Diner Reviews
  • "Limited menu compared to the other Cullina restaurant but the food was generally good but not awesome. Casual atmosphere; service was so-so. The servers weren't particularly attentive - we got the wrong menus, it took a long time to get our orders in, the server didn't really smile, the server forgot to take someone's order(in a party of 6), I had to physically get up and search for my server to get the bill."

  • "Very nice restaurant. My BLT and soup were perfect. Thanks for a great lunch."

  • "I had the lamb burger, it was tasty but dry. Not really much of interest on the beer list. My wife had the grilled chicken breast and enjoyed it."

  • "Culina Muttart is a lovely place to meet downtown work colleagues, or neighbourhood friends, for lunch: it's accessible, away from the noise and traffic and has FREE PARKING - a real bonus. More importantly, the food is excellent. The menu, which was constant (but delicious) for a long time has changed since my last visit. I loved the new dishes - the lamb burger, the house salad (made from veggies grown in the Muttart greenhouses), the soups, etc. etc. The day of my visit it was drizzly and cool - which was a disappointment as Culina Muttart has a wonderful outdoor patio. Service was efficient, prices were reasonable. I'll be back soon with hopes of sitting on the patio on a glorious Edmonton summer day."

  • "We tried Culina Muttart's Thursday evening dinner and really enjoyed it. Though it's mostly just the lunch menu with a few tweaks, the items featured are tasty and work well. The server also went out of her way to accommodate us and our baby which was really appreciated. Try the bread pudding for dessert!"

  • "Food was good, but the patio was the highlight. My friend and I came for lunch just after the Friday lunch rush. The side salad that came with my friend's veggie sandwich looked amazing. The drinks were good value, and they were tasty! I really enjoyed the Alberta Mojito, as well as the Cucumber Ginger Fizz. Just a great place to spend a summer afternoon."

  • "The Culina patio opened again for the summer season, and it's one of my favourite places to meet for lunch with the kids. The combination of local ingredients, changing menu, and good service make this one of my favourites. It can get busy during lunch and weekend brunch, so get a reservation for those times. They sometimes are understaffed during these times to, which is the only criticism I've got."

  • "If you want to escape from the usual lunch hour options downtown, hop in your car for a quick drive to Culinary at the Muttart Conservatory. Parking is easy, and you can have a delicious lunch in the river valley. We dined outdoors on a warm sunny day, felt like a mini vacation in the middle of the work week and work day. Service was quick, I was back at the office within 1.5 hours and lunch was leisurely, not rushed. we each had grilled chicken on a bed of greens. Delicious, flavorful and great value. And the special bonus is the lovely location. "

  • "Will be back, because we love the location. Have always enjoyed Culina off 99 St, so thought we would give this a try. Missing a little in attentiveness. Food was good but not what we have experienced on 99 St. Service mediorce. Thought the patio could be a little cozier -maybe cushions or blankets for those cold medal chairs. A little disappointed for our first visit, but will give it another try."

  • "Inside feels much like a cafeteria rather than a restaurant. Outdoor patio is quite lovely though, with large tropical plants and a water stream. I ordered the breakfast buritto and had to send it back. It had no flavour - tasted like cardboard. Extremely disappointing. Ordered a cup of soup instead - just to have something to eat. Much prefer the culina on 99th St but haven't been there in a while. Hopefuly they are still serving food with flavour. "

  • "This restaurant always has great healthy food. And it is a nice evening when it is combined with a stroll through the Muttart afterwards. "

  • "Culina at the Muttart Conservatory is a great place to have lunch! The food is consistently excellent, and the service is both prompt and friendly. With reasonable prices, and the feeling of welcome that diners are afforded, I recommend this restaurant unconditionally. As a bonus, the Conservatory itself is a wonderful place to wait for a friend, or just to hang out."

  • "I was really looking forward to a late "Mother's Day" lunch with my mom at this restaurant, but was very disappointed. First off, it was so noisy that we could barely carry on a conversation. We both ended up ordering the special which was a rice bowl with ribs. The ribs were so tough that it was difficult to even get any meat off them. The rest of the dish was nothing special either - average at best. Overall, a disappointing experience. "

  • "Culina Muttart has an ever-changing menu which is always creative and healthy. I love going there not only for the food, but for the quiet ambiance of the conservatory. Great place for a lunch meeting. I would highly recommend trying their take on the El Salvadoran Pupusas while they still have them!"

  • "Delicious lunch. No clear choice as all the entrees sounded fabulous. Settled on Marina's perogies. Decided to go back and try each item on the menu over the summer :)"

  • "We were a table of 5 for a business lunch. Poor choice of location because we couldn't hear each other over the ambient noise. Poor acoustics."

  • "Lovely little getaway! It may have noisier than usual since it's was Mother's Day and there was a constant line up going in and out of the conservatory but we managed to still have a intimate conversation with Mom who has hearing loss, we sat by the window, there was 3 of us. I've been in the food & beverage industry for 40 years, nice menu, great food, delicious really, great friendly service, food service was quicker than I expected being so busy. It was was simply a lovely little surprise, I will go back and have already recommended it to friends."

