A word from Finch & Fork: Corner Grill Cocktails
Finch & Fork is a Modern American Bar and Grill centrally located on the corner of Carrillo and Chapala streets in the heart of Santa Barbara’s vibrant downtown. Chef James Siao draws inspiration from the vibrant local ingredients located in the area including local fishers, farmers and ranchers to craft an ingredient driven menu of delectable social plates and soul satisfying larger plates all meant to be served with artisanal wines, craft cocktails and great beers in the warm embrace of our convivial bar and dining room.

Finch & Fork’s bar program focuses on cocktails that are fresh, light and approachable. Santa Barbara’s most forward thinking mixologists; work their magic on clear spirit classics like the Moscow Mule and Bramble but also pay homage to the whisky classics like the Manhattan and Build Your Own Smash- you name the fresh fruit, the spirit and we build it in a mason jar at your table.

Diner Reviews
  • "The food was very good, but the service was so slow and so sloppy. Dirty plates and glasses that needed to be refilled sat in front of us while our waitor just walked by numerous times. He was clueless. And it was annoying that he recommended the most expensive entrees on the menu! There's a huge gap between the chef's exceptional skills and the service on the floor. Pretty disappointing."

  • "We had a very pleasant meal with a couple glasses of wine. The staff were gracious & professional. It is nice to be able to get into a restaurant centrally located downtown without a week's prior reservation (although ours was an early seating which undoubtedly helped). Anyway, quite pleasant, we will return. There is a nightly dinner special; Thursdays is the "pork & cork". I've had it twice and it has been good both times & they throw in the glass of wine."

  • "This was my first time dining at this restaurant. The decor was modern and tasteful, the service was very good. My server was attentive and pleasant. I had the special grilled cheese sandwich that had a bit too much cheese, could have used a little onion or tomato, some garnish on the plate. It was paired with soup and I asked for the spinach soup which was amazing, quite delicious. I wandered around the lovely hotel and everyone was so nice, especially Ben the bartender. It was so perfect. I will be back for sure!"

  • "Inside the Canary Hotel, but it's not hotel food. Small menu but very good selection and I wanted to try everything. We settled on the smoked trout deviled eggs, yummy and the rib-eye was big enough for two people. My wife got the pork cheek gnocchi, outstanding. Would definitely recommend."

  • "We had lunch in the bar on a Thursday and the food, drinks and service was wonderful! Especially the bartenders - friendly, helpful, funny and just great guys. So we went back for brunch on Sunday, ate in the dining room and the food and drinks were great! The service was not good - we were told the bartender had to go downstairs, so it took a really long time to get our drinks. The waitress forgot our water repeatedly and my friend had to go to the bar to get her second bottomless mimosa. On the other hand they comp-ed our drinks for the inconvenience - without us having to ask. I highly recommend."

  • "Located in a hotel near structure parking in downtown Santa Barabra. Very easy to find. Brunch items are good, food is average. Service is slow and can be improved."

  • "Finch & Fork was a delightful surprise. It was a busy Saturday night when we visited, but service was prompt and professional. I felt well fed and cared for. We had pork ribs, a steak and asparagus with bacon vinaigrette with a fried egg on top. Everyone in our party was more than satisfied with the portions and the flavors. We will certainly return. Ask for the main dining room; that's where I'll be next time. We were seated in a front room, to the side of the maitre d' stand, and it felt a little coffee-shopee so I want to see if the main room feels nicer. Otherwise, no complaints for Finch & Fork"

  • "Dinner was amazing. Great whiskey sour and service! The food is delicious and I loved the decor inside. All dark wood with leather and sutle pops of color. I will definitely go back the next time I'm in Santa Barbara. Friendly server and knowlwdgable."

  • "This is a very charming resturant that is part of a hotel. The food and service were very good. We stated out with wild mushroom flatbread, I had the trout and my wife had the risotto. Everything was great. My only complaint was that my glass of Cabernet was a little off. Maybe been opened little to long. This was my fault because they came back to the table a least 3 time and asked how everything was. I would go definatly go back."

  • "This restaurant had been recommended by friends. The food was interesting and well prepared and enjoyable. Parking next door is a plus. The menu is somewhat limited but there should be enough for anyone to find something of interest."

  • "Great addition to downtown Santa Barbara. Really fun menu, great appetizers! Professional staff, good service. Easy parking too! Can be a bit noisy near the bar."

  • "Overall good experience for first visit. Like all hotel restaurants, a little expensive. Kitchen made one minor error on an entree but promptly corrected it. I will go here again."

  • "Located right in downtown Santa Barbara, part of the upscale Canary Hotel, right in the middle of all the downtown activities. The restaurant was quiet at 1pm, but the service is very good and the Devil Eggs appetizer was wonderful. We could eat a few more plates of it!"

  • "We were very disappointed. On Wednesday we both ordered the daily special thinking that bouillabaisse would hit the spot after an eight hour-long-day's journey. To begin we shared the grilled asparagus. The temperature of the food was luke-warm. When the temperature of the bouillabaisse was also luke-warm with little flavour we both gave up. Neither of us finished the dish. Dessert was delicious."

