A word from Cuoco
"Cuoco" is the Italian word for "cook," and the inspiration for showing off our chefs in an open kitchen. The pasta work station is framed in crisp white tile and surrounded by warm gold and red walls. In addition to the featured fresh pastas, there are savory vegetables and other hearty entrees, created by our newest chef, Stuart Lane. Several private dining options will be available to accommodate 12-25 guests.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "It was Restaurant Week, so I understand they were probably busier than normal. No biggie. The only beef with their service was that my three companions got their Rigatoni and the guy who dropped these off said he'd be right back with my salad. It was easily more than five minutes later when it showed up. My poor companions were too polite to start without me so their food was cool. I loved the fried cauliflower with the aoli!!! I have never left a Restaurant Week participating restaurant anything less than full. Until this trip. That's my fault though for ordering a SALAD as an entree. Oh well."

  • "Made last minute reservation on Thursday night. It was crowded with some large tables of diners. We were just two and it took forever to get water, to order and get our bill. We would have done better to sit in the bar as the bartender wasn't busy."

  • "I don't know how Tom Douglas manages it, but each of his restaurants is unique and delicous. Cuoco is no exception. Each dish is Italian but with a Northwest fresh twist. I had the Restaurant Week special and enjoyed all three dishes as well as the tastes I had from my dinner companions' meals. The chilled fresh pea soup, flank steak with wheat berry dressing and ling cod with greens were all excellent. Raspberry sorbet tasted like fresh berries, and the sesame brittle gelato was unusual and scrumptious. The fried vegetable first course was too salty but the yogurt dipping sauce that accompanied it was lemony and delicious."

  • "Went to Cuoco's with very high expectations but was ultimately disappointed with the quality and taste of the food. Prices are high and portions are small to reflect the trendy nature of this South Lake Union eatery. So we wanted to try this restaurant during the Seattle Restaurant Week celebration. In a restaurant known for its home made pastas they served a Beet Gnocci which was over mixed and under flavored. The only thing that brought the flavor to the dish was a dollop of goat cheese. The cod was excellent with a nice sear but again the portion was small. The appetizers were again disappointing with the Cuoco Fritti uninspired. Even with restaurant week the bill was well over $100 for 2."

  • "We have eaten here twice now: once when it had just opened and just recently. I think the food and service have improved dramatically. This restaurant is in a new, vibrant part of Seattle close to Lake Union. I had the flank steak with pole to fries: both perfectly done. I also recommend the Italian doughnuts, which were warm, crisp, and just the right amount!"

  • "My wife and I love the relaxed, romantic feel of Cuoco. We definitely will return to try more dishes. We had the Cauliflower Tortellini and the Cuoco Steak Fritto, and they were simply amazing. The Melted Scamorza with Fennel Breadsticks and Dahlia Bakery Bread with Olive Oil are breathtaking. Service was very nice and friendly. Very well-timed as well. 100% recommended."

  • "Dinner at my 3rd favorite Tom Douglas restaurant is never disappoints. This time was no exception. Started with the octopus appie (why my octopus hating wife shared because it had ham hocks in it as well as oranges) then I finally tried the "famous" lasagna that my family has all tried and raved about and I have never had. It was wonderful. Finished off with an olive oil torte served with a scoop of pistachio gellato some excellent sour cherries. Had a great Cabernet Franc to go along with it all. A truly satisfying meal. Service was outstanding."

  • "They were out of what I really wanted (Lamb ravioli), but I enjoyed my dinner none the less. Felt a little more like a big Ethan Stowell restaurant than a TD one. Ambiance was good. Our waiter was very good as well."

  • "Price point is too high for the low quality and quantity of food. Started with the porchetta bites which were pieces of pork rolled in breadcrumbs. Got 3 tiny pieces of dried out pork on plate with a tiny bit of greens. I ordered the cappelletti, parmigiano fonduta filled, rapini 25. A pile of tortellinesque cheese filled pasta. smothered in oil and way too rich to eat more than a few. They covered in a mess of dandelion greens that were way too bitter to eat. My partner ordered grilled pork tenderloin, farro, parsnips, pancetta, saba 28. The pork was a bit salty but flavorful, portions were tiny and the faro was undercooked. My wine was lovely though and a bargain at $8. Server was attentive and sweet however."