  • "Our mom picked Culina to dine on May 10th for Mother's Day. She was absolutely thrilled with every single item we ordered and ensured she saved room for dessert! It was all fantastic food and a great atmosphere! "

  • "After reading a review that suggested this was only secondary to having brunch at the MacDonald Hotel we were very disappointed. The menu was very limited and here I blame myself for not checking it out before I booked for Brunch. We loved the Borscht but there really was not much else on the menu for our particular dietary needs. We will not be in any hurry to dine here again. We found the dining room very cafeteria like in atmosphere and the food fit the atmosphere. We were really hoping to find something special and are sorry to say this was not the case. "

  • "Lunch at Culina is always a good experience. Generally the service is always great, however this time we had a little problem getting and paying our cheque. You were really busy that day at lunch and I realize that the staff was trying to accomodate everyone. "

  • "This is truly one of the faves for luncheon meetings - the setting at Mutters's gives you a 'bit of the outdoors' in the middle of a working day... the free, ample parking is a no-brainer... and the food is consistent. Would love to have whole-grain breads for their sandwiches, but tolerate the baguettes simply not to have to encourage their use of yogurt cheese or hummus as the healthier choice for sandwich spreads. This time, soup was slightly spicy, good tomato blend. And great service when what we were served was not what we had ordered. Thanks. "

  • "Culina is a good place to stop before or after going through the muttart for a coffee and pastry but the sandwiches weren't very flavorful and I wouldn't recommend the lunch in general. "

  • "Muttart location! ~Waited 20min to be seated ~We were told there was a shortage of bacon, Shortage of Menus' ~Waited over 45 min for food to arrive to the table to find it cold ~Not child friendly at all.. menu is not for children on Easter ~ Was not offered coffee / beverages had to ask ~ shortage of staff ~When booking for Brunch on Easter many people we talked to were expecting a "Buffet" ~ When booking for "Brunch" on Easter Sunday & regular menu is served you don't pile people all in at 11:00/ 11:15 and have them wait, for 20/25 min sitting there. Over all experience was disappointing!"

  • "Sunday Brunch: Eggs Benedict (ordered without the ham) came with ham & I had to track down our very pleasant but busy waitress. I waited about 10 min for the return. The eggs were barely warm. The slice of tomato was fresh & tasty but also cool. I was hungry & did not want to create any further delays for our company so dug in! Eggs were done to perfection in terms of softness, BUT COOL! One of our party who also had the Eggs Benedict was very happy with her meal. Our BD friend had the French toast & she rated it 5/10 & was a bit put off by the blueberry concoction that had turned all the fruit blue! Service was pleasant but not attentive enough to pick up on our particulars. The bill showed no reflection of the lateness of my meal."

  • "Arrived on time and was seated immediately. Not a large menu for brunch but both our dishes were excellent. Nice atmosphere with restaurant being part of the Muttart Conservatory. Will definitely recommend to friends and return for Sunday brunch. Would recommend reservations."

  • "We had a reservation but had to wait for a table. The food was good but lunch was almost three hours due to poor service. On the upside, it gave my friends and I time to chat. I would recommend, but not without a warning about the service."

  • "I met a friend at Muttart to ward off the winter blues with a visit to the gardens. While the tulips were on the fade, they did help raise our spirits. But the high point was lunch at Culina. Best BLT I have had - really delicious, although the accompanying potatoes were a bit bland. My friend had the marinated vegetable salad, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Tiny space, friendly servers, limited menu, but what they do, they do well."

  • "Had the special - called a Chicken Salad, which was grilled chicken pieces and an arugula salad with an especially flavourful dressing. My guest had the soup special that was some type of vegetable puree with lime and spices. She really enjoyed that also. Service was just as it should be, there when you needed them and not when you didn't. Love this spot. Easy to get to... free parking."

  • "If you are going to Muttart why not stop in and have a bite at the cafe. Food is very fresh, locally sourced and delicious. If you happen to be in the neighbourgood stop in. We went on a Saturday it was very busy and I recommend a reservation if you plan on eating in, arrived at 1pm Special was sold out, very loud, limited menu. Can also get take out."

  • "Based on the reviews I have read about Culina, I was expecting amazing food instead, it was generic, bland, boring, and expensive"

  • "We booked Culina Muttart for Sunday brunch at 1:30 PM. When we got there, we were informed that they had run out of ALL the main dishes. If this was not bad enough, our server was absolutely not affected by that, even noting we were quite disappointed. We decided to stay in any case, even though they charge about $11 for a simple ham and cheese sandwich. We got a table and were forgotten by our waitress there for about 10 minutes unti she finally came to offer us coffee. As we waited, we overheard another waitress tell someone sitting on the table next to us that they had run out of the vanilla ice cream (can you believe it?). After waiting another 10 minutes (no coffee) we left the place. I don't think they ever noticed!"

  • "Avenue Magazine said this place was tops for brunch. Our waitress was forgetful and inattentive. An example is, coffee was refilled only once which was after the meal was over. The food was nothing spectacular and over priced. I won't be back here."
