  • "A tough reservation to get on a weekend, but well worth the wait. Walk-ins should not shy away for a late lunch - there were seats open during our meal. The Oysters were fantastic and fresh. The fish tacos and fish and chips were amazing. The key lime pie at the end was perfect. The service was awesome - we were given recommendations and suggestions on what would be enough for our group. I will be going back and would recommend to anyone that likes great seafood. Overall a great time."

FWD did not disappoint and as always, his play on the modern and old school style menu selections gives FWD a twist of the best of both worlds. Will definitely keep returning here since we feel that it is the best seafood restaurant in the Southbay. Easy commute."

  • "Finally got a res here for my Bday. Fun lively place. Got oyster sample to start. Server very helpful as we were newbies. Shared crab cake, diver scallops ,and lobster pot pie all were spot on. My only tiny issue was our bowl (not cup) of clam chowder only had 5 clams in it and mostly potatoes. Flavor was good though."

  • "It was our first time here & we loved it. I booked a reservation almost 3 weeks in advance (due to their limited capacity) but it was worth it. The drinks were delicious, the service was friendly & attentive, & the food was excellent! We started with the oyster sampler which had a lovely presentation, was very tasty, & had several sauces. We also ordered the crab cakes which was full of lump crabmeat. Later we enjoyed the kale salad and French Fries which were crunchy & perfectly seasoned. Everything was wonderful, but the highlight was the $45 sampler from the raw bar which included raw oysters & clams, but also steamed lobster, prawns, & mussels. It was a splurge, but the quality spoke for itself. We recommend FWD & can't wait to return."

  • "I wouldn't call this a hidden gem because EVERYBODY is hearing about this place so it is hard to get in. The menu is fun & fresh and the food is all amazing so it's worth a visit. The challenge is that this place is TINY (we had a party of 5 and were squeezed into a 4-top) so it's not ideal for groups and you should definitely plan to make reservations. So, grab a friend or two and head over for a delicious meal!"

  • "Best oyster experience ever! The selection was very well curated. Get a full dozen for the whole experience, creamy, briny, milky and fresh as the sea. The other dishes were standout too! The octopus was perfectly smoky and so tender. The scallops were luxurious, made more so by the slice of uni that accompanied them. I'm not a fan of cod because it can be oily, but the eggplant soaked up all its oiliness perfectly. The staff were so accommodating. We were a party of 3 instead of the 4 we had booked for. They still seated us in a lovely corner by the window. My friends are not from Manhattan Beach so to be able to put our best foot forward on a day as perfect as the one we had, was fantastic! Thank you FWD, will most definitely be back!"

  • "My husband and I finally got a chance to come to FWD and it did not disappoint! We had the Queen Mary's which was excellent. It was fresh and delicious, and a deceptively large amount of food. We also had the clam chowder which we both enjoyed, and for dessert, we had the bread pudding (a must-have treat!). It is a small place and a bit loud, but we will definitely be coming back. Book your reservation early, though. Getting a table will be tough, but so worth it!"

Make reservations well in advance and even then, be prepared to wait.The restaurant only has 3 tables that seat 4, the rest of the restaurant is two tops. Just something to keep in mind as we had a reservation this past weekend and waited almost 45 minutes for our table despite having a reservation. The hostess was wonderful as it was out of her hands - but just know, other diners won't always be the most considerate! Amazing oyster menu - and try to scallop ceviche!"

A big shout-out to the one who shucked those oysters as they were pristine. Clam Chowder captured the essence of the clams.   • "I was looking forward to trying FWD based on great reviews. Food was ok, but not outstanding. The clam chowder was flavorful, but not hot enough. Crab cake was ok, but I did have a halibut frisee salad with soft egg that was really good. I ordered a glass of chardonnay for (what I thought was) $12.50 a glass, but when the bill came I was charged $22.00. When I asked the server about it, she stated that the 3 ounce flight was $12.50 and the 6 ounce flight was $22.00. I would have appreciated that information before I ordered it. She did take it off the bill, but she didn't seem all that happy about it. Won't be returning."

  • "this is the place for you! We came in and asked that the chef prepare some of his favorites for us and to keep bringing food out until we were full. Everything that was brought out was delicious!!! The service was excellent. At one point, there seemed to be just as many people waiting on us as there were patrons! I just wish the restaurant was bigger so it was easier to get a reservation. I am definitely making another reservation and coming back!"

  • "Was out in California for vacation and tried out this restaurant; I would highly recommend it for lunch. It was in a very scenic area in Manhattan Beach. The restaurant is quaint and vibrant at the same time. The food was very, very good. The menu is a bit limited but it will not stop you from finding quite a few good things to dine on."

  • "After a few hours of whale wathcing it was just to ironic to pass up the 3:30 reservation! Service left a lot to be desired. Although our server was very nice, she forgot several parts of our order even a 2nd time when requested and due to the time we were there, there were several empty tables so i would be very suspicious of what happens during high time. the hamachi was amazing, found the brown beans in several dishes puzzling but overall very good."
