Diner Reviews
  • "Food was tasty, fresh and creative. Be warned they are not afraid to make the food spicy hot. I feel the need to go back with a designated driver so I can do some tequila tasting!"

  • "I have always liked Geronimo's. The food is not really Mexican, but it's taste is pretty close. The guacamole is awesome. Yet, the main reason I always return is because the service is really good."

  • "This restaurant has great food and ambiance. I highly recommend the Frybreads, everything from Margaritas to dessert were plated excellently and tasted incredible. The decor is well designed and executed. Service was lacking toward the end of the meal as they were trying to fit in a large party and move us along. First we weren't asked if we wanted dessert and then asked if we would mind moving to accommodate a large group. We felt obligated to move even though we didn't want to."

  • "Just kinda average. Not bad, but not crazy terrific either."

  • "From the heated outdoor patio, to the varied indoor décor - Geronimo's is a fun place to be. The food options, for a 'southwestern' grill, are varied and interesting. It's obvious you could enjoy a long meal with multiple courses. But my wife and I had only 45 minutes before a show and the service was friendly, helpful and quick. There are less expensive items that hit the spot such as the soft tacos or the amazing BLT. If you want a quiet spot, Geronimo's is not your place. But we liked the busy Friday night atmosphere and will definitely return."

  • "I never get to go to Geronimo as often as I like (I don't live nearby), but I am never disappointed when I go. On this occasion I brought a few friends. Everyone loved the meal quality, and the portion sizes were very fair. I ordered the pork pibil at recommendation from my waiter, which notes in the menu that it has tequila in it. You'd assume it was cooked in the pulled pork, right? No. After our meals were brought out my waiter came back with a bottle of tequila and topped my pork with it straight! A surprising but delightful addition. Tableside guacamole - always a crowd pleaser. Great cocktails. Also, the fireplace - GORGEOUS and creative. Definitely a fantastic experience as always. More high-fives to our waiter who was so fun!"

  • "Menu was confusing, excellent tequila list but a little overpriced, excellent decor but music was a little loud. I recommend this place for drinks and light appetizers - the main dishes are not very good."

  • "Table side guacamole is great! The atmosphere is lively and the food is imaginative Southwestern. Great tequila selection and margarita menu. Heated outdoor seating is great for a group."

  • "We were very happy with our recent trip to Geronimo. This had been our second trip to Geronimo. Even though it had been over 6 months since our first, our server remembered us and what we liked. Needless to say, we were highly impressed with the service. The food was great. We will be back again soon."

  • "much too noisy and the food was mediocre; wouldn't return."

  • "I want to do a dinner with my sister before she went back to school in maryland. She picked the place. I didnt realize I should reserve a table until I got to the website. Good thing I did. It was packed. Its not a big deal because it is localed in downtown and I didn't expect anything less. What I didn't expect is to have the great service that we had. I mean I havent had this kind of service in a while and that speaks volumes. Food was good all of the staff was very polite and wanted us to have the best service. Very happy with the experience."

  • "The table next to us was an extremely loud table of friends. I could barely hear my girlfriend speak even though she was sitting directly across from me. I've had significantly better experiences at Geronimo. Thankfully their Fish Tacos and Lobster Enchiladas were incredibly satisfying. Great meal, poor environment."

  • "Good spicy margaritas, tasty guacamole and decent entrees. Bit loud for a date but seems like it caters well to boozy group dinners. I'm a bigger fan of the bar scene than of the menu."

  • "I LUV LUV LUV Geronimo's They are my "it" place to go to with the girls or my guy to spend time. I always enjoy the food and the atmosphere. The selections of margueritas are GREAT!! It can be a bit hard to get seating during the cold months and sitting on the heated patio isn't always a fav....yet they do there ABSOLUTE BEST to accomodate you!!! So thanks to the staff and all the hard work. I am someone who appreciates it very much!!! p.s. Did I say I LUV THE FOOD/ DRINKS....lol"

  • "I can't say much more, because this is all we ate! We sat at the bar on a Friday night; it was lively, but not too loud. We ordered table-side guacamole, and while it probably took longer than it needed to make it, it was delicious - actually some spice, which is hard to get on the east coast! Margarita was also good - not to sweet..."

  • "Fun place, good food, excellent tequila choices, but seating was a problem. We were seated in the bar area on a long high-top table, squeezed between 2 other parties. We had made a reservation but the hostess insisted that she couldn't seat us at a table for 4 b/c they were all set up for 2 people (the idea of combining 2 tables seemed out of the question)."

  • "I normally eat at ethnic restaurants, but Geronimo's is a Nice in-between...interesting menu selections...often I am hard pressed to pick just one thing, which keeps me coming back again and again. Highly recommend the Guacamole appetizer. I have always been happy with the freshness of my food, my service and the prices are extremely reasonable. New Location in Fairfield!"

  • "The evening couldn't have gone any better, the drinks, food, and service was top notch! Oh and the guacamole (sorry about the spelling) was second to none!!"

