  • "food was good. The lamb was very tender and so was the grilled octopus as the appetizer. In terms of service and logistics is where they would need improvements. They were out of the 2 wines I wanted to order, the service was very slow on a non-busy night and I was only half done my main course, went to the bathroom and the waiter cleared my plate without even asking or packing it up to go. Would go again for food but not for the service."

  • "Food was excellent!!! The atmosphere of the restaurant was minimalist, upscale Greek (i.e., didn't have the sometimes overbearing Greek paraphernalia that some Greek restaurants typically have). However, the service was lacking, other than the manager(?) who was extra-friendly and always checked in with us. We seemed to have two servers, getting passed off to the second one after we finished ordering (even though the first server continued to take new tables around us). Unfortunately, neither server was attentive, friendly, or told us anything about the menu. Again, if it wasn't for the manager, this experience would have been not been pleasant."

  • "My husband had the filetted bass - delicious. I had the spinach with lamb in phyllo - also delicious. The food is Greek but upscale from the Danforth. It was a lovely dinner also a bit pricy. Sea bass should not have to cost $39.00. Phyllo pastry is cheap and my entree was $23. We did not have any drinks and the bill was over $100.00+tip. It was a nice meal though and a great memory of our weekend in TO."

  • "This is one of our family favourites. The ambience and food are delightful. The absence of tzatski and brochettes is a welcome change. Our party included teens and a senior and everyone enjoyed themselves and the food. We will definitely return for our next special occasion. I have been to Volos wit my husband for a romantic dinner.   • "I don't know where to start from... I had fisherman's stew and my gf had their giant scallops. We also shared a plate of Horiotiki salad. I honestly can't remember any other place like this and I've been to bazillion places. Very impressive! The decor of the restaurant also adds to the experience. As for the service, we were lucky to be served by Mr. Bret. We are Iranian and guess what? Bret knew Farsi better than anyone can imagine. Very nice gentleman. He is also an opera singer! The floor manager also is also very respectful gentleman. Overall I certainly and definitely recommend this place. Great food and people. What else could you ask for?! VOLSO changed my view of Toronto food scene."

  • "My wife and I had dinner here on a Friday evening as we were in the area. She is not a seafood person so we tried non seafood starters which were very good - the house specialty from the town of Volos was excellent. She had the moussaka and I had the scallops as mains - both were very tasty. Our waiter was top notch - attentive but not overly, good sense of humour, good recommendations. the food came very quickly - almost too quickly! The only reason ambience got 4 stars was because there were some very rowdy groups who were clearly having a good time and it was a bit loud. Definitely recommend."

  • "The food was, simply put, amazing. I had such an enjoyable meal with my girlfriend. The octopus was great and the saganaki was perfectly flamed, though the server neglected to yell "Opa!" I had to do it for him... For entrees the mousakka and the seafood Kritharoto were delicious; I highly recommend ordering those for anyone who likes good food. Portion size was also great. The only thing I didnt like about this restaurant was the waiter. He was pretty creepy and kind of just hung around the table watching us eat. He also rushed us and we were out of there in 45 minutes, which was pretty fast for a dinner date. The atmosphere was great but lacked traditional Greek music. All in all, a great place to dine. "

The one dish that did blow it out of the water and made the whole experience worth it was the octupus! It was so tender that it felt like it was melting in my mouth. "

  • "I took my daughter here for her birthday, having enjoyed a great meal recently my friend made a wedding there. The food did not disappoint. We shared a salad, a glass of wine (we were both going back to work ;-) and we each had the grilled scallops with mushrooms. They were delicious! One of the best I've ever eaten. The waitress was attentive, however, every time she poured me some water she almost hit me in the head. Came from behind and just put her arm across my face. We opted not to have coffee or dessert given that our time was limited. The bill for one salad, one glass of wine, and two entrees was $90. I think this is excessive for lunch; the menu should be adapted so that there are lunch specials and prices."

I had the lamb shank which was delicious this meat just fell off the bone and my husband had the rack of lamb -- also wonderful. The service was great. It was enjoyable being able to have a conversation at dinner -- the spacing between tables was perfect."

  • "Was a little nervous about trying this, all the reviews I could find were from a few years back when it first opened. Wasn't sure if it had started to fall off the radar. Pleasantly surprised by our dinner (4 ppl). Ordered 4 apps, waitress adeptly delivered them to the table at different times as the table was quite small. Service was professional but a bit cold, but that's likely how the typical customer likes their service in this neighbourhood. Mains were given positive reviews by all guests, loved my fishermans stew. Will definitely be back. Dining room was clean and fresh."

  • "My friends and I were looking forward to our meal, but sadly I was a bit disappointed. The ambience was great, by my appetizer of grilled calamari was a bit overdone (chewy) and under seasoned. It was just OK, which is not what I expected from this restaurant. I followed that with the Moussaka, which was luke warm and flavour again was OK. We didn't have our drink order taken for 20 minutes after sitting, and when I asked another server to get our table's server, he came back with the excuse that we were talking and our menus were open. At the end of the night when we were leaving, our server along with the hostess and another server were chatting and then the hostess told the two servers to "shhh" as we walked by. Talking about us?"

  • "I loved the ambiance. The decorations were unique and suggested a Greek island. Our server suggested that I try something that I hadn't had before (lamb in philo) and it was outstanding. They were aware we were going to a show afterwards, and timed the courses perfectly so that we weren't rushed but we were able to leave on time. I would definitely recommend Estiatorio VOLOS to all my friends!"

  • "Came here for our 4 year anniversary, we were greeted with congratulations and some sparkling drinks to celebrate. Megan (our waitress) took great care of us and was incredibly attentive, while providing excellent advice on what to order. Highly recommend, Dolmades and Saganaki and if you are a fan of seafood the Fisherman's Stew was delicious (use the bread to soak up the divine broth). Was an excellent spot for our celebration and will be coming back!"

  • "It was my best friend’s birthday lunch. My friend discovered the restaurant during Toronto’s Summerlicious. I ordered Saganaki Cheese and Grilled Moroccan Octopus as our appetizers. We both tried the Greek Beer, Volkan Santorini Blonde. My friend will look for the brand at the LCBO for home consumption. The cheese was flamed at the table (contrary to the lunch menu warning customers “no fire at lunch”, I noticed quite a few tables ordering it) and the Octopus was tender and tasty. My friend had the lamb (they cracked the bone so she could get at the marrow) and I had the chicken. The food was good and plated nicely. We’ll be back for our next special occasion."

  • "Haven't been to Volos for awhile, but unfortunately this experience was not great. Food and ambiance were the same - very good. However, the service was totally off. We were going to a show that evening - which they knew. But they tried to rush us along, in spite of asking not to, as they kept bringing out various courses before we had even finished the last. Seemed like the right hand didn't know what the left had was doing! We did complain about this and got an apology. Hopefully our experience will be better next time otherwise I may consider returning."

  • "The food was very good but the service was good up until I received the bill. The waitress had 2 extra martinis (4 instead of 2) and one extra 25$ scotch which immediately admitted making a mistake. I only want to think that was intentional. Our bill for 5 people was just under 1000$ Now I understand why the waitress was bringing deserts that we didn't t even order… and charged us for all those. And to top it off, when the manager (she is only manager there one day a week) came over to say check in on us, I asked if there were any complementary digestifs. She abnouxiously laughed and answered, "Is that a real question"… The food was great but that ending really ruined my experience at Volos."
