  • "As always...more than excellent...great and big variety of food and wonderful service"

  • "we asked for and got a quiet table so the conversations were not a bother. Food and selection, as always, was excellent and our server was very helpful. Reservation was honored on-time and the overall experience was well worth the price"

  • "We used to go to Dizz's As Is years ago and always had an excellent meal, but had not been there for some time. Our party of four decided to return to an old favorite. First of all the service was excellent, but that's where the good dining experience ended. Two of us ordered the "special" , Sea Bass. Salads were brought out first and they appeared to be greens tossed on a plate from a supermarket salad greens bag with watery tasting dressing and a couple canned tangerine slices on top. Then the "special" was served and it smelled fishy and had a "dirty sock" taste. I feel that the "special" was probably old "leftovers" they were dumping. The vegetables were also awful. The wine list also left a lot to be desired."

  • "We love this small, local restaurant. It is our place to enjoy friends and food during the tourist season as it is a bit removed from the hustle, bustle and insanity of the Laguna Village during the warm months."

  • "I was very disspaointed with the experience. We had an aloof waitress who liked to pick her head as we asked her questions. Did not seem to know the menu. Ordered the salad which was tastless. Sent it back for a safe bet (Ceaser Salad) but again was dissapointed. We asked to be moved from the bar area due to the noise. The host was the highlight of the night...very friendly. My wife ordered the surf and turn and I ordered the filet mignon. The shrimp was completely bland and the only taste was paprika. There was a bornw sauce on the filets. Way too salty and overwhelmed the taste of the meat. By the time it came for dessert, we opted to go somewhere else. Very dissapointed. We have been here before (10 years ago) but will not go again."

  • "This is my favorite restaurant in Laguna Beach. We've been going there for over 30 years now, and the food has uniformly been very good. Service is always good, and it's usually fairly quiet. I like the fact that you receive an entire meal there (pate and bread; soup or salad; entree (which includes a starch and vegetables) -- unlike so many restaurants that make you purchase each part of the meal separately. For this reason, I think the price of the meals is reasonable. Love the cornish hen and berry pie for dessert. We will definitely continue to return over and over."

  • "I know this is a Laguna Beach institution and it is great if portion size is important. Atmosphere is like having dinner at your great grandmother's house. Food is mediocre at best. There is no fine touch in the kitchen. The bar is fun and great for locals. I'm not sure that other than a drink I would recommend this place for anything."

  • "Large portion of oversalted , overcooked filet mignon. Very expensive for a restaurant of this calliber. Even the creme brule was eggy and not smooth enough. There was no presantation of the food on the plate. We will not be back!"

  • "Dizz's As Is has a special flair all to itself…masterfully cooked meals served homestyle in what actually is like a old house makes for a memorable night. The tables are kind of packed in but no worries…everything is perfect."

  • "As soon as I stepped inside this very noisy restaurant to celebrate Valentine's with my honey, I knew I would not be happy. Fortunately, on Open Table, I requested a quiet, romantic table. So the Host offered me a table outside and I couldn't have been happier. With the fire pit & heat lamps, I was very comfortable on a cool night. We waited a long time for our first drink and the service didn't get a lot better from there. The waiter was really nice, but he had way too many tables outside. We spent three hours there for dinner and not by choice. Fortunately, we enjoyed sitting by the fire. Inside I would have been miserable that long. The food was good, but not outstanding... which, for the price ($100+ for two), it should have been!"

  • "Six of us had dinner on Friday night. I brought a magnum of wine which they served (waived corkage fee). Awesome Veal Marsala! Everyone enjoyed their meals. Our waiter, Dante, even provided a strawberry desert with a candle on it. This is one of my favorite places in Laguna Beach area and has a terrific, but small, bar."

  • "We have been to this restaurant many times over the years and it never fails to impress with consistent great service and food. We just love the vermouth and pate served while perusing the menu. Another wonderful meal and great service on Saturday night for my wife's birthday."

  • "Visited Dizz's for the first time at the recommendation of a friend. We live in the area and drive by its location frequently. Never noticed it, on Pacific Coast Highway, in an old converted house. It's been in that location over 25 years, it turns out. It's appropriately funky, with a cool elevated patio that has seating for perhaps 20 (a guess). It would be a neat little gathering place for a group 8 or 10 for a glass of wine. The interior is pleasant and has something of a European vibe to me. There is no view as it is on the east side of the Highway, but that didn't bother us at all. Food was good (a little heavy on the salt), wine prices reasonable. All in all, a very good experience. Would definitely return."

  • "Dined here after a recommendation from the concierge at a San Francisco hotel. We've frequented Laguna Beach over the years but never knew about this gem. Varied menu, good wine list and full bar - all the components for a perfect evening. It's a bit of a drive from our home but worth the adventure. Parking can be the only issue."

  • "We had a wonderful dinner for five - they had our table ready upon arrival; offered a complimentary vermouth and an appetizer of pate .. they brought a little soda/grenadine "cocktail" for our one young diner which was thoughtful. A couple of us tried the special, yellowtail with curry. The rest ordered duck a l'orange and osso bucco - we all loved our food! Kudos to the host for noticing that our twelve yr old was starting to feel "under the weather". Without a word, the host appeared with a ginger ale and told our son that a few drops of (non-alcoholic) Bitters would do the trick. After drinking it, our son bounced back - thank you Dizz's for a wonderful evening and especially for being so attentive with our son. Very nice!"

  • "I have dined here before and it was very good, however this time the service was poor we waited way too long for salads; then 2nd course was a longer wait. Don't think we will be dining here anymore."

  • "We used to go to Dizz's all the time when we lived in Laguna back in the late 80s. We just had the chance to return and are happy to report that nothing has changed - and that is a great thing! The ambiance at Dizz's is laid back and eclectic - like Laguna used to be 20 years ago before it gentrified and got all snooty. Although Dizz's is not cheap, all meals include an aperitif, pate and soup or salad (the caesar is divine). I ordered the Chinese Prawns over Linguine and Pesto and it remains a fantastic dish - the shrimp are huge and taste more like lobster than shrimp. Yum! Cocktails were generous and the wine list is lovely. They don't rush you and the service is wonderful. If you like a lovely, intimate dining experience, go!"
