DeuxaveFine dining for a special night outThis is a top notch place for an evening of fine dining. All of the food we tried was prepared just right and tasted out of this world good. Highly recommend getting the duck fat fries with any entree, they might be the best that I've ever tried. The restaurant itself is very classy inside and out, the waitstaff were attentive, but not overwhelming, and the overall ambiance was quite nice - excellent for conversation. If you are up in the air about a restaurant for a special occasion, have no reservations about Deuxave.6/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWe sat at a table by the windowWe sat at a table by the window and had wonderful view of Commonwealth Avenue. The was delicious and the presentation was beautiful. I particularly enjoyed their presentation of carrot cake for desert. It was imaginative and very tasty.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic find!We had a terrific dinner- food, service, ambiance, everything was absolutely perfect. The best dinner we have had in Boston actually. At the conclusion, we were already talking about coming back.
But one thing was bothersome. We had been given a gift card for the dinner and when the bill came, we had guessed pretty accurately that the dinner and gratuity were almost perfectly equal to the amount on the gift card. But when our server came back, she said we had a balance on the gift card since the gratuity could not be put on it. She said that this was so we would have to come back to spend the balance. A small thing, since the whole evening had been wonderful, but this left a bit of a sour taste. And has never happened to us before.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic, pricey, but wellFantastic, pricey, but well worth it. Great for a special dinner. Will return any time we are in Boston.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Service and FoodThe wait staff was very helpful in describing all offerings and exicted to be working at Deuxave.
The duck breast was the best I have ever eaten. The strawberry, white chocolage ice cream was equally wonderful.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGood DinnerDeuxave got high marks so decided to give it a try. There was one review that I read before making the reservation that stuck in my head about a Server that was so over the top and pretentious that he ruined a couple’s dinner. He claimed to have tasted 80% of the wines on their rather large wine list and came off as over bearing. Just out luck that he happened to be our Server as well. I can say that the reviewer was on point! My girlfriend took an instant dislike to him and I tolerated him. As for the food, it was very good, not great. The Foie Gras and the Halibut were the standouts. The Beet salad was average and my Duck was good, not memorable. Sides of Risotto, Mushrooms and the Desserts were fantastic.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMA great find in Back BayInteresting food choices, excellently prepared, and knowledgeable, friendly service. Can't wait to return!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMFood and service were spectacular. It was my first visit to Deuxave and will definitely return on my next trip to Boston. The wine list was excellent and the service was attentive without being intrusive. I had salmon two ways for a first course complemented by a Peter MIchael chardonnay and the duck breast for the main paired with a Chateaux Rayas. The food was fresh and creative. The presentations were flawless. Bravo!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMI took my parents here forI took my parents here for a graduation celebration dinner and everyone found something they liked. It was a bit noisy for them since we were seated next to a table of ladies who were putting back a fair amount of alcohol but it was still nice. I think what really made the place great was the service - both of my parents forgot their reading glasses and couldn't read the menu but the waiter brought them both their own pairs to borrow!6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMLove the foodThe food seems well prepared - delicious and fresh.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Night OutIf you are looking for a very good restaurant, with a modern elegant dining room in an upscale neighborhood, serving excellent food by a friendly helpful wait staff, you have found the right place to go. Priced at the higher end, it is a great choice for a special occasion or business dinner. It also draws a neighborhood crowd of which I am one. I had not been for a while, and thought to go when recently having dinner with an old friend. It was exactly the right choice. My only complaint was the portions were a little large, but it did not stop me from eating every delicious morsel on my plate. It is not a tee shirt place, so dress with a little flair and you will fit right in. I would go back in a minute.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMPeople come here for the duck,People come here for the duck, but try something else. The seared foie gras with rhubarb multiple ways was awesome.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMAnniversary Dinner At DeuxaveAmazing food, excellent service and modern yet relaxing atmosphere. One of the best meals we've had in Boston!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding french restaurantMemorable meal. We will plan to return whenever we are in Boston again. The food was excellent and so was the service. We had a very nice, private booth that would request again.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic, consistent and specialI travel the world and have the opportunity to eat in the best restaurants in Paris, Hong Kong, New York and Hong Kong. When I return home to the Boston area it is great to know that we have a world class place in Deuxave in my own home town. The food and service are always first class and our latest experience this past week was no exception - it has been consistently special each of the 5 or 6 times we have been there in the past few years. Having sample many items on the menu, both starters and main courses I would say you cannot go wrong and anything you try is bound to be good.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMCelebrated my wife's birthdayCelebrated my wife's birthday at the restaurant. It was an excellent choise for all reasons.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMSimply the best! The food and service was as impeccable as always at Deuxave. My lobster gnocci starter was amazing and main courses of lamb and duck equally delicious. Can't recommend this place enough.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMThank you, thank you, Deuxave! This is the second time I've had dinner here, and I was thrilled that this meal was as wonderful as the first. The food is so beautifully prepared and presented -- I couldn't resist having the duck breast again, but all of our meals were terrific. Each dish is filled with little surprises, all of them delicious. We wished we could get the recipes for everything we ate. Fantastic food, subtle flavors, great sauces. The portions were just right (neither falling over the sides of the plate nor just "painted on"). Elegant ambience, perfect lighting, wonderfully high ceilings, festive without being loud. Our waitress was terrific, somehow both formal and friendly. Great mix of interesting diners. My new favorite place for a special occasion.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMBest of its kind! This place is awesome. Love it.
