Diner Reviews
  • "My friends and I spent two and half wonderful hours dining at Fabiolus, and enjoyed every minute of it. The owner, Fabio came over twice to say hello, the waiters were attentive and the food was amazing. From the Calamari to Halibut and pesto pasta specials, we enjoyed every bite, not to mention the bread and wine. Some of us did have mixed drinks, since they have full bar. The patio was the perfect setting on a cool summer's evening. A memorable and fun night. Also a short walk to nearby clubs and the theater. Will definitely be back."

  • "Ate there before going to a play at the Pantages. They valet your car for $10, then you can walk up to the theater. You need to be an average walker with comfortable shoes. The food was very good, we started with the burrata, generous ball of soft tasty mozzarella cheese atop a halved roma tomato proportioned well, slightly more tomato than cheese but seasoned deliciously. We both had a pasta dish, the gnocchi was the better of the two, nice puffy and delicate. I had the special of the evening, orecchiette with sausage. They use kamut pasta which I hoped I would like, but it has a grainy mouth texture and lacks flavor. The wait staff were great although the lull between appetizer and entree was a little italian, lol."

  • "What used to be a better experience seems to have slowly declined. The latest renovation enlarged the outdoor patio seating which is lovely. But the quality and value of the food is meh, at best, and has declined from prior visits. The menu is largely the same, but the food just is not keeping pace with the price or prior quality. Just one example, "Oven roasted potatoes" on the menu and the specials board were deep fried thick cut french fries...and I'd guess frozen ones at that."

  • " We have have found some excellent dining establishments in the Pantages Theater neighborhood, unfortunately however, Fabiolus Cucina is not one of them. The service is punctual and friendly, the outdoor atmosphere is fine, and noise was not a problem. But the food was disappointing. My wife's Rosemary Chicken was tough and overly-sauced, with little rosemary nuance. My Dijon Chicken was equally overwhelmed in a cream-heavy, mustard-light sauce. The mixed vegetables, lacking the desired firmness, turned into a soggy potpourri…mixed reviews concerning the roasted potatoes…thumbs up for her and thumbs down from me. We have decided, however, to give Fabiolus another sporting-chance sometime…perhaps try their pasta dishes instead."

  • "This resturant had great food. My party really enjoyed it. Next time we are in Hollywood we are going to make sure that we are going back for dinner. The outside spot to eat was excellant. It was a perfect night to eat outside and they have a beautiful spot to eat at. We loved it!!!!!!"

  • "I was staying around the corner for the night, and we decided to try Fabiolus for dinner. VERY good choice. the service was outstanding. Fabio to a personal interest in each customer that came in. The Pasta dishes were prepared excellent, and hot when they arrived! I will recommend this diamond in the rough to my friends that frequent LA. Thank you Fabio, and your crew for a memorable dining experience!"

  • "This is my favorite restaurant in Hollywood. Delicious, fresh pizza and pasta, always cooked perfectly. They've been running a special where you get a specialty chicken, pasta and salad all on one plate for $12. The chicken could be cooked better, but the pasta and salad are always great. It was my birthday, so as a member of their email list, I got an offer for $20 off or 10% off (whichever is greater), so had a nice birthday dinner with friends and got $20 off. The staff was great and treated me to a dessert and song (even if it was against my will :) When hitting a movie at the Arclight, food options are not many in the area. Tender Greens gets chaotic and old, so Fabiolus is a great alternative, just leave yourself plenty of time."

  • "The waitstaff is always amazingly ebullient and helpful with the food selection. The food is outstanding, not terribly expensive and a great addendum to a night out on the town. I highly recommend saving room for dessert as well--they have an outstanding selection of cakes and pies. The panna cotta is delicious with strawberry and a hint of mint."

  • "Another one of LA's little gems for a night out. Fabio has created a very special place."

  • "Right down the street from the Pantages Theater, this made a great spot for a quick bite. The food was very good, with lots of authentic Italian selections. Though not a drinker, they had quite an extensive wine and drink list as well. We sat out on the patio which was very."

  • "The food is pretty good, but could be improved upon. The chicken filets in both the rosemary and the dijon chicken dishes was somewhat dry. the minestrone soup was plain and uninspiring. The vegetables and potatoes were prepared well. the staff is friendly, but you often have to ask for things, as they don't seem to anticipate things (e.g. you have no bread, and might just like some more). The bread could be warmer and fresher, however."

  • "We took our friend to celebrate her bday, she wanted Italian for dinner and after a search for restaurants with great reviews and decent pricing we found this one. Finding parking in the area was easy. the wAiter was friendly and he quickly found a nice table for us. The wine was fine and inexpensive and the appetizers were tasty specially the calamari , the main dishes were fine I just wish the chicken in my dish had more flavor and the sauce was incorporated before serving it and not on the side but The portions were generous and overall it was a good dinner. I think it was a good choice and I def will come back."

  • "I had a chicken breast dinner. It was o.k. The chicken was too thick, I like chicken breast to be thin. I would never order that dish again. The vegetables that came with it were very good."

  • "Finally found a great restaurant to dine in near the Pantages Theater, of which I attend regularly. Found this one on a computer search, had good reviews, and it is just below Hollywood Blvd and the theater. The food was consistently delicious - from the appetizers to main dishes. We did the range from seafood salads, seafood pasta, salmon and chicken Dijon - all delicious and generous portions. Dessert great, too; although would have liked a more creamy but with hard shell crème brulee, and they ran out of Tiramisu by the time we ordered. So happy to find this restaurant and will be back! The wait staff very attentive and some charming. A very nice dining experience ..."

