A word from Elliott's on Linden
When philosophy and action proceed hand-in-hand, something extraordinary happens: a guiding principle is formed.

For Chef/Owner Mark Elliott, that principle is to serve the best and freshest locally produced agrarian products to his guests. It's a principle that was formed in Mark's childhood, and as a young apprentice chef in Southeastern England. Mark would further develop a deep connection to the green grocer, the baker, the fish monger, the butcher, the cheesemaker. Daily sourcing for the kitchens provisions was a way of life.

From this restaurant's first days, Chef Elliott has forged relationships with regional farmers to obtain their produce, livestock and artisan products when they are at the peak of freshness.

Today, Chef Elliott continues to serve guests cuisine crafted from the fresh ingredients that the area's farmers have to offer. It's a principle we live with every plate we serve.

  • "We hadn't been to Elliot's in a while but it was the restaurant at which we had our first date years ago.Part of the restaurant has been converted into a bar w/a casual bistro environment which is great for after work drinks w/friends but not the classy dining experience we recalled from years past. Long gone are the linen table cloths & romantic ambiance. Now you see vinyl placemats & mason jar candles. The shrimp & grits luckily were just as great as always. The server did not go over specials until I asked for them. He didn't know what one of the fish specials tasted like & couldn't answer my questions. I went with salmon & it was terrific but my husbands elk dish left something to be desired. Casual atmosphere with fine dining prices."

  • "Local food well prepared and presented combined with an interesting diversity of menu items. Our waitress was perfect and added many nice touches beyond the standard one would expect. For example, my wife wanted to know the 7 spiices in a salmon appetizer and our waitress got them from the chef and gave us a nice written list."

  • "This restaurant was everything my friends said it was. Excellent food and service"

  • "Excellent, We didn't feel like lunch was dialed down from a dinner offering. Lunch was lunch and very good.... Great service, quiet atmosphere and a gormet food store attached. Recommend FS"

  • "Wonderful. Check for special events. When we were there the chef gave a demonstration butchering an organic pig from a nearby farm. Those who paid for the event had pork for dinner prepared expertly. This is a true farm to table restaurant! I look forward to going again and again. Highly recommended."

  • "When the restaurant has minimum people seated the service was punctual and on track, but when the dining rooms are full the check backs are less frequent. We sat for 15 minutes and had to flag down a different waitress to assist with us getting desert and our bill."

  • "Whenever we are in Pinehurst overnight, we make a point to eat at Elliott's. The always have the best, plank cooked salmon that I have ever eaten."

  • "Food was, as always, perfect. Our server, April, was excellent, overall an outstanding evening."

  • "Had lunch recently at Elliot's; my first visit there. Almost gave it 5 stars, but will save that for the second visit. Seafood and grits were fantastic; luscious, creamy and just enough spicyness. A little garnish / better presentation would have made it 5 stars. The ambiance is wonderful - upscale, comfortable, nicely decorated. Waitstaff was attentive, just needs a bit more training in describing the food (server was young and inexperience showed, but high marks for enthusiasm and courtesy). Crème Brulée was delicious - again, garnish was lacking (sliced green grapes? Thumbs down on that...) but texture and taste excellent. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "Was looking forward to a great Valentines, but wish we went elsewhere. Would not go back, host was rude and frazzled, dinner was alright...not worth the money. Would much rather have spent the evening and money elsewhere. Seating is right on top of one another, just not what I pictured it to be. Was hoping for better."

  • "We had a delightful birthday dinner for my husband. We had the MOST wonderful mushroom soup. We had a pear and stilton salad and the chopped salad. Both were excellent. Then we split a terrific pork chop and had a great chocolate and fruit tart. The food was great and our favorite waitress made the evening perfect."

  • "EOL has great atmosphere and the service was very good. You will spend small fortune at EOL. I had mac & cheese with truffle oil as a side for about $6 and it was not very good in my opinion. Crab cake was good and Chopped salad was very good. overall I think it's a good restaurant. I will try the bar menu next time I go to EOL"

  • "From the moment we walked in the door, the friendly greeting put everyone in a good mood. Our party of 5 were fortunate to be seated in "the coop", a private little quiet alcove. The service was outstanding, friendly, efficient & knowlegeable, the food was absolutely divine, we were allowed to choose our dinner from different parts of the menu, the kitchen prepared some beautiful dishes, one vegan, one dinner was a salad and appetizer which was quite ample for dinner, not only is the food totally wonderful, the dishes (bowls, plates, etc.) are lovely also. Can't think of one negative comment to put on here, and too many compliments to put into this small amount of space. The Wine/ Brew list is extensive, desserts & coffee were great."

