A word from Fearing's
*Please note, Fearing's Restaurant will not be participating in the 2014 Restaurant Week.
Fearing’s Restaurant is located within The Ritz-Carlton, Dallas in the vibrant Uptown neighborhood. The restaurant has received countless accolades since opening, including being recognized as No. 1 in Hotel Dining by the Zagat U.S. Hotels, Resorts, and Spas Survey. Its continued recognition can largely be attributed to the lively personality and flavorful menus of its creator - Chef Dean Fearing. With his “Elevated American Cuisine – Bold Flavors, No Borders”, Fearing has created an indoor/outdoor culinary experience that is like no other in Dallas. The bold flavors of Fearing’s can be savored in specialties such as the Tortilla Soup, Barbecued Shrimp Taco and Maple-Black Peppercorn Soaked Buffalo Tenderloin. An array of rare premium tequilas, Dean’s Margaritas, and nearly 6,000 bottles of boutique and rare-vintage wines can be enjoyed within the restaurant and it's lively Rattlesnake Bar. Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "I was not happy with the service and the way we were treated. Manager explained to me they were not able to keep up because they were so busy but over half the restaurant was empty. Waited an hour to receive the first drinks. Bar was ok."

  • "The food and service are always both fantastic! It's also a treat when Dean Fearing comes out of the kitchen to say hello to his customers!! Fabulous restaurant!!"

  • "From Dean himself rounding tables to the exquisite plating this place hit it out of the park for my wife and I. For our anniversary we got a card and a piece of wedding cake that was thoughtful. We will be back if not just for the carpacio and a drink. The only thing is the drink (non-wine) menu is a little short so come knowing what you want to drink."

  • "Fearing's exceeded or matched every expectation I had prior to dining at the restaurant. The only downside was not being seated on time, but Rida offered us a couple of glasses of Champaign (complementary) while we were waiting. The food was exceptional, and the service was great without being intrusive. I highly recommend Fearing's, and I will definitely be back. If you don't feel like having a full dinner, and you want to have a drink and a couple of appetizers, I recommend the inside bar area, and the outside patio. It is great for people watching too."

  • "We went to Fearings for an anniversary dinner with our family. Setting was beautiful and Chef Fearing greeted us at our table(very charming). The somm was incredibly nice and knowledgeable and suggested two stellar bottles. The appetizers were each amazing(trio of lobster taco, short rib enchilada, and crab cake) tortilla soup, lobster bisque, fried oysters. All just incredible. The entrees were not so much. We all tried different items and the bone rib eye(too much sauce),lamb(too many weird sauces), buffalo tenderloin. All just not good. The halibut entree was the only one that was good. Given the prices there were highlights bot not enough. If I did it again, I would order a bowl of tortilla soup and an appetizer and called it a night."

  • "We made reservations to celebrate our anniversary . The waiters were not very attentive. They placed our dinner menus in front of us, then asked if we wanted a drink. I had to ask for the wine list 3 times. They seemed to be "checked out" -it was like they did not even hear me. One waiter interrupted our conversation twice. The shirts the waiters were wearing looked like they had been washed one too many times and were ill fitting. This experience did not live up to what I consider to be a 5 star restaurant. I will say the carpaccio was delicious. Our friends ordered the beef with the corn pudding and the corn pudding was actually burned - this is unacceptable for this restaurant."

  • "The food and ambience of Fearing's is fantastic! Dean Fearing came to our table to make sure all was well, and the chicken-fried lobster with filet was a lovely pairing. I highly recomend this restaurant."

  • "My wife and I had an Anniversary dinner at Fearing's. This was an amazing dinner the food was perfect and the wait staff was great. Chef Fearing came out to the table and spoke with us which was an added bonus. The choice of food is something you can't get an any other restaurant which makes this an even better spot. The other added bonus was the staff would bring samples to your table to try. I would highly recommend this to anyone."