  • "No flavor in 2 polenta dishes, one pasta was decent. Great setting, wish the food was better. It was disappointing. "

  • "The people that work here are great and the food is amazing, authentic Italian food for an amazing price. Perfect for dates and/or special occasions."

  • "I'm by no means a food expert. However, I did expect more taste from the food from a restaurant in L.A. And from a restaurant listed on the Pantages website. The food lacked seasoning. Maybe is was what I ordered or maybe it was an off day...From the appetizers to the desserts, the experience was not what I expected."

  • "I took my mom here for lunch before seeing a play. The homemade pasta was incredible and the flourless chocolate cake was outstanding. Both were fresh and satisfying without being heavy or starchy. Reasonable prices and friendly staff made the meal perfect!"

  • "Each one of us had different dishes and drinks and everyone of us was pleased. Efficient and quick service with a smile and quite timely too. We dined before the 6:30pm show at the Pantages. We parked at the lot across from the theatre and walked the two blocks - just perfect. "

  • "Great food and atmosphere! Try the Calamari it is amazing, and the marinara with it was perfectly seasoned; fresh and sweet. If the rest of the menu is even a little bit as delightful as the beef polenta was then I'm in for it! A truly wonderful find and nothing like Olive Garden. I will be returning as soon as possible. "

  • "Food was oversalted. Covered patio was noisy. Staff was accomodating."
    Dined on 4/19/2014
  • "The food is mediocre, at best, and very over-priced. I would have preferred going to the Olive Garden over this place. We only went because we were going to the theater and my companion had eaten there before. He recalled that the food was significantly better the last time he had been there. I also think they charged me for garlic bread that was returned because it was too salty. Next time I will go elsewhere."

  • "Had another good meal at Fabiolus Cucina The service was a little slow, however the ambience was very nice. I'll be back."

  • "The restaurant itself is small but expanded tremendously by the very comfortable tented patio areas. The menu is varied with something for everyone - it even catered to my gluten-free friend with multiple pasta and polenta choices. There were several large groups present but the noise was never excessive. The polenta was wonderful and the prices were good. And the valet lot where we could leave our car for only $10 and walk to the theater after dinner was a real plus."

  • "We had reservations at 6:30 and didn't get there till 7:00 due to heavy traffic. We also had 8:00 show tickets to see a musical at The Pantages. They got us in and out (drinks, bread, salads, and entrees) without ever feeling rushed. I even asked that they call us a cab (even though the theatre is super close) because it was really windy and cold, and we were clearly on a tight schedule. The cab arrived just as I signed the check and we were dropped off at the entrance to the theatre for less than $5. Perfect timing on everything and the food and service is fantastic!!!"

  • "We were seated to a table immediately... few diners no waiting even though it was suggested that we pre order before our late arrival. First dining experience, bread and water came quickly then salad. Then we waited for our entree, and waited...noticed that our entree was served to another table. During our meal the waiters were attentive in filling our water glasses. We patiently waited for our bill, and we waited again for a box to take one of our remaining entrees with us."

  • "Wonderful food and service. And it's location a block from the Pantages Theater makes it a great place for dinner before a show. You can park at the restaurant and walk to the theater."
    Dined on 3/15/2014
  • "After reading previous reviews we expected a bit more from the food but the quality was low for the price. The gnocchi was chewy and my wife's risotto was just so-so. There are several seating areas at the restaurant. The back section seems the more lively and with the better atmosphere. We were seated in the front which seemed more like an old diner. Too bright and no real soul. The restaurant also had internet issues so there were a lot of problems with processing credit cards. On the positive side, this restaurant is convenient to the Pantages and they will allow you to leave your car in the valet lot during the show. Not bad for $10 and the theater is a quick 2 block walk away. We probably won't be coming back."

  • "Best pasta my wife and I have had since we were last in Italy. The Tagliatelle Bolognese is EXACTLY like what you would get in Bologna, with perfectly al dente pasta and incredibly flavorful meat sauce. The owner, Fabio, is from Verona and has several Veronese dishes on the menu. He's a really nice guy who sincerely cares about his customers' experience. He's the one that delivers the dishes to the table, and it's clear that he's proud of what he's created. The restaurant is only a few blocks from the Pantages Theater and is a perfect place for a meal before or after a performance. Ask for Angel as a server; she's excellent."

  • "Packed when we got there, but were seated immediately -- on one of the "patios." Service was prompt & we enjoyed wine with appetizers. Hubby's seafood pasta -steaming and delicious. My Pollo Dijon - lukewarm and sides were COLD. Sent back & had a glass of wine while I waited (awhile). Finally, dish arrives -- sides - HOT, chicken barely warm. By this time hubby is nearly finished so we just sent it back and said to take it off the bill. As we were leaving owner asked how things were so we told him. He apologized and said our server had told him what had happened. Promised our next visit would be perfect. That's it. Nothing comped. No business card to ensure perfect "next visit." Doubt we'll be back. Should have comped the glass of wine. :("

  • "We had dinner here prior to attending the Pantages Theater. It was a great choice. Although we were a little late for our reservation, they made sure we were served promptly and had plenty of time to get to the theater. And the food was lovely. We were a party of 4, and each person ordered something different. The portions were generous, and all 4 of us enjoyed the choices we made. We will definitely be back!"

  • "I would go here again next time I'm going to the pantages. Very good service. Nice atmosphere. Food was good and resonably priced. Only complaint was chicken was not right. I don't know how to explain...it was not of a proper consistency. It was icky. Nice to have valet parking there for 10 dollars and then walk the 3 blocks or so."