  • "Many higher-end food establishments in this town are a sad disappointment. At last we have found a lovely restaurant with comfortable atmosphere, excellent food and superior service right here in Santa Barbara! We recently enjoyed a delightful evening enhanced by a knowledgeable and very attentive waiter. We will definitely recommend the Fork & Finch to all our discerning friends."

  • "This restaurant has some great choices for dinner. We LOVED the hush puppies (which far too few California restaurants serve). The scallops were fabulous. And the Mac N Cheese - well, I think everyone goes crazy for their recipe. It is exceptional. My only complaint is that the restaurant is NOT an intimate setting. Rather, it is surprisingly large. And, at 7PM on a Friday night, the noise level from the bar area was a bit distracting for dinner conversation. The staff was terrific, though; great service. And we did enjoy our dinner very much. Would go again for those hush puppies alone."

  • "Went here because I wanted to and because I have the Axxess card. Buy one, get one at dinner was nice. I had a steak and my mother had the scallops. Both were excellent. The smashed baked potato with my steak was incredible. We also got olives and a jar of quick pickled stuff. My mom also had the strawberries and cream dessert. She said it was the best part of the meal. Everything was great and I would recommend with or w/o Axxess card."

  • "Very good spot but the food is rather rich with excess use of salt and oils on all dishes."

  • "Always a great time here....service & food is spit on. I think the drinks are a bit pricey, but it is a Hotel, so to be expected"

  • "Nice menu, well executed. Really liked the deviled egg appetizer with bits of smoked trout and my wife loved her pasta with pork ragu. Our waiter really wasn't cut out for that line of work as he forgot and confused requests, gave bad information and then pretty much disappeared on a not-so-busy Monday night. But then there seems to be a trend of rotating servers as whoever has nothing better to do brings your food, clears your plate, etc."

  • "We were staying in the hotel that this restaurant is a part of, so we decided on having breakfast here before checking out. We had the whole wheat waffles and lemon ricotta pancakes. The waffles were really good, but the pancakes stole the show. They were outstanding."

  • "My family and I love great food and call ourselves foodies. We live on the peninsula near San Francisco and have been known to drive up to napa for dinner. Finch and fork lived up to its reviews. I would recommend it and go back when in town."

  • "My husband and I really enjoyed our date night dinner! Thanks!"

  • "I ask you, how can you mess up French toast? Well, this place did that like no other-Raw! My fiancé and I selected this place due to mainly it's location and being on OT. First the waiter seemed WAY flustered and confused. The place was not full and from what we saw there were about 10 tables occupied and three wait staff, so overworked, I shall say not! First my fiancé ordered there banana bread, well he came back and said, "all gone". Seriously, out of banana bread at like 1100 am on a Sat? Well, that was the precursor to the next dish she ordered, the French toast. My dish was good, no complaints, but her French toast was uncooked and runny. Had it sent back and it literally took 20 min to remake and it still was not good! Horrible!"

  • "We came here for our anniversary and had a lovely dinner of small plates. Everything was delicious and fresh. The cauliflower with capers was cooked to perfection and the corn taken off the cob was bursting with flavor. The beet salad was pretty to look at and very tasty. Fish tacos were ho hum and not that special. Overall the meal was great and we would highly recommend."

  • "I've been here for a work function (set menu for 40 people was surprisingly well executed and my steak was perfect) but also several times for dinner and the food/drinks are great. Also, for downtown, this place is never packed, which is nice. There always seems to be a lag between apps and entrees, but so far they've always brought us a complementary dish (deviled eggs or pickled veggies), which can be somewhat annoying when you're trying to save room for your delicious dinner, but the thought is always appreciated so you don't feel forgotten about. Pork cheek gnocchi is the best, although has been a bit salty on occasion. If you live in Santa Barbara, use your Axxess card, it's a great deal."

  • "We were looking for someplace in Santa Barbara to eat after a long drive and were attending a "location" wedding on July 4th. We found Finch and Fork via Yelp and enjoy trying new places. One thing that appealed to us was they took reservations and we did not want to chance not eating or having to wait, cutting into the time we had to be at the wedding. We enjoyed a very nice brunch, the service was just right, and it was a relaxing moment before the start of a long-busy-emotional afternoon/evening with family. Its located in an upscale hotel which is interesting as well. Overall, a great dining experience."

  • "Yes, Finch & Fork has some fun and classic cocktails, but their food was excellent, too. The Gnocci with pork ragu was exceptional as was the fresh fish preparation. We had two pre-teens dine with us, and they both liked the food + it was a fair price for a kids meal/drink/dessert combo."

  • "Just a perfect blend of everything that feels good. Food is tasty and original, people are absolutely the best... every one of them including the bus staff, the bartenders and the drinks are tops & the atmosphere at the Canary Hotel is like a cozy European gem."

  • "My husband and I enjoyed the seafood potpie for dinner, which was hot and savory. I ordered my favorite cocktail - their award-winning figueroa - and was not disappointed. Our server was prompt and friendly. He misheard my husband's drink order, but he was extremely professional and promptly corrected the mistake. We both enjoy the atmosphere here with its high ceilings and historic architecture. It's one of our favorite restaurants in Santa Barbara."
