Our waiter was knowledgeable, and had a great sense of humor. The view was beautiful over Lake Union. We even had sunshine. The food was exactly what you would expect from Daniel's. My steak was overdone, my wife's not done enough. But, with all of this I will say it is a good place, nice servers, and they did pick up our dessert, which is always nice but we don't eat dessert. Great staff, wonderful menu, and superb presentation are hallmarks of Daniel's at Lake Union. Parking's never a problem here, and the setting, nestled on the shore of Lake Union, presents a perfect background for a great dining experience. The staff is friendly, and the service is excellent. From the moment we walked thru the doors until we left, we felt welcome, and were made to feel comfortable in a very formal setting. When we first arrived, we were thanked for calling ahead telling them we'd be a little late. When they found out it was our first visit, they showed us around a little, and took us to the meat case and gave a little history. I don't usually eat at an expensive restaurant, because my budget doesn't allow it, but the next time I have a very, VERY special occasion, as this was, this will be on my top 5!! Our original server had to go home early due to not feeling well and was replaced by a "trainee" server named Kermit. Make no mistake, Kermit needed no training. He was one of the best servers I have encountered at a nice restaurant. Very polite, knowledgeable, and patient. The prime rib was excellent and my wife had the sirloin. She did sent it back to have to cooked more well done but she's picky; they could've served mine still breathing would've been fine. First, our waiter, Tim, asked how I was....by my name. It made me feel like everyone knew me and I felt very comfortable. He also knew we took a cab to the restaurant so when we were getting ready to leave, he mentioned before we even had to ask that he could call for a cab. We were well taken care of. My boyfriend had their pork chop. Cooked perfectly med-rare +. And I had the melt-in-your-mouth prime rib. Their fresh strawberry puree lemon drop was to die for also!!!! I had an Open Table reservation at 8:15 and ended up having to wait 30 minutes past that to get a table. I have to say I hate this when they say on Open Table they have it open, when in fact they do not. They were so nice about this, giving us, they said, an appetizer platter, which is quite pricey. Great service by Tim, but unfortunately, not sure if intentional or not, the "free" appetizer was on my bill when it came and I had to enter into negotiations again. It was quickly taken care of, but something was largely amiss on this night.
