    Our private downstairs dining room offers a striking convergence of architecture, light and design that echoes the concept of the main dining room and can accommodate up to 50 seated guests.     For a smaller space closer to the action, try our spectacular chef’s table adjoining our open kitchen. This semi-private room features a large communal table for eight with an insider's view into Chef Taylor's bustling kitchen.

  • Public Transit: We are two blocks north of the Montgomery Street station - look for the Sutter/Sansome exit and walk north on Sansome two blocks. Turn left on Pine Street; we are on the north side of the street. MUNI 38, 8x, 30 & 45 bus lines all pass by or are within a block of us. The historic San Francisco cable car California line is also one block away.

  • Parking Details: After 7:00, street parking around the restaurant is ample. St. Mary's Garage is the closest 24 hour lot, and is just a block and a half from our door.

  • "Nice decor but the table arrangements near the door was a bit awkward. The hostess station placement seemed contrived (an afterthought maybe). To be fair we were asked if we would like to move to another table when we first sat down. (They know their seating is a problem?) The food was very good but a bit on the high side price-wise compared to others at this same Chef-level. Our salad appetizer was beautifully plated as was my meal. My guest's plate however lacked in this area...it was just sort of sloppy. The taste was very-good all around. Great selections of wine. It will be awhile before we get back to this place (not a knock really, there are just so many other places to visit before revisiting here)."

  • "My work colleagues and I had dinner at Credo. The noise level was rather exuberant, which made talking amongst ourselves a little challenging. The noise level did quiet down after a large nearby party left. The space is very open which lends itself to be a little on the louder side. The food was amazing! We started off with duroc pork & ricotta meatballs served on polenta with romano cheese. We also shared burata cheese with honey and sea salt served with crostini. The server recognize we had more people than crostini and without asking, gave us more. Every dish that was ordered was tasteful and fully consumed! The beer, wine and port selections were varied enough to accommodate our party of 7. Great place to go and enjoy."

  • "The place was noisy but the service was fairly good and they must be saving a ton of money on their fresh produce bill. The heirloom tomato and mozzarella plate consisted of one small tomato cut into five or six pieces. It's tomato season for heavens sake! My fig pizza special of the day was mostly just dry crust. Our table of four received five crostini with the honeyed cheese appetizer and were unable to get any more and ended up eating forkfuls of the cheese alone. They skimped in all the wrong places. Pasta was fine so maybe I just shouldn't have ordered the pizza."

We had a gluten free diner (my boss - as in the guy who's picking up the check for our table of 10) & I tried my best to work w/our server to identify gluten free menu items (he was more interested in getting us to order drinks, appys early than "listening" to our needs). There were 2 people at our table who requested "room temperature" water (I was one of them) we did receive our water, however, we did not receive refills from our server NOR a table floater bus boy type individuals UNTIL we called them over. Food YES/ Service NO"

  • "First time at Credo for lunch. My friend and I split the "special" pizza. It was one of the best pizzas I've ever had! Perfect crust, very fresh toppings - just delicious. We also each had a salad, both of which were excellent. Each of us also tried one of their non-alcoholic beverages - I had the raspberry, thyme lime soda and my friend had the lemonade. Both were very refreshing. I would definitely recommend Credo for a business lunch or just a casual lunch with friends. The service was also very good - attentive but not hovering. Great experience!"

  • "I went to Credo with clients and two things come to mind: (1) the reviews are spot on and (2) the décor is really interesting. This restaurant is in a premier location if you are walking, is open, airy and has wonderful quotes on the wall At the risk of sounding like a miser, I just think that a menu where the lease expensive glass of wine is $11 is a bit much. The food was pretty good. I started with the kale salad which I really enjoyed because is demonstrated the chef’s imagination by allowing the bitter kale to come through with a zesty fruity sauce. The strozzapreti with braised beef ragu and parmesan would earn a rating of excellent it they had given me more and the beef Carpaccio with arugula and capers was an outstanding starter."

We were shown to our table and given water, but it took about ten minutes before a waiter approached and asked right away if we were ready to order. It felt like we were ignored and then rushed. However, the Caprese appetizer he recommended was outstanding. Our entrees arrived quickly and were delicious. It was just too darn noisy with the open kitchen and the hustle-bustle. There were only two of us across a small table, but we had to raise our voices to hear each other. The noise level precluded normal conversation."

Despite being the only party dining on an early weeknight, we felt neglected. Bar service was slow, as was the food. The food was tasty, although the value was not there. It was especially painful as someone had to return their porchetta entrée as one of the two slices was completely pork fat. The hostess (rather than the waiter) wound up bring out a side salad to make up for the returned entrée, but our dining experience was already circling the drain hole. It's not likely that we'll be doing another group dinner, but would be willing to give lunch a shot - with a much smaller party. "

  • "Got there at 5 for dinner, so service was fast. Portions very generous, and good value. I had the 4 cheese pizza -- crust was nice and thin and very crisp - perfect! The side order of spinach was fab and only $4; perfectly seasoned and not greasy. Hubby had a pasta dish with sage meatballs, which was yummy and meatballs were very delicate in flavor. Tasted the roasted squid appetizer, and it was unusual but super tasty -- such a large portion that it would be best shared by four. Everyone loved their Graffeo coffees and espressos, and our friend's loved the gelato. Especially that they could get a small scoop instead of a huge dish. By 6 PM the bar had filled up with after work crowd and it was super noisy. But would definitely return."

My coworker got the chicken ceaser and it look horrible. Like it was pre-packed... Something you'd expect if you order a salad at a ballpark. Blah. Out service was super slow, nice but he moved like a snail... We sat downstairs which was super akward... If the food was good id probably not care. But with good so-so and sitting in a basement. It's just bad altogether. I guess overall in pretty disappointed. I'm sure the owner didn't plan it this way. Someone is slacking and it shows. Sorry... "

  • "What a pleasant surprise. Our monthly theater group chose this restaurant as it was close to Bart and close to the theater on Jackson street. We all tried different dishes and agreed with other people's comments about the fried octopus and brussel sprouts dish. Fantastic. The winning choice for main entree was the scallops. Since fava beans are in season another choice was the whole wheat pasta with fava beans. Very tasty. The service was impeccable. We did not have to ask for anything. Our choice of the Pinot Noir wine was perfect for all of our food choices. We will be returning to this restaurant. It was the highlight of the evening since the play we saw was a major bust!!!!"

  • "I took clients on a business lunch. The restaurant was very accommodating, and seated us downstairs where it wasn't quite as noisy without us even having to ask. The only thing that could have been improved upon was the size of the portions. I actually prefer smaller, more European portion sizes, but the amount of food in the gnocchi dish was a little lacking. Otherwise, I would recommend the restaurant. "