  • "We have been to Fearings's numerous times and the food was as good as always. We had the tasting menu, which always has innovative fare. Our only complaint was the service was off from their normal excellent standard. Drinks ordered arrived during the first course instead of before. It seemed that they weren't quite organized. However the food was excellent and we will go again."

  • "We lived in Dallas for over 35 years , recently retiring into the trees of east Texas. On a whim we decided to treat ourselves to a night in the city and to dinner at Fearing. What a special surprise to have the Chef himself stop by the table , not once but twice during our dinner. The iconic dishes such as the tortilla soup were certainly outstanding, as were the featured main courses, Halibut and also the Lamb Chop with the grilled Shrimp with curry sauce. Service was better than anywhere we have experienced in years. Atmosphere was vibrant and alive with activity and energy. I've been all over the world and would be hard pressed to remember a better more satisfying evening."

  • "We celebrated our twentieth anniversary at Fearings. They went above and beyond to make our celebration special."

  • "The scallops and halibut were perfect. The tortilla soup is a Dean Fearing staple and outstanding as always. We always appreciate Chef Fearing's visits to the diners' tables - something all chef's should do, but most don't."

  • "To get a true taste of what Texas cooking is all about, Fearing's has to be on your must list to visit. The flavors of the many components that compris a single dish are perfectly balanced and embody Texas' rich history. The "no dress code" policy maintains the Texas vibe, but nobody looked like they just came in from the pool. It's classy, not stuffy. The hardest part will be choosing what to order, so plan in advance to come back, because you will."

  • "I chose Fearing's for a special Birthday dinner for my boyfriend and his daughter. Visited the restaurant many times and it was always perfect. This visit the food was not good. 3 of our party of 4 chose a Sea Bass Entree that was extremely OVERCOOKED and not edible. Our server was very unavailable and we had an extreme language barrier issue. I won't be dining there again soon. So disappointed."

  • "If you live in Dallas, you know Fearing's is amazing. If you're visiting, you must come by and visit. I have yet to meet someone who is legitimately disappointed with an experience at Fearing's. Dean is amazing with his food, presentation, and service. Even when he's not there, the restaurant turns out five star service every time."

  • "The actual menu at the restaurant was different than listed on the website. When I made the reservation, there were some dishes that I really wanted to try from what was on the website. So, a little disappointed when I got there. My husband's entre was great-- the butternut squash taquito plate. But, I was disappointed with my orchiette pasta dish. It was bland and flavorless. The desserts were excellent"

  • "We've been many times but this last visit was a complete wreck. We were sat in uncomfortable benches near a large party when the dining room was sparse. The waiter had no wine knowledge & the Somm apparently had just left. We ordered in 3 courses but the first 2 came out together. When we sent the 2nd one back, it just sat in the window & then was still ran out before we were done with the 1st. The entrees came out immediately as well but were sloppy. Our prawns were raw so we asked our waiter for cooked ones. They overcooked the ones we sent back & then came charred & overcooked. All food was bland & lukewarm. The mgr & waiter apologized for the poor food & comped our apps & dessert. Still very Underwhelming dinner. Very disappointed."

  • "We always enjoy going to Fearing's we want a nice night out. It is relaxing (especially in the back room that is joined to the kitchen). The food was excellent as usual and everyone was very attentive. We went outside to the outdoor bar and spent a very pleasant evening with a after dinner cup of coffee."

  • "My wife and I just had our second experience at Fearings since we moved to DFW a couple years ago. It was more impressive this time than the first, and we were impressed the first time. We started with the sampler...crab cake, pulled pork taco and lobster-avocado taco...all delicous. My wife is not a big meat eater, but order the filet and chicken-fried lobster...with the spinach enchilada in the Fearings sauce...she absolutely loved it. I had the bone-in ribeye with "mop" sauce...and it came with Dean Fearings' famous cornbread pudding...and deep fried, breaded asparagus. Phenomenal. Just a fantastic experience. Only downside was that our main waiter seemed disinterested. Not a huge deal, everyone has bad nights."

  • "We don't make it to Dallas often, but Fearing's is becoming a favorite of ours for the experience it offers. It's "Texan with a difference"; some familiar Southwestern seasonings in unfamiliar dishes."

