Franck'sGreat w/ some disappointmentsWent for Mother's Day Brunch @ $55/per person. Fixed menu said "wine available but not included in price" which makes sense. What didn't make sense was charging for coffee and juice ON TOP of the $55 price. Fixed price brunches almost without exception include coffee/juice.
Staff and setting were great. Food was creative and super tasty at every course. Portions were slightly on the light side. It must have been a very profitable meal for the restaurant.
Looked as though they may not be very experienced w/ special day brunches. We had 10:30 seating and was told food would be served at 10:45 but saw nothing until after 11. We made the 10:30 reservation because we had other commitments.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMSalt Lake's BestI have been to Franck's several times. It is consistently outstanding. Excellent food. Outstanding/personal service. The strange sounding soups are always to die for. If they had a soup and salad offering, I would go there every week. The soup is that good.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was just a superb diningIt was just a superb dining experience. The service top notch. The food incredible.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMBrussel Sprouts that Taste Great?I took my wife to Franck's for her birthday & Mother's Day and let me tell you, I'm THE MAN now! I've always hated brussel sprouts so when the waitress recommended them I was pretty dubious about her recommendation to try them. HOLY COW THEY WERE BEYOND AWESOME!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing as alwaysWe come somewhat frequently. Food is always good. Service impeccable. The soup is alway a masterpiece.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMA fantastic Mother's Day place!!!I took my wife here for an early Mother's Day treat, and we loved it!!! My wife said that she wanted to "lick the plate" it was so delicious. We had the meatloaf and fried chicken. The gazpacho was a welcome treat, as I speak Spanish and have beet to Spain and had Gazpacho several times. Yours was unique and fabulous. Thanks one again for a wonder meal. The employees were courteous and polite. Eating here makes me wonder why I go other places!!!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding Food,Impeccable ServiceRepeat customer, first time reviewer. Highest marks for presentation, flavor/texture combinations and tableside service. Absolutely among the best in SLC/PC.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMQuality above All OthersI recommend Franck's for business and romantic dining. The cuisine is beyond excellent and even daring.
The staff are perfect at recommendations and alterations to menus, when requested.
I've been going to Franck's for a few years now, and each time is a fresh experience, as new sauces and soups are introduced.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMA very nice birthday dinnerWe have been to Franck's a number of times. I chose it as the place to celebrate my birthday. My husband and I both love good food and French food is my favorite. We started with the escargot appetizer, which we enjoyed. I had the duck breast, which was perfectly cooked to medium rare. It was lovely. My husband had the coq au vin, one of our favorite dishes. It was very good, perhaps just a bit too salty. Although we don't live close to Franck's, we will be regulars, every few months. I do wish that there were a few more specials and a few more traditional French dishes on the menu. Service was excellent -- very professional.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways outstandingWe go to Franck's at least once a year for special occasions. The food is always exceptional, and the service nearly perfect. One of our favorite places in town. Thank you for creating such a wonderful gem!4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWe are devoteesWe've been going to Franck's for years, and recommend it to anyone who truly loves fine dining. Pre fixe menus are always a treat for the senses. The atmosphere is pleasant, calm, and inviting. It's perfect for couples, and for showing out of town guests a great time in Utah. Now that Franck's is open for Brunch on Sunday, we look forward to enjoying more of the chef's beautifully conceived, elegantly presented dishes. Last Sunday we delighted in a scrumptious Eggs Benedict with trout, and a savory duck crepe. Highly recommended!4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMFranck's is always outstandingFranck's is always outstanding - maybe because he's always in the kitchen and he has an outstanding staff.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMI have always loved this restaurantI have always loved this restaurant. They think outside of the box yet the food is not so strange that you don't want to eat it. The ambiance is great and it just feels special. The price is on the high end but for a special occasion it is worth it. I would definitely recommend it.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is our go to spot forThis is our go to spot for special occasions and it never disappoints!!!4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMVery nice, upscale French-AmericanVery nice, upscale French-American fusion. Suggest dining on a Monday or Tuesday for their tasting menu. Every menu item has been a delight for the taste buds, with unexpected flavor combinations (e.g., creamsicle pumpkin soup or pot roast with a rootbeer float sauce). I have been pleased with every dish I have sampled. The wait staff is attentive.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMFranck creates fascinatingFranck creates fascinating flavors and satisfying dishes. Eating there is like walking through a garden with many different vistas. You will find yourself surprised at his bold combinations, and many times end up wondering why the combination hasn't been tried before. The service is friendly and personal. A wonderful experience.