Diner Reviews
  • "The executive chef is born and raised in New Orleans, so there are the staples: étouffée, shrimp & grits, etc but they are done with a gourmet twist. I had the crab stuffed shrimp and my husband had the shrimp & grits and they were both delicious. Service was great, atmosphere laid back and casual, with lots of yummy entrees to pick from."

  • "I love great food and tried to experience all the notable restaurants in French Quarter, including Nola. I had Shrimp and Grits at both Nola and Crescent City Brewhouse. Both were absolutely delicious, but the dish at CCB was better. Plus we sat on the upstairs balcony and watched the scene below, which made it even better."

  • "I get the bread pudding and it was absolutely amazing! My fiancé got the chocolate cake and it was good as well."

  • "I had the crab stuffed shrimp and it was by far my favorite meal I've had while in New Orleans. It was delicious! Then to top it off, I had he lemon meringue cake and was to die for. My boyfriend and I were fighting over the last bite! He had the crispy duck and was finished before me which is unusual, and the triple chocolate cake which he said tasted like a fancy fudge round. The beer wasn't great but we don't have a taste for it anyway. I would say the red stallion was the best out of the four we tried. I would definitely go back in a heart beat! I can't get over that shrimp!"

  • "All fried food options. They should have grilled shrimp or chicken offered with kids meals. Certainly not impressed."

  • "Service was outstanding; our orders were brought quickly, and our glasses were never empty. Wait staff went out of their way to make us feel at home. This is a hidden gem near Jackson Square that I will visit again!"

  • "My waitress was great! I asked for a specialty cocktail and she came up with a great selection; exactly what I was looking for. Great service, great personalities, and a great place to bring the parents when they visit over the summer or anytime of the year! A friend recommended the restaurant to me, and I will definitely be recommending it to others."

  • "The updated menu at Crescent City Brewhouse is great. The new fish taco was delicious with several levels of flavor. Just what food preparation in New Orleans is all about. We started our meal with the Baked Oysters Threw Way - especially enjoined the crab and saffron version. Then onto the Shrimp Po' Boy and Fish Taco, while sipping several styles of the house beer of course. The Red Stallion beer, like all the house beers, are tasty, consistent, true to origin, and best of all they are refreshing! We like the high ceiling space, metal ceilings, local artwork on display, and large ceiling fans creating a breeze. Enjoy."

  • "Near Jackson Square, this brewpub vies with many fine restaurants, several famous. This one will not compete with the big names, but it has great food. I visited in many years ago, and was delighted when I returned. The seasonal beer was excellent, as were the crab cake appetizer was yummy. My wife had the crabmeat stuffed shrimp, and found it outstanding. I had a sausage platter that was great. We did not have room for dessert. My wife's daiquiri did not have much alcohol in it. Other than that, it was a great meal. We will come back the next time we are in New Orleans. The live jazz was superb, but the breaks between numbers were a bit long."

  • "The service was great! The food not so much. I have dined at the CCBH on many occasions. This is the second time in a row the food was poor. The steak was overcooked and stringy. It was also laden with grizzle to the point I left a large portion on the plate. The fish was tasty but was only room temperature. I was truly disappointed, again. Not sure what may have changed but two bad experiences in under 30 days... Again, the service was great!"

  • "Server was great but food took far too long to come out. Atmosphere was good though. If you eat upstairs, the music is not as loud."

  • "It wasn't our first time to NO, but was our first time to eat @ the Brewhouse. We saw an article recommending it so we wanted to give it a try! It, by far, exceeded our expectations! We ate outside on the patio and the jazz music was playing downstairs which created a perfect atmosphere! The service was excellent and the food was delicious, bursting with flavor! For our appetizer, we had the Seafood Cheesecake. I had the ribs and my husband had Redfish! You must try the Creole Creme Cheescake!"

  • "I visited CCBH 19 years ago and have said that I had the best Filet ever (then). Well, I finally returned to NOLA and CCBH and I still say best steaks ever! Returned 2 nights later and devoured Crabmeat Stuffed Shrimp. Absolutely divine food!"

  • "the food was delicious. we had the seafood cheesecake, wings, and crème brulee. the hand-made mojitos were exceptional, as well. overall, a great place to go to take it easy and get a bite to eat."