  • "The Cowboy Skillet is a terrific dish. I understand started last year as a seasonal dish and now found its was as a permanent item in the dinner menu. It's my favorite. Mash Potatoes and Beef in a skillet, deliciously season with a nice steak sauce and onions. Perhaps basic, but it hits the spot for me. THe remodeled bar has lift up the ambiance, this is a comfortable seating arrangement for the regulars. The atrium/windows area might need a fresh look. However, this is a comfortable restaurant, fancy enough and casual enough. Great find."

  • "Great restraint, great food...a little on the pricey side to make it a regular occasion but great for those nice evenings with a group or family occasion. Will definitely go back. Food choices are unique and unlike your common restaurants, makes the visit all that much better."

  • "Elliott's has never failed yet. I've been there 5 or 6 times and have never been disappointed. I had the strip steak which was cooked perfectly to my taste. My husband had the duck which has now become a favorite of his And the special salad was unusual and delicious -- romaine lettuce with fried green tomatoes and corn salsa and a lovely dressing I can't put my finger on. Always a pleasure to dine at Elliott's."

  • "Found this restaurant by accident while staying in Pinehurst last week. Food was good and well presented. The service was a little slow but in all fairness, there was a company function going on that night which also made it a little noisy. Will definitely go back on my next trip. Pricing was higher than our dinner at the Carolina Hotel."

  • "Back in town again and had to visit Elliott's on Linden. Always finding interesting cocktails on the menu, eclectic appetizers, and new menu items mixed in with old favorites. Fresh is the word on the veggies as nothing "out of season" finds it's way on the menu. The puree of root vegetables was incredible as was the pork chop with sweet potato croquettes!!"

  • "Love the local food choices. Also the options of bison, elk, duck, and Scottish Salmon. Mandy was the BEST waitress! We had fun and a delicious meal. Chef/owner Elliott came out to check on us and made homemade herb cheese biscuits to compliment our meals. Highly recommend."

  • "We enjoyed a dinner for two in The Roost. The food, drinks, service, and atmosphere were excellent. We especially appreciate the friendly and knowledgeable staff, plus the amiable and expert Chef. Although we miss the original (small) bar, the new one is well conceived and comfortable even with larger groups and a crowd at the new bar. Wine-by-the-glass system is outstanding!"

  • "We only dined at Elliott's on Linden once, so I cannot be sure if this experience is common, but the food is only average at best, and the service was exceptionally slow."

  • "We had some very picky friends from California with us on our visit and they were wowed with the service and creativeness of the food. The wine list was excellent and our server April made some great suggestions on wines were not familiar with. The Scottish salmon served on a cedar plank was flavorful and prepared to perfect doneness. The lamb was superb. This is a must place to dine when in Pinehurst. If you go early while the connecting stores are open you will find interesting kitchen doo dads and a specialty wine, cheese and meat counter."

  • "This is probably the best regional restaurant for true lovers of gourmet chefs. The restaurant has a distinct country charm and is filled with people who are having a wonderful time but is not too loud due to a clever seating arrangement. I live about 50 miles which keeps me from eating there weekly. Do make a reservation, this restaurant is very popular with the greater Pinhurst crowd. Incidently, they catered my daughter's wedding to rave reviews by all in attendance. Don't miss out on this wonderful experience."

  • "A year apart - but 2nd visit was as good as first - very pleased with food - service could have been better, but we shared server with table of 12 (it happens). My partner had the filet. It came with plenty of differing wild mushrooms/pearl onions and was cooked to my partner's wishes. I had a sauteed flounder with crab stuffing which arrived in a steamed baby butternut squash - a new and different presentation and flavors melded well. As an appetizer we had shared a bowl of mussels in a tomato bacon broth - well this is the South. It was also excellent."
