  • "great meal with great service. I loved the funnel bread pudding!"

  • "My wife and I have made it a mission to have the Sunday Brunch every time we come to the island. This is our sixth visit since 2006. Each time, the food has gotten worse and the price has gotten higher, to the point we won't go back. This time, they offered a "Prime Rib" as an a la carte choice as part of the brunch. What we were served was not Prime Rib. We got an overcooked, tough piece of cheap sirloin. To add insult to injury, the bread pudding, which used to be my wife's favorite, is now just a hard, dried out chunk of yuck. It used to be moist and delicious, with a container of vanilla sauce next to it for added flavor. To us, at least, a total waste of our hard earned money"

  • "Very good food - we had reservations at 11 so we got the live music and it was worth making reservations for"

  • "We always eat there the night we take our late night flight to leave Kaui! Lovely venue. Excellent food. Aloha!"

  • "This was meant to be a special Dinner for my Girlfriend. I wrote a note about it. No one at any time came over to acknowledge us or the moment. That was the whole purpose of the occasion to begin with. Pretty disappointed. If u are able to write notes about the occasion then the restaurant should at least take the time to read it."

  • "Our best meal while visiting Kauai was at Gaylord's. This is our four or five visit. Never disappoints"

  • "Was looking for a place to eat before our 930 flight that would be a nice final dinner on the island, and Gaylord's did not disappoint. Good food, beautiful setting, and very close to airport!"

  • "Sunday brunch at Gaylord's should not be missed. Unique, upscale buffet PLUS a choice of 3 additional entrees. Our choices included seared ahi eggs Benedict & prime rib sandwich. The best buffet items included garlic fried rice, rum bread pudding, char-grilled hamburger patties for loco moco, 3-cheese scrambled eggs, fresh house-made doughnuts, french toast with coconut syrup. Also fruit, salad, charcuterie, bagels & lox, etc. Top-notch service, bottomless mimosas, and make-your-own bloody Mary bar."

  • "We first found Gaylord's in 2000 when looking for a special place to celebrate our daughter's 21st birthday and it was the perfect find. It still is our favorite "special occasion" destination every time we are in Kauai. Food is delicious, service is so attentive and caring and ambiance is perfect. There is outdoor seating around a pretty courtyard with fresh flowers on the tables and live, music that's very pleasing to the ear! Gaylord's is always a highlight of our time on Kauai!"

  • "Excellent Sunday brunch. The food was delicious. For a brunch in Hawaii, there wasn't a lot of fish, but still everything was delicious. It is very well priced too -- a great value with a wonderful location."

  • "My family enjoyed our dinning experience - the food was excellent and the service was wonderful. We enjoyed the two gentlemen that provided Hawaiian music throughout our dinner. We had a group of seven for dinner. The prime rib was out of this world."

  • "This was an Open Table "find". Queried for restaurants in Lihui and about four came up. Probably the best seared Ahi EVER and mahi mahi was also outstanding. Lovely setting. Recommend highly. When we come back to Kauai will make a point to revisit. Shops all wonderful too."

  • "This restaurant is pretty, the service and ambviance were good, but overall the food was average. I ordered the caprese salad which was tasty, and the steak which was fatty with a large amount of grizzle. My son had the scallops and my husband the ribs and both thought their meals were good but not great. We had higher expectations based on the ratings and the expensive price."

  • "This is the third time we've had Sunday brunch at Gaylord's and each time it just gets better. We were seated at the garden end of the breezeway and there was an excellent ukelele player there along with his daughter, who performed some lovely hula dances to some of the songs. You get a main course, then there are many good dishes served buffet style, plus unlimited juice and coffee. It's located at the Kilohana Plantation, the former residence of one of Kaua'i's last sugar barons. Beautiful house and grounds, with a few shops as well. A lovely spot to end a vacation."

  • "We went to this restaurant to celebrate my wife 50th birthday. We had a great table with a view of the gardens. Food was great as well as the service. After dinner we went to yhe loung where a pianist was playing movies songs. Great souvenirs."

  • "I really loved this restaurant. Setting is an historic sugar plantation that is completely restored. My entire family enjoyed strolling the grounds. The food had fabulous flavors and lovely presentation. I had the seared ahi in a mustard sauce. I eat ahi fairly often, but this preparation is the best I have had. My son and daughter in law loved the fried chicken and corn waffle with a bourbon syrup. Better than Roscoes! Our waiter, Jeff, was charming, informative and attentive. He made sure to lower a screen when the sun hit our eyes. He also explained a lot about the history of Kauai plantations when we asked. The entire experience was so perfect....Vintage Kauai for sure."

  • "We had a very nice dinner here. The restaurant is set up in a type of horseshoe with a nice courtyard in the center. Dinner and service were really good."

  • "I went here with a girlfriend 3 yrs ago and vowed to take my future significant other here, which I was able to do last week. I was afraid the experience wouldn't be as awesome, but thankfully it was! The service was impeccable. We were also sat at the very end of the patio, almost on the grass-very romantic!"

