • "A kitchen fluke delayed our meal, but they more than made up for it with comp'd salads and dessert. We had time, so the delay didn't cause a problem. It was nice to see a business so concerned about doing what it could to make it up to the customer. The delay was not typical."

  • "We made a reservation for 4pm, but were delayed because of an accident on the Metro green line. I called the restaurant at 3:40 to tell them that we were running late because of Metro, and asked for a later reservation. The hostess informed me that they would mark our reservation down as "running late" and push it back for us. We ended up driving into the city and made it to the restaurant by 4:32; our table was waiting for us and the staff was very friendly and pleasant to deal with. Food and beer was delicious as always, and our waitress was wonderful! Very pleased, as always, and can't wait to dine there again!"