  • "Came w/~20 people for a farewell dinner/drinks for coworker. Service was chaotic, waiter was fair, drink runners/ avocado mashers were outstanding & took food orders when waiter was MIA. Chicken burrito was AWFUL (no flavor & DRY) sweet potato fries tasted like zucchini & bacon was in a veggie dish. We were asked to leave our table so it could be used for another party so we went to the bar where a bartender discarded a half full drink, argued it was empty, didn't apologize & was generally rude. As we discussed going elsewhere, the manager (who apparently was the owner's sister but claimed she was the owner) starred at our group with MAJOR ATTITUDE, cut off a member of our party & kicked us out. WORST dining experience ever-WASTE of money."

  • "Geronimo is always good- lively atmosphere, great margaritas and yummy apps. Eat at the bar- it's more fun than at the tables, where the ambiance is more sedate. The bartenders are attentive, but not pushy. All ages flock there, which makes it more fun."

  • "My husband wanted "Mexican Food" but this is definitely Southwest and it was excellent, nothing like he was looking for. He loved it and so did my daughter. Cucumber and blood orange margaritas are a good starter cocktail with Tableside guacomole and el knachos. Crayfish tamale entre was unique and while I was stuffed from the appetizers I had to finish it all!! Bar scene looked like fun but we had to move on."
    Dined on 1/17/2014
  • "Tables are so tight that the wait staff's rear would jostle items on the table going by even when they were very careful, The spicy guacamole was only moderately spicy for those of us from Texas, next time I will ask for extra spicy. That holds true for all the food, it lacked spice but was very tasty. The jalapeño infused margarita was excellent and the perfect level of spice. We will be back."

  • "My husband had the Mac and cheese (and even warmed up the next day) was amazing. Since this review is a being posted a month late, I don't remember my meal ( I remember that it was very tasty) but I DO remember the spicy blood orange margarita! Just the right amount of heat and can't wait to go back for another. The table side prepared guacamole was wonderful. Terrific restaurant"

  • "the food here is always good, but I'm still always surprised when I try something new and they continue to exceed my expectations. Its hard to not get the same thing that you love here, but all of the menu is fantastic. The Pork Polleno is hands down the best thing that I've had there so far! And the table side guacamole, is so beyond fresh that it is more than just a side dish. And of course when going there you can't forget about the HUGE variety of tequila that they have and all of the novel and delicious variations on margaritas and other drinks that they make there. Geronimo's is definitely a continuous top pick for me."

  • "I took my family out to Geronimo, and boy was it a treat! Food and drinks were marvelous, and the service was exquisite! We went on a tasting menu straight out of the Southwest! The balance of sweet and savory as well as the perfect blend of spices made our palates crave more and more! Whats great is I heard from the wait staff talk about opening a new location in Fairfield. This is awesome because it will be closer to our home! We actually had one of the trainees wait on our table. We could not tell who was training by the end of the night, service was impeccable!"

  • "I love this place but on my last visit they rush us out because they were overbooked. And they wouldn't move us to a larger table and half the tables near me were empty the whole time I was there.I will go back but have some class and dont rush your guests out."

  • "Generally speaking, I love Geronimo's. This visit one might say that the Christmas music was a bit loud, but still had an excellent time. Great food, great drinks, and great service. In New Haven, you won't find a better evening spot."

  • "This was my first time at Geronimo. The food was great. I had a portobello burrito that was outstanding - really! My husband had shrimp tamales that he loved. The food lived up to its reputation. There was a big crowd. Most of the restaurant was filled. It is loud in there, but it made for fun. If you want a quiet corner to dine in for some romantic evening, this is probably not the place (We still held hands across the table most of the evening and it was great). However, if you want delicious food, you should really consider Geronimo. The basement is a large cavern-like room that hold private parties. I went to see what it was like and the people invited me in to join them! The atmosphere is friendly. I will certainly go back"

  • "We love Geronimo's for Theatre nights even though we're older and this tends to be a younger crowd. Food is exceptional especially the tableside guacamole and the lobster mac and cheese. It's also great for lunch as I work nearby and they have great salads."

  • "Had a reservation for 6:15pm on a Friday night, did not realize how loud it would be! But they were nice enough to guide us to the back when we asked for a quieter table. At least we could hear each other back there. (maybe we just hit happy hour?) Service was excellent, the waitstaff were very attentive without being overbearing. Food was yummy, typical southwestern fare (nachos, tacos, quesadillas), nothing surprising but well seasoned and generous portions. Would definitely be a great place if in the mood for bar crowd"

  • "Wonderful dinner with perfect drinks, friendly bar staff, hostess was so polite and accomodating, amazing meal with good portions for a reasonable price. Unique menu where I think I would come back soon to try many different things. Was my 1st time but I can see why my husband raves about it. One thing was the food was exceptionally spicy despite my liking spicy food, will just ask that be toned down, but again, lots of flavor so worth it."

  • "The food was wonderful, our waitress was the worst!! She was polite but rediculously forgetful. She took our drink orders got them wrong. Our dinner order...we ordered 7 different dinners to share for 6 people...4 dishes came out..we asked where were are other 3? She said 2 more were on there way. (30 minutes later) What about our Nacho's?...Oh sorry you wanted Nachos? She must of apoligized 100 times throughtout our entire stay. The bus boy brought us extra sour cream and thank god he did because when she showed up with it after being reminded twice we were done with our Nachos. Oh sorry..Really? The kicker is 18% tip added to bill. We argued about leaving that tip!! Ridiculous!! Alyssia use a pad and pen next time..oh yeah she did!! :("
