A word from Epic Roasthouse
The Main Dining Room features a stunning view of the bay from every table. For those who prefer al fresco dining our Inside Out Room is the perfect place for a romantic dinner or get together among friends next to the cozy fireplace. A custom-built wood fired grill and a large wood burning oven serve as the focal points of Kuleto's design for the restaurant.

The menu features an inventive combination of traditional and contemporary dishes, showcasing everything from fish to fowl, and specializing in a variety of meats and steaks. Handmade cocktails, domestic and imported beers, and a well-selected wine list complement the menu.

  • "The prefix brunch menu for $25.00 was a great bargain for 3 courses. We sat outside on the deck and enjoyed the views of the bay. Hopefully they takedown the large flat screen TVs throughout the restaurant when the World Cup is over. It was a little disconcerting sitting directly below one with everyone staring in yourdirectionwhenweate."

  • "It's an interesting venue, with huge ducts and other metalwork suggesting the building was once a factory (is this faked for ambiance?). Service excellent, and the food is wonderful, with creative use of ingredients. Lots of steaks, but also other offerings, with info on where/how the fish were caught! However, the main diningroom is huge, and between the loud background music (not live) and the people trying to converse over it, very very noisy."

  • "Menu is a bit limited, steaks mostly and sides a la carte, some seafood apps and salads. Not a single chicken dish or many vegetarian options, but it is a roast house so can't complain about the vegetarian part (would appreciate some chicken though...)! Dessert sounded great (doughnut holes) but was dry and disappointing. They totally screwed up our birthday special occasion table reservation, were friendly and tried to fix it, but still disappointed that even with a reservation weeks ahead via OpenTable and confirmed by our hotel concierge, it was botched. Great ambiance though and views of Bay Bridge Lights cannot be beat."

  • "We've heard great things about this place and have wanted to give it a try for a while now. As it happened, after we were seated, a party of 4--with one toddler and one infant were placed at the table next to us. In my opinion, this is not a "kid-friendly" sort of place that you would bring children of this age bracket to. 7 yr. olds and up as part of say a special occasion like a grandparents birthday, I get. Bringing young ones like this who are screaming incessantly for their sippie cups-not so much. If I am going to fork out $260+ for dinner for two, I don't want to feel like I have to endure screaming children who are then put upon the floor to roll around while dad decides its an iPhone moment..."

The steaks were terrific - some of the best we've ever had, and the suggested wines complemented them perfectly. The staff were excellent.   • "We took my dad out for a family celebration of his 80th birthday. We were given a beautiful table, and the staff was exceptionally friendly. Everybody came over to wish him a happy birthday, which made the evening all the more special. The food is top notch. The view is spectacular. I highly recommend Epic Roasthouse for special occasions. Also, I'd note that there were several Giants fans all decked out in their Giants gear who were enjoying a meal before walking down to the game. So, great place for a pre-game dinner, too!"

  • "This is the third time we have flown to SF to celebrate our wedding anniversary. With the amazing food, the consistently great service by our server, Dan and the fantastic view, what more do you need for a great evening out? The blue cheese topping on the Madeira sauce fillet was to die for! The sides we really enjoyed were the grilled broccolini and Julia Child's potatoes. We can't wait for our return!"

  • "Curb appeal, decor ambience were all there. Service was crisp and attentive on each level. The food was quite mediocre. The tuna tartare was sour and bitter without any liveliness. The limited span of menu choices forced each in our party to go with burgers; which arrived with dry stiff buns and way over-salted fries. The attempt at former ketchup also failed. Flat and starchy. Heinz would have been better. This place simply needs better execution on what should be solid menu winners"

  • "This was our second dinner at Epic. We enjoyed our first visit, and decided to celebrate our anniversary with a return. We were very disappointed with the food. My husband ordered the petit filet mignon. It was so dry that he had to ask for au jus on the side -- it looked completely unappetizing on his plate, too. I ordered the small prime rib. It was cooked the way I had requested; however, it was lacking flavor. Even the horseradish dip was bland. The Julia Child potatoes were greasy, as were the sauteed mushrooms -- we left most of each. I'm sorry to be so negative about such a lovely restaurant, but the cost of the meal warranted this criticism. For that high price, we expect and request better quality."