  • "Atmosphere was good; ling cod entre was great; sunchokes side was okay and the serving too large. I would definitely return to try one of their homemade pasta dishes. I thought prices a bit high considering entre and side both need to be ordered for well-balanced meal. Will return but not rushing to do so."

  • "This was my fourth visit to Cuoco and it didn't disappoint. We arrived early and had appetizers in the bar. I very much enjoyed my seared ling cod dinner ordered with a slight variation (hold the pine nuts). The braised greens were flavorful and the side of brussel sprouts delectable. The Sangiovese we ordered was a lovely selection for our group of four. My husband was somewhat disappointed by his flank steak but we enjoyed the evening and had great, friendly and warm service. Thank you, Cuoco!"

  • "Considered a lasagna snob, the Sunday night lasagna was the best I've ever experienced. The server was outstanding and made the evening a pleasure."

  • "I went with a group of 10 from my office for a celebratory lunch. We were seated in a semi-private room which was a great spot. We felt like we were still part of the restaurant, but in our own area so we could hear everyone in the group. Cuoco has an upscale yet semi-casual feel, and the prices are great for a workday lunch. The food and service were great. And the desserts are amazing! I highly recommend the Italian donuts and coconut creme pie."

  • "We chose Cuomo for our Valentine's dinner date, and were not disappointed. The food was delicious. My husband had the lamb shank, I had the beet gnocchi. Both were so flavorful, and portions were just right. we also shared the brussels sprouts, which everyone seems to recommend, and they were also yummy. We also had the italian donuts for dessert. Fried bread dough from any cuisine will always be at the top of my list. Prices were average for this type of restaurant. We didn't have any alcohol, but two entrees, beverages and dessert ran us about $100 with the tip. Just right."

  • "One of my favorite Seattle restaurants; consistently great!"

  • "This was a nice place to meet and dine with a friend. Although the restaurant was noisy, we could still speak & hear our conversation at a comfortable level. My friend was late, due to traffic. Our waitress did a nice job making me comfortable during the wait. Our food was served in an appropriate time. We split a salad and shared the dishes we selected. Our waitress did a nice job presenting our meal to us, making it easy to share our meal."

  • "There was four in our group and everyone loved their food. We will definitely go back soon. We live in Portland but my boyfriend says he will drive to Seattle just to eat here :)"

  • "I've had multiple lunches here and had a terrific experience every time. The wait staff knows to leave time for conversation, yet gets our orders and is attentive. We never feel rushed. I had the steak salad sans the delicious garlic croutons because I am "off carbs" this week. It was a shame to miss their olive bread, but I splurged on a cappuccino. Love the fish special whatever it is, the kitchen does an excellent job."

  • "From the "viewing window" of the chef-assistants making the various pasta by hand to the knowledgeable wait staff, my first time experience will be followed by a second...nicely done Tom Douglas"

  • "A great place in the up and coming So Lake Union area! A true gem! We.ve enjoyed it since it first opened - it's consistently good food, great service and we love the ambience! Excellent wine list and they ALWAYS do their upmost to accommodate any special requests! Have recommended it to friends and no one has ever been disappointed!"

  • "Dined with a couple of girlfriends on a Monday night. Had reservations for the dining room but started out at the bar first and stayed because we were content there. We had a little booth. The restaurant was partially full. Noise level was a nice low hum. Lighting was pleasantly dim, not eye-straining. Full menu at the bar, HH specials on drink, not food. Ordered everything the bartender recommended and everything was excellent. Must-haves: grilled octopus, linguine Nero, cappelletti, and the chocolate boca. Pricing was moderate and reasonable. Not good for kids, good for a date night or having a nice dinner out with friends."