If you like lamb rack, this is the place to be.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMTop NotchExcellent experience in all respects. Food very well thought out and executed, wine list compliments the dishes, friendly yet professional hospitality made for a very enjoyable experience. Everything tasted great and was served properly. Can't wait to return.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food before the Boston PopsMy friend and I were looking for a new place to go before a show at the Pops..always hit Brasierre Joe's. We wanted good food but had a time constraint. We ended up with great food and never had to tell the wait staff we were in a time crunch. Everything was delicious and staff was attentive. Would definitely go back.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMwonderful all around experienceanother 5-star experience at one of our Top 3 in Boston. great apps & perfect entrees along with a wonderful bar area & terrific service.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent restaurantGreat imaginative food with very friendly attentive service. Fantastic wine list. We've been there twice and sure to return again.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazingThey just should change the name of the restaurant or teach the guests how to pronounce it ;)5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMForget L'Espalier, this is betterForget the self congratulating phoniness of L'Espalier. Those who have been to great restaurants and appreciate great food will recognize that Deuxave is the Best in Boston. Everything is outstanding, but don't leave without someone at the table having that night's version of the duck confit. Paris and Lyon quality.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMSophisticated food done verySophisticated food done very professionally, without trying to pretentious which many similar place try to be. The place is very elegant and while its far from being cheap it provides good value5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstandingWe ate outside on a lovely warm evening. We started with the beet salad and the mixed greens. Both were spectacular. I requested a "healthy vegetarian meal" They did not disappoint. Fresh pea tendrils with asparagus and quinoa. spectacular meal, great service and lovely night. I've yet to find a flaw with Deuxave and consider it the best restaurant in Boston.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMNot to Miss!Wonderful presentation of masterfully created dishes! My mouth waters in remembrance.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMFood and Service are alwaysFood and Service are always excellent. Very nice menu choices with plenty of wine selections by the glass. We come here often before attending the BSO and it makes for a great night out in Boston. the Lobster Pasta Appetizer, Duck Breast and deserts, were out of this world. Will be back for sure!5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a find! The chef andWhat a find! The chef and his wife Victoria were both incredible! Thank you both for a wonderful experience!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMDeuxave: nexus for haute cuisineFirst time dining at Deuxave for Mother's Day...great prix fixe menu, really a tasting of Deuxave and a memorable experience. Really, the restaurant is an intersection of haute cusine and warm, unpretentious ambience. Fresh seasonal ingredients and creative compositions. The best take-away: we reside on the same block and this will be our special place to dine in the future.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMDeuxaveWe have been to Deuxave 4 times and have always had a wonderful experience. The food is the best we have ever had. The atmosphere is great and the service is amazing. The manager always takes the time to say a few words and check in on our experience. I highly recommend this restaurant5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderfulBoth food and service was impeccable. Our waiter was very warm and attentive. The halibut and the duck were uniquely prepared and delicious. Our only complaint was the noise level. Tables were too close together and it was difficult to hear my husband over the noisy person sitting at the table next to me.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service, great foodWe were celebrating and selected this restaurant for romantic special occasion. The food was excellent, but it was the service that made this night memorable. Andrew helped us navigate the intimidating wine list... Emeritas was delicious for our dinner selection.
French onion soup, beet salad, lamb chops, steak... all great!
Special celebratory drink served before dessert, and extra fancy presentation of the chocolate souffle were fun too.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperb Experience!!My wife and I dined at Deuxave last night. First, let me say our server Andrew was knowledgeable, engaging and there when we needed him. We loved the ambiance of the room! My wife had the beets and chicken. I had the 9 hour french onion soup and the duck breast. The beets were perfectly cooked and had great taste and were matched with a creamy chèvre that was again perfect! The chicken had a texture (special process) that I have never tasted before - moist but firm - excellent! The 9 hour french onion soup was the best I ever had. Deeply rich broth and onions that added a delicate sweetness to each spoonful of broth, cheese and bread. The duck was sliced thin and very tender and the lentils were perfectly cooked.
