  • "Great food. Great service. Honored our request for a special seating making our celebration special."

  • "We've dined here numerous times. The food is always excellent. Service has always been excellent, too. However this trip our waitress seemed to be a little slow and distracted. We dined there on a Sunday evening and they were not busy at the time."

  • "My husband and I took our Sister-in-law to Don's Pomeroy House for dinner in celebration of her birthday. We enjoyed a delightful evening at Don's! We all chose different fish dishes and all were excellent: nicely seasoned, beautifully presented, served at just the right temperature and cooked to perfection. Our server was excellent: pleasant, informative and attentive. For dessert we were served a chocolate eclair adorned with a birthday candle to celebrate the "Birthday Girl". It was scrumptious! We took time to enjoy pleasant conversation while enjoying coffee and tea at our table by the warm and inviting fireplace... A perfect evening."

  • "We had RSVP the previous week-end for a gathering and had to cancel due to the spring snow we received by surprise…we live over and hour out of time and we were very disappointed. They were very kind about our reschedule and remembered when we came in the following week-end! Wonderful service and fabulous food! I would recommend to anyone needing a really different place to dine."

  • "I wish I had more time to write an extended review, but here are some high points: The food is consistently amazing. My husband and I generally order the same thing each visit because the dishes are so incredible. He doesn't eat meat and loves the veggie pasta. I've never had better scallops than at Don's, and the chocolate mousse is decadent! We've had the good fortune to have Laua for our server during out last two visits and she's wonderful - so genuine and you can tell she really does want her customers to have a great experience. I love that she's not 'stuffy' as some wait staff can be at higher-end restaurants. We will be back whenever possible!"

  • "Received charge for exceptions on meal. There was a charge of $8, from what the waitress says, because I ordered my salad without onions. Which is quite ridiculous, since my husband altered his side meal and wasn't charged. I'm afraid we were charged for something unnecessarily...!!!!"

  • "I live in Strongsville and feel we are very fortuante to have such a fine establishment in our city. The Pomeroy House is my favorite, I just love dining in the library, if you want casual then the Pub is there also with either menu and the patios in the summer. Would recomment for either beef of seafood always a wonderful dinner . The servers are very attentive and friendly. Best martinis anywhere. I They make special occasions even more 'Special""

  • "You know what you are getting at Don's. Best if you prefer good seafood. Priced how one would expect for a fine dining experience. Very friendly staff and the 'special occasion' éclair is always a nice perk. Hard to stay away, but we only visit during those special occasions as $100 for dinner for two (one salad, one soup, two entrees, no alcohol, includes tip) is just too much in my eyes."

  • "Had the surf and turf. Steak was great. Lobster just so-so. A little underdone. Also had the wasabi deviled eggs which were very good. Dessert was not great. Cheesecake tasted old. Apple pie was average. Pleasant service. Good wine list. Will return."

  • "Our group had a variety of steak items from the menu including the "surf and turf" which was excellent, the "chaucer?" steak which was also excellent, and a strip steak which was very good. The house dinner rolls were excellent with a great combination of soft and chewy with an outer crunchy crust that was hot from the oven. The one thing that could be improved upon were the jo-jo potatoes which had a wonderful crispy crust but appeared to be without seasoning. As this was a special occasion for our group we also had a wonderful eclair that was enormous and would easily provide desert to 5 or 6 people. Our server was attentive and informative. Overall a wonderful outing."

  • "Food that was comforting and delicious was the cure for beating the Winter blues at Don Pomeroy's during a recent visit. The short ribs with mashed potatoes were delicious as always and just what I had a taste for. My husband had baked cod, a feature of the day, served over a bed of brussel sprouts with sautéed bacon, which he thoroughly enjoyed also. We shared our favorite dessert there, bread pudding with a bourbon sauce, a perfect ending to a delicious meal. Our server was very attentive and to my surprise even remembered how I prefer my salad. We're looking forward to our next visit ."

  • "Love the food and quiet understated elegance of Don's Pomeroy. I often take family and friends there for special occasions and have never been dissapointed. Just visited for my girlfriends birthday and it was as outstanding as ever. Best for Romantic dining or special occasions. A bit pricey for kids or large outings I would think."

