  • "food and service was great. the only two notable things to mention was being able to share some plates. our server was really good at mentioning this plate serves only two or three did you want to add one more to fit your table? what they didnt mention was for dessert that the Pintxos Trio - Three mini bite-size skewers is really only good for one and a bit tough to share for four. the seats against the wall were hard to squeeze into. when you sit on the bench the space between you and the table was a bit tight. other than those two it was a great lunch."

  • "While I don't usually recommend eating alone in a restaurant, I made a mistake with my Coqueta reservation and my dining companion was unable to join me at the last minute. I missed my friend but had a chance to give full attention to the food--its complexity and balance. My server offered some good suggestions on the way and I had a wonderful dinner. I'll be coming back soon with my friend."

  • "We loved Bottega in Yountville & was sure to try Coquetta since we were in the city. The food was very good, as you would expect from Michael C. However, it was pricey and noisy. The place was packed with people waiting as we left at 2:45 pm. For best value, great ambiance & great food, it's Bottega for us."

  • "came in early afternoon with the mrs and mother in law. One of the hottest days of the year so far and they were good enough to move us to the end of the central table in the bar when we decided the dining room was too warm and stuffy. started with an exquisite J&T, the white gazpacho, which was an absolute work of art as well as a tortilla and the beet salad with bleu cheese snow, which had the most subtle flavors of almost any pickled dish I have had. On a dare mother and law and I shared the uni/lardo over toast and it was better than I expected. I also got the ham and honey toast which was also quite good, the missus got the poached eggs and prawns with shoestring potatoes and the vineyard greens was a spanish spinachi w/grapes, etc"

  • "Great menu, went with group of 8 to try plenty of dishes. Best: octopus, paella, kale salad, crispy chickpea pancake and the best patatas braves. Staff was extremely careful and kind to my gluten & dairy free guest. It's not fancy, but a wonderful destination place to dine, followed by a lovely walk on the pier overlooking the bay."

  • "The server was very helpful when we were trying to decide what to order. The only negative thing was the noise level in the restaurant. My husband and I were seated next to party of 6 against the wall and you couldn't help but hear their conversation because the noise in the restaurant made them talk quite loudly. It got better after more people left the restaurant."

  • "Our reservation was relatively last minute, and 9:45pm was the only thing showing available on that particular day; we took a chance and showed up at 9:15 and the place was half empty - so I wish we'd called directly for earlier availability. I love authentic white anchovies that I can get in Spain, so I was happy they have them at Coqueta. We followed the anchovies and the roasted padron peppers - which had a nice fresh pepper flavor - definitely not spicy. For our "main" we shared the whole grilled branzino, which was perfectly seasoned and tender. The wine list was extremely large and focused on Spain, which was of course perfect. It was a nice visit for a lighter meal."

  • "...but I survived to write this review! Coqueta was so good, a completely wonderful experience until the end when our server completely ignored the information I gave her of my severe anaphylaxis to chocolate/cocoa/cocoa powder/cocoa butter. Not until AFTER dessert was consumed was I told to not eat the caramel cheesecake! Sorry gang, this is more than just an "oops" moment. After I had to totally purge the wonderful 5 star dinner from my system, Coqueta did nothing more than take the dessert off our bill. That's it. My entire dinner ends up in the toilet and I get a free dessert....and a chance to LIVE! NO! NO! NO! This is not how you run your house, boys and girls! Note to self: You do not want to kill your patrons!"

  • "I've been to lots of tapas bars here in US & Spain & the food here is good but not awesome. The service is pretty ordinary--our waitperson was not very wine savvy-- and I expected a whole lot more for a lunch that averaged over $50 person. It is way overpriced and some of the portions are ridiculously small. I would not return or recommend."

  • "We really wanted to like this restaurant and had planned on spending a leisurely hour, or two, for lunch. But we actually stopped ordering food after the first 3 tapas plates were served ... sure, they were beautifully presented--with small brilliant flower blossoms on top--but for $9 for 3 ounces of rather mealy gespacho, or morsels of oil-soaked smoked salmon on crispy pieces of dinky bread or 3 medium butter-slathered shrimp for $14? Sorry. The interior decore, food presentation, Bay views around the locale, and the wait staff, were certainly easy on the eyes but the non-existant parking, the minimalist product portions and the fact that altho' the food was interesting it was FAR from memorable, made us both say, "let's go elsewhere.""

  • "Bad experience from the start. Hostess tried to seat us (we had a reservation) at the bar! (there was a table free) We had to insist on that...she was obviously unwilling and then tried to turn into something special she was doing for us. Our waiter was nice and helpful...but --- shrimp horribly overcooked, fried stuff is super oily---perhaps we might consider coming back for the beef or pork---but there are so many other awesome places in SF, why bother. Water is served in a steel glass that tastes metallic. Beer is served in a glass for OJ. Sangria was AWFUL; watered down and tasted like cough syrup (Way too much Anis). At that point, nothing was worth coming back for...Best part of our experience was getting the heck out there."