  • "as with all of Douglas' restaurants, the food is good but not special. Prices are fine as is ambiance but he needs more creativity in his menu. Again, good food but there is a lot of that elsewhere"

  • "The flavors on all of the pasta dishes are amazing. I had friends from out of town, two from San Francisco and one from New York, that were so impressed with the items they ordered. They all are pretty big foodies and eat out quite often at trendy restaurants too. I thought it was great that on Sunday nights they offered a 3 course set dinner for $25.00. When we went they had the lasagna with garlic bread from the Dahlia Bakery, and a fresh mixed greens salad. Plus gelato for dessert. Service was outstanding...and it is always fun to watch the chefs as they are rolling out the fresh pasta. They are happy to chat with you and talk about what they are doing also."

  • "Didn't know where to take my wife for her birthday. Remembered we had two Tom Douglas restaurant gift cards. Randomly picked Cuoco because we like Italian. Absolutely awesome restaurant. This will be one of our regular spots for some time to come. Everything was excellent!."

  • "This restaurant portrays itself as Italian. Not quite, this would give Olive Garden a run for its money. Just okay. Service not so great. Petrale Sole was overcooked and salty. I would not recommend."

  • "We enjoy this restaurant. It's not fancy, but it's certainly on the upscale side and has great ambience. Good little bites, and yummy fresh cocktails. The space is dimly lit and the air is jovial."

  • "I chose Cuoco for my birthday and barely looked at the menu because I knew what I wanted: lasagna. I was so disappointed. I wonder if it was left over from Sunday night dinner? It was so bland and dry. I also ordered the Cesare salad which was basically a plate of whole romaine leaves. I hate to sound cranky. Again, I chose the restaurant because I like it but it was an off night for the kitchen and wait staff. Fortunately, the bartender gave us great service and made us a yummy drink. Next time, I'll opt just for happy hour."

  • "We enjoyed the dining experience overall; nothing to go back a second time for. I did not care that my supper was served out of a tin plate while my husband's dinner was on an actual plate. Not the ambiance I was expecting. I ordered the Sunday lasagne supper and the price was reasonable at $25.00 for salad, entree with two pieces of bread, and a scoop gelato. The lemon gelato was superb and lasagne was so delicious! The flank steak my husband ordered was tender but the polenta fries had a little bit to much rosemary. Prices were reasonable. Good for groups, families. Noise level was quiet."

  • "This is just a fabulous restaurant. I've been there about 10 times, every time is just perfect -- great food, service and atmosphere. Servers know their stuff."

  • "Overall. We enjoyed it. But our server was weird and spoke quickly in short inaudible phrases, like he didn't really have time to explain things to us if we didn't already know about the food. Slightly disappointing experience."

  • "I often take my business associates here. It's great food and vino, easy to carry on a conversation, and a nice way to enjoy Seattle."

  • "Six kisses for exquisite meals without needlessly being complex. Straight forward recipes, choice ingredients, masterfully prepared. It's what I love about Tom Douglas' restaurants."

  • "I feel the service isn't as great as it would of been if we didn't come in a large group where the gratuity was already added to the bill.. because of this, the waitresses did not care much about us.. if we at least received a smile or two, i'd give a better review. We were all very excited about this night but left feeling very disappointing that such a nice restaurant with great food has such poor service. I am a believer in Tom Douglas but this was a disgrace in his name. We will not be returning. Hearing everyone all night ask for the waitress is very annoying."

  • "The food is excellent. But we had really bad service. The initial order for wine and appetizers took 15 minutes, bringing us the wine took another 15 minutes, and she still forgot the appetizers. We ordered dinner, indicated we were now in a rush at that time. When the food came I asked for the check as well, again, we were in a rush. It never showed up. I stuck my credit card in her hand as she walked by since she never actually came to our table. She brought the check back for my signature and said "If you would have told us you were in a rush we could have expedited it." Very disappointing since I had told her we were in a rush multiple times."

  • "Was expecting a lot better based on reviews, both meals were ok at best. Also, both plates were drowned in parmesan, which should be an optional side... the donut dessert was fantastic and hands down the best part if the meal."