  • "My wife and I were visiting from Pittsburgh and found Don's Pomeroy House on the internet. It was close to our hotel, so we gave it a try. We are very glad we did!! Very extensive wine list and the waitress knew about the wines that were offered. She recommended two, and we tried both and loved them. The atmosphere was great for a date night, with beautiful architecture and nice private booths. If you like to dine at a table rather than a booth, there were plenty of those too. There were parties there of 6 or more, and some as few as two. The food was outstanding!! I highly recommend the Chilean Sea Bass!! Overall after drinks, dinner, and tip, we spent around $150, so it's certainly not cheap. However, we thought it was worth every penny."

  • "everything about this restaurant was good, except the pricing was a bit high.I would recommend that the restaurant bring back the fixed course meal which includes an entree salad and dessert for a fixed price.if you can keep the cost of a meal including one drink under $40, I think you'll bring in more customers."

  • "Valentine's dinner at Don's should be special, and in most ways, it was. The food here is outstanding as always. We both had excellent fish dinners. The server was cooperative in substituting in order to accommodate my wife's dietary needs. Jeri was quick to accommodate--almost too quick throughout the meal. When my wife asked about food preparation, Jeri darted to the kitchen without hearing other questions. We found out about available dinner specials only by listening to the server at the next table--after we had ordered. Jeri was intent on being efficient, which she was, but there was little warmth. When my wife asked if there was sorbet, the server said yes, and then asked what I would have. I had to request a dessert menu."

  • "After living in the area my whole life I finally made it to Don's Pomroy House. It's a nice quiet, dimly lit dining room. Perfect for our anniversary dinner. It's a little expensive, but the food is fantastic and as long as you know going in the cost, it's worth it! And they do have specials, like when we were there the Surf and Turf was $10 off, making it only about 32 dollars which is a deal!"

  • "Went to Don's for my fiance's birthday and Valentine's Day. Our waiter was phenomenal. Personable with a sense of humor without being overbearing. I am not a wine drinker, he asked us about our likes and dislikes in tastes and other drinks and was able to recommend an excellent wine to go with dinner. He was able to recommend a great steak and lobster dish, salad choice and even a desert for her special day. The food came out excellent. Great taste, perfect temperature. Overall a great date restaurant."

  • "Never had a bad meal. Food is always good. It is on the expensive side but you will never leave hungry. We made reservations and did not have to wait for a table even though it was Valentine's Day."

  • "I have visited Don's Pomeroy House twice for lunch with friends. I enjoyed the experience each time. When I last visited in December, 2013, I decided it was the perfect place to celebrate Valentine's Day. I was righ! I made the reservation in late December and looked forward to the occasion. Even though the restaurant was crowded we were taken to our table almost immediately and attentive staff members began to immediately see to our every need. The staff was knowledgeable, knew what we needed even before we did and worked quietly and capably. It was well worth the trip from the far east side!"

  • "We recently celebrated our 40th anniversary there with a quiet table for 2 nestled in a nook of the library room. The room is quite large and was filled with diners. We each commented on how quiet it was, in spite of the crowd. It was so nice to be able to speak in a conversational tone and hear everything. The room was beautifully appointed, the staff very attentive but not to the point of overkill. The food was excellent and arrived in the perfect amount of time. We also celebrated our 39th there and hope to enjoy many more. It may be a new tradition for us."

  • "The restaurant was nice, the service was great. The food was well prepared but lacked seasoning and flavor. So for an expensive meal the food was kind of bland."

  • "I started with the "bacon" appetizer which was pork belly. It had a nice crispy skin and was served with a properly cooked risotto and drizzled with a jus that complimented the dish nicely. a freshly baked bread was served afterward. It was hot and had a great crispy crust. I had the chilean sea bass entree. It was accompanied by a crab cake green beans and sprinkled with some mushrooms. The sea bass was thick andpiece perfectly cooked with a crisp one one side and a moist tender cook throughout. The crab cake was surprisingly tasty considering it was an accompaniment. I really enjoyed it. The green beans were done just right as well. Service was professional with just the right timing. An enjoyable meal worthy of being called fine dining"

  • "Appetizers great, dessert great, service outstanding. My $50 lobster tail was tasteless. Almost like it had been sitting in water too long or was over cooked. Waitress did nothing about it but say sorry and she would tell the chef. Most restaurants will bring a manager out or give a free dessert or something. She just said sorry and that was it. I didn't expect anything for free just would have thought they would've paid a little more attention to how things are running in the restaurant. I haven't been to this restaurant in sometime and now I remember why, the food was overrated and not that great but I give it a second chance."
