A word from Florio
Florio offers a variety of bistro classics; a "greatest hits" of rustic cafe food- including Steak Frites and pan-roasted air-chilled Chicken.
We feature a market-to-table local fish offering daily (as available).
Simple dishes such as pan roasted King Salmon and house-made Squid Ink Tagliolini round out the comforting menu.
Veal, Pork & Ricotta meatballs are a Sunday favorite with our regulars!
Florio even makes its own gelato and sorbetto en casa!
The menu changes daily to make the most of local, seasonal, organic meat, fish, and produce.
A small but savvy wine list of exceptional Napa producers, Italian specialties, and French vintners competes at the amiable bar with an admirable selection of pastis, select eau de vie and traditional spirits from around the world.

  • "Never had a bad bite in 8 years. Staff is right there when they can help out. Great spot that we will come back to again and again."

  • "This little neighborhood gem is a keeper. The gem salad was fabulous . The wine list is well priced and varied and the lemon panna cotta is a little slice of heaven. The server was well versed and friendly . Try the ravioli as it was a real treat!"

  • "I have been wanting to dine at Florio since it opened its doors many years ago. Last week I finally made it there for dinner with a friend. It was her first time at Florio as well and we both enjoyed out wine and dinner. We will both definitely go there again."

  • "Duck confit, Roasted Chicken. Pommes Frires, a perfect Hamburger, Country Pate and more goodies...Although our server had the personality of Iceberg Lettuce, we weren't there to socialize with him. The place was jammed and the food delicious."

  • "Good food, great charming service, terrific ambiance, lively bar, good mix of people, but extremely noisy."

  • "We have eaten at Florio a number of times, and have never been disappointed. The food is consistently excellent, the service is great and the overall ambience & atmosphere are welcoming. It is also a very versatile spot, in that we've been there with our kids, with friends, and just my wife and I have had a quiet meal there. The hanger steak frites is a signature dish - highly recommended! - and Florio's constantly changing specials always offer something appealing. Can't say enough about it - two thumbs way up!"

  • "We really enjoy going to Florio's. It is one of our favorite Pacific Heights neighborhood restaurants and a good bar as well. It has a cozy, warm bistro atmosphere. There is something for everyone on the menu. Some of our favorites are the roast almonds, the soup of the day(always delicious!), the Mary's roast chicken with french fries, the meatballs and spaghetti on Sundays, and the fish of the day. It always taste fresh and well prepared. But what we enjoy the most are the people who work there - they are friendly, warm and responsive. It feels like family whenever we go there...just what a neighborhood gem should feel like! Now if the prices were just a little lower, we'd be there even more frequently!"

  • "A bit expensive for the type of restaurant that it is. Two salads, two entrees, wine carafe, one dessert, tip, over $150. Not sure best value. "

  • "I've had good meals in the past, but this was not a great experience. The wine prices seem high for what they're offering. Salad clearly needed salt. My main (seafood stew) was pretty good... At my table, we had some fine food and some not so great food including the super overcooked halibut. At this price point, it should be better than just meh ($100 / person all in)."

  • "I have been there many times. On Saturday night I had a party of 5 with me and we got a special room I didn't know existed. The group loved that and we all enjoyed our entrees, etc. I hadn't even really thought about the food as being that special but that evening the burgers, salmon and bouillabaisse were all excellent. Top hit with friends."

  • "This is a little gem on Fillmore, just a short walk from San Francisco's Japantown Center. Housed in a wonderful Victorian and looking like a warm a cheery pub, you're not surprised upon entering that it's pretty much that. Having made a reservation previously, even arriving a few minutes late (7pm) on a Friday night, there was no waiting. There were one or two parties waiting for a table, for the place was quite busy. The food was wonderful, my friend and I both had the salmon, the camembert salad, and gelato (with fennel) for dessert. And the pommes frites were killer. The meal was moderately priced and well worth it. The service was excellent, I could not have been more pleased. A bit crowded and noisy, as expected for a Friday night."

  • "Florio's is warm and welcoming. Our group of five was lucky enough to have the small room curtained off from the main dining room so that we could have an easy conversation while eating delicious dishes. The food was well prepared and presented -- a poached egg on asparagus was perfectly cooked, while the roasted asparagus was smoky (in an utterly delicious way) with warm prosciutto underneath it. Our waitress was especially helpful, observant, and accommodating. Our experience at Florio's was outstanding."

  • "We always make a point to visit Florio during the Film Festival. They are extremely accommodating for one using a wheelchair. The pasta is amazingly fresh. The seafood stew is wonderful and usually provides me with a meal the next day. Beautiful decor and extremely capable wait staff."

  • "We had another wonderful dinner at Florio on Friday night. They do everything right. The food and the service always tops expectations, and we found ourselves asking, "Why don't we come here more often?""

  • "Good location for a dinner before Yoshi's. However, the food was either bland or too acidic. Obviously the chef is following the trend of trying something different, current and eclectic. We noted that most diners were trying to find something on the menu that wasn't there. This place needs an identity. What kind of food are they serving? We will not be back."

