Diner Reviews
  • "Because of some not so hot reviews, we almost skipped this spot. SOOOOOO glad we didn't. The food was great and the service was great as well, the pouring rain afterwards meant CAB RIDE!!! The only negative was the air conditioning wasn't working, if there even was air conditioning."

  • "The fish selection at the Fleet was great. I had the special blackened grouper, which was incredibly fresh, served with collard greens and rice. The greens were wonderful...the rice was so-so. My husband loved his fried flounder sandwich and the crab cake we shared was absolutely wonderful and filled with crab! We will definitely return when we want good seafood at a reasonable price (we went at lunch) with a great view of the water."

  • "When in charleston, there are so many amazing reaturants to choose from, choose a different one. Food is mediocre, but not over priced. Service was great, hostess seemed a little annoyed. Nothing special here folks. The tartar sauce was interesting, very good, but I thought it was more of a remoulade sauce."

  • "Very glad we made reservations because this restaurant was at full capacity and with a long wait line out the door. We were seated promptly and with views of the harbor. Our server was attentive. Drinks were great. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Lovely evening."

  • "On my most recent trip to Charleston four of us ate at Fleet Landing and we will certainly visit again!!! You should definitely make reservations, a must!! The whole scored flounder was terrific...a little more apricot sauce needed, and the other dishes, scallops and trigger fish were clean plates!!! Biscuits that were brought to the table with honey butter were perfect as we awaited our entrees. Awesome venue on the water! A sure gem in Charleston. The ONLY negative...the parking!!! But that's okay!!!"

  • "A great find on our first trip to Charleston. The best seafood pasta I ever ate."

  • "This was our second time at Fleet Landing and we were not disapointed! Great food, great view, great service, and very attentive staff makes for a very pleasurable time."

  • "I took a customer to dinner there and we both ordered the special "grouper". The waiter came back after awhile and told us they only had 1 left so I ordered the swordfish instead. The swordfish was OK, a bit dry. We both also ordered side salads (were told these were not a part of one of 2 sides) and the salads came late, after our main course arrived. This was my first time going there is some time, was not impressed with the food or service."

  • " It was OK, nothing over the top. the waitress took her time to recommend the catch of the day she came back to tell us they ran out. OK, so now what."

  • "We were seated on the outdoor patio which, at first, was a problem since the sun was in our eyes. But, we enjoyed watching all of the boats in the harbor. I had the fried flounder and shrimp which was delicious. Our friend had the whole flounder and he found it to be overcooked. The manager came over and apologized and only charged him half of the price. Service was great!"

  • "We keep coming back to Fleet Landing for the great food and service but our last two visits we had errors in our order with side items missing, a minor annoyance. My only real complaint is the AC is either still broken or they choose to not use it and leave the doors wide open on a humid, 85 degree day. Not a comfortable way to dine inside! Hopefully they'll get the air fixed soon!"

  • "This restaurant was recommended to us by a friend and it was wonderful. Great view of the river and harbor and the staff was phenomenal. True Southern Hospitality. A reservation is definitely a must and Open Table made it very simple! I highly recommend Fleet!"

  • "Fine mid level seafood restaurant. Perfectly OK, food good, nothing exceptional."

  • "From the moment we started our meal the waiter gave us his full attention even though he was very busy. The meal was tasty and hot, we had the Hush Puppies and Crab cakes, blooming delicious. The outlook from our table was definitely one of the best we have experienced. Nice breeze from the Cooper river."

  • "Friends recommended Fleet Landing. On our visit the air conditioning had just been repaired so the restaurant was pretty warm making it a little uncomfortable. Would recommend it for families with small children. Food was okay but nothing special."

  • "Tucked in just beyond the end of the Battery and historic Charleston. This place always makes a great ending to a day in the city. Food is very good. Recommend reservations. We would go back, in fact we did."

  • "I gambled on The Fleet Landing as a restaurant to which to take my mother for her 79th birthday, knowing that she loves great seafood (and resents eating where the food is poorly prepared and/or poorly served.) Kinda tough to satisfy her, to be honest. However, she was pleased with the menu and even the outdoor seats which provided a pleasant and relaxed view of the scenic Charleston Harbor (right next to Waterfront Park.) Our waitress (Miranda) was another pleasant surprise: Energetic, observant, friendly, courteous and genuine in her desire to provide good service without the pretentiousness one finds in wait-staff at other fine restaurants on the Peninsula. Delicious seafood (scallops, flounder, shrimp = excellent!) Even B-day cake!"

  • "We loved the food and the atmosphere. They were very busy which is always a great sign. So glad we received that recommendation. You should make reservations if possible!"

