  • Private Party Facilities: We have private rooms available for a minimum of 20 people and a maximum of 86 people. Also, we have party luncheon menus from Monday through Fridays until 3 pm and dinner party menus from Monday through Sundays. Saturdays we only do parties from 12 noon to 5:00 pm.

  • "As a salesperson, I enjoy getting to know a client over a meal. My challenge earlier this week was to find suitable place to entertain in Newark. Thank goodness for Fornos. It's a little old school, but that's part of its charm. The food was better than solid and the wait staff was professional and attentive with just the right amount of warmth. The offer of a complimentary glass of port at the end of the meal was nice touch. For a business meal or a family function, I recommend it."

  • "I really enjoyed the service, food and ambience at Fornos, where I went on Friday for a late lunch with a friend that I don't see often. The red sangria was great, as was our salad, and garlic shrimp appetizer, and my lemom sole in a butter sause (Franchise). The rice wnd chips were more than we could eat and everything was great! Fornos is pricey, so I would only do it for special occassions, but well worth the experience!"

  • "while the service is fantastic, and the rest of my party loved their food (especially the sausage), forno's vegetarian selection is really poor. The vegetarian paella is awful. I've had great veg paella in Barcelona and at various restaurants in NYC. It can be done, the chefs just need to make an effort to learn how to make it better. It also wouldn't hurt to have one or two more vegetarian selections in the starters (not just salad)."

  • "We chose Fornos of Spain for its proximity to Newark Airport and Newark Penn Station because we were meeting someone on their way to NYC. The restaurant was a find! As soon as we were seated, we were served with a basket of rolls and a large salad. When our dinners came, we were also given rice, green beans and chips served family style. Our entree portions were huge and were soooo good! The servers were attentive but did not rush us. This was our first time at Fornos and we were a little apprehensive about the $$$ in the review. It is a little pricey but the quality and quantity of the food is worth it! We only wish the restaurant was closer to home as we travelled an hour to get there."

  • "Fornos is a different dining experience, typically used for a special occasion, date, or prior to attending an event in the immediate area. I would say that the parking, although valet can become a problem [wait times for getting your vehicle] but a nice place for a special evening and dining experience."

  • "This is the 3rd/4th time I've been to Fornos sometimes for lunch and sometimes for dinner. This particular visit was for dinner. I would say, compared to previous meals, this was a competent presentation, but not as outstanding as previous occasions. There was a special avocado appetizer that was delicious. The grilled chorizo was good, but I probably wouldn't choose again. The paella was similarly good, but not as good as I have had elsewhere. They have a Portuguese version that is better than this Spanish version. The wine list is comprehensive, although a bit challenging in terms of the categorization of the wines, so if you can't find what you want, you need to ask. Portuguese or Spanish improves the ordering experience."

  • "Moved out of state a few years ago so this was first time back to Forno's in at least 5 years. Was always one of my favorite restaurants and was excited to get back. Rarely does a restaurant stay great for that long of time...It was better than ever. Friend and I ordered multiple appetizers and they were all fantastic. The shrimp in garlic was tremendous, the clams in marinara sauce were excellent as well as the salad prior to the appetizers. My veal in wine sauce was excellent as was my friends lobster dish. Service was fantastic as Santoro and David made the evening even better...Can't wait to get back!"

  • "I haven't been to Fornos in a number of years. It was a little more pricey than I remember but the portions were still the same: gigantic! The service was a little slow but they had an excellent attention to detail to every aspect of the fine dining experience. I probably ate on more plates in this one experience than I have in my last 5 dining experiences. Everything had to be cleaned between courses. The menu had a lot more options than I remember but they probably have to compete with the restaurants in the area who I know have many options as well. This place is great for a special occasion or a business meeting."

  • "Apps were 5 star. Chorizo, garlic shrimp and pulpo off the charts 7 out of 8 dinners were excellent. Only bad dish was the ny strip. Very chewy and tough. We didnt eat it and they tool it off the bill Great sangria too and have their own parking lot. Def going back"

  • "First I got a great parking space across the street, then was taken to a wonderful table. I had to make a show at NJPAC and was running late so had to ask for expedient service which the maitre d made sure occurred. The martini's were made perfectly in a very unique glass and the the meal was wonderful. The tuna was cooked perfectly as were the crab stuffed scallops. The salad, broccoli and green beans were fresh, crunchy and NOT smothered in balsamic vinaigrette or butter which is what I prefer. Portions were large which some folks like and some don't but you don't have to eat it all:) It was an overall very good experience. I will go back again!"

  • "This wasn't the usual rushed meal that I had become accustomed to at Forno's. Service was attentive but not rushed. While bread and salad were placed on the table before we were even comfortably seated, the remainder of the meal was paced very well. A special appetizer of Avocado & crabmeat was delicious & the chorizo was some of the best I've had. Among the 6 diners we had several different shellfish & fish entrees. All were ample portions and served hot and seasoned well. The only complaint was that when the waiter was asked to describe the Stuffed Shrimp entree he neglected to mention it shrimp & crabmeat would be smothered in a cheese sauce. With the rice, potatoes and vegetables we were all too full to try any of the desserts offered."

  • "Loved the atmosphere, very lively, but fun. Service overall seemed to be a problem, plenty of help wandering around but took forever for everything. Drink orders, menus, food and getting anyones attention at all. Appetizers were ordered and our meals, but even after 3 requests, my sons soup was bought along with our dinners and then he didn't get his dinner till he finished his soup. A big pet peeve of mine is when you order a $35.00 dinner and then to charge you for a second glass of iced tea, in a glass that is filled with ice and 3 sips later its empty to me is ridiculous. How much does that cost 3cents. Still loved the place, we had a fun time and I would go back again, Food was good, large portions but nothing over the top."

  • "Had dined there before and was extremely pleased. This last occasion, however, did not live up to expectation. Extremely slow and forgetful service, multiple servers who did not communicate with one another. Appetizer came out together with entrée, those apps that actually made it to table, one ran out of shrimp, another was refused. Food was plentiful, and for the most part very good, two servings however, came out cold. We understand that there was a nearby hockey game that evening (which we wound up late for), but the place was not as crowded as I have seen it before when service was spot on. Am a bit guarded about returning, in particular on a hockey night."

Was shocked at the prices. Potatoes weren't as good as they used to be (consensus of the table). Still it's a keeper. And still draws a crowd--even on a weekday night!"

The food was great and portions were adbundant. My only complaint was that even with a reservation we had to wait 45 minutes for our table."

Having worked in Newark for almost 20 years, I've been to most of the restaurants in Newark, both in and out of the Ironbound section, and I can say unequivocally that Fornos is my favorite. The food is consistently top notch. I've been there many times and have never been disappointed. In fact, I no longer work in Newark and live about 45 minutes away and still go to Fornos. On our last trip they made my father's birthday very special. Every bite is like a concert in your mouth, from the delicious complimentary salad that greets you soon after you sit down, to the mouth watering appetizers, entrees and desserts. The service is impeccable and the ambience just perfect. GO NOW!"

  • "We have been to this restaurant many times and the Spanish cuisine at Fornos can always be counted on to be plentiful and good. We were a party of 9 and Fornos graciously accommodated my Open Table request for a large round table. Our dinner started very successfully with drinks (excellent Sangria!)and the complimentary bread and salad, but then the wait staff became scarce and it took quite a while for the waiter to come back to get our dinner orders. For whatever reason, it took almost another hour for our dinners to be delivered....very unusual since service is usually very quick and efficient at Fornos. Despite the slow dinner service, we enjoyed our food very much and will most probably go back again."
