A word from Fearing's
Fearing’s Restaurant is located within The Ritz-Carlton, Dallas in the vibrant Uptown neighborhood. The restaurant has received countless accolades since opening, including being recognized as No. 1 in Hotel Dining by the Zagat U.S. Hotels, Resorts, and Spas Survey. Its continued recognition can largely be attributed to the lively personality and flavorful menus of its creator - Chef Dean Fearing. With his “Elevated American Cuisine – Bold Flavors, No Borders” and Texas’ fresh farm-to-table ingredients, Fearing has created an indoor/outdoor culinary experience that is like no other in Dallas. The bold flavors of Fearing’s can be savored in specialties such as the Tortilla Soup, Barbecued Shrimp Taco and Maple-Black Peppercorn Soaked Buffalo Tenderloin. An array of rare premium tequilas, Dean’s Margaritas, and nearly 6,000 bottles of boutique and rare-vintage wines can be enjoyed within the restaurant and it's lively Rattlesnake Bar. Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "The food was what I expected from Dean and much more so, having tasted his specialties many years previous (we have cooked together once before many years ago). The Barbequed Oysters were fantastically tender and tasty, the Pan Seared Hudson Foie Gras was just exactly underdone to make it perfect and the quince jam a special touch. The Lockhart Quail was tender, juicy and specifically de-boned to an excellent presentation. I believe this to have been Pharaoh Quail instead of any local Bob White but the taste, presentation and accompanying flavors were superb. A most excellent taste experience, a good surprise in finding the Puligny Montrachet, my wife's favorite, and the pure pleasure of a true gastronomic outing. Best Kudos to Fearings."

  • "This is a great place to celebrate a special occasion. The Tortilla Soup was a perfect starter (split for two). The Buffalo Tenderloin and the Filet with Chicken Fried Lobster were absolutely delicious! You won't have room for dessert, which is OK. They give you free sea salt chocolate brownies for dessert as a parting gift."

  • "Dallas has a way of hyping it's restaurants. In fact, D-Magazine gave this restaurant a top 10 position, coming in at the seventh the best in the city. We had heard a lot about Chef Dean Fearing, and his unique culinary skills. We were looking forward to his version of old favorites, I'll be at with a Texas flair. Unfortunately the food was average at best, and the bill was double what it should have been, especially with all of the competition out there. But like most excellent recommended Dallas restaurants. The ribeye was of poor quality, throwingA-1 steak sauce mixed with barbecue sauce in an attempt to smother the steak from breathing. I should also mention that all of the meet was overcooked by at least one temperature."

  • "We celebrated our anniversary at Fearing's and were not disappointed with the food and service. However, we were seated in the room without tablecloths in view of the kitchen, and it did not feel like a celebratory meal. Nonetheless, the barbecued oysters, scallops and lamb were delicious."

  • "The service was outstanding, the chef was so kind to not only stop and say hello, but actually have a conversation. The food was perfectly portioned sized and delicious. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "Evening was amazing from Dean Fearing coming to our table to welcome us to the service to the AMAZING food! I would highly recommend if you have not been here before."

  • "Took first time Dallas visitors to Fearings. We sat in the Chef's room and Dean came by and glad handed us as expected. The man knows his craft! Paul helped us select some great wine. The food was great and it was a blast seeing all the activity in the kitchen. We had one vegetarian and they had a wonderful separate menu for her. My only complaint was our waiter while knowledgeable was a little soft spoken and not a great help navigating the menu. When asked for recommendations he basically named everything on the menu. Also, the Chef's room is a bit noisy - it is what we wanted but may not be for everyone. Overall, a great dinner at a true Dallas gem."

  • "Absolutely outstanding dinner at Fearing's! Can't remember when I enjoyed a meal as much as during my recent visit. Chef made the rounds of diners, greeting and seeking feedback. Recommend without reservation."

  • "Went to Fearing’s for a casual lunch and got way more than we expected. When the wait staff discovered it was a special day for us, our 20th wedding anniversary, they went all in. We were treated like the most important people in Dallas. The waiter, chefs and GM couldn't be happier to ensure this was a memorable and relaxing lunch. I'm certain there were more "important" customers, as the room was packed with the daily business crowd, but you would never know. You have no worries while being taken care of this capable staff. Hats off to Chef Dean and his consummate professional team."

  • "Dean Fearing truly has it all figured out. Decor, service, down to every detail on every single plate....truly amazing! Perfection!"

  • "Food was great and diversified with a short (compared to others) wine list that did not disappoint. Service was very good and I mean in a way that they did their job and let my guests and me enjoy the food and conversation...didn't notice they were there unless you needed them...bravo."

  • "My wife had the Oyster appetizer, and the bacon and sauces completely overpowered the delicate crab, and the Oysters were quite small for the value. I had the quail, which was good, although I felt that there could have been a slightly larger wedge of lettuce on the plate. We split the Banana Pudding, which was probably the best of the three. They gave us a complimentary piece of wedding cake, which was good, although it wasn't something we wanted. We would have preferred a complimentary dessert in lieu of the cake. Overall, we were quite disappointed. We have never been to Dallas, and our "fine dining" experience at Fearing's left us unfulfilled."

  • "The food was beautifully plated and delicious - with generous sized portions, even at lunch. It was a special place to celebrate."

  • "Food was not prepared well (overdone scallops, a sea of pasta that masked a beautiful piece of fish, overdone filet mignon). Best part was the dessert."