  • "I ate at Gaylord's last summer & it was good! It's in a beautiful historic plantation house & after taking the train ride around the grounds earlier & learning all about the food & herbs that are grown on the property we wanted to try it. It was fine so we wanted to go back this year. Disappointingly there wasn't anything on the menu that was grown there (maybe some herbs) or even locally sourced on the island. My steak was gristly & salty."

  • "We booked our 15th anniversary meal at Gaylords after hearing it was one of the best romantic "special occasion" dinners on Kauai. Much to our horror, several tour buses arrived at the same time, carrying hundreds of people. Even though the tour crowd was ushered off to the luau (which was close to the "romantic dinner" area), the audience yelled, and drums and conch horns were continuous. The food was mixed: Ahi Poke was outstanding, and the Ono (that night's special) was horrid (overcooked and the sauce tasted canned). Service was attentive - overly attentive - and rushed. Plus, there was no mention that it was our anniversary, despite sending a note to the restaurant when we booked that it was a special night. We will not go back."

  • "The Mai Tai, the grounds, and the shops were great. The food was just OK and much too salty. The servers seemed very amateurish."

  • "Every time we go to Kaui we go to Gaylord's. The food is always good, sitting in the garden is very pleasant and the prices very reasonable for Hawaii. If you are visiting Kaui and want a nice meal away from the overpriced tourist places go to Gaylord's."

  • "We have been here many times. The food is very nice and tasty. They have a good variety and lots of creativity. The desserts are great be sure to save room. The chocolate and strawberry tart was amazing. The coconut cream pie is excellent. The service was not very good. We waited an hour before we got any bread and we had to ask for it. The waiter was not very attentive to us or our needs. We had a party of eight and was a bit disappointed in that department."

  • "I thought I made my reservation for lunch. Brunch was just so so."
    Dined on 6/22/2014
  • "The food was good and the ambiance was nice but the service could not have been worse. We were ignored by the server for at least 30 minutes. When we ordered, she apparently forgot to put our order in and we sat for another hour. It's a nice place and all but not worth sitting around for two hours for brunch. Lots of kids running around also."

  • "I'd heard a lot about Gaylord's and perhaps I expected too much. We went on Father's Day and had the brunch. The brunch was well stocked, but for the price per plate, I expected more higher end choices - Been to lower priced brunches that contained same choices. Also our waitress' attentiveness and friendliness was lacking. I also dislike restaurants that add automatic gratuity. We typically tip 20% and we had a party of 7 and we were automatically charged 18% so I guess it is their loss - we did not go above the 18% due to the poor service from our waitress."

  • "We have been coming to Kauai for years, and this was our first time visiting Gaylord's. We did not know what to expect and were greatly surprised with how nice everything was. The food was tremendous and reasonably priced for such a nice restaurant. Afterward we spent time in the lounge and listened to a great piano player Hank. This was a very special night for us and we couldn't have been happier. Will be going back here every year from now on"

  • "We make Gaylord's a special dinner each time we visit Kauai. The bar was busy and service good, however, the waiter who served us was terrible. We ordered an appetizer and main course. After 30 minutes, we asked another server to check on our order. The waiter returned to tell us he forgot to put our order in. The crab dip was tasty and my mahi mahi very good. My husband did not like the prime rib he ordered. Dessert of coconut-banana creme pie had little flavor. The best thing about our visit was the wonderful Hawaiian music to listen to during the meal. The guy who sang was fabulous!"

  • "The food wasn't good. For the price should have been much much better. Spring rolls seemed 100% cabbage and had off putting flavor. Cioppino had the 2 smallest calamari pieces ever seen and the blue crab was supposedly shredded & in the sauce (this not noted on menu). Couldn't be tasted. Also little gnats hovered around all night and landed on water glass and on plates."

  • "Discovered Gaylords's our first trip to Kauai and it is a must every time we come. Always lives up to expectations. Love this place!"

  • "After having several meals at beach-front establishments (all excellent!!) we 'took a chance' on Gaylords seeing how it is situated somewhat inland. The 'chance' we took was well worth it. The whole experience was excellent from being able to overhear the nearby Luau, to the short Kaua'i rain shower, to the Spring Roll appetizer to the perfectly prepared and so delicious seared Ahi and seafood pasta. The only reason we didn't go back is that we ran out of time! Great experience!"

  • "When I made the reservation, I told them it was for a birthday celebration and asked them if they had a small cake available. I was told they did. When we arrived , I mentioned it again and was assured again that they were aware if it. However, not once during the dinner did anyone say Happy Birthday to my wife, nor did a cake ever show up. Rather tHan make a scene and spoil my wife's birthday, I chose to not say anything. Now, overall the experience was okay. The menu is limited and my Mai Mai was bland and mushy. My wife said her meal was okay. Prices are high and not worth the cost for the quality of the food. The only thing Gaylord's has going for it is the ambience."
