A word from Enterprise Fish Co. - Santa Barbara
Just a few blocks from the waterfront, our restaurant in Santa Barbara operates in a century-old brick building originally home to an industrial linen service for seaside hotels. While the Douglas fir floors, soaring ceilings, and glassed cupola have always been features of this historic structure, the sweeping arches facing State Street were added after much of the building crumbled during the 1925 Santa Barbara earthquake.

Built in 1917, the historic building now home to our Santa Monica restaurant was once a transfer station for the narrow-gauge Red Car line, Los Angeles' first mass transit system. It was later the repair house for the world-famous Pacific Ocean Park, home to the oldest wooden roller coaster west of the Mississippi. These days, we're still a stone's throw from Venice Beach, heart of where L.A. goes to play -- and eat.

Diner Reviews
  • "Great seafood selections, deliciously prepared, reasonably priced in a lovely, lively restaurant conveniently located in downtown Santa Barbara with excellent staff who are friendly, attentive, and on-the-ball."

  • "I've been coming to the Enterprise my whole life, and it was a special joy to introduce my wife to it when we visited SB this weekend. We had delicious oysters, lobster, swordfish and salmon, all fresh, all beautifully prepared, and served in a friendly, lively atmosphere. It's a great hidden gem that's good for tourists and locals alike, located right downtown in the midst of everything."

  • "We go to Enterprise very often but Sunday was a disappointment. We have noticed that it gets uncomfortably warm when the restaurant is crowded...and it was. In addition, we ordered the ahi tuna which we had to send back. It was overcooked and rubbery....a first at Enterprise. Enterprise is one of our go-to places in Santa Barbara and we will return."

  • "We went to Enterprise because we were looking for a historical spot with seafood to meet friends up from the San Fernando Valley. What a great surprise! Gorgeous old building. Fun decor, very well done. We were there early and had a reservation so we were very happy with our table. Not all of the seating is desirable. Tables very close together, lively bar scene and a fairly high noise level. We were good because of the table we had away from the bar and in a window. We had the Ceviche, oysters on the half shell, swordfish, Cioppino and the Dover Sole. Everyone was more than happy with their food. The sole was perfect and the grilled vegetables excellent. We will go back."

  • "Enterprise offers the best value for seafood in Santa Barbara. I've heard that people rave about the happy hour appetizers and drinks here but only feel the food is only mediocre. I disagree. While the seafood is not fancy (don't expect heavy sauces or delicate preparation), it is fresh and reasonably priced. If you stick with the basics and appreciate simple, grilled seafood, then you will enjoy the food here. My favorites are the basa swai and swordfish, and you can never go wrong with the lobster or king crab. Also, you can't beat the weekday special of 2 lb. lobster for $32."

  • "The food was outstanding at this seafood restaurant. The appetizers and soup were completely delicious. And the entrees (swordfish and Dover sole) were exquisitely fresh and prepared with some serious skill. Loved it!"

  • "We went on a Friday night which was probably our mistake. We had reservations so we were seated immediately, fortunately. Getting into the restaurant through the bar crowd was difficult. We were seated with a view of the kitchen which my husband enjoyed as he is the cook in the family. Conversation was impossible because of the noise. I had the lobster bisque soup which was great! The rest of our meal was just so so. My risotto was gummy. The best part of the whole time we were there was the waitress-she was charming! There was no parking other than on the street about 3 blocks away. It was a difficult walk for my husband who has a bad back."

  • "We were traveling up the California central coast and I picked this place when we were in Santa Barbara because it seemed to have the more extensive seafood list when compared to some of the other waterfront restaurants. Enterprise did not disappoint. We were seated right away. Our food and wine was excellent. I had the halibut and it was the best seafood dish I had on our trip. The family was also impressed with their desserts."

  • "Was plenty packed, but that added to the ambience. Good menu for seafood lovers , but also had a number of entrees for non- fish eaters. My ciopino was as good as I've had. Servers did a good job of keeping up, even in a tough crowd."

  • "i'm no stranger to the term MARKET PRICE, but, when three people order the crab legs, a small portion i'll add, although it was very delicious, it was a little shocking to see that that slab of crab was $60, times 3. $180 for 3 orders of crab legs. the server was really rude and i suggested when an item is almost 3 times the price of any other menu item, it would be a nice gesture to warn the customer. but i was just told "well, you didn't ask so i didn't tell you. next time ask if you want to know" which was the most communication we had with him the entire night. i'll probably not return as i can spend $300 someplace that will appreciate the money more. this place didn't seem to care."

  • "We frequent and enjoy the Enterprise often and have for years. The setting by the window is so pleasant and the bar scene is vibrant. I love the crab Louie....the best I have had in the area. Our server was lovely and professional. At the end of this birthday lunch with my mom our server surprised me with an incredible mud pie desert complete with candle. Highly recommend this restaurant!!!"

  • "You can count on the food & service at Enterprise Fish Co. to be consistently very good. We arrived a few minutes late, but they were gracious & seated us right away. Service was friendly & prompt. The food was really good - our table ordered lobster bisque all around, popcorn shrimp, Shrimp Louie, a burger, tuna melt & grilled swordfish. Everyone was happy with their meal."

  • "There's no outdoor seating here, which was the only disappointment. Otherwise, the decor is very beachy/comfy, the servers are very professional, and the food was some of the best we've had in Santa Barbara (we had the Mahi-Mahi, Sea Bass & crab cakes.) Definitely looking forward to going back!"

  • "Loved the food, the lobster bisque so yummy! Will always come back for this! The grilled lobster tail was moist and delicately delicious, recommend both. The cola covered salmon was also delicious along with steamed broccoli."

  • "Fish was very fresh and the lobster special can be beat (2lb. live maine lobster $33) Service was excellent, place is a bit noisy due to the bar and eating area all together. Go for the food and you'll be satisfied otherwise skip."

  • "We had not been to the Enterprise for a couple of years, at least. Judging by this dinner, on Mothers' Day, it has dropped a lot in quality. The seabass was good, but not exceptional. I estimate that the portion was 3 ounces, at most! Likewise, my son was disappointed in the ahi--nothing special and a very small portion. The grilled vegetables were the best part of the meal, but we went there for the seafood! I will not return any time soon."

  • "I have eaten at Enterprise Fish Co. about 10 times in the last year. I have always been pleased with the quality of the food, the presentation and the service. The staff are friendly and capable. The dishes have excellent flavors and have always been cooked correctly. This is a great place to bring small groups of people. I take customers there regularly. I would not recommend bring more than 6 people because the space doesn't seem to work for larger numbers. Enterprise has a great feel and is a place I will continue to go back to for a long time."

  • "My partner chose this as a birthday celebration location. I was happy to make the reservation for ten very diverse friends due to my many past successful dinners at the Enterprise. The help & food were fantastic. I had many compliments from our guests about how upbeat & fun the occasion was."

  • "The employees are phenomenal. The food is fantastic, and the whole restaurant is decorated with everything seafood, and ocean oriented. Ask to sit by the aquariuml, and you can still check out a game on the televisions in bar area. This place is hopping, so making a reservation is a must. My husband has to travel to Santa Barbara every three weeks, and this is the restaurant we go to every time. The fresh homemade sourdough bread is wonderful."
