  • Private Party Facilities: Located in the heart of Savannah"s historic City Market, Garibaldi is housed in the 1871 Germanian Fire House. Built in classic Paladdian architecture, the building is a beautiful presence in the market area. In the fashion of the era, the firehouses were commonly community meeting places. Thus, the Germanian Society erected a Grand Ballroom on the second floor of the building. With sixteen foot ceilings, fourteen foot arched windows and vintage iron chandeliers, it is one of the most beautiful dining rooms in Savannah, seating 120 and complete with its own private bar. The main floor is a beautiful Victorian room with lavish gilt mirrors, original pressed tin ceiling, romantically illuminated with whimsical chandeliers. Garibaldi offers a variety of menus, and specializes in customizing menus to your specific needs. Gracious service and outstanding food is our highest goal and has helped us earn the Zagat Award of Distinction once again for 2011/12.

    There are two parking garages that are conveniently located nearby
    • Whitaker Street Garage (entry from Whitaker Street which is one way street)- From I-16 Take MLK Blvd exit and turn left, go all the way to Bay Street and turn right. Go to Whitaker Street and turn right, the garage entrance will be on your right.

  • "Our first dining experience here was everything we could have asked for. We were able to book a table for 4 within an hour of arriving and the restaurant was quite busy. Our server was great, replenishing silver as needed, and running through detailed specials for the night. Our meal consisted of the flounder (to DIE for), lobster pasta, cajun chicken, and chicken marsala. All of our appetizers and entrees were completely finished, nothing left! Coming from fine dining restaurant backgrounds, we were all impressed and would highly recommend Garibaldi's to anyone looking for great quality food, special occasions, and amazing ambiance. We will be returning for sure!"

  • "The decor is formal Italian with lots of black and gold, good for a special occasion though there were many diners in informal "tourist" attire. The food was outstanding - we both had the chef's special fish dish - grouper - it was truly wonderful! The service was "strange" the only way I can describe it. Not bad, but a bit confusing. I asked for a second glass of wine with my entree and finally got it when I was over half way finished. The explanation was that she had to wait for someone to go get another bottle. To the credit of our waitress, she deducted the cost of the second glass from the bill, which was $100 for two salads and entrees with one wine, before tax and tip. We would recommend it because the chef is soooooo good!"

  • "Good-The waiter was nice, did inform us of house specials. We got seated up stairs, it was really nice; had a very romantic feel.Bad- place was very loud, my date and I had to yell to talk to each other,(for the enjoyment of the place using your inside voice is recommended). I had seafood fettucini alfredo. It was dry, overall taste was ok. My date had tilapia, it was good. Waiter did make a commitment about class my date and I thought was inappropriate. Overall it was ok"

  • "I had such a great time eating here the other night. I will say that even with a reservation, they couldn't seat me right away. It was REALLY busy. Luckily there was room at the bar and that turned out great. Both bartenders were great, but one in particular was FABULOUS. I believe he was Charlie. The older of the two, FULL of personality and such great service. Bald with a goatee. Two tourists were sitting at the end with me and he just constantly kept our drinks full, our bread replenished and the conversation great with many suggestions for things for the two gals to do. Just a really fun time, with GREAT food and service."

  • "Three of us recently spent two days in Savannah. We all agreed that the dinner we had at Garibaldi was the very best we had had in some time. Unfortunately, we all had the Veal Piccata; so there was no possibility of comparisons. However, we all agreed that the veal was out of this world; tender, juicy, and flavorful. The sauce was perfection and the helpings generous. We loved the ambience. Nothing spare and modern here. It was wonderfully rich and opulent. We all felt we had stepped into a film set from the 40's."

They make a wonderful crispy scored flounder which is only found in a small handful of restaurants between Charleston and Savannah; order the not obvious and let them delight you."

  • "After a less than positive experience at the Olde Pink House last year, on my most recent trip to Savannah this year I decided to give Garibaldi's a try. It is both similar, yet different. The Crispy Scored Flounder was just as good as the Pink House, and service was above-average as well. Beware of inflated cocktail costs...but otherwise I'm glad I chose Garibaldi's this time around."

  • "I would suggest that the crispy duck was way too dry. I was prepared for something that had been recently cooked rather than something that had sat around for a while. Second, I was unprepared for the noise especially from the first floor. Luckily we were on the 2nd floor. But the noise level was still very high. I suggest placing something like tapestries (inexpensive) on either the walls or rugs on the floor to soak up some of the noise."

  • "Perhaps we just ordered the wrong things, but disappointed in appetizer. Ordered shrimp risotto cake and it is a deep fried cake of risotto with shrimp on top. It wasn't what I expected. Main course was lobster rabini and it is just two tails with the shell on top of fettuccini alfredo and then covered with a sherry sauce. Meal was only average and there are better places in Savannah to eat at. Would tell friends to eat at other places first."

