Took out of town friends here, 7 of us, and we all had excellent meals served at the same time and hot! Good wine list. Only disappointment was fireplace wasn't burning and looked like it hadn't been used in forever. But we did get to watch the painter perform magic when she decorated all the windows by painting winter scences...in 15 min. time! Notable dinners; Ravioli's with truffels, blackened haddock, and scallops. Steaks looked good. Will be back! open table worked great for reservations too.

We arrived early for our reservation and were seated immediately in a booth, as we preferred. The waiter was prompt, knowledgeable, and provided the right level of attention. We enjoyed the Halibut Onati and Elk steak after some delicious crab cakes. We know we can always count on high quality from Cottonwood Grill.

As a "grill," I found the Ribeye steak very pedestrian: very thin cut and not as flavorful as I have experienced elsewhere. Considering its size & dimensions, price was 50% too high. Compared unfavorably with Sizzler, more like a truck stop in small town. Presentation also poor, non-existent. The side of boiled potatoes and asparagus, also dismal. French onion soup, also a disaster...very small and poorly conceived: esp. the cheese, few onions. Salads of other dinners alright, but pedestrian. Pasta dish (a ravioli) had a bit of bite, probably the best item. Dessert also not up to standard; creme brule uninspired.

The Cottonwood Grille has been one of our favorite places to go when we wanted to take our time, enjoy food and wine, and carry on a conversation. It has been a few years since we last dined there, and we were a bit disappointed with our latest visit. The ambiance is still great, and we did not feel rushed at all - though the wait staff appeared to be overburdened and there were long periods of inattention from them. We knew what to expect menu-wise, but it seems that portions have become more stingy - one of our guests ordered the Shrimp Scampi which seemed to feature the rice in a pool of water vs. any substantial quantity of shrimp. At a total of ~$40/head, we were somewhat disappointed value-wise.

Tasty house salad dressing. Good flavor from the buffalo. Everything else a little below par, except the salmon which was well below par. Marginal food, for the most part, and lackluster, inattentive service. I would accept this kind of marginal experience from a casual, $10/plate establishment; but Cottonwood's prices should come with a higher standard for both food and service.

The Cottonwood Grille is a beautiful restaurant and a great place to take people who don't have tastebuds for special occasions. Lovely atmosphere but the food is boring. My friend had salmon ravioli and the white sauce was mild like milk. I had a burger, which should be pretty safe, but it was dull. Very lean, but no flavor. I had to request mustard and the server brought the yellow stuff you would find in a grade school cafeteria, at least they could have some Dijon or pub mustard. Yawn.

My husband and I have been regular customers of The Cottonwood Grille for over 15 yrs, and have noticed the past 2 years that we have had more and more unsatisfactory experiences there. Our inclination is to keep trying, but we have finally given up for a while. The menu item choices as well as the quality/presentation of the food prepared has been suffering, while prices are steadily increasing. Servers in the past have been impeccably dressed, polite and attentive, and now we notice a very casual, nonchalant attitude. The differences are relatively subtle that contribute to my disappointment, and not everyone would notice, but after enjoying The Cottonwood as our favorite special occasion restaurant for so long, it's a little sad.

Great outdoor seating in non-smoking area. Waitress didn't know menu but checked. Unfortunately, order was placed after party of 30 orders were placed so 30 minute delay in getting food. Toast cold on arrival. Meaty, flavorful bacon cooked perfectly. Basque omelet good with interesting texture and flavors, skimpy on vegetables. Mimosas average. Best, varied brunch menu I was able to locate online.

Menu with very good variety of food selections. A pit pricey but had the most tender pork chops with sensational sauce I've ever eaten. Large food portions. French onion soup was just o. Two drinks ordered. One was not the drink ordered and was replaced. The other, a coffee drink tasted like burnt grounds and has zero taste of the alcohol that was suppose to be in it and no offer to replace it was offered even though only one sip was gone. Atmosphere was very good. Booths comfortable and interior was quiet for conversations to be conducted.

We typically dine in the the same 3-4 restaurants so I wanted to try something different. I had previously had lunch at Cottonwood so I thought we should give dinner a try. I don't ever care how much our dinner cost, only that it be good. We got great meals at a very reasonable cost, the service was great, they had a good selection of different "specials" available that added to their decent menu selection. Overall had a great time and Cottonwood will be added to the dining rotation.

I really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. The ambiance was relaxing with dim lights and soft music. The lamb shank and berry cobbler dessert were very good. The chocolate cream pie was good but very hard to cut and seemed previously frozen. The wine list did not have many organic wines (sustainable is not organic). They had no wines with no added sulfites -- disappointing. I did not see any certified organic, hormone free meats, wild fish or organic veggies, rice or desserts on the menu. White bread was served, not wheat. Surprising for such an upscale, expensive place. I suggest they start serving organic, gmo-free items because hormones, pesticides, gmo's and antibiotics are harmful and people demand higher quality, healthier foods.

I always like coming back to the Cottonwood Grille. On a day with picture postcard weather, we ate outside for a delightful lunch. Coquetas were tasty while we took in the beautiful surroundings. My companion enjoyed the soup and salad combination, particularly the delicious clam chowder. My spinach salad with salmon was excellent. The salmon was cooked perfectly, the dressing was light and the salad ingredients could not have been more fresh. I'll be back for lunch or dinner whenever I'm in Boise.

The on-line menu looked good so I booked a table. I had oysters on the half shell and the first oyster was excellent with that wonderful sea taste flavor, a creamy body, and a nice brine finish. The first was the best and the rest not quite as good (believe they were not all of the same variety) but still fresh. The Caesar Salad was nice but most of the ingredients were separated - not how I would do it but still quite acceptable. Elk was the main course... the meat was seared to perfection, the asparagus was outstanding, the red skin potatoes just right, and the sauce was heavenly - a genuinely well put together dish without the fuss. Highly recommended entree. Caveat: the main dining room is big and cuts down on the intimacy factor.

The food was very good and presented very nicely. I hope to be able to bring my husband there one of these days because he loves fish and chips and I'm guessing he will love yours also.
