The food quality was there, the front desk staff attentive but either due to summer vacations or hotel being full, but the service did not meet its regular level."

  • "This is the third time my husband and I have dined at Epic. It is a beautiful restaurant with tables set meticulously and formally. A great place for special occasions. Tables are well spaced so you do not hear others' conversation. Some waitstaff were very professional and others were a bit "lazy". We have had better service so not sure because it was a slow night that some of the waitstaff were talking when they should be more attentive to their customers. Food was delish and well presented as always. All in all we enjoyed our evening."

  • "We had the breakfast buffet and it was outstanding. You fill out a card and choose options for a made to order omelette and can also request pancakes and waffles from the chef. There are plenty of other options from fruit to oatmeal to tomatoes to mushrooms. The service was outstanding. Our coffee was constantly refilled."

  • "went for summerlicious dinner, was driving around the area to find a parking spot and then realized that they provide 3 hours free valet parking after i called them for advice. when i was about to sit down, i realized that my phone has left in the car and i was told that they will get it for me and brought it in to the restaurant. The food is so good, and the potion is great. Both me and my boyfriend couldn't finish it and other than the 3 courses on the menu, they even brought us a beef teriyaki to try in the beginning and some sweet treat after the dessert. For some reason, they didn't charge the coffee."

  • "Where do you take a visitor from England for lunch? I recently had this opportunity and decided as she was travelling into Toronto by train to go to the Royal York. The service throughout the entire hotel is always outstanding and I knew we could be comfortable in Epic. We enjoyed a delicious three-course Summerlicious menu and superb service. We were seated right away and were not rushed - spending nearly 3 hours catching up! This is a great place to relax while enjoying great food and great service in a classic hotel."

Food came out promptly after ordering and was delicious. Didn't expect so much food, even for a Summerlicious meal! Couldn't finish dessert because of it, but it was still a great experience."

  • "The service is great. My friend and I chose to go there and try their Summerlicious menu because the descriptions sounded very delicious. We ordered the salad and cooked veggies as appetizers. The appetizers were very plain, the plate settings were not appealing. The taste was okay, very normal ingredients, nothing special. Mains: we ordered the Wild mushroom ravioli and chicken. Both garnishes were the same (peas, mini wild mushrooms and some greens). The ravioli I had was not hot, only the plate was warm and the sauce was soupy - I was expecting some sort of thicker sauce. However, the ravioli filling tasted good. The chicken was bland tasting and mushy in texture. The desserts, flourless chocolate cake and Canadian tarts, were divine."

Started with a salad with Huckleberry seeds and candied walnuts (yummm...), then mushroom ravioli for the main and blueberry cheesecake for dessert, followed by cappuccino. The service was outstanding as well. It is still my favourite place for lunch in the financial district."

  • "I take clients and others to Epic because it is central (in the Royal York Hotel) and you can have a conversation without feeling you are going to be overheard and at the same time you are rarely specifically aware of conversations from other tables. The tables are spaced nicely. The food is amazing and has a great menu for meat lovers as well as vegetarians and fish lovers. It never disappoints. The wait staff have all been there for multiple years and really seem to enjoy their work. Very warm, very welcoming. I would highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "We enjoyed a lovely glass of wine on a Friday evening while being serenaded by a pianist and lovely female lounge singer. It was the perfect type of entertainment for the setting. Very classy. The next morning we enjoyed a breakfast buffet as part of our Groupon deal. The service was wonderful but had it not been included I would have considered it far too expensive for breakfast."

The best service I've ever had (the waiter called Jesus is the most thoughtful, kind, well mannered and lovely waiter of all times). I will be going back for the food, and will ask to be seated in Jesus section ;-) Definitely worth every penny, and certainly felt like Royalty while eating there!"

  • "My out of town guests were very impressed with the quality, flavor, and intricate plating of the food. Pan seared foie gras was especially exquisite. Lamb, prime beef and seafood were cooked to perfect temperature, and unlike other pretentious places with the same price range, food here were artistically plated with fancy vegetables and tasty starch. There were plentiful selection of wine by the glass, cocktails and mocktails so everyone could pick their own fancy. Most importantly, they remembered to bring a birthday plate to celebrate my cousin's birthday as I requested. Amazing team work there from the reception to the finesse of the dishes and service! I certainly will go back and especially for special occasion treats."

  • "The service was bad, At least not what you would expect from a restaurant located inside a hotel. The server didn't even ask if we wanted drinks, just started us off with water. Food took very long. Finished all the food and wanted the bill but he was no where to be seen. When he appeared at the table next to us, made eye contact but that was it, did not bother to come over and ask if we were finished or if we needed anything else. The food was okay, but not worth $45. Many better choices in this price range, some even in the $35 range. The atmosphere wasn't great either. Will not recommend."

  • "I came to Epic for lunch for Summerlicious. The food presentation was one of the most beautiful I had ever seen. I had the asparagus salad which was crisp and the vinagrette was nice and tart. The grilled lettuce was a little over cooked and had an unpleasant gray tone to it. The main course was Ravioli. There was an abundance of peas on top of the pasta which was all right, but the butter sauce took on the flavour of the peas and it was overwhelming. The dessert of maple tarts was delicious. The berries and sauce was a nice complement to the tart. I would go back for dessert for sure."

  • "Great place for a decent but not crazily expensive dinner. The cheesecake was a little too sour for me though, but the steak and the skate fish were made to beyond my expectation. Soup was great and service was good. I like their wine list as well. The only disappointment is the bread because we were here 2 years ago for summerlicious and the bread we had was warm, tastier and went well with the butter/magerine. This time the bread was not as good."

  • "We have been to Toronto and enjoyed some truly remarkable meals. But this time... we did not. Although they were attentive in bringing the flowers that I had delivered for her, the rest of the service and meal were no more than what one might expect of a typical "hotel" restaurant. We waited for ~15 minutes after being seated before anyone took a drink order, and we had to point the drinks out on the menu as the waiter did not speak enough English to understand our order. Then, after waiting for 20 minutes more and giving a few opportunities for "redemption", we had to inquire before they were retrieved from the bar and served. Appetizers - cold. Entrees - mediocre. Service - amateur. Skipped dessert. Our advice - go elsewhere."

  • "It is hard to review my recent dining experience. I am (was) a regular customer at Epic and usually give them 5 stars. I was treating some of my staff to lunch and was bragging about how excellent the service and food was. My recent experience however made me wonder if I will ever go back. It started with an extremely rude waiter then declined further when I received my lunch. I ordered risotto and scallops. The 3 scallops were excellent, but the risotto was awful, dry and not creamy or cheesy and I couldn't eat it. The only reason I gave 3 stars was that a new waiter took over and his service was excellent, also I wasn't charged for my lunch. my companions all enjoyed their meals, but not the service from the first rude waiter."