We will be back!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMDuck prepared with flairI found this place by chance on Open Table and had a most memorable meal. I did not realize the chef specialized in the preparation of duck and it was prepared four different ways on the menu. Our family tried the confit, the spiced Long Island duck breast and the foie gras. All were superb. Service was smooth and efficient and the server was very knowledgeable about the menu .5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat except for the waiterDinner at Deuxave was everything we hoped it would be. The food was delicious especially the heirloom beet salad and the halibut entree. The wine list was extensive with a number of good choices at different price ranges. The one thing that made our dinner less than perfect was the waiter. He spent too much time talking about his qualifications as a waiter, and was rather bothersome. Once we made our food choices, he never came back to check in. We would definitely go back again, as long as we can avoid him.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMThis continues to be one ofThis continues to be one of our favorite places for dinner.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and ambienceA sophisticated menu, well executed. Service was excellent and tables are well spaced. We very much enjoyed our dinner. Everything was delicious...from the duck confit salad to the scallop, halibut, and pasta entrees, to the desserts.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellence and flexibilityDeuxave's food and service are always excellent. I was particularly grateful this time because two of our group had flown in from Europe and at the last minute made us late and then decided they were too tired for dinner. Deuxave responded to all this with smiles and attentiveness. (We tried to make up some of our lapses in the tip.) Bottom line, I love the place.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food here is spectacular,The food here is spectacular, the service top notch and the wine was great. We were visiting and found this gem and plan to return here on our next visit.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMRomantic dining experience.Nestled among the stately brownstones along the back bay area of Commonwealth Ave, this quiet, romantic restaurant serves imaginative and delicious appetizers and entrees, and to die for desserts. A hidden gem close, but worlds away from the bustle of Massachusetts Ave.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMA Gem in Back BayA group of us go out to dinner twice a year when we go to annual meetings of our professional associations. Since these meetings are not in our home towns we rely on reviews. Was a little nervous about Deuxave - didn't know how to pronounce it and there were some odd comments in some of the reviews. Not to worry! We had an excellent meal with excellent service. Form our greeting at the door through the dessert. I had their version of a margarita in honor of Cinco de Mayo which with the addition of hot pepper was quite tasty. Our salad and main courses were fresh. My friends had the haddock which they said was superb. My crispy chicken was yummy. Dinner ended with a chocolate souffle which was perfect.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperb - best meal in BostonWent to several highly rated restaurants in Boston and wasn't satisfied until we went to Deuxave. Fantastic and friendly service from hostesses and server. Food was well presented and flavorful without being overly rich. Would highly recommend!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner was excellent. TheDinner was excellent. The duck was incredible and is a must try! The lamb chimps were a good size but would of liked atleast one more. The weight staff was very attentive and answered all questions. She spent the time to give us tips, very friendly.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMDeuxave has class withoutDeuxave has class without the "airs". Very professional staff - attentive but not overbearing. Excellent food & beverages - presentation of meal was not over the top (my preference) - subtle confidence in the entire operation was evident.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMlove this placeI have been the Deuxave a few times now and have had spectacular meals every time. The wait staff are friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu and wine list, the restaurant is comfortable and not too noisy, and the food is spectacular. My salad was a little overdressed, but that was the only thing that was less than excellent! I will definitely go back!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMDeuxave...Suave AND ApproachableVisiting Boston, my husband and set aside a night for upscale dining. Wine list...awesome! The heirloom beet starter with walnuts and a soft white cheese was delicious and I usually gravitate away from beets. We devoured the New York strip steak with a variety of mushrooms and wonderful sauces. On to dessert... one of the desserts was the cheese plate to accompany the wine that remained after the last bite of steak. The other was a heavenly combination of candied citrus, homemade banana ice cream, chocolate mousse and crunchy praline bites. The presentation of our selections was deliberate and pleasing to the eye. Absolutely stimulating food in a setting blending modern and rustic elements.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat restaurant! My partner and I just love deuxave, great food and wine list and knowledgeable staff. Very sophisticate.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMDeuxaveWe found it difficult to decide as the menu was fantastic. The amuse bouche was a wonderful ceviche. The lobster gnocchi and the halibut were outstanding. The service was efficient and friendly, pitched at just the right level of formality. Refreshingly we were reassured that Boston tap was pretty good. The only up selling was the slight suggestion to order hand cut fries which weren't needed as the mains were well accompanied with potatoes and vegetables. We were unhurried throughout which was great as we were entertaining a colleague I had bumped into at a conference earlier that day. All in all a wonderfully relaxed but top quality evening which while not inexpensive was certainly good value for the standard of food, wine and service.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
