The waiter overheard we were celebratingy son's birthday, and even though we didn't order any dessert, he brought my son at special birthday brownie with a candle! Very sweet! The only reason I gave it 4 stars for service is that even though we had a reservation, we had to wait about 10 mins for our table. For my husband's birthday he had the pick of dessert which we all shared, tasty crème brulee! This was our first time at the Fish Hopper. We were happy to pick a great restaurant for the ocassion. The service and food were excellent. Our waiter Giovanny was very engaging and provided excellent service. It should be noted that the outdoor seating is actually on a covered, partially enclosed veranda. It's great if you're at the railing like we were - nice view of the bay and beach along with fresh air. But if you're sitting away from the railing it might not give you the outdoor feeling. The service was fantastic, the food was delicious and filling, and the view was incredible. My boyfriend and I were entertained by two adorable sea otters having their own dinner in the water down below where we were sitting. =)
The food was a little bit on the "pricier" end, but the prices weren't too outrageous and the the food was definitely worth every penny.

When we visit the Monterey Area this restaurant is a must for me. We visited this time to celebrate the graduation of our daughter and to celebrate our 12 year anniversary. This visit was just as great as every visit we have had at this restaurant. The service was outstanding. The food was great. The specials were just amazing. We had amazing view of the bay, with otters swimming in the water just outside our window giving us some great entertainment. I would recommend this place to all my friends visiting Monterey. We were met with a friendly smile and shown to our table over the water, with views up and down the bay.
The Rubitini cocktail, vodka and pink grapefruit juice, was lovely, and we ordered the Californian Pinot Grigio to follow.
The specials on the menu were explained and my wife chose Mahi, and I went for the Crab, Prawns and Scallops Rissotto.
The portions were good but not over large, and the flavours were fantastic.
So, if you want a great over the sea dining experience, watching the odd seal and sea otter, this is the place.
5 star from start to finish.

Fortunately, you can find some really good dining rooms worth their prices. The Fish Hopper is definitely one of the best. Anything you order will be delicately spiced, with very balanced flavors, and the rest of the menu alone will entice you back for multiple visits. We've been there three times now, and the mouthwatering swordfish, grilled salmon or simple fish and chips are all enough to make you drool.
Quiet enough for a romantic dinner (and we've seen a few obvious first-date couples). Great wine list and mixed drinks too. We were seated right away in a comfortable both overlooking a beautiful view of the ocean. The staff was wonderful, we had the best waitress. She was on point and very tentative for all of our needs.
