  • "This was our first time to Fiola as our usual DC Italian restaurant is Tosco, which we still love just felt time to explore more restaurants. We were all very pleased with Fiola from the moment we walked in and were greeted. Had a great bottle of wine that our server helped pick out. Three of us had pastas - two their Lobster riviola - all fabulous. My boyfriend always has Branzini. He loved it. Honestly, we can not wait to go back. "

The menu can be a little difficult to understand if you are not well versed in Italian cuisine, but the wait staff was able to answer any questions I had. Very personable staff and the manager of the day even stopped by to say hello as it was my birthday. Cannot recommend this place enough."

  • "Service was friendly and attentive. The sommelier was very helpful. The tuna Carpaccio was yummy and perfect to share. The lobster ravioli was phenomenal - one of the best lobster dishes I've ever had and I eat a lot of lobster - and also perfect to share. The rabbit and pasta fruiti de mare were excellent mains. The doughnuts came out freshly fried, smelling so good that the tables around us commented on it - and they tasted as good as they smelled. Excellent meal!!"

  • "My husband and I dined at many good restaurants while visiting Washington DC recently and Fiola was our favorite. We splurged on the tasting menu and it was worth every cent. Each course was sublime with perfectly selected wine pairings. Everyone we dealt with was professional and thoroughly delightful. The room is lovely, stylish though warm, with a lively buzz, but not so loud that you cannot converse with your dining companion. We are accustomed to eating excellent Italian food in New York and Italy, and Fiola compares favorably with the very best. Locals may feel that it is high-priced, but it is a very good value for cuisine of this quality compared to other cities. Fiola was a highlight of a fabulous visit!"

  • "The food at Fiola was fine- not great and nothing to write home about. It is certainly not worth the price here in DC. There are a number of better Italian restaurants in lower price ranges. Within the same price range in DC, there are a ton of restaurants that provide exquisite food that really impresses. Overall, Fiola wasn't bad, but I can't see us going back anytime soon either. I will make a mention that the service was really good and our waitress was the best thing about the visit. "

  • "The Italian Passover Dinner was a real hit with all of us, especially our guest of honor -- a 90-year-old Jewish lady who is confined to a wheel chair. The staff all catered to our friend, gave us a table that was easy to wheel her to and proceeded to serve us all one of the loveliest, most creative meals we've ever had. The six-course meal was well timed and each one was just the right size so we didn't get too full by the end. Our wine steward knew a lot about kosher wines and others, too, so we got a little lesson on grape vines and wine-making through history. Fiola never disappoints. Thank you!"

  • "The meal we enoyed here last Saturday night - our first visit - was probably the best single restaurant meal we've enjoyed in Washington in at least a decade. Ahi tuna carpaccio was wonderful - large chunks of tuna served over roasted tomatoes with yuzu sauce and small tart lemon segments that set off the fattiness of the tuna. Lobster ravioli was also memorable, with a flavorful reduction sauce and large pieces of tender claw meat alongside the ravioli purses. Both cod and branzino were moist and flavorful, each served with shellfish garnishes that complimented the fish. There is a well-curated wine list and those wines available by the glass include nice options. Service was outstanding. I look forward to dining at Fiola again soon."

  • "We ate in 4 different fine dining establishments in D.C. during our visit. Fiola blew away all the others. True, it was the most expensive, but not prohibitively so. The menu was not the same ole Italian dishes, but some very inventive selections. I had a half of the fennel sausage ravioli--Fiola had a fancier name-- and just a simple grilled branzino that was a nice size portion. We split a salad that had a very nice lemon-oil dressing. The sommelier was young and knowledgeable particularly on the vast number of Italian wines available. He actually persuaded me from a more expensive bottle of Super Tuscan. I also had a glass of Barolo for $23 at the end. Very nicely done bar and dining rooms. Not stuffy. Enjoy this one. We will again!"

  • "This was really good food but there seemed to be a battle with the waitstaff over who would be our server. In the end, we got the wrong guy. He would not shut up about the lobster pasta even after we declined several times. He actually acted offended that we did not want to order it and his last comment regarding the dish was simply "I can only suggest. I cannot make you order." And, we did actually order two of his other suggestions. I also thought the steak tartare needed salt and I don't think he liked that I requested some (though I was polite about it)."

