We ate early on a Thursday. We shared the spectacular view with 2 other diners. The service was outstanding. The food just as good. The 2 standouts of the evening were the hamachi and creamed corn. I had the short ribs which were very good. My sister had the seafood special. It was also very good. Dessert was good not excellent. We split the panna cota. Overall I would rate this a 10!

Celebrated our 15 year Anniversary, table on terrace at sunset very romantic. Service and food was excellent, wine selection went well with filet and sauce that was so tender and juicy. We will be back again and recommend to others. It was so quiet even with guests at every table. Clear sky with twilight stars after a glowing sunset. The service was 5 star!!!!

This was our second time, outstanding meal. We were a bit disappointed with the service, with my husband having asked on 2 separate instances for a drink with dinner, neither of which came. The waiter deducted $10 off the meal, but a glass of wine with dinner would have been nicer...

My husband and I dined here for dinner for the first time while visiting Santa Barbara. It was wonderful in all aspects. The wait staff did such a fantastic job that we would definitely go back. The food was delicious and very elegantly plated. How much better could it be than dining while looking out at the ocean and watching the sun set. A bit pricey, but the whole experience was definitely well worth it!!

El Encanto is tucked into a residential area which makes it a little hard to find the first time but worth the effort. It is an elegant spot. The dining terrace has a majestic ocean view. Our waiters were attentive (although once it got crowded this changed a bit). The food was terrific from the heirloom tomato salad to the local fish specials to the beautiful and delicious floating island and spicy molten chocolate cake with salted caramel ice cream. We will definitely return.

I have been in this place several times now. Lunch and dinner and just for drinks. The wine list is good. The food on the menu looks good, but, not tasty at all. Seared tuna salad is very plain..so is risotto. There is room for improvement and I hope it will be done soon so I can come back and enjoy beautiful space...

We have been a few time to El Encanto. The food is alway good. The atmosphere and view is gorgeous. Our waiter was very nice and we have had him before. He was very busy and very thing seemed to take a lot of time. We had to catch him to order wine after our meal was already served. We brought friends with us that own a resturant in Palm Springs. We thought that they would be impressed but I am afraid that they were not. They were cold and the meal was half way over before we could get a heater over to them. We were disappointed and I hope that it was just a bad night for the resturant.

Beautiful restaurant behind the Mission overlooking Santa Barbara and the ocean. Hidden gem attached to gorgeous resort in the hills. Ambiance and service was friendly, relaxing and peaceful on the terrace - not stuffy! Ample menu with good selections- loved the included sides! Not overly expensive considering the amount and quality of food. Would definitely recommend - particularly for special or romantic occasions.

The food was wonderful. The view and atmosphere were outstanding and romantic. Unfortunately, this time (it wasn't our first time, but first under what appears to be new ownership?) service was horribly slow. Poor communication between wait staff. For example, our order wasn't taken for at least 30+ minutes, wine ordered to be paired with one of the courses never came, after our appetizer our entire table was cleared thinking we were done (down to even the salt and pepper shakers), main course finally came and we had no silverware and had to flag someone down to finally get it. We have been here numerous times before, but this was an entirely different experience and hope they can get their act together for better service like before.

My sister recommended this restaurant. My husband & I dined on the terrace (you have to call them directly to request) it was one of the best dining experiences we've had! We dine at a lot of fine restaurants and this place tops our list! I had the rack of lamb cooked medium rare and it was perfect! My husband had the cedar plank salmon and said it was the best fish he has ever had. Our waiter was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. The guy who brought out our food was really into the presentation and everyone from the valet to the hostess to the manager stopping by, were very friendly. Oh and save room for dessert!! We had the chocolate cake AND the donuts! They were both wonderful!

I was brought here to celebrate my birthday. Aesthetically it is hard to beat but the service wasn't as attractive. I stayed at the hotel and had not one but two occasions to dine in the El Encanto Dining Room. Sadly, both times service was very slow - first during lunch with a limited waiting staff and lastly during dinner (not sure of the exact hold up) where I waited an hour for my entree which was salty and barely warm. I was offered a complimentary dessert to make things better but couldn't fathom an additional wait. Everyone has good and bad days to be sure but I certainly expected more from a luxury hotel dining room. Not to mention it didn't make for the happiest of birthday celebrations.

The hotel is fabulous and the dining also met the expectations. Food was tasty, steak was cooked to perfection. Nothing shocking on the menu, pretty regular, but high-end, fare. El Encanto is still trying to find its place... The Brunch is over priced and the idea of FAMILY Platter to start off the Brunch is not an good idea, No one at our table liked what was offered on the platter. The El Encanto is located at the top of the Santa Barbara hills, so the view is amazing. We sat on the patio and could see all the way to the Channel Islands. The only thing better than the view was the food. Starters: crab cake and hamachi sashimi. Both beautifully presented and delicious. Next: tomato and burrata salad. Also great. For entrees, I had the juicy and flavorful bone-in rib eye and my wife had the filet. Mine was so tender I barely needed my knife. The sides were equally amazing: creamed jalapeno corn, mashed potatoes, and mushrooms. Dessert: creme brulee and chocolate cake. Good, but nothing out of the ordinary. Better were the treats they brought as an anniversary gift: macaroons, choc. strawberries, choc. bark, etc.

The restaurant is beautifully appointed with a wonderful view of Santa Barbara and the ocean The menu was eclectic with something any foodie would enjoy. Not inexpensive but worth the price. The service was very pleasant but the kitchen was a bit overwhelmed so our entrees took a long time to arrive. But we were treated to a glass of wine for each of the four of us, and the evening was so lovely, it really wasn't a problem.

3 of us had the American Bento lunch and we all agreed it was delicious. The steak was perfectly medium rare (as we had requested), and the two salads tasty. The box even included dessert. We had a wonderful evening at the Dining Room at El Encanto. We were looking for something a little different to wrap up our trip to Santa Barbara, and the Dining Room at El Encanto did not disappoint. The view and the ambiance were very unique and a must for anyone looking for a special occasion restaurant or a special showcase of Santa Barbara.

The restaurant was almost perfect except for the service. It took forever to take our drink orders. We were a party of six and when our main coarses were brought out one was missing and the order was never turned in. By the time we slowly finished our food and our plates were taken away our female guest finally got hers. It really didn't seem to matter to the staff. Don't know which staff member it was came by apologized with a bad joke as we all watched our guest finish her food. They should have offered her a dessert on the house or something, but nothing. Also, one of our waiters had a runny nose.