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMUnbelievable and so fun!We had the most exquisite meal for a birthday celebration at Franck's. Started with escargot. We always choose the special soups and the beet/coconut was superb. But the real treat was the sirloin medallions with smoked strawberries, pressed watermelon, pistachios, maple sauce topped with cotton candy. Unbelievable and so fun! My new favorite meal EVER!Franck's just does it right every time.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFranck's is Fantastic!First time to Franck's. I loved the combinations of the dishes. Meatloaf with blueberry sauce; Coconut, beet & sour cream soup. Fantastic! The open kitchen is right by the door so the chef says hello and goodbye as you leave. Great touch! We had a great time.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMRegularHave been going to Francks for a couple years. We consider it our favorite and always look forward to the excellent food and atmosphere.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was one of the best mealsThis was one of the best meals we have had in a very long time. My husband and I eat out often, and this was exceptional! The escargot appetizer's sauce was unbelievable and the candied carrot on the side was so good we had to ask Brian our server. Brian was so passionate about his job and so fun. All people from the hostess to the water person were so happy, we figured it must be an amazing place to work. My fish and my husband's sirloin were both to die for. Prices were reasonable for the caliber of food you received. I only wish we lived in SLC so we could go more often. This chef is top rate and I would only expect food like this in NYC or Paris.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMBest I've had in UtahUnlikely flavor combinations, some of the best food I've ever eaten. The Porcini and the meatloaf are truly second to none.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely exquisite. GenerousAbsolutely exquisite. Generous portions from a truly unique menu without pretentiousness; innovative and satisfying, no frightening exotica or macabre experiments - real food for the discriminating palate with a vibrant sense of panache.
Only possible improvement: Dessert. Slight, and a bit pricey; however, I'd have gladly paid a bit more for a greater selection, larger portion and level of satisfaction. Lemon Creme brulee was very nice. Please take into account my family are originally from Palermo, Sicily and were highly influenced by old Arabic traditions with very rich, sugary - often ostentatious offerings such as Marzipan Sculpture, Briosche, and many other overwrought confections.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWe brought our Daughter'sWe brought our Daughter's in-laws from Wisconsin to Francks. They have heard us all talk about how we loved the food. Francks did not let us down. The food was as always outstanding, service just great. We were there quite a while, 3 hours and we never felt rushed. Thanks you for living up to all of our hype. Thanks to Felicity and Michael: both former students of ours. :)4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMI've been a fan of FrancksI've been a fan of Francks from its onset. I love the intimacy of the ambiance as well as the decor. We're looking forward to dining on your patio this summer. Is that a possibility or is it just for cocktails? At any rate, we will return.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMMy father-in-law is a bitMy father-in-law is a bit of a food snob, and I'm always a little nervous to take him out to dinner. However, he was really impressed by the food at Franck's! After tasting the brussel sprout appetizer, he ordered a second one immediately. He raved about the cherry soup, the wagyu beef, and the blueberry/grape ice cream. He told me he has already told a few other people about it. In addition to the amazing food, the service is really great. We brought our two toddlers with us, and our waitress was very accommodating. She even brought out special small silverware and put a lit candle in our dessert because my three year-old was under the (incorrect) impression that it was her birthday. We will definitely be back!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMMy spouse and 2 teenage daughtersMy spouse and 2 teenage daughters dined at Franck's during our ski trip to Salt Lake City. The experience at Frank's will be unforgettable for all of us. Each of us thought it was exceptional! The wait staff was very attentive, enthusiastic and very helpful in describing the various menu items - our waiter's recommendations were spot on as well. Appetizers were very good - we shared the fondue, escargot and the crispy brussel sprouts (HIGHLY recommend them but they were a special the night we dined). We each ordered different entrees, ran the gamut - coq au vin, hawaiian wahu, southern fried chicken and duck. Everyone was thrilled. FYI - The salad w/ dinner was INSANELY GOOD!3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMCheese Fondu ROCK'sWas a special treat. Tuscany is one of our favorites and Francks is owned by the same people. The Cheese Fondu was amazing.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThe service was spectacularThe service was spectacular and every bit of food was unique and interesting. We will definitely be back. Love the feel of the place.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding sirloin, outstandingOutstanding sirloin, outstanding coq au vin, outstanding wabu fish. Complimentary soup or salad, and excellent desserts offered by a very friendly chef. The wine list was amazing and affordable. Excellent service. And all of this for a reasonable price.