  • "The wait staff was quick to bring bread, take drink orders and answer questions. The food was delicious, very pleasant and flavorful. Highlight of the evening was the Flash Seared Hudson Valley Foie Gras. Best foie gras I've ever had- I promise if you thought you didn't like foie gras, try this and you will change your mind. Overall, you come here for a true dining experience. From attentive service, personal interactions with the Somm to enjoy great wine paired with great food- to a lovely atmosphere, Fearing's captured what so many "fine" dining restaurants miss. If you are ok with spending money on a dining experience, you will love this place."

  • "My wife and I very much enjoyed our experience at Fearing's. We were seated immediately and addressed by our names, as though we dined at Fearing's daily. The buffalo and antelope with accompaniments were spectacularly prepared and the desserts heavenly. We will return!!"

  • "We had a great first time dining experience at Fearing's with wonderful food and very attentive service. We started with the appetizer sampler of lobster taco, crabcake and duck tamale (all delicious) and also ordered the lobster bisque that was a little different but still good. For entrees we had the bone-in rib eye steak which was seasoned well and was cooked perfectly and the pork chop which was also great. The wait staff team were all working together delivering food and making sure all was well. It was a real pleasure to be greeted by Chef Fearing as he came to our table and chatted with several other patrons as well. At the end of the meal they brought a piece of cake in honor of my wife's birthday. Can't wait to return!"

  • "Ours servers were fantastic. The perfect balance of friendliness and privacy. The food was outstanding. I wish we could have tried the entire menu in one sitting. I lived in Jackson Hole, Wyoming and dined at some very high end restaurants with prices to match and none of them come close to the quality and creativity of your offerings. Your prices are very reasonable considering the caliber of food you offer. Keep up the good work. We will be back."

  • "from the people at the checkin register- very inattentive were talking amongst each other while we stood and stared at them. waitress seem rushed and wouldn't even stop by to acknowledge us had to have other waiters fill in. when she did get to us she was again rushing and didn't explain or even wait for us to finish our sentence. Asked no bacon on food and they messed that up to. The chef was nice enough to come by and apologize but there are many better dining options with great service."

  • "I was not pleased with the fact a restaurant like this would allow a large (non working) dog to come into this restaurant! It was obvious it was a resident of the hotel as the staff became over focused on this particular customer and his dog. This was not a guide dog and was unacceptable how the staff became hyper focused on bringing treats and water to the dog. I won't return... there are too many exceptional restaurants in Dallas to not have to eat with large dogs. That is what a patio restaurant is for...even if you live at the ritz."

  • "This was my first time eating at Fearings and it was memorable. What a beautiful dining room, the decor is so artistically do that I felt I was in another world. The service could not have been better and the sommelier was brilliant. My husband is very knowledgable and passionate about wine and they enjoyed "talking the talk". Our daughter is a vegetarian and this was the best restaurant for her as far as choices, complete separate menu. Our whole family enjoyed each dish and had a great time together ."

  • "The buffalo tenderloin is amazing. I had mine rare and am so glad, it melts in your mouth like the darkest blue fin sashimi. The crust is so flavorful, rich and complimenting the ring of cooked meat and the rare inside. It's like a meat bonbon of the most exquisite quality. And the roasted pepper sauce that accompanies it is a perfect accent creamy, smokey, and with a little heat. My othe half loved his akuashi steak and chicken fried lobster (both delicious) but was still jealous of my buffalo. The service was friendly and polite and spot on. The sommolier truly loves his job and will introduce you to wonderful wines you never knew existed, trust him you won't regret it."

  • "My husband and I came to Fearings for our 1st wedding anniversary and we LOVED it! The serivce was above and beyond what we expected. At one point my husband asked if they had a list of beers and before our waitress could say anything, someone was behind us handing us a drink menu. It was amazing. The food was spectacular and was delivered to our table extremely quick. We might make this our permanent anniversary place!!"

  • "This was my first time at Fearing's and definitely won't be my last. The menu offered an eclectic mix of entrees and appetizers, all with a Texas flair. The service was impeccable, attentive, but not hovering. The waitstaff knew the menu in detail and made wonderful recommendations."

  • "Fearing's is absolutely our favorite place to eat in the world. If I knew that I was going to die tomorrow, I would eat at Fearing's tonight. It has been consistently excellent without being stuffy in every way. Our evening at Fearing's on Saturday March 8 was unfortunately not up to standards for the first time ever. My wife and I were celebrating her birthday and she ordered the lobster and filet that she has eaten before. She enjoys her steak medium well and cannot tolerate anything more rare than that. The meal came out with the lobster overcooked and the steak medium rare. She sent the steak back and it again returned still on the rare side of medium. Cudos still to the staff who did not charge us for her meal and dessert was gratis."

  • "Besides the uncooked pancakes, the meal was fine. We have noticed a decrease in service at brunch as compared to dinner. Hard to put a finger on it but it is noticeable. Nothing that would keep us from coming back but best to check on brunch staff so to nip service problems in the bud."
    Dined on 3/9/2014
  • "We enjoyed the evening. Very lovely setting in a beautiful hotel. Everything was nice. Service was OK, but nothing spectacular. I question if the very casual dress (jeans with shirt tails out) of the wait staff tends to make the service too casual as well. Food is good, but I wonder was the evening worth $300 for the two of us. There are plenty of other restaurants in Dallas with food of equal, if not better, quality--and better service--for a less money. Glad we tried it, but probably won't go back."

  • "The food is creative and outstanding, service very good and the wine list is impressive. It's very unique -- good for a special occasions. The only two complaints: Very expensive (but you know that going in) and the dining room is kind of hacked up into three separate rooms. We were in one of the side rooms which was quiet and dark but the main room was more lively. We thought that it took away a little bit from the overall experience. Overall, very good and would return but not consistently"