  • "A friend recommended Garibaldi's to us - we knew the minute we walked into the restaurant that we would have a great time. People were having fun. we sat at the bar - had some champagne, and then were seated at a lovely half-round booth - there were 3 of us. The grouper was very good, the orzo was bland and not exciting, but it did not matter - we loved every part of the dinner: the wine, the oysters etc. We would go back in minute."

  • "We were greeted by friendly smiling hostesses. Charlie (at bar) offered a new gin for our coctails while we waited for our friend to join us. His exuberant personality set the stage for the evening. Our waitress Lauren was wonderful and very attentive. My wife did order a steak to be cooked medium which arrived well done but was immediately corrected by the staff in short order. The manager came directly to our table to apologize for the oversight within a moment of hearing about the mix up. They recovered well and it was a great experience overall. We will definitely return to Garibaldi's."

  • "To start, we had a drink at the bar. Bartender was energetic & gave a few great recs. Once seated, our server (Chase) was prompt, equally energetic & informative. For app, we shared the Denver lamb ribs (house fave). They were great, but I will say the sauce was a bit on the sweet side. Great portion for shared app, but would have been tough to follow w the duck entree, as it uses the same sauce. For entree, I had a mahi mahi special w crab & corn risotto and some kind of amazing seafood sauce. Absolute heaven. Fish was cooked perfectly, risotto was very well done. My bf had the veal chop, raved about it the rest of the night and most of the next day. Unfortunately, we were too full for dessert, but will be back soon to check it out!"

  • "We were less than pleased with this restaurant... The restaurant itself is very historic & pretty, but that is about as good as it gets. The noise level was ridiculous, the service was horrible and the food can be described as "good" at best. I had a mahi special and my husband had the strip. Both entrees were warm & seemed like they had been ready for a while before arriving to our table. I would not recommend this restaurant... There are lots of better choices in Savannah!"

  • "We've eaten at Garibaldi's several times, both in Savannah and Columbia. This time we ate there on March 16, and the raucous St. Patrick's Day crowd was in town. I was disappointed to see that diners were allowed to keep their ball caps on, wear t-shirts with rude sayings and get very loud. We just thought Garibaldi's was classier than that. I was also disappointed that our server didn't tell me until AFTER the meal that I could have ordered a half plate of linguine primavera, and not have wasted so much. The food is delicious and desserts are sinful."

  • "We had guests (6) come to Savannah for St. Patrick's Day Parade. They wanted to eat downtown on Saturday 3/15 but i was apprehensive about the crowds and wait times at restaurants. We decided to take them to Garibardi's and I went to open table and was able to book a table for 8 with no problem. Dinner was great. It was a little noisier than usual but I think that was because the guests at the bar were in a festive mood. We were still able to converse, enjoy a great meal and we were not rushed. The evening was a great success."

  • "Made the mistake of going on a Saturday night. Food superb, service impeccable but unbelievably noisy. The tin ceiling and mirrored walls cause the sound to reverberate to the extent that it was difficult to hear the four people at our table. We love Garibalti's, more than the Olde Pink House of the same ownership, and Anson's in Charleston. We would make a point, however, of going during the week rather than a weekend. That is, of course, if we wanted to actually talk at dinner. Texting might solve the problem."

  • "Never been to a restaurant where the waiter is so focused on getting you out. Before we barely had a glass of wine, the salad came. Before that was finished, waiter came 2xs to try to take it away. Dinner came-- hot plates and undercooked food--and the waiter must have come back not even 10 minutes hopeing to take plates away... came back perhaps six times as our group of 4 were engaged in conversation... then came dessert menu that waiter hoped we would order-- had to come back perhaps 4 times... we ordered, dessert came at the speed of light and he came back another 4 times trying to take away the dishes before we were done... The most annoying dinner I have had, to say nothing of the fact that the entree was barely edible.."

But the service was rushed and the server didn't tell us ahead of time of dishes that the restaurant was out of or those that had ingredients we don't eat that were not listed on the menu. The restaurant was extremely noisy, and it seemed the idea was to move people through, not create a fine dining experience. That was disappointing, as the dining room was beautiful and comfortable."

The Seafood Fettuccini Alfredo and Clams & Linguine were also excellent. The portions were big for the Fettuccini and Linguine. All in all the food was excellent."

  • "The food was very good, their specialty flounder dish was excellent as were the other fish specials others at the table ordered. Service was professional and friendly, very efficient but not obtrusive. We went on a busy Saturday night and were seated at one of the dining room banquettes by the bar and it was pretty "lively" in terms of the noise level so enjoy the scene or ask for a table a bit further away from the bar."