We loved the "live video" from the kitchen.
A great experience, really comparable to a high end New York City starred restaurant3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMVery professional and friendlyVery professional and friendly staff. Not only did the manager check to make sure our dining experience was pleasant but the chef himself came out to make sure our food was perfect. Truely a delightful place through and through.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place while up at Snowbird! We found Franck's on Google Maps while looking for good restaurants close to Snowbird for dinner while skiing during Spring Break. Google did not steer us wrong and we are glad to have come across it. Only 15 minutes away from Snowbird, Franck's was a great, and better value, alternative to dining every night at the resort. It will be on our lists of places to visit whenever we are in the area.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWe chose Franck's to celebrateWe chose Franck's to celebrate our Anniversary. It is a great spot. The food is amazing. It's rustic but at the same time is creative and fun. The meatloaf is fantastic, but this time I went for the smoked salmon and diver scallop. It was so good.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent meal; charming ambianceFinally tried Franck's and wasn't disappointed. Server missed a few points for messing up on gluten-free requests, but problems were quickly remedied. She made spectacular recommendations- glad we took them! Otherwise I never would have tried the brussel sprout appetizer, which was FANTASTIC. I'm craving it again as I write this review. The sous vide steak and escarol entrees were also superb. Homemade ice cream for dessert was just passable, but otherwise we were thrilled with a romantic, expertly executed, delectable fine dining experience.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love going to Franck'sWe love going to Franck's , it always nice to see what's on the menu. And the people there are always making you feel good!! It's very personable place.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a great experienceWe had a great experience our food and service were both fabulous ...... We can't wait to go back to Francks !3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe always enjoy Franck's theWe always enjoy Franck's the food is always great and we had a super waitress.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AM...elevated comfort food...It was awesome.
The food was delicious and the service was excellent. It's elevated comfort food. The atmosphere was ok, but I will go back for the food. There aren't many places in Utah where you get this kind of flavor and quality.
For two people sharing an appetizer and individual entrees and desserts the pre-tip bill was 90 dollars. And make sure you budget for a generous tip and a bit for the valet guy. They will deserve it.
Its worth the money if you love great food or if you want to treat a person who does. They deserve their place at the top of the diners choice lists.
-JP3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThe team did a great job toThe team did a great job to make the evening nice for us. They accommodated our special requests from OpenTable when I made the reservation. The food was presented very well and tasted even better. I would recommend this place to anyone for a dinner for two at $100 (appetizer, 2 entrees, dessert for two).3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMOur Favorite RestauantMy wife and I love to dine at Franck's Franck's is definitely a hidden gem in the area. It's a restaurant clearly run by not only a chef who loves what he does but an entire staff who absolutely love the idea that food is more than just a meal. I have never ordered anything I didn't like on the menu. Chef Franck is a MASTER at making soup. I cannot stress enough that, no matter how unusual the name of the soup may be, you should order the soup any and every time you are there as part of your entre. And this is coming from a person who generally doens't like soup much at all. If you've never been to Franck's you MUST go.2/22/2013 12:00:00 AMNice place for a nice eveningI really liked the relaxed but romantic feel of this place. Like most places in Utah, there were people in ties and people in Birkenstocks... But in general, it had a romantic and elegant feel. The dining room is small, but comfortable - it kept it quiet. Our server was great and helpful in making our dinner choices.
I had the duck - it was good, but not the best duck I've had. The flavors were great, but the meat was a just a little tough and chewy. My wife's dinner (don't remember exactly what she got) was great! We had their chocolate cake for dessert and it was fabulous!
It was great, but there are so many good places we want to try in SLC before going back...2/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