  • "This is my favorite Italian restaurant in DC. The food is exceptional. I had burrata to start. The cheese itself was superb, but it comes with anchovies and I didn't realize that (I'm sure the menu mentioned it, but I obviously didn't read closely enough) and they colored the dish a bit. The agnolotti and the chocolate mousse dessert were incomparably good. Service is extremely attentive."

  • "I thought it was going to be a great night when the waitress was so knowledgable about the menu and the chef sent a free salad but that's all the good things I can say about the restaurant. The food was mediocre especially for the price that we paid. If the cost was half then it would be a great restaurant but for $55 for a steak I should be given a choice on how the steak is cooked and it should not be medium well! While my plate had a generous portion that was flavorful although over cooked, my wife's potatoe wrapped cod dish was sparse and left much to be desired."

  • "3 Years ago, I took my now Fiance to Fiola for our very first date. We made it a tradition every year since. This last visit was definitely tops. We did the tasting menu, and opted for the 5 course over the 6 course for no discernible reason. The kitchen must have known it was a special occasion, as they sent out the 6th course compliments. Thank you for making me look good. Each course was expertly timed, and delicately crafted to showcase each item. Our server was very attentive. As our initial cocktails drew close to finish, he asked about moving into wine, and presented the wine menu at a perfect interval between courses. For dessert, he sent a complimentary wine pairing and a scotch for Digestive. Phenomenal experience, as always."

  • "I had lunch here the other day with a friend. The restaurant is very beautiful. Our food was delicious. Even my simple green salad was one of the best salads I have ever had. I ate every Bite of my pasta dish and practically licked the plate. The focaccia they bring to the table While you wait is good- one bite was delicious while the next was a bit salty. Not sure what Happened to our waiter as he disappeared at the end of our meal. He appeared to have many Tables. Finally got our coffees and the check. Luckily, we had the time for a long lunch and the meal Was so yummy we sat happy. However, he disappearance got close to being annoying."

  • "The menu teases with combinations that look wonderful which is why the tasting menu may be the way to go. The fruitte de mare and bordetto, preceded by the multicolor salad were simply amazing. Every bite was delicious. The wine list is extensive and pricey. Well, it's all pricey, but this is not a red tomato sauce and pasta ala Maggianno's experience. For a special occasion, this is a great choice."

In addition, a fantastic selection of Italian wines (even by the glass). Truly, a date, client meeting, any given occasion could be celebrated at Fiola...it is a welcomed addition to the D.C.-area..."

  • "We are experienced diners and have been to Italy more than once, so what an insulting experience it was to be treated like amateurs by the waiter! He felt the need to explain every dish as if we didn't know the difference between spaghetti and pappardelle pasta. He even had the nerve to explain that their Italian Rosé wasn't sweet (as if we only drank White Zinfandel)! The food was good, but our table by the bar was too noisy be heard. That and an insulting waiter means we won't be back any time soon!"

The food and service were outstanding, they did everything possible to make sure it was a special day for him. The food is simply wonderful, inventive but not far out.   • "This was my second time dining at Fiola and the experience exceeded my first visit (which was great.) Our server was attentive, engaging, and discreet. The food was top-notch. We started with oysters and prosciutto wrapped dates, both were outstanding. My wife thought the oysters with their limoncello dressing were the stars of the evening. Our mains were both cooked perfectly, the spaghetti and Spanish branzino. My favorite part of the meal was dessert, the bombolino with espresso gelato. I could have easily eaten three more orders. I can't wait to return."

  • "Fiola is a no-fail, great food, great service, relaxing ambience restaurant for a client dinner, girl's night out or a romantic date. Fiola makes you feel special from the minute you walk in the door and they take your coat to the final moments of your unhurried meal. We had a mix of servers but Arturo was our main man and he has a big smile and knows the menu backward and forward. The plates are as lovely to look at as the food was to eat. During our meal, we saw a couple of groups head to a room in the back that looked like it could handle larger groups privately. Good to know for future office outings, client dinners or birthday celebrations."