  • "I went to Coqueta thinking it could not be as good as the reviews. Rarely am I as impressed as the PR that you hear about a restaurant. But this one was good, really good. We had several small plates and every one was great. The highlight was the octopus. Delicious potatoes, sausage, cheese, ham. Creative bar menu. I can't wait to return."

  • "delicious food! Service is great but I have also had the same server the 2x I have been here. I wish I knew his name but he is a great host funny, delightful and doesn't push you to order anything.The only reason I didn't give 5 stars for service was because I made the reservations over a month in advance and requested a window seat for a bridge view. They sat us down at the bar at first which was pretty disappointing. I assumed they didn't receive the special request for the view. I looked around and didn't see any 2 tops available. Just a few minutes after sitting at the bar area, a host (possibly service manager?) came over and said that they had a cancellation and can move us to our requested window seat. Was super thankful for that!"

Had the squid ink cuttlefish vermacelli - very good and the kale salad, squid Monterey Bay, olives, almonds and crispy potato seafood egg dish. All very good. Great decor.   • "Michael Chiarello has done it again with Coqueta. I love Bottega in Napa, and Coqueta, although not Italian, is excellent. There were three of us and we shared 7 or 8 different tapas-every one was wonderful. . especially enjoyed the cheese platter, the shrimp and the albondigas. I am not a big Sangria fan, but the Sangria here is very good..."

  • "I was solo and had a seat at the bar where I could see the kitchen and almost half the small dining room. The stool was horribly uncomfortable but I sure enjoyed being able to see so much. The croquets were delicious. The squid was very good. I also really enjoyed the chocolate covered olive that was part of my desert. The kale salad looked very good and the meat and cheese platter was very popular."

  • "I went to Coquetta on multiple recommendations from foodies telling me that La Coquetta reinvented Tapas. Being a chef I was looking forward to this experience. Unfortunately I think that my expectations were too far above what La Coquetta set out to offer. The food is good, presented in new and interesting ways. It serves a menu of improved Tapas with a great atmosphere. The place is vibrant, fun, relaxed and friendly. If you go there for the food you are missing the point."

  • "Our recent experience at Coqueta was extremely disappointing. Having dined there on numerous occasions and previously enjoyed good food and attentive service, we were astonished by the poor treatment we experienced on our last visit. After reserving a table a month in advance & traveling a great distance - upon arrival we were escorted to the counter. My girlfriend was in a full leg brace and it was obvious she couldn't sit on a tall stool up against counter without room for her leg. When I pointed out to Antonio that I didn't ask for a counter seat and needed my reservation for a table to allow her to sit down, he simply informed me "This is all there is." His arrogance and insensitivity was shocking. Coqueta has lost me as a customer!"

  • "This is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in the city. I've been here many times before. My boyfriend and I were running late for our brunch reservation and had to change the time at least twice. Customer service was outstanding. I thought for sure we would be waiting, but we were seated immediately. Love the ambaince and decor of the dining area. Food is always delicious!"

  • "We were a party of four arriving 10 minutes early, but seated promptly. The best dish we had was the sunny side-up eggs w/shrimp, potato and chorizo dressing. The white anchovies tasted very fishy and the much anticipated meatballs were much too sweet, but the chicken and pea croquets were good. However, we felt that the dishes came out too fast, not allowing for any conversation in between. Would like to come back to try other dishes and asking our server, who was very accommodating, to have the dishes arrive at a slower pace. After all, we are not dining at a fast food Chinese restaurant."

  • "Our group arrived for lunch before another group of six so we asked the waitress put in our order before theirs.. Still their table was served first. Our order of paella took over 1 hour 15 minutes to get to the table. (We were frustrated by the long wait and we wondered at what time the waitress had put in our order.) She told us it takes 45 minutes to prepare; and we had been there since 11:45, ordered at noon when she finally came to take the order. After 1:10 we told her that we were going to have to leave without having the paella, and and finally it arrived at 1:15. We never had our water refilled by the waitress or bus boy so we had to ask the hostess to do so for us. Food was very good. We will not return."

  • "The food was outstanding, the octopus amazing and the rib-eye was excellent. I cannot say enough about how good the food was. We had 4 in our party and had the Wood fired octopus, the house brine olives, the meatballs, crispy Kale salad, the rib eye, paella and the chocolate cake. All amazing and we wanted more of everything. It was the best meal we had in San Francisco over the week we were there. However, the host and waitress was condescending. I wish I had checked names so I could tell you who. I would go back to eat there because the food was so amazing."