  • "We went there recently for their Mother's Day brunch (prix fixe, three course), and I have to say it was beyond what we expected. Some of us ordered the scallops appetizer, and I have never really like scallops, but after having it there I am now a fan. The main entrees we tried were the delmonico steak, wonderful smoky flavor, and burger made from Wagyu (beef), fresh and tasty. Even my twelve year old son was eating my steak, and he can be a little picky when it comes to the adult menu. The dessert course, some of us ordered their cheese cake, and the rest of us had their chocolate mousse parfait. We all had a great time, and a wonderful meal!! Thank you so much!"

  • "We had a late reservation (9:30 PM) on a Sunday, no less. It was my daughter's college graduation and we were running late. I called from the cab to let them know we were a bit late, and no worries. They let me know the kitchen would close, and all that....Anyway, we get there under the wire, and you would've never known. They treated us (10 top) like royalty. No hard feelings or excuses about how late it was...nothing. The staff was wonderful. I can't wait to try this wonderful place when they're aren't ready to close. Thanks Epic, which it was!"

  • "I've been meaning to try Epic Roasthouse and was so ecstatic when I saw it was participating on the Dine About Town Menu. We were seated outside with a spectacular view of the Bay and Bay Bridge. It was really nice weather for brunch so the setting was perfect, it was such a treat to have patio seating since it is such a rarity in the City. The Dine Abt Town menu consisted of brisket entree and arugula salad. The food was good, the presentation was nice, but it was not worth the prix fixe price of $19. My companion had ordered the crab eggs benedict and it was loaded with tons of crab meat. Again nothing to write home abt. The presentation to that dish was bland, I don't remember any thing else on the plate except for the food."

  • "My husband had the porterhouse steak and I had the prime rib. My husbands steak was so raw he couldn't even chew it he had to swallow it like an oyster. My prime rib, I asked for medium it came out medium well all around the edges and the inside was raw in the center. Then we had a side of broccolini which was seasoned so hot it was inedible. Our theory at restaurants is you vote with your feet. If the food wasn't good you just don't go back. It's also not helpful to return food back to a kitchen when you are hungry and don't want to wait even longer for the same bad food to come back out. I hate giving bad reviews, however sometimes constructive criticism is needed to improve the restaurant."

  • "We came to San Francisco to celebrate our 25th anniversary and chose Eic Roasthouse for the night of June 10th on our actual wedding date. We had the best table, best view, and best service: everything and everyone was outstanding! The wine they recommended was so good we ordered an extra bottle. We thouroughly enjoyed our epic meal for two, especially the two pound lobster. The steak was cooked perfectly and the sides were well-prepared. Our server was super attentive and made us feel very special. We couldn't have found any where in the world that would top this dinner experience on our special night!"

  • "The barbeque chicken was a sloppy mess being smothered with a sauce that tasted like it was from a salad dressing bottle, & sour cream. The Epic Roadhouse bread was good but difficult to enjoy because of the messy dressing. There was nothing about it that reminded me of barbeque. The steak tatare was not much better, roughly cut beef (not ground) that was chewy and bland. This is the worst version I have ever had. The loud kitchen staff talked back & forth for the better part of the meal. My dining companion was not excited about the special. The experience was nothing like my other visit several months ago."

And for prime rib ordered rare and a stuffed veal to be so overcooked and over priced is a double whammy of disappointment! I took quite a while making arrangements for this special occasion looking over location, time of dining with a Giants game taking place that day, available parking and menu. While the service was a bit of overkill, the salad was even an over-the-top creation using a very rich mascarpone cheese that didn't work well as a "dressing"??? The dessert menu was minimal and also very disappointing to be mostly small scoops of ice cream with a minimal, untasty webbed cone price at $10."