  • "The restaurant was kind enough to call and confirm our reservation. They also informed us of their air conditioner not working and that it would be fixed by Monday. I asked for patio seating. We arrived at the restaurant and we were seated outside. The temp was comfortable. Our waiter was awesome... Very friendly and knowledgable. The food was amazing. My husband mentioned it was our anniversary and the waiter served us a complimentary pecan pie with ice cream which was thoughtful. We inhaled it! It was so good! It was a great experience overall."

  • "A group of 5 went for a birthday lunch. We got there and found out the air conditioner was out. Really? It would have been great if they would have tried to make it up with slightly larger servings, but nothing."

  • "Atmosphere was amazing and the food was very good. Server was knowledgeable and helpful.. Will definitely go back when I'm in town."

  • "On the evening we dined at Fleet Landing (6/21) , the AC was not working. We appreciated the sign on the door notifying us before we entered. We sat outside where the temperature at 7:30 PM was very pleasant. Our server was efficient and courteous. My daughter ordered mahi and I had the flounder and shrimp. Both were delicious! The key lime pie was wonderful, also. We would definitely return. After dinner, we walked to the nearby Pineapple Fountain. Parking was a bit difficult- as it is in most of Charleston!"

  • "This is not a restaurant that will knock your socks off with inventive new dishes. What it does though, is give you the basics done right. If you enjoy your seafood fried then you are in luck here! Admittedly, I am usually put off by fried seafood, but I found the fish and chips to be tasty and not too greasy. Same was said about the fried flounder by my dining companion. The atmosphere is crowded and not relaxing. Not the kind of place you linger at after your meal is finished. One plus was the misting fans outside that kept us comfortable on what was a very hot evening. I won't rush back to Fleet Landing next trip but I wouldn't say never again either."

  • "This is my second time at Fleet. We took out of town guests and all enjoyed the food & the view. We sampled oyster app, triggerfish entrée, seafood pasta, fish & chip, grilled shrimp. All were delish...the fish & chips were not the best ever. Great value for the money. Good for families...will not break the bank."

  • "We went to Fleet Landing on the recommendation of a friend. The food was fantastic! Tuna and mahi mahi cooked to perfection, wonderful sauces on both. The grits were perhaps the best I've ever had; I'm sure they were terrible for me, but delicious! Try the fried green tomato with crab stack. Yum! Service was attentive but not obnoxious. Atmosphere was fun--great place for kids and/or casual family/friend dinners. Will definitely recommend this restaurant to others."

  • "Had a reservation for 6:30. Arrived a few minutes before. Was told they were clearing a table. Not a problem. 15 minutes go by and we've watched 3 tables without reservations be seated in front of us. Finally get a table and there were FIVE empty tables in our area. Not sure what the deal was but at least the food and food service was great."

  • "I have always enjoyed Fleet Landing, and I often choose it when I have out-of-town guests. Overall everything is fine, but some of the basics, like fries or a well-prepared "gourmet" burger, are a bit lacking in flavor and quality. The gnocchi, which sounded wonderful, was also just very plain. I try to choose different options when I go to Fleet Landing, as does my husband, but we won't recommend the burger or gnocchi to others. The shrimp & grits (for meat eaters, since it has a lot of sausage as well as shrimp) is still a hit, and I was pleased to see that grilled salmon could be substituted for the grilled chicken on the Charleston salad."

  • "Good choice for on the water and service. Cocktails were excellent. Great tables at water's edge. Service was very good. Food was good, but for same price you can get gormet meals at Poogan's Porch and similar. But that is OK, you have to pay for their extra costs of providing waterside dining"

  • "Were there for Father's Day - took 86 year Pop. He enjoyed it tremendously - outdorrs family and that's what we did - sat on the side facing the bridge and it was GREAT! Could not of asked for a better spot. We tried the stuffed hushpuppies and they(two) were GREAT, though a little pricey for two. Had seafood platter's - good food, except for the fries - WHAT HAPPENED? The fries need to be upgrated, not appealing - to thin, to cooked - for the price - need steak fries! Lobster quiche - needed more lobster. Though all and all - really nice."

  • "We recently ate here for our anniversary dinner. The food was fantastic. The casual atmosphere was very relaxing. Sitting outside provides an excellent view of the water. Our waiter was excellent providing suggestions that were spot on and remaining attentive to our needs without being overbearing. Overall a great experience."

  • "We ate here based on recommendation of others, persons known to us, who raved about Fleet Landing. Unfortunately we didn't "get it." True, the view of the harbor and the ambiance was extremely pleasant, the servers were friendly, and service was speedy enough considering the number of diners. The food, which is the main focus of dining out, was mediocre. My crispy flounder with sauce was over cooked, hard and dry so I ate only a small portion (for which we were not charged after I brought it to their attention.) When I asked my husband what he could say about his food-his answer, "Not much- the collards were good but the seafood was just mediocre." We could recommend for the view and a cocktail. Look elsewhere for good seafood."