  • "Went for the music, but the band was off more than on (really long - and frequent - breaks) so pretty disappointing. Food good - but not great. Better places for food definitely in NO if no music. Staff was great even though very crowded"

  • "The Brewhouse is a typical NO casual dinning place, we booked a table as we wanted to eat close to a peak time of 8pm, although most Americans seem to prefer to eat much earlier. The restaurant was not full on this night (Thursday) and the upper floors were used for a party, the patio was closed due to rain. Live jazz music was provided but the band packed up and left at 8.45pm. The food was OK, typical for this type of tourist place. Beers from the brewery were available but seemed expensive compared to other places, considering it was brewed there. Service was average. The bar closed at 10pm! Not quite Bourbon St."

  • "Small charming Brewhouse with very good beer(German style), delicious high quality food(Louisiana style), great service, great location and live Jazz music every day… all in one place which gives them 5 stars! Our waiter, Bryan, was very knowledgable about their food and beer and was very friendly and helpful. My husband loved their dark beer "Black Forest". We had a great time and will definitely go back… hope we can have the same experience again."

  • "If you are looking for just a bar with a good beer selection, this is the place for you. However, if you also want a good meal to go with it, do not go here. The food was ok, but in a great food place like New Orleans, you can do a lot better."

  • "Overall not a bad place. Food good for the location. Reasonable prices for the location. Local live music playing. Waitress was attentive and friendly. Historic location added to ambience. Fun place. "

  • "Looking for a Sat night opening last minute and found this through Open Table. Our group enjoyed the oysters, gumbo, and my shrimp and grits. Good desserts, too. Returned for lunch the next day for the sausage plate. Excellent."

  • "We thought this restaurant would be a burger brew house but was pleasantly surprised to find great fish dishes. Grouper flatbread was delicious and the crab stuffed flounder was amazing!"

  • "Located on Decatur, from the balcony one can just see the Mississippi R. where the Steam Boat Natchez docks. Also great for people watching as one is above the street level. "

  • "I really enjoyed the Crescent City Brewhouse. The beer was great!! The food was excellent! I wish they would have had a little bit of a larger menu, but overall, we had a very nice experience. Service was quick and professional, as well!"

  • "I know this restaurant has a water view when you sit on the patio. We were not able to though. The lobster mac and cheese was delicious as well as the etouffe. The waitress seemed like she was disinterested."

  • "As we had friends visiting NOLA, the location of this restaurant was great. The service was very attentive and very knowledgeable and the food was good, not great, but hte serv8ce, the beer and the ambience made up for that."

  • "Both the home-brewed beer and the creole food we had were pretty mediocre. Not busy, so I can't say how service is when it is. "

  • "Nice dinner in the outdoor dining area. Everyone happy with their entree (10 & 12 yr olds plus parents). Only complaint: server didn't tell us we could get small or large beers, so he brought us large. We would have been happy with the small, and some beer was left behind."

  • "Took a chance on this restaurant as near our hotel and wanted to avoid busy Bourbon Street. Food and atmosphere very good. Reasonable costs."

  • "We had been given lots of recommendations for our recent trip to NOLA but no one mentioned Crescent City Brewhouse. However, my husband loves microbreweries so we decided to have lunch there. He tried the 5 sampler beer and particularly liked the Weiss and Black Forest (as did I and I'm not a beer drinker). The food was delicious...I had the BLT and he had the étouffée. Best of all was the service. Peter B. was excellent, attentive without being obtrusive. We cannot recommend Crescent City Brewhouse enough."

  • "Ate here last year while in NOLA but just sat at the bar and had oysters which were great. Came back this year and decided to go there for a quick pub food dinner. We both ordered poor boys, a shrimp and a pork. Neither were very good. Pretty much the worse poor boys we ever had. Very disappointing meal."

  • "Stopped in for lunch, and it was great! My waiter, whose name I forget (skinny and I think tall too, young fella) was very knowledgeable about the menu, and his suggestions were spot on, both the lunch and the drinks. I was very impressed and WILL return next time I'm in N.O."

  • "We went for the beer and we blown away by how good the food was! Everything we had was excellent. The seafood cheesecake so delicious. The oysters were also great, as was the duck. We loved it."

  • "I was somewhat disappointed in the portion size in relation to the cost of the meal. I had the red fish with a soft shell crab ($30) and my wife had grouper w/crab meat ($23). There was no bread provided with the meal. While the quality was OK, not worth the price paid. Beer was good. I would say that the service person was attentive but it was by far not great service."
