Our friend had 3 mini crab cakes and a nice remoulade sauce, which she enjoyed. We all ordered the trout entree. FABULOUS! A generous trout fillet, juicy, moist, cooked just perfectly, covered in a crumb dredging. Next time I go, I'm ordering the trout again! Dessert was very good also. We each had a different one. This restaurant really understands the Savor Sarasota concept. Their menu, designed to appeal to new as well as established customers, showcased their cooking, and offered a good selection. We ordered from the Savor Sarasota menu which included first and second courses plus dessert. The portion sizes were perfect for a 3 course meal. Service was excellent and the food was perfectly prepared. Crab cake appetizer was very tasty and mostly crab. Shrimp scampi was served over linguine with a wonderful garlic flavor. Bread pudding for dessert. Enough said, it was heavenly. Menu choices are limited but fine. The crab cakes and coconut shrimp are above average. My wife's filet was perfect. I had the trout which was cooked to perfection. We had Aaron and Caitlin assisting our table. They are very competent and attentive. Even the bus boy was very helpful.
Oddly, the manager never stopped by our table to check on our meals or service. I've been to Duval's a good number of times and have always been ignored by the manager. Not sure why they have someone so impersonal in that position. Sad to hear Chef Wes is no longer there.

Our server came over and welcomed us and took our drink order. We found the menu to be quite good and when I saw Gumbo on the menu I had to have it. It did not disappoint. I have to say this is one of the best restaurants in Sarasota and the prices are not out of line for what you get. The food was fresh and very tasty. In addition to the outstanding food the decor was very nice, the service admirable and when the manager came over and spent some time with us I was impressed with his knowledge of the site, the availability of various seafood items and overall caring about our experience. My bottomless Mimosa was never empty! :) We have lived in Sarasota for close to 20 years and have yet to find a nice, affordable Sunday brunch. I personally like this restaurant. The wine list is fine. My Bordeaux was good. The foods were fresh and taste great. Others in our party were more critical of the foods. They said it is too salty.
Services were very good. This is a good restaurant even if it is a bit pricey for the location. Parking is a bit difficult. A couple who looking for a romantic dinner might be better off somewhere else but I enjoyed my dinner.

I am not normally a big seafood eater but the stuffed lobster tail was incredible. My wife and mother-in-law both had the stuffed salmon and they both said it was awesome as well. The crab stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer were perfect as well. The wine list was impressive and both types ordered were great. Always good to take a local's input and the suggestion paid off well. Service was great and food even better. Followed that with swordfish special...they served a huge portion of the tenderloin, which is the best cut of that fish. Prepared and seasoned perfectly. Two hadn't been to Duval's before and they highly complimented their lunch selection - far more enthusiastic comments than ever before. (The other two who chose Duval's were obviously returnees.) The menu is eclectic - everyone can find something they love and all I've tried have a special twist.

has been excellent in every way. Our unfortunate experience on New Years was certainly
not typical of what Wes Duval and his staff are accomplishing here.
His Onion soup is as good as any restaurants in OUR COUNTRY, and the po boys are a nice
inexpensive sandwich that does not scimp on the fillings. His dinners are good values
and show attention to detail and the freshness of the ingredients.

The restaurant noise is "energetic", at the least, and it is difficult to have a conversation with your companion with the extraneous noise. I had their scallops Rockefeller with fried oysters on top, which were delicious, and my husband had the halibut special, which he liked very much. Mashed potatoes are a favorite of mine, and theirs are interestingly green and surprisingly good. Both meals were served with a melange of sauteed veggies--red and green peppers, onions, my kind of vegetables. We decided to share dessert, and chose their apple tart, served with a swirly mound of whipped cream--it was excellent! Our server, Sam, was knowledgeable, attentive and friendly. We had a reservation and upon arrival, we were shown to our seat and Katlyn was there immediately to ensure we were seated properly and to say that she would be taking care of us. After ensuring we were settled with a glass of wine, she told us of the specials and how they were prepared. I chose the 3-Tail fish which I had never heard of but Katlyn assured me it was a wonderful fish and my husband chose the Salmon. We shared our plates and enjoyed each equally. The servings were perfect sized. Then don't forget the bread pudding.
