  • Private Party Facilities: Located in the heart of Savannah"s historic City Market, Garibaldi is housed in the 1871 Germanian Fire House. Built in classic Paladdian architecture, the building is a beautiful presence in the market area. In the fashion of the era, the firehouses were commonly community meeting places. Thus, the Germanian Society erected a Grand Ballroom on the second floor of the building. With sixteen foot ceilings, fourteen foot arched windows and vintage iron chandeliers, it is one of the most beautiful dining rooms in Savannah, seating 120 and complete with its own private bar. The main floor is a beautiful Victorian room with lavish gilt mirrors, original pressed tin ceiling, romantically illuminated with whimsical chandeliers. Garibaldi offers a variety of menus, and specializes in customizing menus to your specific needs. Gracious service and outstanding food is our highest goal and has helped us earn the Zagat Award of Distinction once again for 2011/12.

Diner Reviews
  • "Excellent service. Outstanding food. Fair wine list. If you are in Savanah and looking for seafood that isn't of the fried variety like every other seafood this is the place for you."

  • "The service was phenomenal. We had a party of 8 women....loved our waiter. The food was impeccable. It is quite noisy when full but we had such a nice evening we ignored it."

  • "I was looking for great food in an elegant setting and Garibaldi's did not disappoint. Entering the bar on the street level I knew I had selected the right place to dine - a long bar along one wall, the old stamped tin ceiling and tables with candles glowing gave the impression of a private club while the beautiful arched windows in the second floor dining room gave a similar impression and added a magical quality. The food was excellent (the pan seared scallops with risotto was amazing), the service was superb (attentive but not intrusive) and the wine list offered a broad spectrum of vintages and price points. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for great food, beautifully presented, in a setting reminiscent of Old Savannah."

  • "The only negative was the wine list stated 2011 and they brought us a 2012. Everything else was great."

  • "We are never disappointed when we dine at Garibaldi Restaurant. We invited out-of-town relatives to meet us there for dinner. They were having drinks at the bar when we arrived, and they thought the bar area was great. But when we went upstairs to be seated for dinner, they were wowed. The mirrored walls and high ceilings make for such a romantic and beautifully Southern dining room. The food was delicious and our waiter was excellent. I highly recommend this as a place to eat when in Savannah."

  • "This is a fantastic place and I will tell all my friends to dine here. The service was first class but not too stuffy. Enjoy!!"

  • "Excellent food and service. Great for special occasion."

  • "The atmosphere is wonderful for a romantic or quiet family outing. Do NOT bring young loud children to this restaurant, as this would disrupt the atmosphere for other diners. Food was superb and had tasteful presentation. We took our out of town family and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Will definitely be back!"

  • "Excellent service from the get go. Lovely ambiance in this old Savannah establishment. Menu offers everything including specials. Oysters on the half shell were a delicious starter, especially with a touch of the unique cilantro dipping sauce (served on the side) along with the traditional cocktail sauce. All of us ordered a different fish entree, all excellent and creative, but the best was the Diamond Scored Crispy Flounder, their signature dish. The wait staff is attentive without hovering, knows their menu, and very nice. Real mix of people dining-families, small groups, tourists, locals (its been a local favorite for decades, for a reason). Great place for a special night out in downtown Savannah."

  • "My fiancee and I had a wonderful romantic date night at Garibaldi. Our service was delightful and our food was delicious! It was a little loud due to poor acoustics but the food and good service outweighed the loud noise. The staff were very attentive and went out of their way to accommodate a guest allergy."

  • "Went for anniversary dinner. Weren't informed that fish was full presentation which basically grossed out my wife. Manager was so cool offering to filet it. Surprised to find it removed from bill. Top notch customer service. Down to the neat shout out on our desert. Overall the food was ok. The staff and ambiance and management were great. I'd return for these reasons."

  • "Dined here on a recommendation from friend. Our server cedric was wonderful. Food was average. Might have been because we were not extremely hungry. Husband had gumbo and crabcake app. I had heart of palm salad and mussels. Mussels were very good. It was a very good menu with a good variety of items."

  • "The service was excellent. The food was outstanding can't wait to get back. The bartender Charlie certainly lived up to his reputation!"

  • "Food was very good. My husband got the scallops and they were wonderful. I got the lobster pasta and it was very good but a little heavy for what I was going for. Overall, a great experience. We also ordered little neck clams and the pear salad. They were both amazing!"

  • "Over the years my parents frequented Garibaldi's while visiting Savannah. Now that my mom has passed away, my husband and I have chosen to carry on their tradition and visit whenever we're in Savannah. What a special time!"

  • "Garibaldi's was my favorite restaurant on our trip to Savannah. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and it was just right for the occasion. I would highly recommend it. Not only did we have great food but the atmosphere was also perfect. I wish it was closer to home so we could visit regularly."