  • "This is to Pac Heights what Mortimer's was and Swifty's now is to the Upper East Side. You will see a great cross section of the neighborhood in all age categories. Food is solid and frankly better than Mortimer's was in its heyday. The bar scene is vibrant the place glass a great buzz with nothing tacky."

  • "Once again Florio in lower pac heights has proven above and beyhond of why this place is one of my favorites to date of me being a foodie for almost a decade..From the greeting as myself and my guest walk in and being seated, served and so well taken care every time on top of such a great and seasonal menu that is always changing from the produce, meats and amazing new plates to chose from are a reason of why I keep coming back and the others do as well..It is def SF gem not just a neighborhood gem.."

  • "It was a delightful evening for my partner's birthday. The host was perfect: accommodating, pleasant, and made us feel like welcome guests. While all of the food that we got was delicious, my halibut was absolutely stunning. It was perhaps the most perfectly piece of fish I've had this side of Portugal. Definitely a great choice for a casual but special occasion."

  • "I have eaten at Florio twice in the past month and was compelled to write this review. The overall experience was excellent. Great waitstaff, promptly seated at the time of our reservation, food was excellent. I had the seafood stew and my friend had the cheese burger. Both wonderful. I could not have enjoyed the stew more. They also have a Merry Edwards sav blanc on their wine list that is superb. I highly recommend Floria and plan to go there often. Enjoy! Jim"

  • "Sunday night is a great night to go to Florio. It has a warm and cozy feel that is perfect for an early supper. We tried the special appetizer, a delicious scallop cooked in bacon fat and topped with bacon and a micro salad. It was excellent. For an entrée we shared the chicken for two and it too was excellent. It was served with roasted carrots and brussel sprout leaves and even the brussel sprouts were good. Excellent wines (like Talbott Chardonnay) are available both by the bottle and the half bottle."

  • "The Fillmore/Pac. Heights: Now, it seems there are more than ever. Spouse flew in from Las Vegas for 24 hours this weekend, and I wanted her to enjoy her special dinner. I resevered at Spruce on Sacramento weeks ago, only to learn that they had a mandatory $140.00/pp price fix with an $85.00 wine pairing. That's about $500.00 and, if I'm doin that it's gonna be at French Laundry or Gary Danko, which brings me to this...FLORIO, WOW! Our bartender was slammed but you wouldn't be able to tell if you didn't have a little industry background. He was most attentive, & offered my spouse tastes of some of he wine offerings. We could tell the other guests were experiencing the same. The Mary's Chicken, & Brocollini were done to perfection!"

  • "We went to Florio for Valentine's Day and loved their fixed menu. The food was superb and our waiter (as well as all the other staff) were incredibly polite and friendly. The only problem was that our entrees seemed to get lost, and we had to wait a bit longer than everyone else."

  • "I was very excited to try this place. I live near by and had people coming into town so I thought - Perfect! I made a reservation for Saturday at 8:30p. We were on Fillmore already but it was raining so I tried calling to move up our reservation. After no answer we decided to try our luck and just go around 8PM to see if by chance a table was available. The Host immediately cut me off. He was so rude in front of other patrons and my guests. He acted as if I was putting him out by being there. It wasn't until he saw my last name and asked if I was part of a local affluent family that his tone changed. Really? You should be nice to everyone regardless of their last name. Food was good although it was hard to enjoy anything after that."

  • "I have been to this numerous times over the years, always having a great food experience. This time, we arrived at opening, so first ones seated. Ordered burrata with prosciutto. the prosciutto was so thick you could not chew it. After being served the salad, we waited at least 30 minutes for entrée, at which point we advised our waiter that we had a movie deadline. Thefilet of sole in lemon, butter sauce, was not floured, so it was dry, extremely lemony, and no sauce, just lemon juice. That said, we were also 10 minutes late for the movie. I though 90 minutes at the beginning of service would have been more than sufficient. I was very disappointed."

  • "While the food is very good ( tasty, fresh, well presented, regular items and specials ), the service here makes all the difference and why I go here again and again. The host, the bartender, the waiters are all seasoned professionals, friendly and genuine, attentive but not inserting themselves into your experience. I've lived in SF over 20 years and while there is no shortage of good food, there is a chronic shortage of good service. Florio delivers every time."

  • "We've been going to Florio for years. You can ALWAYS count on a lovely meal, similar to some of our favorite places in France and Italy - but unlike in Europe - at Florio - all the staff are so friendly, efficient and overall terrific - they are sure to put you in a great mood. The room is generous but cozy with open kitchen. I can choose from a generous plate of pasta or their wonderful roast chicken, with well priced wines at a leisurely dinner with my husband - or a delightful composed endive salad paired with a shrimp appetizer with an ice cold Bombay Sapphire straight up with a twist with a friend at a post-work catch up. They always not only accommodate - but anticipate - with a big smile. We always leave smiling ourselves."
