This was our second visit and each time Coles 735 has blown our socks off. Our last visit, we had the pork belly confit appetizer, a special grouper and the filet. OMG! Absolutely delish!! The filet was cooked perfectly and melts in your mouth. The grouper was excellent and paired with a cauliflower pecan lemongrass salad...I can't say how excellent this meal was!

I had a great experience! Me and my girlfriend had dinner there and from the time we walked in till we left the Coles we had a blast. The service was fast and freandly. The food was so good. I had the filet mignon and it was the best steak I have ever had! We love our experience and would recommend it to anyone!

fabulous bourbon coctails; they both wet and dry age beef, which we enjoyed; steller wine list reasonably priced along with recommendations by the restaurant manager; Jared, our waiter was very pleasant and knowledgeable. this was our anniversary dinner and we hope to return again!

Food was well prepared and the inventive menu included something for everyone. The service was competent but spotty because a party of twenty or more placed their order at or about the same time as our party of four. Although the space is pleasant, the tables are much too close together. I was continuously bumped by patrons and servers alike. Finally, while I enjoy an energetic noise level, it was simply too loud druing my visit. Our group simply couldn't carry on a conversation once the restaurant was populated.

  • Plesant Birthday Dinner at Coles
    ALJTCATS
    Dined on 9/20/2014
My husband and I celebrated our birthdays at Coles and had a wonderful experience. We started with the baked brie which was incredibly tasty. I had the seafood medley which was extremely fresh, given our land-locked location in Lexington! It was served over homemade lemon-pepper pasta, which was very tasty. My husband enjoyed the chicken dish he ordered, as well. We really enjoyed the ambiance...it almost seemed like we were back in Provence! Overall, we had a great experience and will definitely return for a future special occasion dinner!

Our waiter was really good. He caught a mistake the kitchen had made and corrected it before serving it to us. The food arrived in good time, and - as always - was really really good. This is an excellent restaurant. Food great, interesting, and service is about perfect from my perspective - and I am part owner of a competing restaurant. I have had wine there. It is always a good wine. I am not a wine connousier (in fact I can't even spell it!), but their house wines are always good. Owner came around and checked to see how it was going, as well.

Having heard mixed reviews, but being impressed by the menu; it was my choice for my birthday dinner. Everything was really very good with two exceptions. The noise level was a little loud I think due to the closeness of the tables. Also, some of the portion sizes were a little on the small size especially for a man. That said, I most definitely go back.

As northern California foodies, we always look for well crafted food both representing the region as well as highlight high local ingredients. Coles does both well. The only item slightly off was the pork belly. To be fair, we do not like highly salted foods and Kentucky pork and hams tend to be salted more than what we are used to. Our waiter was FABULOUS! He could train waiters in our area and Sonoma County is know for its restaurants.

I had no idea that Lexington had such a quaint little restaurant with such good food. The service was prompt, courteous and friendly. It was our first time to eat there and we will definitely be back. I had the trout special and it was delicious. My husband said the salmon and sides complemented perfectly. Everyone in our party enjoyed their dinner and the cozy atmosphere. The pinot wine was smooth and good.

We are recent transplants from Colo. and had company visiting for a long weekend and decided to try Cole's. We had read good things and decided to make reservations for Sat night at 6pm. Initial impressions were mainly regarding the charm of the interior along with the wide variety of food on the menu. We had a vegetarian and another following a heart healthy diet and were pleased there were many choices for all of us. Our server, Brian, made several terrific suggestions regarding drink selections, regular and special offerings on the dinner menu. The grilled ceasar salad was prepared just right, and the presentation of the entrees was stunning - in particular the shrimp and grits. Two thumbs up for Cole's - we will be back!

Poor service, very expensive (particularly for the quality & portion), Have tried Coles several times and get the same consistant result poor. We chose Coles for our 45th anniversary dinner. Another couple joined us. Service was prompt, efficient, and friendly. One member of our party dropped a glass of water and the staff took care of everything - including replacing the meal - very promptly and courteously. It was an impressive team effort. All of the meals were excellent. The filet is the best in town. When the server learned that it was our anniversary, he brought a complimentary cheesecake dessert for the table. Overall, it was an excellent experience.

Since my husband and I prefer vegan it is hard to find a restaurant that has suitable offerings on their menu. Coles has two. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the evening's specials, the food is very good and it is clear that the standards for everything here are very high. My only comment is that between courses there is little time to savor what we had just eaten because the next course arrives immediately. We were there for our 48th wedding anniversary and when the waiter saw us opening cards he wondered if it was a special occasion for us. As a result we were given a small bottle of champagne and a dessert of the waiter's choice to share, a lovely gesture. It is hard to find fault at Coles.

My husband and I chose to celebrate a special birthday with 2 of our friends. We were greeted and shown to our table. My husband had made the reservation on line because of Labor Day! When you look at their website, it says to choose a table, so we assumed the picture of the table shown was going to be ours! We were wrong! Once we voiced that we thought we were getting a window table, we were informed that they were reserved! We ordered drinks which were great! The Cosmo was superb! The salads were good and the meal was fine! Our service was excellent once we settled in! Another friend had made arrangements for 2 birthday surprises! Our waitress presented both of them at separate times throughout the evening! We will be back!

In the midst of a din of a full restaurant, we managed to tolerate the dismal service to get to the excellent food. I had Filet Oscar (excellent) and that made the cacophony worth tolerating. Dinner for 4 was $242, with a total of 5-6 drinks (total for the whole table for the evening. You must get a res on about tuesday and no later to get a reasonable dining hour on Friday and Saturday.

This was our first visit to Coles 735 Main. We were greeted warmly and immediately shown to our table. The restaurant is charming - set in an old house and decorated with a feeling of home. Our waitress was knowledgeable and made informed suggestions which we accepted without disappointment. Panko crusted avocado with crab salad an Brie in phyllo were delicious. Our party of four each chose different entres. Each one was delicious. My grouper was light, but full of a variety of flavors. The potatoes under the chicken was a complimentary flavor to the meat. The sweetness of the coating on the duck was welcomed by my daughter. Finally the sirloin my husband had was cooked perfectly; really it was too much meat! No complaints.

    Overview
    Dined on 8/21/2014
The menu choices are broad, and require much thought in order to decide that which to eat. The food is top notch. The wine choices are adequate and offer decent value. The service is well-trained and professional. Because of the size of the restaurant and popularity, it is often crowded, and if you sit next to a festive table, their noise will spill over into your table.

Fresh, locally-sourced ingredients presented in delicious and unique ways. The heirloom tomato salad special was fantastic with the unexpected but memorable toasted Macadamias. The shrimp and grits were savory but I really prefer the creamy grits over polenta cakes. Blueberry streusel cheesecake was incredible. Service was lovely and attentive as usual!

The pastrami short ribs did not live up to its description, while the beef shoulder was OK, but not at the price. We will probably not come back. Disappointed.