  • "When we want to have a really special meal we go to Fearings! The food is always wonderful, the service is just right and they always have a great new wine to try. If Dean Fearing is in town, his presence adds a really special touch to dinner as he will stop and visit and tell you what is the "special of the evening". This is just our "go to place" for that special dinner and evening. We love to stop in the Rattlesnake bar for a glass of wine first and then head off to dinner. Perfect evening!"

  • "Heard quite a bit of feedback on Fearing's, that it was great, and was a place you wanted to visit while you were in Dallas. Well guess what?? Fearing's lived up to the hype! Tortilla soup was awesome and the bone in rib eye was fantastic! If you like great service and perfectly cooked steak you have to check this place out."

  • "I had heard a lot about Fearing's in the Dallas food media. However, I had a disappointing lunch experience on my first visit. Service was poor. A wine menu was not provided. I asked for one, but that request was ignored. When our food arrived we had to ask a different passing waiter to bring a wine menu. The booths had rather worn-out lumpy cushioned seating -- well past their "change out" date. My seat cushion was stained from a prior spill. Definitely not what one would expect at the Ritz Carlton. On the positive side, the food was beautifully presented and good."

  • "Food was great. Had the salmon with a sweetish BBQ sauce on it. The chocolate toffee dessert was delish as well. Atmosphere was really nice. Valet was great. The waiters had a brown, yellow, orange striped shirt on and left it untucked and this was their uniform. Thought that should be stepped up a bit. Had a great time!"

  • "The food was good, but not as good as previous times, although the lighter Caesar salad was awesome. My husband said his steak was not even as tasty as those we had cooked at home a few nights earlier. I admit I did not ask to be seated in one of the nicer dining rooms, but I hoped we would. We weren't, so I accepted the 'kitchen room.' The seat in the booth was so low (worn out?) I was sitting lower to the table than was really comfortable. It was our anniversary and we were dressed nicely--but seated at the next table was a girl wearing shorts and a tank top. I always thought of Fearing's as a step up from the casual neighborhood cafe, but obviously there is no dress code, even on a Saturday evening."

  • "Fearing's came highly recommended and it did not disappoint. Bar scene was a fun and interesting group. Bar tenders were friendly. Dinner was great and expertly prepared. Lobster coconut bisque was the best I ever had. Only disappointment was our waiter. He had no personality. He did what he was suppose to, just wished he was not having an off day. The rest of the wait staff was perfect. I would highly recommend if you are looking for something a little different from the typical steakhouse."

  • "The food was delicious. Everyone in my group had a seafood dish and they were all very good. We loved the inventive accompaniments that came with each dish. When we asked to split the check our server got clearly upset and frustrated for the rest of the meal and not very nice. Otherwise it was a wonderful experience."

  • "Fearings is always a treat to visit just because of the wow factor of the design - it's beautiful. I've had some great meals here, usually lunch. The latest lunch on 18th June, was not great - apricot salmon served on top of blackeye peas and green beans. The description made it sound more interesting than it turned out to be. It was just ordinary and soso. Green beans were a bit underdone and just no flavor really and the blackeye peas were a little mushy. The salmon had a sweet glaze but not one you would immediately recognize as apricot. On the other hand the service is good and we left with a cute little dessert box each. Could have been just an off day."

  • "I recently went to Father's day brunch but am on a special diet that does not include simple carbs or sugar. There was nothing on the menu without one or both of the forbidden items. They were able to modify one dish so I could eat. They took my diet seriously and cooked me something special. I just wish there were more choices for one trying to eat healthy."

  • "I have been to Fearing's at least half a dozen times, and the service seems to get better with each trip. We celebrated our anniversary there last weekend and were treated so wonderfully well. And of course, the food is delicious."

  • "Fearings is a beautiful restaurant with a great ambiance and even better service. The menu is exceedingly creative and the execution is even better. I would recommend dining here to anyone. Try the barbecue shrimp taco appetizer."