  • "Total mess up... I understand mistakes happen, but to ignore it is unacceptable. The server order the wrong dish for me. After waiting a few minutes for her to come and check on us I told her off the mistake. I then had to wait for a manager and he was "going to make it right." After waiting and eventually finishing our meal the table was cleared, the manager never came back with the lobster trail that he promised or to apologize. As if my meal mistake wasn't enough the kitchen substituded white rice for the risotto that my wife's meal was suppose to have. Don't set your expectations high for Garibaldi's. Manager never had the decency to come out of the back when we left. "

  • "Our server was wonderful, but even he couldn't make the food taste good. I had lobster pasta. Lobster, shrimp and muscles were perfectly cooked, pasta was ok, but the entire plate had no taste, completely bland. I don't think they even added salt to the pasta when it was boiling. It was like they took the plain pasta out of the water and put it on the plate with no sauce or seasoning, added a lobster tail, three shrimp and three muscles and served. The building atmosphere was very very nice. "

  • "This was a graduation night at SCAD and they were packed. Typically the service is better and the noise level is minimal. We will be back but if this had been our first experience, the food would be the only reason for our return. Typically this restaurant would deserve 4-5 stars in every category."

  • "I took my husband to Garibaldi to celebrate his new job. We had reservations for 7 was running a little late, but was seated right away upstairs; wow talk about classy, felt as if we were in Beverly Hills. Our waiter was on point with the menu and with the refills of our water and champagne. I wasn't familiar with their champagne list so he brought me 2 types to taste before placing my order, for food we ordered the Grande (oysters, shrimp and lobster tails) which was the freshest seafood we've ever tasted...delicious, and the grilled New York strip. Our waiter suggested to serve our Grande first and we shared the strip which was placed on 2 separate plates. We left full and very satisfied. Will definitely eat here again!"

  • "We were in Savannah for Memorial Day weekend - this was by far the best meal and best dining experience of the trip. We were well taken-care of, the food and knowledge of the menu preparations and wine list were impressive. Will definitely return."

  • "Attentive group of hostesses and our waitress was informative and knew the menu well. Perfect homemade (and hot) bread arrived quickly and all of our food choices were prepared well and were above average! I ordered The Girabaldi salad with toasted pine nuts, gorgonzola cheese, raspberries and a raspberry vinaigrette. Delicious. My crab cake that followed was served on a corn, butterbean and ham succotash which gave it a unique southern kick. My boyfriend ordered the seafood fettuccine which was full of shrimp, scallops, mussels, and lump crab. A lively, fun ambiance perfect for special occasions, girls night out, or date nights. Romantic yet festive. Make a reservation....Highly recommended. :)"

  • "I love Garibaldi's. The food is great, the restaurant is beautiful!! I ended up there both Friday and Saturday nights this week. But Saturday was a little nutty. Too busy and it just got away from them. We didn't even get served in the end. Just too busy....."

  • "Garibaldi's was recommended by our B&B while on our 10th anniversary trip to savannah. We had a reservation at 7:00 and were seated promptly. Our waiter was outstanding and the food met our expectations. They provide large portions at reasonable prices. The tables were a little close together but not a real issue. The manager checked on us several times and made us feel like he really cared."

  • "Long wait for food. Staff did not seem well trained. Forgetful, error prone. Crispy flounder was excellent. Noise level made it almost impossible to converse. Would not return."

  • "Enjoyed having mother's day dinner because it added a special elegance to our dining experience. We requested sitting upstairs and our requests was honored. Our waiter was very personable and attentive and had clear knowledge about the food presentations. I ordered a special, Halibut, which was prepared beautifully. It was charred perfectly with a risotto and asparagus. We enjoyed the crab cake and poached pear salad for starters. They were very accommodating for our vegan dinner and prepared a pasta dish that was enjoyed. The wine list is good but pricy. I would return again. I found the price to be mid range expenses but not excessive. It helped that we had wine by the class and not by the bottle. "

  • "Our reservations were for 7:00 on a Friday evening for a party of seven. They offered no valet parking. Dinner for six of us was served to us just before 9:00. My daughter's dinner did not arrive for another ten minutes. The noise level in the restaurant made it difficult to have a conversation. The food was disappointing. I would strongly recommend you choose another restaurant, if you enjoy good service and good food when you eat out."

  • "We went to Garibaldis to celebrate a graduation. It is a small restaurant and very very loud so it was hard to carry on a conversation. The prices are moderate to high for what you get. I had the special flounder. It was good but not fabulous and not worth $26. They have a drink called a PB&J (I think it stands for pineapple juice basil and jalapeno), and it was one of the best drinks I've every had. A very unsual combo of flavors. It's a martini type drink. Overall, it was a nice dining experience but I probably wouldn't go back unless it was a special occasion."
