My wife and I celebrated
Valentines Day here and really enjoyed our evening. They had a set menu but everything we ordered was delicious. My wife had the seafood salad which was prepared perfectly and then ravioli which she really enjoyed. I had the scallop appetizer and then the lobster fra diablo. My wife found it too spicy for her liking but I thought it had the right amount of heat. My only minor criticism is that I thought the pasta was a little too al dente. For my tastes, I think another 15-30 seconds of cooking would have been better."

The owner has done a great job of
renovating the restaurant after purchasing. It is a welcoming atmosphere and well designed. Food was fantastic. Service not what we expected as our waiter didn't come to us for 15 minutes (bus boy did and a sommelier. )"

Twice I had the branzino and once
the orata. They came moist and full of flavor. Perfect! Just wish there were a better variety of side dishes to accompany the fish, like a salad or pasta. But I really enjoyed my fish!"

I brought my very critical Italian
friend (a native of Torino) to Gallo, and he immediately gave it his stamp of approval; not only did he love his calamari and main dish of spaghetti, but he could tell by just one bite that the ingredients were both authentic and fresh. The servers were also very well-versed on both food and wine and delivered a refreshing and much-needed sense of pride to their profession. This restaurant is definitely worth visiting on a regular basis, for both casual and special occasions."

My family went to Gallo on New
Year's Eve for dinner. The restaurant was nicely decorated for the occasion and the service was attentive despite the crowds. The appetizers and the main courses were all excellent. I look forward to trying the pizza next time!"

Given that Gallo Ristorante had
recently opened, and we were booked for New Year's Eve, we were curious to see how the restaurant would do. We went with an open mind but at the same time, expected more from an experienced restaurant owner. It was crowded and very noisy. We waited far too long to have our order taken and same to receive a ginger-ale. As we looked around - there was nothing to absorb the sound. The floors are bare, as are the windows. As the patrons at the table next to us left, and it had to be cleaned, and re-set, nobody saw the dropped food down by the chair and was left. The food lacked flavor of any kind. Had to pour on the salt. Veal was overcooked and rubbery. We will give them another chance in the spring."

This was our first time at Gallo.
We went for New Years Eve dinner and found an almost complete dinner menu at standard dinner prices: Not the abbreviated, over-priced menu one often sees at some restaurants on New Years Eve. The food was great, came hot to the table, and the service was fast and attentive - Despite the restaurant being essentially sold out. Definitely a place we'll be back to."

I visited Ridgefield, CT for
Christmas to be with family and noticed the new restaurant. Being affiliated with the Gallo Family Winery in California, I was interested if there was any relation and I booked a dinner for four at this restaurant. The owner's last name is Gallo (I don't believe a direct relation to the CA wine family). I was skeptical at first due to some of the reviews I had read. But I was pleasantly surprised that the service was great (helpful, patient and attentive), the food was great (my seafood risotto was to die for), calamari appetizer was excellent and the wine list was great! Not inexpensive but to me, it was worth it for a special occasion. I had the best wines by the glass I have ever had at a restaurant!"

We had an overall pleasant
experience on a recent Saturday night. Service was relatively quick, though we had noted upon arrival that we were on a schedule so that may have influenced our server. There seemed to be a lot of wait staff in the room, but they were not functioning as a well-oiled machine. They seemed tense and a little inexperienced. Food was good, though not stellar. I started with a kale, beet and goat cheese salad. The kale had been blanched and was ice cold, but dressed nicely. Far too much of it and not enough beets to warrant a $12 salad. My main course of risotto with pancetta, artichokes and shaved truffle was tasty and nicely cooked. My husband's brisket with polenta and green beans was also a winner."

Excellent menu for diverse group
or family. Fun bar area. Friendly service. This is our new go to restaurant for dinner. We're looking forward to becoming regulars."

Unfortunately, Gallo misses on
many fronts. We had such high expectations given how much was spent in the remodel of what had been a disappointing restaurant with such potential given the location. Gallo just does not know what it wants to be so it seems to be trying to appeal to everyone..too large of a bar, pizza bar, white table clothes and an expensive wine list. All of these things dont mix well under one roof. The food is uninspiring and less time should have been spent on decor to really nail the food. The service was weird as it seems like the approach was not to have a designated waiter/waitress. In a town that now has mutiple options for good food, this one can be skipped."

Enjoyed the food, but the overall
experience was marred by some service kinks and overlooked reservation requests. To handle overflow, Gallo has enclosed an outdoor patio and is heating with hot, blustery kerosene heaters. Not a good idea. Service between courses was slow and irregular; drink orders were forgotten; and the final bill contained items not ordered and needed to be re-done. I'll return, but will first give them some time to smooth out the dining experience."

Good food, good wine and good
friends - if you have them or want them this is the place to go!"

Restaurant still has kinks.
Kitchen is VERY slow. Expensive restaurant. Wine list is too expensive and over priced"
